Dude, we're talking about clinical depression whereby there's a chemical imbalance in your brain. It's not something you have total control over. Just manning up doesn't take it away. You need to seek medical help cos it's a medical condition.

Go to the hospital and see how many people are battling depression and are responding to treatment. Taking your own life is not the cure rather its a cowardly act that is also very self centered. Depression is something you don't have total control over. There's no such thing as manning up against depression.

A co-staff of the medical doctor, Allwell Orji who jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on Sunday, said he showed no sign of depression when he was at work last Friday.


The colleague at the Mushin branch of the hospital told The Nation on Monday morning that Orji was usually on night duty. It was learnt that the deceased is still single.

Recalled that Orji jumped into the Lagoon at 4:45pm on Third Mainland Bridge while on his way to Victoria Island where he was going to attend a Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) meeting.

Oji, who left from his house at Abule Ijesha in Yaba, was said to have told his driver, Henry Ita, to park his Nissan Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) marked LND476EE at the Adeniji Adele end of the bridge on the excuse that he wanted to pee. As he came down, the doctor was said to have climbed the bridge’s rail guide and jumped into the ocean.

Search for Orji’s body by officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) and security agents is still on.

A High Court sitting in Koton-Karfi in Kogi on Monday sentenced a herbalist, Ibrahim Muhammed, to death by hanging for murdering two brothers.

In his judgement, the Presiding Judge, Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye, who sentenced the convict to death described his act as “high level of exceptional wickedness”. .

Omolaye-Ajileye said the convict had corroborated the prosecution’s submission that he poisoned Mohammed Kudu Abubakar and Umar Tanko Abubakar after snatching their car. .

And, in order to avoid any trace of his brutal and inhuman act, the accused buried the dead bodies of Tanko and Mohammed in his compound. Unfortunate for him, since nothing is hidden under the sky, nemesis caught up with him.
