I wasn't given that freedom while growing up. Infact my chances were so limited, i had to socialize with the rest of the world when i left for the university. I don't want to talk about my sec education because i was also severely caged.
My siblings, male and female were treated equally without bias, we were each assigned morning duties. My sis was always in the kitchen with our house helps watching plates and doing all those feminine shits, myself and my little bro handled the sweeping and i washed the cars in the compound even when i didn't have to because it was my duty to do so.
How about our Education? We were all given equal platform to thrive. Today my younger sis is already a chartered accountant. I don't think she sees anything special about being independent and even if she does then she's stupid. My late mum with all her wealth never saw anything special in being an employed woman like why should she?
Why am i saying all this? Women always have a way of attaching importance to silly little things. Being employed and earning an income as a lady should be seen as a normal thing humans do to survive, it shouldn't be aggrandised to a crescendo like its some sort of rocket science or something. I still get the angle you're coming from though.
