I got flagged down this afternoon by VIO in the FCT. One of them asked me for my papers which I handed to him. After inspection, he asked if I had a valid driver's licence, I replied yes. I made attempt to pull it out from my wallet but noticed that the Officer had walked away from my car. He met his other colleagues who were seated and then signalled me to join them.

Got down from my car and realised that I was before a mobile court. My offence, as read out to me, was that I was not wearing a facemask inside my car. I explained that I have one in the car which I wear whenever I step out of my vehicle. They refused to listen to me and went ahead to fine me the sum of five hundred and fifty naira only. I was given a paper which did not carry the details of how much I paid. I insisted that I needed a receipt for the fine which I paid. After much reluctance, one of the VIO rudely scribbed the amount they collected from me on the paper.

The mobile court judge was rude to me and others whose case he heard while my Ordeal lasted.

I guess that the time has come for everyone to wear his/her facemask at all times irrespective of where one is.

Has anyone had a similar ordeal?

You only wear a face mask when you step out of the car, yet you failed to do so when you went to meet them? What if these officers are carriers? With all due respect sir, you deserved to be fined.

I am only saying this does not work but the probability of the number of people who will take time to read all the articles is very very low.

Yes, you may rank higher but people hardly have time for long stories, this is the trend that TheCable, Punch Newspapers, and Linda Ikeji are adopting, except when Punch is doing an exclusive or investigation piece, its piece is less than 200-350 words in all.

We need to be able to study our audience and readers, if you are targeting then you need to know we are not patient enough for long stories, keep it short, catchy and gather your thoughts together is 200-500 words not stories of mongo park.

As I said, I may be wrong but base on the little I know and read online, keeping g it short is wisdom in my opinion

I have read more than 10,000 words article. Yes! Anyone can read that much if it's information he found valuable. That's why you need to target the right audience.

The only thing that would make someone shy away from your article, especially your target audience is if your formatting is poor, or you've yet to master the craft of hooking your readers.

When you make your article interesting, small paragraphs for easy assimilation, lots of visuals, subheadings, and bullet points, you find yourself reducing bounce rate.

But if your article is not properly formatted, with lots of grammar errors and so on! Trust me, no one will read it.

3 weeks is too short to expect instant growth, unless you've started massive marketing like social media marketing, ads, etc.

If your aim is organic traffic - Google. You might need to wait much longer and create more amazing contents.

Building a successful blog is not easy, you need lots and lots of patient.

Before you start a blog, ask yourself if you really have the experience, knowledge and what it takes.

You have been blogging for two years, what growth have you seen so far? How is your traffic? Do you have loyal readers who always look out for your contents?

If you've been blogging for two years and your answer to my questions is NO.. Then you need to build yourself more through education.

Learn what contents works, understand your ideal audience, and master your marketing strategies. It's a long road, but blogging in 2020 is different from years ago. The ball has changed.

Do you know the recommended words for a blog is within 300-500 words? Have you read or heard about keep it short and simple? (KISS). When you write a whopping 2000 words, your bounce rate will be in competition with the village people.

Most of you don't know what you even write, you all just copy and paste without checking

You're misinformed madam, and I would love to correct that mindset. The length of any article is largely dependant on the niche.

Secondly, the more words you can chunk out, the better chance you have ranking on search engine result.

People can swallow a 10,000 words article provided it's a valuable information, and something they are interested in.

Bounce rate only happens when you're targeting the wrong audience and expecting them to swallow information they have no interest in.

We have moved passed the era of 300 or 500 words article, especially if you want to stay ahead of the competition.
