Individual Opinion - Novelle is wonderful (Uk standard)
But if you want to practice safety in Nigeria *i think* you need ispon's certification... The situation where ispon's HSE training aren't needed are where Nebosh IGC or any other internationally recognised cert is required

It takes about 7 Weeks for NEBOSH IDip. 6 Weeks for classes. 1 week for exams (actually, about 3 days). Once you register, you must complete the courses within 5 years. So it is not a rush rush thing. But why wait till then?

Each of Modules A,B,C are quite huge. Materials used to teach were about 600 pages per module. Giving about 1800 pages. It is like doing NEBOSH IGC, but with newer stuff on Risk Assessment using techniques like FMEA, Fault tree analysis, etc.

There are 4 units, A,B,C and D. Unit D is more like a Thesis. An 8000 words written assignment on the application of HSE Theory and Practice. Most times focusing on an industry, organization or company.

It can be done in class or via distance learning/online. Depending on what suits you.

Cost depends on country and period. It won't be the same price with today. Notice the grey hair on my head? Hahahahaha. Cost also varies with country and trainer as well. IDip is not done in Nigeria for now. Well, the last time I checked. E.g Shields in the UK takes 1,450 Pounds nowadays.

1. Yes, 2017 calendar is not out. That was why I said if you are not in a hurry, you could wait for it. Doing these courses with NISP gives you some benefits. You become a member easily as you already know their way. NISP/ISPON is popular and like the bedrock for HSE Training in Nigeria. It has sentimental value. ISPON is also now backed by law to regulate the HSE Profession (more on Safety though) in NIGERIA.

2. You can't go to the University without going through Secondary School. Yes, you need to do either General HSE or Level 2 before you do Level 3.
Level 3 is considered as a higher level of competence. To get to this Level, you need to pass through one of the foundation/lower levels.

Let me give you my case. I have an MSc. In Safety Engineering from a Grande Ecole in France. However, I needed to do Level 2 before 3. This is even when I was busy in class correcting many of the erroneous impressions e.g. that "Hazards are bad and useless" during the ISPON Lecture. Hazards are not "useless", we need them to get things done. But they can be controlled and maintained using technical and managerial means of protection with appropriate levels of reliability. That is why we have mitigation actions to eliminate cause and/or mitigation actions to reduce consequences. Based on whether you are working from a Deterministic or Probabilistic School of thought. NISP/ISPON It was too rudimentary for me. But I listened, stepped in when I needed to. And listened when attentively because I knew I would also learn new things or refresh my memory. Even NEBOSH IGC was very rudimentary for me. It was NEBOSH IDip that came a little close to my level of competence (Higher than Level 8 ).

So, if you have the finances, do the General then Level 3. Unfortunately, I don't know the rules of Novelle Center. But you can call them to find out.

On a normal full time basis, it takes about 6-8 weeks to run. There are usually 3 units and each Unit takes about 2 weeks each. For now, I do not know about any trainer accredited to offer this.

Perhaps others might.

They seem quite okay. I also plan to do my NebIGC with them just for the fun of it. Hope fully by 2017 during my annual vacation. I also wish I could do the NebIDip.

For HSE 1,2,3, please inquire. Have they been certified by ISPON to offer this? Will ISPON not require that to be a member and recognised HSE Professional, you need to undergo their own Level 1,2 and 3 classes? Recall ISPON is now backed by law and calls it when it comes to HSE Professional Practise in Nigeria.

These are the few things to find out. However, if you don't mind doing both, then no wahalah. No knowledge is lost.

ish is really more expensive tho.. HSE 1*2*3 cumulative total of 90..
While novelle on the contrary, is 40k for five certificate including one from department of petroleum resources.. And installmental payment acceptable... Also.. The certs are from UK which are usually more regarded compare to our Nigeria acquired results
