A former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has alleged that Peter Obi’s group is now fighting him because he refused to join forces with them ahead of the 2023 general elections.


Wike said Peter Obi and his lobbyists lobbied him so much prior to the polls but he turned them down, believing Obi would not win the election.

Speaking in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike said he was not ready to waste Rivers votes on someone he thought would not fly.

According to him, “Peter Obi’s group lobbied me so much. They cannot deny it. And I said ‘look, this one won’t fly.’ ‘Rivers State will not vote for where it’s not going to fly’. There’s also a gang up and I say, ‘look, enough is enough.’ They want to fight us back. They’re fighting themselves. ”

DAILY POST recalls stories of alleged massive rigging of the 2023 presidential election and rewriting of result sheets in favour of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Rivers State.

There were also reports of political thugs allegedly deployed by Wike compelling voters to cast their votes for a particular candidate and also stories of votes buying.


Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, all won 12 states each and Tinubu was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for polling the highest number of votes.

God bless Gowon. He tamed savages. The only mistake of Gowon was not to expel the Sad East from Nigeria without Hausa/Ebonyi , Igala/Enugu and half of Igala/ Benin Anambra. Igbom must get their own nation, it will however be a lot smaller than the 5 plots they cry about.

Partly yes and that is because he is supported by many powerful PDP governors and members . This is exactly what I am saying . I am yet to hear of pdp making any example out of any of the G5 members . Wike has said it many times that his G5 organisation has many members who are not even talking and always waiting for his instructions. PDP has to take a decision ,either to continue with Wike excesses and keep losing public support or to just Damm the consequences and expel him from the party

Wike won't leave PDP o. It is like an insurance cover for him . And secondly many of those in PDP secretly go to Wike for favours daily , he is trying to play a smart game by holding 2 fortresses but it seems fubara wants to make one of the fortresses totally useless , reason why fubara is propping up app.
Wike has committed the worst sins any party member can do but yet PDP hasn't even suspended him talkless of expelling him.
Everyone keeps saying they want Wike out of pdp, the question is why hasn't PDP done so ? The simple reason is because he has many many key strong loyalist members in PDP. So the party is finding it difficult to expel him without crashing the party .

Same Atiku refused to step down for babagida and buhari a northerner in the 2011 and 2015 PDP and APC primaries will now step down for obi or any other easterner.

What is stopping Atiku throwing his weight behind Obi now for the next election.
