TheSuperNerd: How many chances or through balls have been fed to him over the 2 legs so far?
He had 2 shots in the Abuja game. Only one was on target. Nigeria as a team had 3 shots on target overall. The midfield didn't do their job in the offensive phases.
PS: He just hit the post after a tough turn and strike.
TheSuperNerd: To actually think you can bench Osimhen right now because of Offsides shows that some of us still don't understand the frustrations that come with playing in front of such a poorly balanced midfield.
Osimhen is your best and undisputed Number 1 striker. Bench him for who?? Onuachu? Moffi? Iheanacho?? Please be serious and analyse the issues of this team without reactionary takes.
Moffi yea
Nerdie, you're making excuses for him
Okay, without the offsides, how many shots on target does he have?
chuks404: see, osimhen is used to players with quick transition. If you watch napoli you will notice this. However, our players are too slow in decision making except iwobi. Take for instance chukwueze, robbing the ball when he was supposed to pass. However, osimhen is doing well. Omo na hunger for goal dey do our boy. Is better offside than being late ( joking though). All these things boil down to understanding. Another thing I like is the way moffi is defining is role. No positional clash with osimhen.
He should calm down
A great player knows he limitation of his team
It's absurd to expect SE to play like Napoli na haba
AndSunGorilla: Onyeka has made a couple of poor decisions and the second cost Omeruo a yellow card. The first could have resulted in a goal. Bright and Iwobi have been brilliant. Simon too hasn't done badly but I have not been impressed by Zaidu on the left side.
The only person I have seen in that middle is Iwobi
Remove him and SE is done for
He even eems to be doing the most tackles and that's not even his Job
TheSuperNerd: I am well aware. And I should throw him to the bench of that?? Our most inform player? Our biggest gun who never slacks when on the pitch in the GWG?? Naah... you don't seem to realise who we are both talking about here.
Really?
Where has he been in the last 3 games for GWG? How many goals?
Bros, don't bring Napoli form into this
All your european exploits is for nought if you play nonsense for your country
I maintain my position, Osimhen will not smell that CAF player of the year. He should continue
A desrved moroccan should win it - Hakimi or even amrabat
TheSuperNerd: Even the strikers with the basic understanding of such still get caught offside more than once in some games. Chill. This is not how to be a manager.
Bro, do you know how many times he has been caught offside in the first half of last game alone?
Well, its his career not mine
He has failed o score against a much weaker opponent in GWG colors
What of if he comes against senegal, morooco or even Ghana
Now I see why many say the guy disappears in GWG
Abeg, players wih questionable passion in the GWG has no place in the team
But who will be bold enough to take such decisions?
TheGoodJoe: Below are the stats of Xabi Alonso in one of his Bayern Munich games against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. You can see he posted 12 accurate long balls. In one of the games this season, Kelechi Nwakali posted 14, and today he delivered 17. So, tagging him as the rebirth of Xabi Alonso is not far-fetched.
Finito.
Bro, this is against a world class team- Bayern Munich and not against a segunda division team
Please make accurate comparisons next time. Your statement comparing the lad to Xabi alonso was bogus. That doesn't mean he isn't talented. If you had said "He has the potential to play like xabi alonso", many wouldn't have had any issues with it.
TheGoodJoe: Yes, he has not done much, but how much did Addo do before coaching and qualifying Ghana for the World Cup.
As I said, Amunike has been working as a consultant for CAF and FIFA. Amunike qualified Tanzania for the AFCON for the first time in decades. He has done some assistant roles. He has also had his stint with the U20.
On the local scene, he is most qualified. His tactical ideologies is far better than the white journey men we are employing.
What had Eguavoen done before coaching the Super Eagles. What about Oliseh?
As far as I am concerned, Amunike has a better CV than these two had before getting the Super Eagles job.
Well I also agree with you on these points
I feel NFF should consider amunike for the position
But firstly, NFF has to sort its self financially and integrity-wise
AndSunGorilla: I misspelt the name, na Tom Saintfiet. He's the coach of Gambia that overperformed at the last afcon. He's Belgian too. Gambia has a good style of play with all their limitations and played bravely throughout the tournament. Interestingly he had been appointed as our coach once but we changed our minds and contract not executed. Truth is the guy na journeyman but he is used to our African nonsense with Zimbabwe and Namibia in the past. For me, Finidi hasn't impressed with Enyimba, Amuneke hasn't done much beyond u17 which Manu Garba also win. Siasia would have been ok but FIFA don already axe am plu he failed once as coach of the SE.
TheSuperNerd: Q1. ANSWER: Obviously Emmanuel Amunike for his tactical understanding of the game and his already grounded knowledge on the core of the Super Eagles main team. He knows our core players inside and out and their tactical/technical qualities. He and Morocco's Walid Regragui share a common theme tactically but both are even different in their applications across various phases of gameplays.
OR.A Cost-effective Tactically Sound Foreign Coach who can come in, pick right and get the ground rolling without the silly excuses of time.
Q2. Answer: I have done rigorous and extensive analyses personally on our team and midfield options and how their individual qualities from technical and tactical POVs can synchronise with one another and I reached this conclusion.
A midfield 3 of Ndidi/Onyedika-Nwakali-Iwobi should be the starting midfield 3 for Nigeria's Super Eagles if we are serious about fixing and upgrading the quality of our middle game dynamics.
I am non-committal for now on Ndidi/Onyedika because Ndidi is still a very experienced and effective ball winner with average passing ability and can still thrive alongside Nwakali and Iwobi but in the long run, and with Onyedika getting more caps off the bench, Ndidi would have to make way for his upgrade in Raphael Onyedika from the start.
Onyedika is not just a ball winner like Ndidi. He is also adept in ball playing sequences and would help us immensely in smoothening the rough edges of our 1st and 2nd phase build up plays. Especially the 2nd phase and its corresponding Recycling plays.
MF Options to back up the starting 3 are: Alhassan Yusuf, Frank Onyeka, Oghenekaro Etebo, Abbas Ibrahim, Joe Aribo (pseudo MF who's more of a hybrid direct forward across the final third), etc.
Q3. I won't answer this because obviously I would be misunderstood. I wish not to stir up any issues so I skip this. And by the way, Musa is still Skipper. Lol
Tactically sound response as always.
I understand your hesitation about the third question.
However, which budget friendly foreign coach do you think can handle the SE?
The truth is, you can't give what you don't have. Nigerian local coaches are inept tactically. When last were they trained on foreign courses? How many were trained by the NFF in the past decade? How many of them have a continental pro license or even if it's the low tier ones?
AndSunGorilla: Oga mi, Nedu don talk plenty time say the golden midfield na trio of Iwobi, Nwakali and Onyedika. For coach, look no further than Emma Amuneke.
My own stance, slightly different, I think on current form with the players in camp, Onyeka and Iwobi would play better in the midfield deux of Paseiro. As per future coach, we could find the Saintlet or whatever the name of the guy is. Perhaps we should allo Emma Amuneke to try, we won't play worse than we are playing now. I honestly don't think we can afford any decent foreign coach now.
