Education / How To Get A First Class In University? by bobby2270(m): 7:50am On Aug 22, 2012
Hi,
Just wanted to share some tips with you about making a First Class CGPA in the university. I got the tips from a friend i observed back in school. She was on a 5.0 CGPA for Three Years in a row. So lets get started.
1. Serve God diligently: Serrving God diliggently gives you a level head so that you find it easy to deal with people. Also it helps you to discern who to walk with and who not to walk with.
2. Be a library rat: Most people with First class read a lot. The friend i mentioned above spent about 3 Hrs in the library every day, 7 Days a week. She does that throughout the semester. But during exams, she plays video games to relax and watches movies because she has already absorbed the course contents over the time she spend reading .
using 3 hrs a day for 12 weeks = 252 Hrs of reading per semester.
3. Read past your reading time: Every time you have nothing to do, just pick up something related to the course and read it. It helps you to stay away from activities that would take you away from your primary focus.

These were the techniques that my friend used.
Feel free to comment.

Computers / Re: Laptop Versus Netbook For Browsing by bobby2270(m): 8:53pm On Jul 31, 2012
Habidab: Please Nairalanders i want to Acquire a Laptop or High End Netbook for browsing and all Am having as a bugdet for either of the two is #50,000.
Also am considering the issue of PHCN on one sideand i havent use a Netbook before but am used to Laptop. Laptop battery are very poor considering the time i use to spent online.
If its browsing and mails, word processing, Then i think a netbook is good. Look out for the samsung netbook that has the solar panel. I dont know how good it is but look out for it. Any high end netbook from Lenovo or gateway or Dell would do. But make sure you go to a shop where you can use a sample before you buy.
Education / Re: Improving Low Gpa by bobby2270(m): 8:48pm On Jul 31, 2012
Binty: Good day all ! I am a 100 level economics student in one of the universities in Nigeria After studing so hard for my first semester examinations and believing i passed i was so suprised to get a 1.96 gpa
pls i want some advice to get it back up because i have always wanted to get a first class is that even still possible for me ?Thanks in anticipation
Well i guess that the best you can get now is second class upper. But you have to work hard for it. Just make sure you move with the people who are topping the class, go to the library in your school and read recommended books for your courses. Also dont ever doubt that you can make that second class upper. As long as you focus on getting it, you'll get it. Wishing you the best of Luck.
Politics / Re: We Need To Change Nigeria From The Bottom Up. by bobby2270(m): 3:23pm On Jul 27, 2012
Johndoe100:

I agree but you must understand that the "bottom" are those pesky Yoruba ACN goons. We need to rehabilitate their thinking if at all possible.

Exactly my point. but we must that before they became goons, they were good people. so we have to educate them and rehabilitate them by providing something for them to do. The movement would collaborate with NGO's that rehabilitate people. Even though they might not make the kind of money they are making now, but at least they wont be out of the job once ACN is out of the seat of power.

Since no one has replied this thread yet, let me be the first.
First step i would take is to create a movement that will embody the rules of good governance. Which includes inclusion of all religious and geo-political zones, providing free access to social infrastructure (Water and Electricity), organizing seminars to educate both children and parents about what it takes to have a better Nigeria.
Politics / We Need To Change Nigeria From The Bottom Up. by bobby2270(m): 2:31pm On Jul 27, 2012
I've examined Nigerian Politics and i think the only way it will change is from the bottom up. That is, from the grassroots.
We need to educate our people on what good governance is. That way, the leaders that come up will be acting based on principles of Good governance.
I would like your thoughts and i will also provide mine as this thread grows.
Business / Mobile Monday Nigeria July Event by bobby2270(m): 2:04pm On Jul 27, 2012
E & M Commerce is fast becoming an alternative to traditional brick and mortar stores which have now become costlier to build due to rising costs of real estate, costlier to maintain, and face problems such as inventory control and trust issues with staff.
with E & M Commerce, the barriers to owning a storefront business are greatly reduced. Costs are also reduced because of the seller does not need a large building to operate from. This has opened the doors to a wave of online retailers and merchants.
Join us at the next Mobile Monday on the 30th of July 2012 as we invite some of the major players in the Nigerian E-Commerce scene to speak about the past, present and future of E-Commerce in Nigeria.
We will be having Femi Adebiyi CEO of Taafoo.com (http://www.taafoo.com) and representatives from Eyowo (http://www.eyowo.com) coming to speak.
Make sure you do not miss out on this opportunity to get insights into the benefits of ecommerce and also discover the pitfalls that can spell disaster for an online storefront.
We'll be expecting you. See you on Monday! Register at http://eandm-commerce.eventbrite.com
