7 Facebook Tips for Pastors by Brandon Hilgemann in Communication — 8 Aug, 2013 Facebook is kind of a big deal. Pastors cannot afford to ignore it. You know how I know Facebook has taken over the world? My Mom uses it. Facebook started as a college thing. Then it became popular with high schoolers. But suddenly moms, dads, and grandmothers are all over Facebook. Chances are, most of the people in your church are too. Social media isn’t just a fad. It’s here to stay. So, how should a pastor best use Facebook to advance the Church? I don’t have all the answers, but here are a few things I have learned. 7 Facebook Tips For Pastors 1. Don’t Mistake Facebook Friendships for Real Relationships Here is a mistake I have been guilty of. I comment on someone’s status, or like a pic and think I am a highly relational pastor engaged in the lives of my people. This is a trap that many young pastors fall into. Although Facebook messages, comments, and likes are nice (and you should be doing this), a Facebook comment will never hold the same weight as a personal phone call. A direct message conversation will never be the same as a conversation over coffee. Sharing a story on Facebook and telling stories over a meal are two very different things. Facebook is a relational tool, but it will never replace good, old-fashioned, authentic community. 2. Schedule Your Posts. I highly recommend that you use Buffer. Buffer allows you to easily drop all your status updates into slot of pre-scheduled posting times. For example, for ProPreacher.com I use Buffer to regularly push out preaching articles twice a day on both Facebook and Twitter. When I find an article I like, I just copy the link into Buffer and it automatically schedules it in the next available slot. I schedule weeks of posts in advance, so I can focus on other things. Bonus tip: Schedule your posts at the times most people in your church will actually be on Facebook. Typically the best times are first thing in the morning before they start their day, early afternoon during their lunch break, and at night after dinner. 3. Be Conversational. Imagine you are hanging out with a bunch of people at a friend’s house. Someone walks in the front door and yells, “COME TO CHURCH SUNDAY! ITS GONNA BE AMAZING!” and then walks out. Strange. Now, imagine that this same guy does the same thing the next very week and every week after that, never stopping long enough to talk to anyone. Annoying! This is essentially what many pastors and churches do on Facebook. It is a place where they just shout their announcements for all to hear. Social media is not a billboard, or a sermon. It is built for conversation. So ask questions, take polls, comment on other people’s statuses. Don’t just post things that are helpful for your church. Post what is helpful to your people. Engage with your audience and they will be more likely to engage with you. 4. Post Pictures. Lots of Pictures. If you didn’t notice when Facebook bought Instagram for a billion dollars, pictures are kind of important on Facebook. In fact, statistically, pictures have a higher rate of views and engagement than any other type of Facebook post. So rather than just posting a quote, post a quote with a picture. Instead of throwing out an announcement for a service project, announce it with a picture. Take pictures of people in your church and tag them in it. Post pictures from service projects, Bible studies, or just something funny. People like pictures. Bonus Tip: Here are a few of my favorite picture apps: Over, ColorStroke, Diptic, and 5. Be Human. Most people use Facebook to make their life look awesome. As a pastor, however, you have to fight the stereotype that your life is perfect, your stuff never smells, and you have Brady Bunch Family. Don’t try to look perfect. You aren’t Jesus. Some of the most encouraging things for your people will be the pictures or stories of your failures. Posts about your kids coloring on the walls of your house, your dog eating the TV remote, or the flat tire on your car before church. Let people know you are a real person, with real problems just like them. 6. Recycle Sermon Content. Don’t just throw away your sermons after you preach them. Capitalize on all that hard work and recycle your sermons. I would go into more detail, but I wrote a whole series of articles on how to do this. Here is the link. 7. Think before you post. I once heard Rick Warren say something along the lines of, “Social media is instant, global, and permanent.” Once you hit post, you cannot take it back. Throwing out a political opinion, angry reaction, or a tasteless joke can immediately have a negative impact on you and your ministry. Proceed with caution. Always stop to proofread. There have been a few times where the auto correct on my iPhone turned innocent words into things too offensive to post here. Before you send out a post, ask, “Is there any way that this post could this be misunderstood, seen as offensive, or taken out of context?” If the answer is yes to any of these, delete it and post something else. Your calling to reach people for Christ is far too important to be derailed by a thoughtless Facebook post. |
I Will never be the same again by Darlene Zchech I will never be the same again I will never be same again I will never return I've closed the door I will walk in path,I'll run the race And I will never be the same again. Fall like fire, soak like rain Flow like mighty waters again and again Sweep away the darkness Burn away the chaff And let the flame burn to glorify your name There are higher heights There are deeper seas Whatever you need to do,Lord do with me The glory of God fills my life And I will never be the same again. |
It is increasingly becoming a normal trend if not a rule in most churches for intending couples to undergo HIV and pregancy test. This excercise most atimes leads positive results which most atimes lead to cancelation of the scheduled wedding. My question which hurts the most: pregnant fiancee which you are not responsible or HIV positive fiancee? And finally will you go ahead with the scheduled wedding? Let the comments roll. |

#1 Expecting Marriage to Fix Everything Too many couples hurry to the alter expecting it to magically fix everything. Marriage certainly can feel magical sometimes, but it does not make life suddenly perfect. #2 Constantly Fighting Couples that argue all the time are not healthy, however couples that never discuss the tough issues may be worse. If you both keep sweeping problems under the rug and pretending to be happy, the downfall may be drastic. You may have been raised to think that men and women are supposed to fight like cats and dogs, but this is far from true. If you find yourself fighting nearly every day just to make yourself heard, it’s probably time to head out or send your partner packing. #3 Expecting Things to Change This is a hard lesson for some people to learn, but you can’t change your boyfriend/ girlfriend. Only they can do that and only when they decide to. If you’re waiting it out, expecting something wonderful to happen, you’re only wasting your time. #4 Pretending to Like Things That You Don’t This is a textbook mistake that people have been making since the beginning of time! Be with someone that shares your interests or at least someone that respect your differences, you will be much happier. #5 Making Assumptions One of the biggest assumptions made in a relationship is thinking that your partner is a certain way just because you met someone else that’s that way too. The whole “all guys/girls are the same” idea gets old fast. #6 Not Seeing Things From Their View You need empathy to get through any other relationship in your life — with co-workers, your family, your friends — why should it be different with your partner? #7 Not Being on the Same Page Some couples have a problem with one person feeling more committed than the other. The best way to ensure this problem never arises is to make sure you’re on the same page about everything. Talk it out, assure your partner of how you feel about them. #8 Not Compromising Let him pick where you go to eat if you get to pick the movie or vice versa. In the end, neither of you will really care what you did that day, but you’ll always remember that you were both willing to do something just because the other person likes it. #9 Not Handling Embarrassment A lot of people will accept being with someone that makes them feel embarrassed, or worse, someone that is embarrassed to be seen with them. Don’t sell yourself short just because you’re afraid of being alone. You owe them and yourself the respect to get out. #10 No Romance Sure, feeling like you’re in a chick flick can be pretty cheesy, but sometimes it’s those cheesy little moments that really show your partner that you care. #11 Can’t Handle Distance It is not uncommon for someone to have a job that takes them far away at times. Some people are not cut out for a relationship like this but will make the mistake of trying to stick with it anyway. It may seem brutal to break it off because you can’t handle the distance, but in the end you will only be saving each other from years of misery. #12 Not Resolving Conflict It’s become pretty popular to avoid saying “I’m sorry” at all costs these days. This may work for you if you’d like to make your partner feel terrible, but owning up to your mistakes will be worth it for both of you. #13 Intentionally Saying Hurtful Things This is a tactic that some people just didn’t grow out of after high school like they should have. Even when you are arguing with each other, don’t say things that you know will hurt them. Don’t disrespect them or say something that could affect them negatively. #14 Forgetting to Be Friends The root of a healthy relationship is friendship. Don’t let your romance (or lack thereof) make you forget that.http://jadeafrican.com/14-biggest-relationship-mistakes-people-make/ |
Bad breath is one of the most easy and common things to get. It could stem from food choices, down to a terrible case of morning breath, or even medical condition called halitosis. We’ve all at one time or another experience or dealt with that embarrassing odour or bad breath. What makes this even more terrible is that its a lot more harder to get rid of it than it is to “catch” it. So we have done all the leg work for you. All you need to do now is start implementing some of the tips we have layed out for you. 1. Brushing and Flossing: Millions of bacteria calls our mouth their home. When you have that many bacteria living in a small wet place such as the mouth, it is mportant to keep it clean by brushing and flossing regularly to remove as many bacteria as possible. The more you brush, the less bacteria there is in your mouth. The recommended number of times is a minimum of twice a day and make sure you scrub every cornrs of your mouth and remove particles. 2. Clean Your Tongue: Scientific research suggests that there are sme bacteria on top of your tongue that coats and protects against foul smells. But there are those other bacteria which manufacture foul odour as they grow and multiple in number. This means that the type of bacteria most present in your tongue could just be the difference between good and bad breath. The unfortunate part is that we do not know how to determin which one is the ” good bacteria” and which is the “bad bacteria. So, to be on a safer side, scrub your tongue from top to bottom and have a personal mouth examination. You’d know if there are are changes in your mouth situation. 3. Hydrate At Night Before Bed: The leading cause of bad breath is dehydration. At night when we are asleep, the body produces less saliva than when we are awake when we eat, drink and keep ourselves hydrated. Another important fact is that saliva contains oxygen, which slows down the growth of bacteria. So that means, when you are asleep, and not producing saliva, the oxygen level reduces, causing the body to experience a highly level of dehydration. So, hydrating yourself well enough before going to bed helps reduce bad breath in the morning. You may have to wake up more times than normal to go to the bathroom, but you’d be happy when you don’t have to wake up to your morning funk. 4. Don’t Rely On Mints and Gums: Putting you faith in the hands of minty gums is like bathing yourself in cologne to cover up body odour. It may work for a little while, but eventually the smell will break through. A mint or piece of chewing gum simply won’t kill the bacteria that cause mouth odor. Plus, if the mint or gum contains sugar, it will act as a free-lunch for the bacteria in your mouth. They will rapidly reproduce and release the volatile sulfur compounds, that cause bad breath. Its possible that your bad breath could be as a result of an undiagnosed medical condition. Again, regular medical check up is a necessity! Get used to doing that. 5. Understanding The Culinary Bandits: There are foods that you can eat that affects a the way your breath smells. So, if you’re one of those people who have bad breath, it’s time to examine your dinner plate. Onions and Garlic takes the lead on this one. Foods that contains high levels of protein and low-levels of carb (dieter take note). Though these foods may promote your weightloss goal, it sadly doesn’t do the same for your breath. Eating less than 100grams of carbohydrates a day can trigger a condition known as Ketosis which is a metabolic state that causes your body to burn fat instead of sugar. However, if you’re committed to your weightloss goals, you could still freshen your breath by doing one simple thing with the world’s most common liquid..See number six 6. WATER!!! Make Rinsing A Big Part of Your DailyRoutine: What you drink can cause bad breath, too. Consuming alcohol, acidic beverage, including soda, coffee, will release compounds into your bloodstream that will then release odors through your breath. A key piece of information is if your drink is high in acidic componenets, it reduces the pH level in your mouth: And lower pH level allows bacteria a free-reign in your mouth and release volatile sulfur compounds, which smell similar to a rotten egg. 7. Try Natural Remedies: If you’re serious about combating bad breath, chase your meal with fresh minty leaf…yes! If you are up for the challenge. It works like magic, both on your breath, and also serves as a source of veggie. You could also do green tea right after meal, or sip it throughout the day. Green tea helps keep your breath fresh because it has antibacterial compounds that fight the germs in your mouth. Up the ante by using a cinnamon stick to stir your tea; cinnamon has essential oils that fight stinky breath, too 8. Explore With Food That Smells Good: There are certain foods that smell good — and make your breath smell and taste good, too. For example, fruits high in vitamin C, such as; Grapes, Melons, berries and citrus fruits such as oranges. These fruits doesn’t sit well with the bacteria in your mouth. Instead of continuing to reproduce, the bacteria will begin to die. And the more C- laden fruits you eat, the more oral germs you’ll kill. Other foods option that works magic are, crunchy fruits and vegetables like Celery, carrots, apples. Any other foods that has high levels of fiber would works awesomely well too! 9. Lose The Cigarette..ASAP: If you’re one of the million of people who smoke, then you know that bad breath is somethig that you face on a day-to-day- basis. Not only do cigarettes release a cocktail of chemicals into the mouth, but they also cause a host of other problems to your overall health and wellness. 10. Regular Dental Check up: If you haven’t eaten garlic in six months, you’ve given up acidic drinks and you end each meal by eating a raw apple instead of a sugary dessert. But you still have bad breath, and you’re still wondering what to do about it. Unfortunately, one of the most common causes of persistent bad breath is also one of the most overlooked: a lack of regularly scheduled visits to your dentist. The WHO strongly recommends we have a professional cleaning regularly. For most people, twice a year should suffice. For others who experience tartar buildup more quickly, four times a year may be necessary. The professional cleaning process not only removes tartar from the teeth, which if untreated could lead to periodontal disease, but it also can identify any infected areas that need treatment. So make regular dental check up a routine to avoid preventable medical and non medical issues. We hope this helps! http://jadeafrican.com/10-effective-ways-to-fight-bad-breathmouth-odour/ |

What makes the perfect girlfriend or wife material? Is she the girl next door with gorgeous good looks and an impressive bosom? Well, not exactly. Contrary to what you might think, most guys aren't looking for a supermodel. They're just looking for their perfect match: A woman who's down-to-earth, sweet and sensitive to his needs... Here are ten attractive traits that every man keeps in mind when deciding if the woman sitting across the dinner table from him at that first date would be a good girlfriend and wife material. 1. Confidence Take it from the guys, nothing is sexier than a woman who's comfortable in her own skin. If you're guilty of meekly asking lines like: "Does this skirt make my thighs look fat?" ... stop asking. If you're constantly needing his reassurance that you're beautiful, he may start asking questions himself. 2. Intelligence Acting like a bimbo loses it's novelty to men after high school. What men want in a girlfriend is a woman who can stand as his equal. So be the smart, savvy woman you are! To him, it's a total turn-on. 3. Unmaterialistic Yes, he wants to be your knight in shining armor. And yes, he wants to treat you like the princess you are... but that doesn't give you license to act like one. Allow him the luxury of treating you with romantic dinners and surprise baubles without having to demand them of him. He'll be relieved that he doesn't have to try so hard and surprisingly, this will inspire him to rise to the occasion when he doesn't have to dedicate his whole paycheck to lavish tokens of his love for you. 4. Spontaneity One of the first things to go in a relationship is the spontaneity. You get stuck in your Friday night dinner dates and you lose that spark you had when you first started dating each other. Don't lose it! Men love a woman who can do things spur-of- the-moment. 5. Laid-Back What's one of the best things you can do for your relationship with him? Relax. Just relax. When you come home from a long, hard day at work and see those dishes piling up in the sink, we know you have the urge to lash out at him. Instead, try to let it go for the night. No man likes a nag and every man likes a woman who can let her hair down and doesn't sweat the small stuff. A relationship is solid when you're able to relax with each other. 6. Playfulness Guys like a girl who laugh at their jokes, but isn't mindless and isn't always serious about everything. Just as we mentioned that men like a woman who can forgo nagging him about the dishes, they like a woman who can joke about the dishes too. Biting remarks and snappy comebacks are just the witty repartee to keep the spark between you in your relationship. And hey, isn't laughter the best aphrodisiac? 7. Sensuality We've already mentioned before that it's not all about your looks (albeit, that's a good motivator for some men) — it's more about an air of sexiness and confidence that will draw his eyes to you when you enter the room. Embrace your femininity. 8. Honesty If he can't trust you — how can he ever see you as his girlfriend ... and eventual spouse? Keep things open and honest in your relationship. A little white lie over flirty texts with an old guy friend from college can spiral out of control very quickly into a full-blown fight ... and breakup. 9. Independence Dating a driven, passionate woman? So hot. Babysitting a stage five clinger? Not so much. No man wants a girlfriend they have to reassuringly text, call or visit every five minutes. Learn to give your guy his space — or he may break up with you to get it. 10. Supportive As clichéd as it is, some men want to be caretakers... but even the strongest of men want a soft place to fall. He wants to know that you'll support him and stand by him in his life choices, whether it's changing careers or moving to a new city. Show your support in small gestures with a quick "I love you" text when he heads off for his morning commute and listen to him after a hard day's work. Be supportive — but not suffocating. The last thing you want is to remind him too much of his mother.http://nigeria-gist..com/2013/04/the-top-10-qualities-men-are-secretly.html?m=1 |

ABUJA—First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, yesterday, said she died and woke up after seven days during her illness which necessitated her absence from the country for almost three months. In a thanksgiving service held at the State House chapel in Abuja, the First Lady said the prayers of Nigerians sustained her while some people who thought she was dead, started to sell her property. According to her, she underwent seven surgery operations within one month and the doctors had given up hope on her survival. She said: “I remember when Chief Obasanjo was the President of the country, I was close to his late wife, Stella. We worshiped together in this chapel. It was a painful moment for me that time when she (Stella) died and her corpse was brought here. “That was how my corpse would have been brought here. It was not an easy experience for me. I actually died, I passed out for more than a week. My intestine and tummy were opened. “I am not Lazarus but my experience was similar to his. My doctors said all hope was lost. “A black doctor in London who is with us in this service was flown in when the situation became critical. It was God himself in His infinite mercy that said I will return to Nigeria. God woke me up after seven days. “I know that some people somehow leaked the information that I was dead. They are people that I trust and rely on; to them, I was dead and I would never return to the country alive. Some of them even sold my things off. “I won’t say everything here. It is the Lord’s doing that I returned alive. When God says yes, nobody can say no. “People are always afraid of operation (surgery) but in my own case, while my travail lasted, I was begging for it (surgery) after the third operation because I was going to the theatre everyday. “It was God who saw me through. I did eight or nine operations within one month. It was not an easy one. “The day I came back, I said God I have nothing to say, I offer myself to you. I will be doing things that will touch the lives of the less privileged. God gave me second chance “God gave me second chance because I reached there. He knew I have not completed the assignments He gave me, that was why I was sent back”, she said. In his remarks, President Goodluck Jonathan said when he took over the mantle of leadership, some people had predicted that either he or his wife would die in office. While appreciating the large turn out of personalities during the reception, the President said the day was a special one for him and the first family, bearing in mind that rumour of death in his family has always been in the air since he was the deputy governor of BayelsaState. Giving an instance, Jonathan said when his second cousin died, one of his associates wondered aloud how people he knew who were on the verge of becoming successful suddenly die. He said: “I thank God for keeping the life of my wife. If anything had happened to her there would have been many stories and the fake prophets would have had their predictions fulfilled,” he remarked. The reception had in attendance, former heads of state, governors, members of the National Assembly, ministers and other dignitaries. The president then urged Nigerians not to relent in their prayers for the good of the country. “If you love this country, you will not talk about divisions. God willing we will begin to turn things around,” he prayed drawing inspiration from the recent victory of the Super Eagles at the just concluded African Cup of Nations.http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/02/i-was-dead-for-7-days-patience-jonathan/

It is a season to show and celebrate love like never before. A season where people, families, friends and well-wishers spend time together and hang out in some exciting places. Celebrities have different impression about this celebration. While some see it as a very special day, very many others have a different opinion. Here are some of their responses as sampled I don’t believe in lovers’ day — Halima Abubakar What I am going to say may sound strange to you, but that’s who I am. I really don’t believe in Valentine day. I am not just excited about the season. To me, a day should not be what you will make special for somebody you are in love with. Love is not something you can celebrate in a day. Halima’s new look To me, every day of my life I live it for love. That’s my own side of the story. I don’t have a special day for love. Everyday is Valentine day to me. Every day all I need is for somebody to tell me, I love you, not only on the 14th of February. That’s doesn’t mean I am against the celebration. I wish those who like to celebrate it a happy celebration. There is no special hang-out for me on that day. If there is any charity event coming up on that day, I will attend it. Beside this, I am not interested. It means love to me — Chiege Alisigwe To me, valentine day is a time to show love in a special way. That’s why I have decided to spend that day with my lovely husband. I will be having my valentine with my husband. Though I will be opening all my bathroom and bedroom accessories shop very soon, and I am hoping it does not clash with the celebration. I will celebrate the valentine here in Nigeria. I’ll be working in the studio — Iyanya For me, I will be celebrating my own valentine day inside the studio, rehearsing for the concert and my album lunch. The album, Iyanya vs Desire, will be lunched on the 11th of February in Abuja and on the 2nd of March in Lagos. We all know Valentine day means sharing of love and cares to our loved ones. I am busy now and certainly do not have the time to celebrate the day. *Iyanya It’s a normal day to me — Kehinde Bankole To me, there is nothing special about Valentine Day. It is just a normal day like every other day. If I will be at work on that day, I am at work. And if I am at home, I will remain at home. Whatever I set out to do on that day, I will definitely continue with it. I can’t stop my normal daily activities because of Valentine Day celebration. I don’t have any special plan or hang out on that day. There is no special preparation for me. Whatever I find myself doing that day, I will continue with that nothing more. People might choose a day to mark it; I believe they should also use honourable things to mark the celebration. The hype about it is too much, it is not even necessary. They are making it sound as if there is a special thing for that day. To me every day of my life is honourable and I make sure it I so. I don’t think there is something special with 14th of February. Am outside the country to relax myself and to know if there is any international opportunity I can get not mainly for valentine. Will get back to work as soon as am by the ending of this month. It’s confusing to me — Amaka Anioji Well, Valentine Day is confusing to me. But then, we always talk about love during this period. So, I go with the flow, love all the way. Talking about hangout on that day, for me, no. because, I will be working on that day. I have a project I am working on and unfortunately, I am working on the 14th of February which is the valentine’s day. So, there will be no hangout for me on that day. I celebrate my woman everyday — Lawrence Onuzulike Valentine Day doesn’t make much meaning to me because I celebrate my woman everyday. I don’t wait for a particular day to celebrate her. Yes, I believe in love. I still believe that love is the most beautiful thing on earth. I think to some celebrities, Valentine Day is the day to show love while to some, it’s the day to rake in big buck from various performances and appearances at events. On that day, I’ll be on stage with Segun Arinze, Okey Bakassi, Benita Nzeribe hosting Chico Ejiro’s Love Fiesta at the Oriental hotel, Lekki. Val day is worth celebrating — May D It is a very special day and it’s worth celebrating. To me, there is nothing special to celebrate on that day, but I am going to celebrate on stage in Port- Harcout on that day. Though, I am still working on my album which will be released later in the year. For now, I only have a concert in PH for fun seekers. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/02/festival-of-love-what-valentine-day-means-to-celebrities/

This is the story of a young boy whose parents were murdered during 2002 riots in Kaduna. He was aged 11 years at the time. His parents, Mr Austine and Mrs Josephine Moses, were missionaries until they met their untimely death. The boy left his house to play football but returned home to see that all his parents had laboured for had been razed down and he would never see his mother and father again. He was taken to London by his uncle almost immediately after the incident. While in London, he began deploying his football skills. Though his parents were murdered, his passion for football was never killed. He played football for his school and later for a local Tandrige League club until Crystal Palace FC approached him. From that point, his career progressed in leaps and bounds. This player played for England's under 16, 17, 19 and 21 teams between 2005 and 2010 scoring 11 goals for England during this period. He later moved to Wigan Athletic and now he plays for Chelsea. This footballer is called VICTOR MOSES. His story is a touching one, I share his pains. I also share his courage. He had a choice not to step into Nigeria again but he didn't take that option. When the call to serve his fatherland came, Moses dumped England and embraced Nigeria... That is patriotism! Today, we see a Victor Moses bringing joy to every Nigerian including those who may have inspired his parent's death... That is Love! On Sunday, Moses would stand for the National Anthem and pledge allegiance to a country that couldn't defend his parents... That is faith! Moses would deliver the "African Cup of Nations" trophy to Nigeria not minding what had happened in the past... That is forgiveness! Moses rose through bitterness and despair to the limelight of hope and courage. He never gave up on his country. He persevered... That is purpose! If someone like Victor Moses, despite the bitter past, never gave up on Nigeria, then why should we....! ONE NIGERIA http://nigeria-gist..com/2013/02/touching-story-of-victor-moses-that.html?m=1

Love is beautiful and getting married is like a dream come through for many young people but recent studies have shown that over 30 percent of marriages would end in a divorce within the first five years. These divorces and regrets that accompany it can be avoided if people can ask themselves a few questions and answer honestly before they say those two words I DO. If you are in a relationship that could lead to marriage, the list is inexhaustible but here are a few of those questions that could help you decide for real. 1. Does he /she still live at home? Why? 2. Where does he/she work? Is it a dead end job they are pleased with or always complaining about? 3. Have you checked out the family? Are there many red flags in the family you are ignoring? 4. How many past relationships has this person had and why did they end? When listening to his/her explanation, remember there are always two sides to every story. 5. What are his/her goals for the future? Are the goals realistic? Do you believe he/she has the discipline to obtain them? Have you ever seen him /her meet a specific goal?If she/he doesn’t have any, why? 6. . What are his/her friends like? Can you stand them? 7. What religion is this person and what does he or she believe in when it comes to religion? 8. What is the longest time this person has held a job? 9. Does this person always make fun of other people? 10. Are you embarrassed to be seen with him/her in certain social settings? More questions in Part 2 |
Nigerian celebs are now of the culture of delivering their babies abroad. Stars in both the music industry and Nollywood which include the likes of Mercy Johnson, Terry G, Peter Okoye and a host of others had their kids abroad. Mercy Johnson had her baby girl at the John Hopkins hospital in Baltimore, USA. Lara George had her second child in the United States of America. Similarly, Terry G's wife Mimi delivered their first child abroad as well. Nollywood actor, Segun Arinze and his wife had their second child in a Texan hospital. While Peter square and Lola Omotayo welcomed their second child Aliona in San Francisco, United States of America. This isn't only applicable to the celebs, other well-to-do non-celebs also travel out of Nigeria for the delivery of their children. What do you think might be responsible for this new trend? Could it be for adequate health care, pleasure or acquisition of citizenship? |

From CHUKS AKUNNA and WALTER UKAEGBU, Abuja The whereabouts of hospitalised governor of Taraba State, Danbaba Suntai, is shrouded in secrecy to keep away people who might want to harm him, state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said. The party described as “premature” calls for the governor’s return, saying it was “wicked and inconsiderate” to expect a man who survived an air crash to return to work so soon. Making the disclosure at the weekend in Abuja, the state’s PDP Chairman, Hon. Victor Bala Kona, said the rumour that Suntai died in an air crash led to extra-security measures. He alleged that Senator Aishatu Alhassan, and impeached Deputy Governor, Mr. Saleh Usman Danboyi, are persons they strongly believe were working to frustrate the governor’s return. “It is a miracle in the sense that it is not every plane crash in the world that leaves passengers with what we can conveniently call ‘minor bruises,” said Kona, explaining that Suntai was fast recuperating in a private ward. “I spoke with him about 40 minutes ago. As we speak, the Speaker and Chief Judge are with the governor. He is now okay, but staying behind only on the advice of doctors in Germany. The party chairman dismissed calls for the governor’s removal, saying it was unnecessary and adding the the Constitution was clear on the matter. “The constitution is clear on the matter. However, going by what I told you, there would be no need to constitute a medical panel because Governor Suntai will be back soon”, he said. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/cover/why-we-are-hiding-suntai-taraba-pdp/

CALEB AYANSINA ABUJA – The Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion has threatened to breakaway from the Church of England over the decision of the later to drop opposition to gay bishops in civil partnerships. The announcement, from the Church’s House of Bishops, would allow gay clergy to become bishops if they promise to be celibate. The move that did not go down well with Conservative evangelical Anglicans. Arising from its 2013 annual retreat, held at the Ibru Centre, Agbarha Otor, Delta State, the Bishops of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) said they heard with dismay, the news of the recent action of the Church of England House of Bishops. The Primate, Church of Nigeria, the Most Revd Nicholas Okoh said “the decision to permit homosexual clergy in civil partnerships to now be considered for the episcopacy is one step removed from the moral precipice that we have already witnessed in The Episcopal Church (USA) and the Anglican Church of Canada. “When the Church of England failed to exercise its legal and moral right to opt out of the civil partnerships legislation in 2005 warnings were given in England and around the Anglican Communion that this was a first step towards the recognition and institutionalization of behaviour contrary to the plain teaching of scripture and reaffirmed for all Anglicans by the 1998 Lambeth Conference in its Resolution 1.10. “Sadly those warnings were ignored and we now face the next step in a process that could very well shatter whatever hopes we had for healing and reconciliation within our beloved Communion. “We are also grieved by the timing of this decision coming only days before the retirement of Archbishop Rowan Williams and before Dr. Justin Welby becomes the new Archbishop of Canterbury. “We urge the House of Bishops to reconsider their decision so as to allow for a full, prayerful and sober reflection on the call on all clergy, especially bishops, to live holy lives and not encourage what are, at best, morally ambiguous partnerships that make it impossible for a bishop to be a wholesome example to the flock. Especially, since the supposed assurances of celibacy, while perhaps well intentioned, are both unworkable and unenforceable. “As a House of Bishops, while we acknowledge that we all fall short of God’s call to holiness, we dare not compromise the clear teaching of our Lord on faithfulness within Holy Matrimony and chastity outside of it. “Sadly we must also declare that, if the Church of England continues in this contrary direction we must further separate ourselves from it and we are prepared to take the same actions as those prompted by the decisions of The Episcopal Church (USA) and the Anglican Church of Canada ten years ago.” The Church of England has dropped its prohibition on gay clergy in civil partnerships becoming bishops. The issue has split the church since 2003 amid a row over gay cleric Jeffrey John becoming Bishop of Reading. Mr John, now Dean of St Albans, was forced to withdraw from the role shortly after having initially accepted it, following protests from traditionalists. He was also a candidate for Bishop of Southwark in 2010 but was rejected. Evidence emerged that this was because of his sexual orientation.http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/01/homosexuality-nigerian-anglican-church-threatens-to-breakaway/ |

After discovering that they had some misunderstandings and problems in their relationship that needed to be sorted out, couple agreed to take a break and take time apart where they would be free from each other in a ” me time.” During this ” me time”, a guy as expected couldn’t take so much time alone so he got a new catch with whom they started being in a relationship. When his partner(the one with whom they had a break) got to learn about his new relationship, she got mad and called this cheating on her. She is now confused wondering whether she should let this guy back to her life or not. On the other hand, a man says that a break to him meant living their life doing their things and living their life with no one’s interference till they sort out their issues . However, the guy is aplogising to the lady saying that it was a mistake and he wants to take her back!…………Sounds funny. What is your say about this; Does a break mean an end to the relationship? What should a girl do, move on or take back her partner, and was the man right or wrong? |
As the world continued to battle with efforts aimed at finding cure to HIV/AIDS, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced another breakthrough in the treatment of the disease with the discovery of an oral botanical drug, Crofelemer. The new drug is the second botanical, and an orally administered drug to be approved by FDA since 2006. The latest breakthrough owes its success to a pioneering research carried out in the United States by a team of scientists including Nigeria’s Professor Maurice Iwu, an acclaimed pharmacologist and tropical medicine expert. Prof. Maurice Iwu The first botanical drug to be approved in the United States was a topical green tea extract, Veregen, in 2006. Both botanical drugs meet all US pharmaceutical requirements and can be dispensed only by prescription. However, ‘’Crofelemer is the first drug to be approved in the United States to treat HIV -associated diarrhea. It is derived from the latex of the South American sangre de drago tree (dragon’s blood, Croton lechleri). A red, blood-resembling latex leaks from the tree when its bark is cut, and it is this substance that contains the novel polymolecular structure crofelemer, originally developed and standardized by Shaman Pharmaceuticals. Fulyzag is the second botanical drug approved by the agency. The drug’s approval marks an important event in the decades-long history of crofelemer.’’ The latest ‘’Healthnews,’’ in a report entitled, ‘’Nigeria’s Maurice Iwu, others record breakthrough in HIV/AIDS treatment: Amazon tree-derived medicine cleared for usage in HIV patients with diarrhea,’’ stated, ‘’On New Year’s Eve of 2012, the US Food and Drug Administration announced its approval of crofelemer, marking the second time a botanical, and the first time an orally administered botanical, has received drug approval from the Administration. The first botanical drug to be approved in the United States was a topical green tea extract, Veregen in 2006.
