Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has inaugurated 2,210 newly-recruited food vendors to boost the home-grown school feeding programme initiative of the government. Oyetola stated that his government resolved to continue the school feeding programme so that “efforts at making education accessible and pleasurable for our children will not be defeated.” The governor also distributed cooking utensils, uniforms, feeding bowls among other materials to the new school food vendors to ease their services. Oyetola who spoke at the flag-off ceremony in Osogbo, the state capital on Monday, said his administration was giving a boost to the Osun Elementary School Feeding and Health Programme (O’MEALS) initiative by empowering the newly-recruited food vendors to deliver service in a professional, efficient and effective manner. He commended the O’MEALS management for putting in place a transparent procedure to select the new food vendors, noting that the government is empowering the vendors by procuring cooking utensils and other materials through a soft loan from the bank. Oyetola disclosed that the bank loan will be repaid by the state government in order not to put any burden on the vendors, noting that the welfare of all food vendors in the state is paramount to his administration. He, however, urged the vendors to reciprocate the government’s gesture by providing good services through the serving of required quality and quantity of food to the pupils. “You must not compromise the prescribed rules and regulations of service, including acceptable hygiene rules, general condition of the kitchen and neatness of the cooking environment,” the governor said. The governor also revealed that he had directed officials of the State Water and Environmental Sanitation (WES) to visit the cooking sites of the vendors to check their level of neatness. “We can neither afford to give our children unhygienic food nor supply them with nutrient-deficient meals. Therefore, anyone of you found wanting in the delivery of their services will be sanctioned.” The caterers were recruited under the Osun Elementary School Feeding and Health Programme (O’MEALS) as part of the government efforts to promote quality, functional and qualitative education and as well help to make education more attractive and appealing to the pupils in the state. The recruitment of the new food vendors across the 30 Local Government Areas and One Area Office was an initiative conceived by the government to augment parents’ care-giving efforts and essentially to produce children who are “physically and mentally balanced.”

By: Phrank SHAIBU O mischief, thou art swift to enter in the thoughts of desperate men! - William Shakespeare These are indeed perilous times. Indeed, desperate men are in the streets with arms stretched to do evil. These are the days of long knives. And enemies, pretending to be friends are frantically working to pull down the apple carte. The target in this interplay of forces is the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, whose stay in office, many believe has come to an end. Following the perception that Magu's tenure may be over , lobby groups have sprung up seeking to get a replacement for the EFCC boss, whose tenure has been acclaimed to be successful. Potential successors have reached out to godfathers. Some have also extended lobby to Western governments in the belief that the position could be swung in their favor. And no one should ordinarily begrudge anybody intent at aspiring to be the next chairman of the anti graft agency. Under Magu, the commission's image and stature has shot up significantly, both locally and internationally. Inter agency collaboration, including with the FBI and Interpol, alongside other renowned world anti crime bodies has reached its zenith. Above all, President Buhari's anti corruption posture has received unprecedented boost. It is therefore expected that many people should be interested in the EFCC top job. Neither should it come as a surprise that intrigues, manipulation, propaganda, falsehood and outright mischief will be deployed as tools to clinch the job. And, because we are in Nigeria, it may be appropriate to also add the use of the marabout, juju priests and other diabolical practices in the mix. Beyond the resort to mysticism and metaphysics, armchair critics, columnists, so called public affairs analysts and other paid writers have been hired to do two things: pull down Magu and project the need for a new helmsman. Suddenly, it does not matter what fundamental successes have been achieved, nor the fact that for the first time, Nigeria's war against corruption is now taken seriously in the comity of nations. The piece, "Magu - Time To Return To Base", may be classified as belonging largely to this latter category. Except that Ben Okezie is a respected voice in security circles. It is therefore difficult to conclude that it was written out of ignorance. Neither could we describe the piece as the handiwork of a paid hand and inspired by one of those desperate to be appointed chairman of EFCC. The innuendoes and mischief in the article speaks volumes about the motive for the writeup. Undoubtedly, the said piece must have been sponsored by someone who may have benefited from Magu's benevolence. It may well be the handiwork of a fifth columnist. Bottom line is that the author does not mean well in canvassing that the acting chairman of EFCC should return to his "professional" job as a policeman, having "excelled" as a "General" in the war against corruption. Our dear Ben Okezie argued, albeit naively that considering monumental achievements recorded by the EFCC under Magu's watch that it was best for him to "leave the stage when the "ovation is loudest" rather than seek a second tenure that may end in ignominy. Said he: "In spite of these criticisms Magu has continued to be acknowledged. Only few weeks to the end of his four years term, the Africa Union ( AU) the umbrella body of all African countries honoured the EFCC headman with the Special African Anti-Corruption Crusader award from the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council, (AU-ECOSOCC). About the time of that very honour the Presidential Committee against Corruption, PACAC with Professor Itse Sagay added its voice in commending Magu for his outstanding performance in tracing and recovering stolen assets. "As it is, these days ovation has been ringing at the 7th floor of the impressive headquarters of EFCC in Abuja -the edifice Magu helped to actualize its completion. In all of these, there is no doubt that the ovation Magu has been receiving is as a result of noticeable performances of the commission under his leadership". Yet, same person counselled: "Wisdom advises that a leader should step down while the ovation is loudest or at least loud. As a General sent to the corruption war front, it will not be strange if at the point when successes has been actualised the General is recalled back to base. The reason for this is that the base wouldn’t want the General to fall casualty along the line. After fighting corruption war for four years, the government may not be helping Magu if it insists that he must continue to fight on the same war front. “ "Magu having established a solid profile for himself should resist tenure elongation and stand out as one Nigerian who after performing in an assignment stepped aside to prepare himself to take up another assignment. His immediate constituency the Nigeria Police needs his wealth of experience". What a puerile argument.. How do you reward excellence with a sack? Could such a piece of advice come from a sincere heart or thought? If Magu's sterling achievements could be so acknowledged, why would he in another breath canvass for him to return to the police? Only a devious mind could have conjured such evil. Definitely, he does not mean well. Truth is that the anti corruption war is far from being won. There are still many hurdles to cross. So, the wise thing to do, if any one is sincere, should be to advise President Buhari should retain Magu as the EFCC czar. Otherwise, the zest and laurels secured so far may be lost or completely erased. Undoubtedly, the suggestion that Magu should return to the barracks awaiting redeployment by the police authority is as banal as the mind that dreamt it in the first place. It could not be the best reward for a man that worked assiduously to raise the EFCC to such enviable heights. But, the truth, which most people are unwilling to face is the question of the expiration of Magu's tenure. Could it really be said to have expired or expiring? Could a man whose original tenure was never confirmed be said to have served out his term? This is why we argue that our author is driven by mischief. Nigerians would remember that Magu has been in the saddle only in acting capacity. Efforts by Buhari to have his appointment confirmed during the 8th National Assembly were not successful, probably because the leadership of the Senate was at daggers drawn with Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). So, if we concede that despite functioning in an acting capacity, he was able to shake off the obvious limitations to perform remarkably, should it not be appropriate to have him confirmed so as to enable him run the anti corruption war without hindrances? Should Nigerians and the world not be interested in seeing how he would deliver, having formally been empowered to do the job? Sadly, when we are desperate or have succumbed to the whims of a cartel, we are unable to reason correctly. Instead, we are driven by desires, propelled by mischief. Its difficult to divorce this piece in question from these primordial emotions. *Shaibu, writes from Abuja Cc: Lalasticlala, mynd44, seun

KOGI GUBERS - PDP CHANCES EVAPORATE AS AUTHORITIES CONFIRM FLAG BEARER'S CERTIFICATE A FORGERY Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1147/2019 Femi Joseph v Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and two others is a suit climbing through the Federal High Court. The other two defendants are the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the candidate of the PDP in Saturday's Kogi State governorship polls, Engr. Musa Wada. This suit was instituted by way of an Originating Summons at the Federal High Court, Abuja on 27th September 2019, shortly after the publication of Forms CF001 (Particulars of persons seeking election to office) of all candidates in the Kogi gubers by INEC. The Claimant by virtue of Section 31(5) & (6) of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended) claims he reasonably believes that the information supplied by the PDP Candidate, Musa Atayi Wada in both his Form CF001 and the attached First School Leaving Certificate as to his primary school education were false. He therefore prayed the Court to determine that the information was indeed false and, on that basis, disqualify the Plaintiff from contesting as the candidate of the PDP in the upcoming November 16th, 2019 gubernatorial elections. While the PDP as a Party has responded to the said suit, Engr. Musa Wada has shied away from debunking the claims. Initially, this case was merely a bomb which may or may not detonate. Recent events have now lit its fuse and a detonation of PDP's and Wada's electoral chances is no longer a question of 'if' but of 'when'. New documents have emerged direct from relevant authorities which prove that the primary school certificate submitted by Wada to INEC is not only a forgery but an amateurish one. In other words, the dormant bomb has suddenly become a ticking time-bomb. We had a panel of lawyers review the case filed by the Plaintiff, the defence by the PDP and all old and new documents in support. There is no doubt about it, the Plaintiff's case and the available proof is certainly strong. Like we said esrlier, it is now a question of 'when' not 'if' Wada and the PDP will be disqualified for submitting forgeries to INEC. In interpreting the laws on this matter, the Supreme Court has certainly set a precedent of intolerance with aspirants who forge documents to contest elections. In the case of Engr. Mustapha Yunusa Maihaja vs Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam (SC. 758/2016)[2017] NGSC 17 (2 JUNE 2017) (SC. 758/2016) [1960] NGSC 1 (01 JUNE 2017), the apex court spoke directly to the situation at hand in Kogi: 'The intention of the Constitution is that anyone who has presented a forged certificate to INEC should stand automatically disqualified. No decent system or polity should condone, or through judicial policy and decisions, encourage the dangerous culture of forging certificates with impunity to seek electoral contest.' One thing is certain now. Engr. Musa Wada is finding it difficult to defend himself. He is yet to respond to the suit and the time for such a response has expired. It can be safely assumed that facts undenied have been admitted by him. when the time within which to do so as ordered by the Court has expired. With the Supreme Court's position in mind, a causal examination of the Primary School Certificate quickly show some serious, and criminal, discrepancies. Wada’s signature on the FSLC which he allege signed in 1975 is the same as his current adult signature appended on his form CF001 to INEC. The serial number does not belong to the class he claims to have graduated with, meaning Wada's is a forgery. The case will come up again on the 20th day of November 2019. The PDP and Engr. Musa Wada face disqualification no matter how the election goes on the 16th. This means that the both the party and her candidate will still face hurdles even after the elections. Their right to even challenge the outcome at the tribunal is now riding on the outcome of this case which claims they ought not to have participated in the election in the first place. Saturday November 16 is a certainty. The same cannot be said of the labours of the PDP and her supporters. They will be troubled by the uncertainties flowing from their flag-bearer's conduct for a long time to come. Cc: Lalasticlala, mynd44, Seun

By: Phrank Shaibu Love him or hate him, one argument that cannot be contested is the fact that Ibrahim Magu, the Ag. Chairman of Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has taken the anti corruption fight in Nigeria to hitherto uncharted levels where many people thought could never be attained or that no one would have the courage to go in the war against corruption. Deconstructing corruption fight in Nigeria is a binding moral duty for common good and it requires seeing beyond political affiliations, standpoint, preference or ideology. In Nigeria, Ibrahim Mustapha Magu, is the scourge of corrupt Nigerians, no matter your status or engagement and this has become worthy of public analysis and historic documentation whether aligned to the ruling party or not. Infact, l had taken a long break from commenting on public discourse that will conflict with my political opposition status but if truth be told, the fight against corruption is for a better Nigeria and it is a collective pursuit that deserves objective periodic review on how those charged with such responsibilities are conducting the affairs of government agencies they manage. Thus, my decision to research on the EFCC and its affairs is a call to duty as public analyst and it changes nothing about my political attachment and roles played as polical campaign spokesperson. Specifically, about four years ago, on the 9th of November 2015, President Mohammadu Buhari sacked the then EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde and promptly replaced him with Ibrahim Mustapha Magu, the next day, November 10. Under Magu, the mention of EFCC became the beginning of the endgame for corrupt public and private officers including individuals who had carried on for years as though they were above the law. Ibrahim Mustapha Magu, the poster boy of the anti corruption crusade which has become the signature policy engagement of the President Mohammadu Buhari administration and has attracted both continental and global commendations for tackling what has been described across international platforms, as the number one factor militating against the growth and development of African Nations and economies. The man Ibrahim Magu, prior to his appointment, then an assistant commissioner of police was one of the early recruits into the anti-graft agency in the dizzying days of its pioneer chairman Malam Nuhu Ribadu. In 2015, Magu before becoming the EFCC boss was a member of the committee set up by the Buhari administration to probe the procurement of arms in the Armed Forces from 2007 to 2015 which eventually uncovered a cesspool of corruption that shocked the nation and still continues to reverberate with new and astonishing revelations. Most likely, given Magu's perceived incorruptible posture, he was made the head of the sensitive Economic Governance Unit (EGU), which handled investigations of senior public officials and as head of the EGU, spearheaded some of the investigations that included the alleged involvement of former Senate President Bukola Saraki in the collapse of Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria; and James Ibori, former Governor of Delta State, who at that time was serving jail term in United Kingdom for money laundering. Mags, also played a major role in the investigation and eventual jailing of former Managing Director of the Bank of the North, Shettima Mohammed Bulama, said to be his own brother in law. It was widely believed that after Ribadu as was removed as EFCC boss in controversial circumstances by former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, Magu was also targeted for redeployment by new EFCC boss, Farida Waziri, who took over in 2008 and was said to be uncomfortable with his presence over issues surrounding loyalty. Magu’s troubles crystalized when he was accused of illegally keeping case files of top politicians being investigated by the commission in August 2008. His house in Abuja was searched and his property, including a laptop computer with sensitive files, was carted away by officials of the EFCC at the behest of Mrs. Waziri. He was then redeployed to the police after days of detention with nothing incriminating found against him and later suspended from the force, without salaries for several months. But like the cat with nine lives, Magu was brought back to EFCC, when his old colleague Ibrahim Lamorde was appointed as substantive EFCC boss in 2012. For those that understood how the mind of the new President Buhari works, the prediction tha Magu will emerge as new EFCC boss could not have been tough. No doubt, President Buhari needed a no-nonsense administrator to give bite to its agenda on fight against corruption, after his 2015 victory in the presidential polls. For Buhari, there was no better man to fit the bill than the incorruptible Magu, who quickly replaced Lamorde. Magu, a thoroughbred EFCC man swung into action as the new anti graft agency boss. Already he had a 12-year career track record in the commission before the latest appointment and had worked as the Head of EFCC Administration and Finance in 2003, was the Supervising officer, Head of Administration at special Task Force organized by the Nigerian President in 2006, served as Deputy head of Police department in Ekiti State in 2009 and worked in the Special Investigation Bureau of Anambra State police. Thereafter, he returned to EFCC and kept working in different departments across the country, attending seminars, gaining new knowledge in financial investigation spheres and collaborating with international police departments, including the famous Scotland Yard amongst others. There was never really any ambuiguity that Ibrahim Magu was President Buhari's preferred choice for the EFCC Chair and his appointment, which came six months after the President's inauguration, would have come a bit sooner, if not for the fact that there was need to clear the small matter of CCT Chairman, Danladi Umar and the Ibrahim Lamorde connection which probably meant proverbially killing two birds with one stone, by clearing the way for Magu's appointment in an acting capacity and commencing the Senator Bukola Saraki Code of Conduct trial. This beginning was to however shape the next four years of Magu's tenure and ensure that he remained in an acting capacity till the end of the 8th Senate which consistently refused to confirm his appointment under the leadership of Saraki as Senate President. Reacting to the refusal of the Senate to confirm him, Magu simply said that his confirmation was rejected by the Senate because he is doing a good job but added that his non-confirmation will not stop him for spearheading the fight against corruption. “I don’t think it (non-confirmation) has given the public a cause for concern. I think it is a lot of encouragement. The fact that I am not confirmed shows I am working. Really. “In the anti-corruption environment, if they rush to confirm you, it means you are not doing your work properly. No problem. Maybe the others are happy. Because a number of the people we are investigating are also in the national assembly". “I cannot be distracted with those things. Nobody can purchase me, I cannot compromise what I am doing,” he had declared at that time True to his words, Magu's Acting tenure has perhaps turned out to be the most robust and achievement filled stint since the creation of the Anti-corruption agency. It is little wonder therefore that despite his non-confirmation, President Buhari, who is the ultimate authority in deciding his fate, has not only kept faith with Magu, but encouraged and supported him and the EFCC beyond the kind of relationship that had existed in the past between the agency and the government. The symbiosis between President Buhari and Ibrahim Magu is almost kinetic. This relationship has helped in fostering an anti-corruption agenda, which has been hailed across the continent and international fora as a bold and necessary strategy for African countries to imbibe. Therefore, in defining the next phase of the anti corruption agency in President Buhari's second term, the wise conjecture would be that the President, who has displayed a solid conservatism in retaining those he believes in, to work with him, is also the appointing authority with the power under the law to determine who spearheads his anti-corruption crusade, going forward. Magu, who has already set a kind of record as the longest serving head of the EFCC since it's creation in 2003, had also in this time, positioned the agency as one of the most vibrant government institutions in Nigeria, by laying down very stringent and oftentimes unpalatable prevention strategies as a cardinal agenda in the fight against corruption. The fact that Magu is winning the war in his capacity as EFCC boss is clearly manifest in the groundswell of public perception and participation achieved through the various preventive initiatives designed towards public re-orientation and enlightenment. These programmes include: The Nigerian Women Against Corruption Project, NWAC, which was developed to increase women participation in the fight against corruption. Also, the Clean Hands Campaign for Children, designed primarily to promote the values of integrity and probity among the younger generation is gaining acceptance. Other initiatives under the Magu administration that are working for increased public participation in the fight against corruption include the Creative Youth Initiative Against Corruption, CYIAC, conceived to give children a platform to express themselves using arts and various other platforms of talents to speak against corruption; the Integrity Club in secondary schools and tertiary institutions across the country, established to further deepen the participation of young people in the anti-graft war, and of course the quarterly awareness road walks in collaboration with various stakeholders across the country, the numerous anti-corruption programmes aired regularly on leading radio and television networks across Nigeria, and the robust engagement and utilization of the various social media platforms as channels for mobilization and information dissemination. EFCC under Magu has also embraced pro-active re-orientation strategies including musical concerts staged to draw more attention to the Commission’s anti-corruption messages as well as partnerships with civil society organizations, organized labour unions and stakeholders in the public and private spheres, Town hall interactive meetings with community religious leaders and various groups within communities in the grassroots. These are in addition to the creation of more offices across the country to complement those in the six geo-political zones of the country in the last four years. In addition, the EFCC as part of its reforms to address emerging challenges in criminality has strengthened its enforcement mandate, created additional departments and sections including the Asset Forfeiture Department, the Forensic Department and the Public Affairs Department. The commission may not have achieved all that is needed to kill corruption in Nigeria but within the last four years, it has conducted massive recruitment exercises across all cadres with the newly recruited officers in the Detective Superintendent, Detective Inspector and Detective Assistant cadres, for the purpose of closing the gap of shortage of officers and the successful candidates were trained with the best of facilities at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna. The icing on the cake of Magu's successful completion of the EFCC new head office building whose construction was abandoned over the years. Furthermore, initiatives such as the whistle-blowing policy of the federal government initiated in December, 2016, primarily to support the fight against financial crimes and corruption, through increasing exposure of financial crimes and monetary reward for whistle-blowers has also encouraged citizens to volunteer information which has lead to the recovery of stolen funds, especially with the added boost of creating the EFCC corruption reporting platforms through which individuals have volunteered information that led to the recovery of billions of dollars hidden away by looters. Major achievements through this scheme include; the discovery of $9.8M hidden in the slums of Sabon Tasha, in Kaduna State and said to belong to Dr. Andrew Yakubu, a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation; the interception by EFCC operatives of the sum of¦ 250 million, stashed away in coloured sacks at the Kaduna International Airport, which was to be smuggled through the airport; the interception of 250million in various currencies at a popular textile market in Lagos; as well as another sum of 500million uncovered in a shopping mall located in the high- brow area of Victoria Island, also in Lagos. The discovery and recovery of a stash of cash in local and foreign currencies in an apartment on the seventh floor of Osborne Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos, through information provided by a whistle-blowers was a major breakthrough which opened the way for the implementation of the Technical Objective Number Four of the National Anti- Corruption Strategy, which emphasized the enforcement and sanctions for corrupt offenders. Many milestones have also been achieved in tackling sectoral corruption in areas like the judiciary, the oil and gas industry, the military, the secular society and even the civil service and the commission, has carried out major arrests using aggressive and diligent prosecution of corruption cases in courts throughout Nigeria, secured some highbrow and distinctive convictions in line with the National Anti- Corruption Strategy objective which places emphasis on enforcement and sanctions. Under Ibrahim Magu's acting tenure, the EFCC has not only recrafted the anti corruption narrative and set a standard for law enforcement agencies and criminal prosecution within and outside of the country, it has also shored up global confidence as several donor organizations and foreign law enforcement agencies have willingly partnered with the EFCC in opening fresh areas of collaboration. There is no doubt that Ibrahim Magu has displayed courage and dedicated leadership in the fight against corruption and his committed zeal has ensured the stellar achievements the EFCC has accomplished in the last four years. Even though l am not a member of the ruling party, the obvious expectation and conclusion now of any good citizen, is that if all these can be achieved by Magu in an acting capacity, imagine the comprehensive and expansive landmarks that will be accomplished if President Buhari forwards his name again to the 9th Senate and Ibrahim Magu is finally confirmed as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio has to decide whether to resign his recent appointment and pursue his ambition to return to the senate or to remain as a minister. His dilemma follows the ruling of Appeal Court ordering a rerun of the national assembly election in Essien Udim local government area. The Appeal Court sitting in Calabar, ruled that a fresh election be conducted within 90 days in Essien Udim local government, as a result of irregularities which both petitione and respondent parties admitted in their separate addresses. Although the ruling was clearly in favour of the minister, his supporters found it hard to celebrate because the odds are stacked against their principal. Going into the rerun, Akpabio is expected to register a minimum lead of 38,056 margin to upturn the election of Senator Chris Ekpenyong. Furthermore, the minister is expected to resign his appointment under the law to be eligible to contest election. This is clearly not what the former governor wants. A university lecturer and political analyst, Dr. Chris Inyang, believes Akpabio will rather ignore the ruling than take a chance with an election he is clearly losing. "Akpabio should not make the same mistake the former managing director of NDDC, Mr. Nsima Ekere, made. It is obvious that the present assignment Akpabio is handling presents him with great latitude to expand his influence in the Niger Delta region. Going back to the senate will be an anticlimax and then Akwa Ibom state would have lost out of NDDC twice", he said. He further pointed out that Nsima left NDDC in spite of an extension of his board's tenure from a few months to six years and failed in his ambition to become governor. This time, Akpabio may resign to face a definite loss notwithstanding the outcome of the rerun in Essien Udim. Meanwhile, the incumbent, Senator Chris Ekpenyong maintains that he is not perturbed by the ruling and assured his supporters to remain calm while a date for the election is fixed. “I am very prepared to defeat him again in Essien Udim, let’s go to the field, he has to resign first as a minister in line with the provisions of the constitution,” he declared. "God gave me victory to salvage my people from deceit and poor leadership, and nothing has spoilt that victory,” Sen. Ekpenyong restated. He said with election in one local government area only, all focus and attention would be given to the election and there would be no room for manipulation and rigging, as was noted in the area based on reports of observers and the electoral umpire. “He brought war and federal might, but the people’s might and God’s mighty hand gave me victory. This is another opportunity for the gap of that victory to be expanded,” Senator Ekpenyong added. It was gathered that results obtained from the other nine local government areas show that Senator Chris Ekpenyong leads with 114, 973 votes while Akpabio has 76,917. Akpabio who lost the election to Chris Ekpenyong by 83 ,158 votes to 118 ,215, had approached the Appeal Court to seek the order of the court for the illegal figures he allocated to himself, after losing to Chris Ekpenyong in 8 of the 10 local government areas of the district. The Independent National Electoral Commission had confirmed that only 19,455 voters were accredited in Essien Udim local government area during the election and had rejected the illegally manufactured scores that Akpabio appropriated for himself. This INEC decision was upheld by the National Assembly Elections Petitions tribunal in Uyo, which decided that the 61,329 votes claimed by Akpabio were inconsistent with the number of accredited voters during the February 23 elections. In a related development, the Appeal Court has also ordered that a fresh election be conducted in Essien Udim local government area for the House of Representatives Seat between the incumbent Nsikak Ekong of the PDP and Emmanuel Akpan of the APC. Ekong will also go into the election with the lead garnered from his victory in the other two local government areas of the federal constituency, Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara.

The leadership of the APC in Kogi State has cautioned the PDP candidate in the November 16th governorship election, Engr Musa Wada and his supporters against the use of violence. The warning, the party said, is coming on the heels of the PDP's sponsorship of hoodlums to vandalise posters, billboards and other campaign materials used for yesterday's campaign flag off in Idah which the entire town on a lock down. "It was clear that the turnout of party supporters and the people of Kogi East to receive the Governor at Idah yesterday was devastating for the opposition but we caution them to avoid politics of violence" The ruling party said the PDP is jittery because of the massive turn out it recorded on Saturday which signifies the wholesome acceptance of the policies and programmes of the Governor Yahaya Bello led administration in the state. It therefore urged security agencies, good governance advocates, civil society and other non governmental organisations, faith based bodies and other interest groups to take note of the violence being meted the APC and its supporters by the PDP and its candidate. As far as APC is concerned, November 16 poll is about efforts of its candidate, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his deputy, Hon Edward Onoja to bring about socioeconomic and infrastructural development for Kogi State, against the interest of the PDP to solidify the family and ethnic ventures that they run. It would be recalled that Governor, as part of activities to flag off the APC campaign, performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Idah - Agenebode bridge to directly connect the North and Southern Nigeria; commissioned new laboratories, a clinic and a water factory at the state College of Health Sciences and Technology in Idah. The Governor, his deputy, Hon Edward Onoja and the Secretary to the State Government, Folashade Arike Ayoade were conferred with Chieftaincy titles by the Attach Igala, HRM Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II at his palace in Idah. cc: lalasticlala, mynd44, seun

The Federal Government is set to construct major roads and bridges across Niger state, the state government has announced. The Federal Executive Council approved, among others, the award of contracts for the construction of two bridges at Kontagora-Rijau road at the cost of N1.12billion. This was stated by the Minister of State for Works and Housing, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu while briefing State House Correspondents on the outcome of the maiden FEC meeting held yesterday at the Presidential Council Chamber, Abuja. According to the Minister, the Kontagora-Bangi road was also pencilled down and construction of the road will cost N20.3 billion, with a completion period of 48 months. Further, the Minister added that the council also approved N10.6billion for the construction of Baro Port road in Niger state. We express gratitude to Federal Government but especially to the people of Niger State who added their voices to that of the state government to arrest the attention of the Federal Government. Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, the Niger state governor had registered the people’s discontent to the Federal Government, inviting them to act. In recent times, the people of Niger state have experienced no small hardship as rain and ceaseless movement of heavy-duty vehicles have badly damaged the roads. This has made the people place the state government under pressure Source: https://www.inoutnaija.com/2019/09/federal-government-to-constructs.html cc: lalasticlala, seun, mynd44

History may be repeating itself as an Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, has been caught while allegedly attempting to have a sexual affair knowledge of one of his students. This is barely six months after an Obafemi Awolowo University lecturer, Richard Akindele, was sacked and subsequently sent to 2 years in prison for demanding sex in exchange for marks from a female student, InoutNaija reports. A 29-second video clip which has gone viral on social media shows an Accounting department lecturer (yet to be identified), naked while some female students of the varsity who were believed to have laid siege to the residence of the female student were seen dragging the embattled lecturer out of a room. Investigations revealed that the lady’s boyfriend and his friends had informed the lady to play along with the lecturer when he made advances at her in exchange for marks. Judging by the claim of a voice in the video, the scene of the incident was the state capital, Ado Ekiti. According to the video, an audible voice chatted:- “This is a lecturer of EKSU. He wants to have S*x with a student. The voice said a lot of unprintable things laying bare the escapades of the randy lecturer. While making a mockery and torturing the lecturer, one of the boys was seen pressing a powered electronic device on his body to shock. The lecturer was screaming and begging the students for mercy. He was not spared as he was beaten black and blue by the students when he was trying to resist being pulled out from the room naked. Meanwhile, Vanguard reports that the female student was the one who uploaded the video clip on her Whatsapp status, captioning it “I am not sending oh, he wants to f**k fresh pu**y. Some students of the institution who spoke with Vanguard confirmed the identity of the lecturer in the video as a popular person, though expressed their reservations about act. They, however, revealed that the lecturer was not alone in the game of intimidating female students to have rump with them. According to them, most lecturers in the institution were in the habit of abusing and taking undue advantage of ladies hence the need for investigation into the matter and sanction the lecturer. They alleged that there are several cases of such in the school but most victims were not bold enough to expose the act. Efforts by InoutNaija to contact the lecturer was unsuccessful as his line was switched off. However, the EKSU authorities and police had said they were not aware of the incident. China Railway Construction Corporation Corporation (International) Nigeria Limited (CRCC-Nigeria) has lost a contract to rehabilitate and construct a 560-kilometre standard gauge railway “for breach of confidentiality” in Ghana. This is coming following a publication by a Nigerian news platform comparing the cost of a rail construction by CRCC in Nigeria with Ghana. According to the country’s minister of railways development, Joe Ghartey, this CRCC, as a Party to the MoU, has failed to act in good faith, having breached the confidentiality clause as spelt out. “Each Party agrees that the terms of MoU and all previous and subsequent discussions, documents and information exchanged pursuant to or otherwise related hereto will be treated in confidence and will not be disclosed except as required by law and otherwise”, the MOU reads. The minister in his statement further said CRCC was yet to submit any “report of feasibility studies to the Ministry of Railways Development, let alone the project cost estimate.”He added that the publication by the Nigerian news platform “contains a lot of factual inaccuracies.” CRCC had expressed interest in supporting the Ministry to develop and modernize Ghana’s railway network, particularly the Trans-ECOWAS line, which runs along the coast between Aflao, on the border with Togo, and Elubo, on the border with Cote d’Ivoire. Meanwhile, an attempt to blackmail Nigeria’s ex-minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has been uncovered by a group, Nigerians for Good Governance, NGG. The group, according to its coordinator, Ahmed Adamu, claimed some persons who are not happy with the rapid infrastructure growth of Nigerian under President Muhammadu Buhari are poised to paint Amaechi as corrupt and by extension, Mr Buhari. “We can confirm that some persons are not happy with the speed at which Rotimi Amaechi is achieving some of the infrastructural projects of President Buhari and they have resort to blackmail. We know how Mr Amaechi is bringing to life several rail projects across the country, these they are not happy about. “We urge Nigerians to ignore this blackmail plot. We know their game and thanks to the Ghanaian minister, he has revealed that CRCC never submitted any feasibility studies to the Ministry of Railways Development let alone the project cost estimate.” “Since there is no cost by CRCC, how come they are brandishing figures about? It is a clear attempt to blackmail Mr Amaechi,” Source: https://www.inoutnaija.com/2019/06/how-crcc-lost-railway-contract-in-ghana.html CC: lalasticlala, seun, mynd44

I remembered the first day I said I LOVE YOU to my dad. So it was in 2016 when I was in service, I had just gotten a PPA and trying to settle everything before going back to Ibadan and telling mum SEE YOU NEXT YEAR, cus I never had plans on going back home again. Called dad that he should send the money he had promised me to set up my accommodation and furnish it. Right from the Uni. I hated sharing my space so I stayed alone or at my 'then GF's place'. Dad kept on delaying and time was going. We were given 2 weeks break after the usual 3weeks + NYSC camping, and a week out of the 2 weeks had already passed. Dad hasn't still sent the money, out of annoyance (very wicked annoyance from the pit of hell) I composed a very aggressive text message and sent to my dad.... Damnnnnn! Till today I never knew what the hell got into me that gave me that liver to send such message to my dad. Before I continue, lemme say this, dad wasn't the gentle type, he had military training, while binding us up, his slap was a slap you wouldn't want to digest. If my dad slaps you, you will go blind for 20 good seconds, during the 20 seconds, everywhere is white, I mean HOLY GHOST WHITE. When you start to get yourself, you will hear the tiny little siren sounds being manufactured in your brain. Then you will regain balance - This right here is called the DEFAULT. So, dad read this text and I guess he wasn't happy with what he read, so he called my elder brother, Kayode. It was my elder brother that called me and we spoke for like 4 minutes, I think. Bro spoke some crazy ass sense making, mind blowing, well spoken words into my head. That one is a smart lawyer so playing with words was something easy for him. Mehnnn! My bros words touched me like it was Thor's hammer that hit me. Immediately I went back to the message I had sent to my dad and read it. Hard guy, hard guy! Tears just dropped from my eyes, like dude YOU bleeped UP. I called my dad he didn't pick (guess he was busy or something) but I knew he didn't ignore the call. I texted him and the whole text was filled with I AM SORRY DAD, I AM SORRY DAD, I. SORRY DAD. Then later that day he called me and we spoke for length (I guess that was one of the longest father - son call we had ever had). He told me why he wasn't able to send the money at the particular time. I was soooo touched, I never knew. Then before he hung up I boldly said Daddy I LOVE YOU.. The man just laughed - this laugh was very genuine 'cus in the type of African home I grew up in, I LOVE YOU was scarce. That made me closer to my dad, and till today putting an I LOVE YOU at the end of any text message to my dad hasn't been difficult anymore. I bleeped up, I learnt my lesson, I cried, I apologized and I moved on stronger. LESSON: Don't say things when angry, you don't know what the other party is going through just to make you happy in other ways, always have someone with sound mind to talk you to the right part, I had a very good and understanding elder brother. Happy Sunday guys... READ: https://www.inoutnaija.com/2019/06/how-i-said-i-love-you-to-my-dad-for.html cc: lalasticlala, seun, mynd44
