Yea, captain Broward do piss inside and is scared of engaging the talibans sef, he was immediately relieved of duty.

Honestly, the implementation of the super camp strategy has improved alot of things especially base defence setup. Hescos are now a common site in bases in theatre of operations even now excavators are used to dig trenches unlike when soldiers dug same with shovels.
It's a gradual process the HESCOs are very expensive nevertheless most of these things are already being implemented/used.
But bros, a ragtag group of insurgents shouldn't hold the mighty NA (with a long history of gallantry) to ransom like that....we should be on the attack and they defend....na so e suppose be na...

I honestly wasnt very impressed with the movie. It wasnt as action-packed as i thought. The main action began from the middle of the movie when the Talibans attacked.

But i really admire the sense of brotherliness and love the soldiers shared. See how Pt. Carter refused to let specialist Mace bleed out there when he got shot. They all immediately began to donate blood for him and his life was saved.

Those 2 Captains (Keating and Yllescason or so) that died in quick succession bothered me. Captain Broward would have died too, if not that he was "coward", according to Pt. Carter.

The movie was still worth the time though
The reason for the apparent lack of action at the beginning of the movie was because the director wanted to strictly follow the real life events as they unfolded....according to the soldiers that were there, the Taliban didn't attack in full might at first because thy were probing the American defenses at first to understand all about it: their reaction time, location of their armor depot, personnel count etc.....

I'm sure Boko Haram attacks our vulnerable positions in the same way....with large, overwhelming numbers

There is a Great piece I'd love to share on this topic...

THE SUCCESSFUL LIEUTENANT
(by CAPTAIN CHRISTOPHER J. COURTNEY, currently the commander of Alpha Company, 306th MI Battalion at Fort Huachuca).

He Highlighted what he termed as THE TEN RULES OF SUCCESS (AND RESPECT) BEING ACHIEVED BY A LIEUTENANT

(1) Lead from the front
(2) Put the Troops first
(3) Lead Via ur Platoon Sergeant and Squad leaders
(4) Training is your No 1 priority
(5) Inspect what U expect
(6) Know what U do not know and do something about it
(7) Guard your Integrity
(cool Understand the roles of the other leaders
(9) Learn to make do with Scarce resources and personnel
(10) Remember to have fun and never lose ur sense of humour

HIS FOOTNOTE....

The lieutenant years are some of the most rewarding and memorable of your Army career. I will not mislead you and tell you that every day will be pleasant, but as you meet all the challenges, your confidence will grow. You will experience both great successes and many disappointments along the way. If you remember the points listed above and use your common sense, you are well on your way. Learn from your mistakes and do notrepeat them.

IN CLOSING, YOU WILL NOTE THAT NOWHERE DID I HIGHLIGHT OFFICER'S EVALUATION REPORTS OR HOW TO IMPRESS YOUR SENIOR RATER. IF YOU ALWAYS LEAD BY RIGHT EXAMPLE, TRAIN YOUR TROOPS, TAKE CARE OF SOLDIERS, MAINTAIN BOTH YOUR EQUIPMENT AND YOUR INTEGRITY, AND DEVELOP YOURSELF AS A PROFESSIONAL, THOSE MATTERS WILL TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES.
Bro, no disrespect but this sounds too theoretical

In an actual war setting with stressed men and a dire situation, how would a lieutenant maintain the calm?

What about the level of respect a young lieutenant can expect from his troops? particularly the very experienced NCOs...

Can we start a conversation about this?

That doesn't mean he will bench anybody immediately but he will contend with any striker in any team in the EPL.

He is has physicality and technical finesse and be is not slow.

24 goals in the Championship this season and counting is not a fluke.
So, he will contend with Mane, Salah, Aguero, Vardy, Ings, Aubameyang, etc

Your opinion is a big joke Sir

That signal sergent or so making call from a dead man's back pack phone didn't know that he has lost his right hands, imagine, if not he was told he could have continued calling his village people that may never pick up.
Abeg no body should ever pray for war.
Lollll

My brother.....I know the scene you're talking about

That was actually the lieutenant making a call through the radio of the dead signal sergeant. He didn't know the sergeant himself was dead.

And the lieutenant himself had lost his entire left(or right) arm....

That's war bro...we just don't get to perceive the stomach-turning, nausea-inducing odour of the battlefield

That's the funny part, they will never disclose anything to the public. At least there was a time one news found out that there were digging graves for the dead soldiers. May God help us
That was the most devastating news to me. Burying soldiers at night without their family even getting to say goodbye. It is not about military ethos here....it is just pure callousness

Hamburger Hill was secured on 20 may 1969.

The war for the hills and trails continued, the places and names forgotten, except by those who were there.

If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.
Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not have always.
Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own.
And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind.

3. Messi
Messi won't smell top five and your KDB will be 7th at most... grin

Liverpool players abi cheesy

I tell many of una last time say na Messi get Ballon d or una no gree una Dey hope for vvd maybe na wetin make you de oppose kdb

If mancity wins the champions league then you can’t stop KDB

The prayer you need is not hard ,in as much as I love city I still think they won’t win the champions league so it will go to lewandowski

If you think muller have a chance because of his highest assist then you are a dreamer
Whether we argue or not KDB ain't smelling that award till he retires from active football and starts working as a scout. grin

A Liverpool player would win it before him

Calm down okay

Then muller should win the ballon d or because he has more assists

Have you even watch de Bruyne play

Take a look at you calling muller just to go against kdb, baba no be everything be Liverpool and mancity ooo because vvd no win ballon d or no mean make you wish better player bad

If you Dey watch ball you should have called lewandowski because that dude is favorite but here you are calling muller

I am sure you saw where I said I want kdb or lewandowski but here you are saying I don’t watch others league but here you are not noticing what lewandowski has done ,you had to go and check the bundesliga highest assist to call Thomas Muller

Get your facts well next time ,Muller is in no competition for the ballon d or and he is no where near kdb
Oga, I kniw lewandowski has scored more goals than any player this season and thus I choose to remove him from the conversation because he is an obvious choice. This is a debate about the creators in either teams, the engaches or major playmakers and not goalscorers
