Business / Guidelines For Non-oil Export Business. by BlueK1(m): 11:17pm On May 16, 2016
In view of the current economic crises coupled with growing labour market and the inability of the government to provide employment for the teeming population, it has become imperative for Nigerians to look elsewhere for survival.

Opportunities abound in non-oil export of
commodities. These include hardwood charcoal, cashew nut, food items, dry split ginger etc.

The following is just but brief guidelines on non-oil export business.

Business Incorporation.
Business name is essential in international trade. You need to register a business name to trade with as a limited liability company. Business registration is done by Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria. They are vested with power to register business and have offices across the country. (For more information, visit www.cac.gov.ng)

Export Licence.
Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has the sole responsibility to certify companies as qualified for exportation.

They also ensure that only allowable products are exported. They issue export licence for non-oil export business. (For more information, visit www.nepc.gov.ng)

Domiciliary Bank Account .
Proceeds of international business is paid into a domiciliary account by the foreign buyers. Therefore, a domiciliary account must be opened in US dollars, Euros and pounds.

Sources of The Products.
Information regarding the sources of the products is obtained by the would-be exporter.
This information may include quality, packaging, specifications required by the buyers and the volume available. He ensures the availability of the product in order to meet minimum order of the foreign buyers.
The following are some exportable products and the areas they can be sourced;

-Hardwood charcoal - Oyo state (Saki, Kishi, Igboho, Komu), Kwara state ( Jebba) and Niger state(Mokwa.)

-Cashew nut - Oyo state (Saki, Kishi, Igboho, Komu), Kwara state ( Omu-Aran) and Kogi state (Idah,Ayangba ,Ejule.)

-Ginger - Kaduna state (Kachia), Nasarawa state, Benue state and Gombe state.

Search For Foreign Buyers.
The search for foreign buyers could be done online and/or offline.

Online source includes visit to websites like www.tradekey.com, www.alibaba.com, www.ec21.com, www.importers.com etc.

Offline search includes registration with the following business associations and foreign embassies in Nigeria;
-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Mines & Agriculture (NACCIMA).
-Lagos State Chambers of Commerce (LSCC).
-Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO).
-Nigerian German Chamber of Commerce (NGCC).

Foreign buyers who arrive the country do make enquiries from these associations how exporters of Nigerian products can be found.

Exporters who have friends and relatives abroad can also help search for foreign buyers in their country of residence.

It should be emphasised that exporters must secure a foreign buyer before the actual purchase of product from local suppliers is done. The buyer will state his specifications in terms of packaging, quality, mode of payment, shipping company to use, terms of sale ( FOB, CIF, CF) etc.

Contract Signing.
The buyer and the seller agree on the terms of the contract by signing. The buyer prepares the contract agreement and sign. This is scanned and sent to the seller (via e-mail) who also signs and send it back to the buyer.

Shipping of Product.
The seller purchases product in line with the buyer’s specifications which is shipped to buyer either by sea or air.

However, it should be noted that that some buyers request for laboratory analysis of the products. This can be done at Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi, Lagos.
The service of a forwarding agent is needed for relevant documentation of the shipment.

Payment of Proceeds.
The forwarding agent, upon finishing the documentation and after obtaining the bill of lading (for sea shipment) or air waybill (for air freight) hands the documents to the seller who also scans and sends a copy (not original copy) to the foreign buyer. A certain percentage of the proceeds, as agreed in the contract, will be paid to the seller’s domiciliary account.

The balance will be paid upon arrival of the shipment in the buyer’s country after inspection in terms of quantity, quality etc.

Politics / Day Light Robbery By Apapa Iganmu LCDA "Council Official" by BlueK1(m): 6:01pm On Feb 18, 2016
this happened to me today. I was driving towards ijora under bridge this afternoon when someone I suspected to be a plain cloth policeman stopped me.

I parked as instructed but got to know that he is council official after he charged me for alleged traffic obstruction. I explained that I cannot obstruct traffic that was even flowing freely.

while this was going on, he suddenly removed my car key and asked someone to drive my car to the office which was later found out to be a room in one of the secondary schools off mobil road in Apapa. I was asked to pay N25,000 but eventually paid N17,000 including unreceipted "gate fee". the receipt is pictured below .

I implore the law enforcement agencies to stop this illegality immediately as these people are taking advantage of the recent fight against traffic offence by the Lagos State government.
Autos / Re: Engine Number And Chassis Number For Mercedes Benz C220 by BlueK1(m): 7:03pm On Feb 14, 2016
obinna222:
Engine and Chassis number are not the same.

The engine number is located at different places depending on the vehicle.

Are u in Lagos, if yes, go to clegg street, meet Mercedes benz parts seller and they would assist u.

They have to get it online. That's how I got the one for my ML350.

Thank you very much.
Autos / Engine Number And Chassis Number For Mercedes Benz C220 by BlueK1(m): 9:28am On Feb 13, 2016
Kindly enlighten me on this issue.

I use Mercedes Benz C220. Yesterday my car documents were checked by a police officer. He complained that the chassis and engine numbers should not be the same on the documents.

He said the engine number is always inside the engine and that chassis number shouldn't have been written on the space meant for the engine number. Even though I have never seen the engine number after extensive search. We argued it before I later pleaded with them and I was allowed to go.

Please I want someone to shed more light on this so that I will know how to defend myself in future occurrence.
Politics / Re: Send Mbaka To Sambisa If He Complains Again-abati by BlueK1(m): 8:00pm On Feb 06, 2016
simpleseyi:
The loss of the election is still paining the stupid fool called Abati, the ineffectual buffon who happened to be Abati's boss created the Sambisa nightmare, so I think it is Abati that deserves to be sent to Sambisa. Abati is till talking because ATM-Dansuki Sambo has not mentioned Abati's name and EFCC has also not gotten to the part of the bank statement that specifies that there were transfers to Abati's account from ONSA account. Once Dansuki Sambo mentioned Abati's name, Abati will keep shut, if you doubt me, ask yourself when last did Olisah Metusalah open his smelling mouth to speak against Sai Baba?

Abati should be ashamed of himself. when he was in GEJ administration I used to wonder why he belonged to the worst administration in the history of Nigeria.

Well, money, they say, is the root of all evil.
