Politics › Political Tsunami Hits Southern Kaduna As PDP, LP Bigwigs Defect To APC by blamingthedevil(op): 10:46am On Mar 29, 2025 |
In a dramatic turn of events, Kaduna, especially, the Southern part has witnessed a mass exodus of politicians from the Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress. This seismic shift has left many wondering what this means for the region’s future.
As one Kaduna South resident quipped, “It’s like a game of musical chairs, but instead of chairs, it’s party affiliations!” But beneath the humour lies a complex web of political maneuvering that could have far-reaching implications for Kaduna South.
In one swope, hundreds of prominent politicians across the state defected recently where that state governor, Senator Uba Sani welcomed them in droves. Among the first batch of those that defectors are Senator Danjuma Laar, Godfrey Ali Gaiya, and Ado Dogo Audu, all former members of the PDP. Additionally, Representatives Amos Gwamna Magaji and Donatus Mathew, as well as state legislators Henry Marah Zakariah, Samuel Kambai Koza, and Barrister Emmanuel Kantiok, have also joined the APC. The defections occurred during the APC’s zonal rally in Kafanchan, Southern Kaduna, where thousands of party supporters gathered to pass a vote of confidence in Governor Sani’s administration.
At another fora, other new members, who defected from other parties, include notable figures such as Shehu Sani, former Governor of Kaduna State Alhaji Muktar Ramalan Yero, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi.
So, what’s behind this mass exodus? Insiders point to a combination of factors, including the APC’s perceived strength at the national level and the allure of being part of the ruling party.
“Many of these politicians are pragmatists who want to be on the winning side,” says a local analyst. “They believe that joining the APC will give them a better shot at accessing resources and influencing policy decisions.” https://punchng.com/political-tsunami-hits-southern-kaduna-as-pdp-lp-bigwigs-defect-to-apc/

Politics › INEC Has Officially Informed Senator Natasha About Receiving The Recall Petition by blamingthedevil(op): 6:49pm On Mar 26, 2025 |
INEC has officially informed Senator Natasha about receiving the recall petition against her. Moreover, INEC confirms that the representatives of the petitioners have now provided their contact address, phone numbers, and email addresses.
In a statement by Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner of INEC announced that the next phase involves carefully reviewing the list of signatories provided by the petitioners. This step is to verify that the petition has been signed by more than half (over 50%) of the registered voters in the constituency. This verification process will be conducted in the days to come.
The statement reads: “Further to the statement issued yesterday, Tuesday 25th March 2025, the Commission hereby confirms that the contact address of representatives of the petitioners, their telephone numbers and e-mail addresses have now been provided in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Commission dated today Wednesday 26th March 2025.
“As provided in Clause 2(a) of the Commission's Regulations and Guidelines for Recall 2024, a letter has been written to notify the Senator sought to be recalled about the receipt of the petition and delivered to her official address. The same letter has been copied to the presiding officer of the Senate and published on the Commission's website.
“The next step is to scrutinise the list of signatories submitted by the petitioners to ascertain that the petition is signed by more than one half (over 50%) of the registered voters in the Constituency. This will be done in the coming days. The outcome, which will be made public, shall determine the next step to be taken by the Commission.
“We once again reassure Nigerians that the process will be open and transparent.” https://x.com/Imranmuhdz/status/1904950867112980679

This is how President Bola Tinubu will start looking at Governors, because by this singular action of the President, every Governor in Nigeria will now look at Rivers State and sit up from henceforth. If it can happen to them, it can be done to them if they allow their state degenerate. I foresee better service delivery in governance at the state and local government levels from now onwards. https://x.com/renoomokri/status/1902082011478499774
