International oil trading giant, Vitol, has successfully sold a consignment of aviation fuel from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery to a Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Company (BIDEC) in Ghana.

This transaction underscores the growing influence of the $20 billion Dangote Refinery as a key supplier of refined petroleum products across the West African region.

This development does not only strengthen regional energy trade but also meets the demand for aviation fuel to support Ghana’s growing aviation sector amid rising air travel activity.

It marks a significant step in fostering regional partnerships while positioning Africa’s largest refinery as a transformative player in the continent’s energy supply chain

I am not Ibo but I'll say my mind here.
I believe that the Ibos are more richer than any other tribes in Nigeria. There are many millionaires scattered amongst them that a concentrated few that are billionaires in the West or North.
When wealth circulates amongst a group, there's always reduction in poverty.
I have been to many Ibo communities due to the nature of my jobs, Omo, you'll be able to count how many mud houses in each community, if at all you'll find any.

Congratulations to those listed by Forbes but please spread the wealth so as to reduce poverty in your regions.
You'll hardly see Dangote, Dantata and all those few billionaires in the North have a foundation where they can lift people from poverty in their region, educationally.

THREE NIGERIANS MAKE FORBE LIST OF 50 WEALTHIEST BLACK AMERICANS 2024

Only three Yoruba - Nigerians made it to the list Adebayo Ogunlesi, Tope Awotona, and Wemimo Abbey.

Forbes has unveiled its 2024 ForbesBLK 50 list, celebrating the achievements of the wealthiest and most influential Black Americans.

What Forbes said

Adebayo Ogunlesi, with a net worth of $1.7 billion, stands out as a pioneering force in global infrastructure investment. As chairman and co-founder of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), Ogunlesi led the private equity firm through a transformative acquisition by BlackRock in 2024 for $12.5 billion.

Tope Awotona, the founder and CEO of Calendly, has redefined efficiency in scheduling and holds a net worth of $1.4 billion.

Wemimo Abbey, at just 32, is the youngest Nigerian on the list and cofounder of Esusu, an African fintech company addressing financial inclusion. Esusu helps renters build credit by reporting rent payments to credit bureaus, a service utilized by more than 20,000 properties and benefiting 1.8 million Americans.

Congratulations to them, This shows that you do not need to do anything illegal to be recognized. It does not come as a surprise that only men from the Yoruba Ethnic group made it to the list.

zackmann:
I've been to a lot of countries, and I must say that the cost of living in Switzerland is really high. The average price of a bottle of water here is $5. When I arrived last week, I spent 55 dollars on a pack of bottled water, which didn't even last for a week. I've been here for 9 days now, and I must say that my bank account is really feeling the heat. Everything here is damn expensive. Switzerland is for the rich abeg. Nothing anybody wan tell me. Today, when I went shopping for groceries, I thought I was going to spend not more than 80 dollars, but to my utmost surprise, I ended up spending over 200 dollars on little items. When I was in Norway, Australia and Netherlands, I thought that the cost of living was high (these countries are quite expensive to live in), but this is just on another level. I'm leaving here on Saturday abeg, before my account starts wailing.

Guys, let me use this medium to drop a piece of advice. If anyone is advising you to leave Nigeria, show gratitude to that person, because he/she wants the best for you. I've been touring for 6 months now, and I must confess that Nigeria is a sh*thole. This is actually an understatement. If there was a worse word to use to attribute Nigeria, I'd have used it. Once I'm done with my travels, I'm permanently relocating to a European country. I'm just using this medium to gather my facts first, before making a final decision.

I'm an American citizen by birth, but I've not lived there for 2 straight years; I've been on and off. America is kinda cool, but I've no interest in living there permanently. UK and Canada are for introverted people, in my own opinion. Right now, I'm thinking of maybe Sweden or Germany for permanent relocation. I was forced to learn Deutsch, because I studied in Germany from 2016-2022; before relocating back to Nigeria, to handle my Dad's businesses. I learn languages fast, but it took me 6 months to almost perfectly learn Deutsch language. I now speak English, French, Spanish, Deutsch, Latin, and a little bit of Hebrew. I'll be posting more with time. Merry Christmas in advance guys.

Moderators even promote such threads to the front page. If Nairaland fails to address this issue, it is time for the Nigerian government to step in, and everyone involved will have to face the consequences.

North-Central All Progressives Congress, APC, Forum has said the Northern region will stand behind President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

The APC Forum, in a statement on Monday, released after a meeting in Abuja on Sunday, said the region would vote for President in the 2027 presidential election.

The statement, signed by Chairman of the North-Central APC Forum, Saleh Zazzaga, stressed that the Forum decided to endorse Tinubu for a second term because his administration has extended several opportunities to the North-Central since he assumed office as President in 2023.

The development is coming on the heels of opposition to Tinubu’s reelection by the Arewa Consultative Forum and its youth wing, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum.

In a recent communique signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the ACF announced that it would support northerners running for the presidency in 2027.

Also, the AYCF, in a statement by its President, Alhaji Shettima Yerima, said the North regrets supporting Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

The group warned that the North might oppose Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027 unless significant changes are made to improve the country’s socio-economic conditions.

In her words, “Well, rats have always deserted sinking ships, so the Labour Party should say bye-bye to those five lawmakers. They’re entitled to do what they want if it’s within the ambit of the law, which I’m not even sure it is. But for me, the Labour Party is clearly in crisis. We had all that drama around their chairmanship and the traitor, who was on the take from outside elements.

Peter Obi will soon abandon this one in LP
PoliticsPeter Obi Has Gone From Top To Bottom, He’s A Disappointment’ by blamingthedevil(op): 5:58pm On Dec 19, 2024
An international journalist and former supporter of the Obidient Movement, Donu Kogbara, says the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is no longer living up to expectations.
According to her, Peter Obi motivated a lot of Nigerians and garnered a lot of supporters in the build-up to the 2023 elections, but his pedigree has nosedived after the election.

Speaking against the backdrop of recent high-profile defections from the Labour Party, Kogbara said the party is like a sinking ship, and the politicians have to fight for their survival.

She maintained while speaking in an interview with Arise News that even though Obi remains a good man, he has not been able to provide the kind of opposition leadership which got him so much support from youths and other Nigerians in the build-up to the 2023 elections.

Kogbara said many supporters of the obedient movement have become disappointed in Obi.

“I just can’t bear people who lack honour. So, there was that whole crisis and then there were other things that made it difficult for Labour Party to function as a proper party. But the thing that depresses me most is not so much what the senators and House of Representatives people do; it is Peter Obi himself.

“I just don’t understand how somebody who was this sparkling inspirational figure, who created a movement almost overnight, galvanized the youths, the intellectuals, anybody who had any iota of principle in their bloodstream, at least admired him to some extent even if they weren’t necessarily going to vote for him for whatever reason, has gone from top to bottom.

“As far as I’m concerned, he’s like a firework that has turned into a damp squib. He’s become so prosperous. All I see is him making anodyne statements here and there on television, donating boreholes or whatever. It’s all good stuff. He’s still a good guy but where is the leader that the opposition needs so desperately? He’s not looking like it.”

Kogbara added that not just Obi, but the entire opposition movement in Nigeria, including Atiku Abubakar, are not doing enough to put the government of President Bola Tinubu on its toes.

She further blamed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

She, however reserved the largest part of the blame for Obi, labelling him such a disappointment with no aggression to tackle the current government for its lousiness and failures.

“I blame the entire opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for allowing itself to be derailed by my dear friend, Nyesom Wike. By the way, I saw him a couple of months ago and I told him that ‘if I was a PDP Mandarin, I would have tossed you out by now.’ I also blame Atiku Abubakar of spending more time as a Dubai type of big man and not effectively taking on the government.

“And I blame Peter Obi most of all because Peter was a shining star and so many people committed themselves to him emotionally, myself included. I’m not Obidient anymore, to be honest with you, because he’s such a disappointment. I mean, there’s no aggression.
