macjive01:Can you imagine what this would have meant for this region? Massive economic boost and rapid industrialization... Longer-lasting roads... Haulage railway system... Too numerous to mention. Here's where GEJ missed it. Focus on fewer things and do them well....! Well, turning the page to June 1st... |
Scholes007:TRUE! This why we need to drum it well and hard into the ears of the in-coming elected official on what we need in one strong voice; and go them to go about achieving it or we, the PEOPLE, will recall them and replace them with someone that will deliver on what The People want. It should no longer be that they will go an sit in Abuja, fill their pockets and show up only during elections, they have to be accountable and deliver on WHAT THE PEOPLE NEED. Why can't there be other functional seaports along the coastal regions and at the Niger river> This will minimize the congestion in Apapa, and the excessive pressure on our roads hauling heavy goods and fuel, as well as reduce death from fallen containers... |
Yujin:True. Neither am I. I only want a better life for my great great grand children. |
psalmizt:TRUE. psalmizt:THIS CAN BE FIXED WITH TIME, WHEN TRUST, BROTHERLINESS AND UNITY BECOME STRONGER. psalmizt:GOD BLESS US ALL. Nice one. |
kevinberry: Kevin, it doesn't really matter at this stage who is part of the Bloc. In my opinion, let's start with where we are, who we are and what we can contribute; others will surely want to identify with your cause when they see you become successful. |
realjoker:This is the part of your comment that appeals to me, which I believe is the core reason for this thread, not what every other dissenting voice has mentioned. I refuse to see this thread as an aftermath of the outcome of the elections. Some of us responding on this thread have not grasped the full understanding behind this thread... This is about coming together to DEVELOP not to become an opposition!!! [A house (or country) divided against itself will perish]. To demand accountability from the in-coming elected representatives of the respective States in this Eastern bloc. Do we allow them to continue with their chop-and-go as usual? Nigerians are WISER now! (Aren't we...?) We have to start the "fight" internally by demanding the best from the government in this bloc. Some out-going state guvnors wasted 8 years of our development by their greed, funds washing down into their pockets and accounts; nothing to show to our children tomorrow. Zero - poor infrastructure; Zero - poor education; Zero - poor Healthcare; Name it...! Now a question to everyone that has posted a comment on this thread either in favour or against: So what will you and I do about it? What will we do about our respective zones? We go siddon look...? This is our WATCH! Guy, Girl; Lad, Lady; Man, Woman; Boy, Girl; WHAT is your own role in making this Eastern bloc better? Instead of throwing up yabbis or unfounded insinuations and conspiracy theories, why not pick one area you contribute in, bring in your suggestions to make the Eastern bloc a GREAT PLACE to be! Perhaps, the older generation have failed us, perhaps we can still salvage things...! I see a time in the near future when I will be proud returning home to the Eastern bloc, with everything working well, because we all made efforts to make sure our govt are held accountable and that they utilize the funds to create a developed Eastern bloc for me and my great great grand children. For me, I am still ready to join in... WHAT ABOUT YOU... ![]() |
proudlyhandsome:I wonder when that day will come that Nigerians will not be about BIGOTRY of any type!! Check out SouthAfrica Xenophonia..... |
Truckpusher:The JOURNEY of a thousand miles start with just ONE STEP....! |
Truckpusher:You will have your delete button nah ![]() |
Ezemust:Asking people to abandon their language will be an uphill task. Although most people in the middle-belt also speak Hausa well. Nothing stops the Eastern bloc from adopting Pidgin English as a general language, but each man will still retain his native dialect / mother-tongue. My thots. |
atlwireles:You have a point, but it can go viral faster if it starts online. Of course there may be some negative and uncertain voices, but being a good cause, it shld come out well. Online blogs, #hashtagging, social media, twitter, FB groups, BBM groups, Whatsapp groups are platforms where people connect easily and freely and hence should be used for the right reasons, such as this. (Recall that some negative groups reach out to the youth for negative purposes worldwide). (#BringBackTheGirls gained popularity thru social media too). I support the idea of starting an online platform. |
django1:Good that they are already united, then let us take it to the next level...! |
Nice write-up. Welldone Barcanista. We need the single-minded focus in the Eastern bloc. We need to raise and support selfless leadership. We need to organize ourselves and resources into re-uniting this region, and utilize the resources to develop the region as a whole. Like someone rightly pointed out the unity of the North, and the unity of the South; this Eastern bloc unity is achievable. We must demand the best from the political leadership in this Eastern bloc; the governors, the LGA chairmen, the counselors, the State House of Assembly members, etc. We must demand accountability from them, and stop following blindly. We must ensure they render good service and good stewardship. Good thing we have just elected people to "serve us", YES! They got in there to "serve" us, not loot out treasury! We must stop them from getting away with looted State funds, unpaid salaries and pensions; poor infrastructure and poor agricultural support, poor education system, poor healthcare. The era of looting-as-usual has got to stop! They have to be held accountable. A stealing guvnor is a thief and we shld all come out and call him a thief. It will discourage others from doing same. Because he has stolen the wealth that would have improved our cities. Please PM me, I can join up... |

Has any announcement been made about Abia elections? #AbiaDecides |
Has the results been announced? What's the reaction of Abia people so far? I'm sad Aba used to be a glorious city, go and look at it now!! Ariaria market used to be d heartland of d Southeast trading biz, go look at it now. I cry for #AbiaDecides. |
The #CardReader really messed up all their plans. By the time they saw a #loophole it was already too late to make much difference. I hope we can vote in 2019 with full computerised large touch-screen devices. With a finger-scanner attached to it for authentication. Results are uploaded to about 5 cloud storage sites once u submit ur votes. Collation and results are spooled and displayed / refreshed every 5mins. And send to central servers; no need for stuttering profs or flood-lite reading of results. This will kill #rigging. |

Okijajuju1:"NO PLACE IN THE WORLD is cable TV pay-as-you-watch!! NO PLACE!!" Doesnt make it IMPOSSIBLE. It's all about SOFTWARE engineering and programming. Will it be a crime if Nigeria be the first to get the PAYW (Pay-As-You-Watch) CableTV??!! C'mon, THINK around the BOX. All your reasons (except the annoying insults) has put you in the BOX they want you to believe and convince other people. PAYW (Pay-As-You-Watch) CableTV is POSSIBLE! #BoycottDSTVNg This is 2015, same issue has come up, it's about time... |
#BoycottDSTVNG, #BoycottDSTV I totally agree with this. Why cant i pay for just what I watch? Why cant I select channels I want and pay for that only? Once upon a time, MTN had monopoly with PER-MINUTE billing, but the market forces and NCC & Govt got the PER-SECOND billing operational; since then Nigerians have been getting better value for their money (apart from other network issues). DSTV in Nigeria has a very large market base and can afford to switch to pay-as-you-watch option; these are all SOFTWARE driven and can be achieved. I think a section of the Nigeria Govt may have compromised on this, some money may be going down some pockets in some corridors. If not, how do you explain a South African company thriving so well despite the issues Nigeria & South Africa has been having in recent times? I think we should tell DSTV enough is enough. My subscription ends on the 26th March, 2015, I will not renew it. I can get access to kids channels via so many Free-To-Air (FTA) stations, or other digital channels until #DSTVNGPayAsUWatch is achieved. A Twitter search with "pay as you watch dstv" will show all that people are saying... I'm also gonna hashtag: #DSTVNGPayAsUWatch Trending already are: #boycottDSTV and #boycottDSTVNG @DSTVNg, @DStvCare, @DStv |
