Sunky200:How, can you explain further |
Sunky200:Are you implying that the claim that Osun State's LG allocations are not being withheld by the Tinubu-led federal government is false, or...? |
The Tinubu-led APC federal government continues to act in a manner that undermines democratic principles. For over six months, President Tinubu has withheld Osun State's constitutionally guaranteed allocation, citing a non-existent court judgment as justification. This deliberate denial of the state's rightful patrimony raises serious constitutional and ethical concerns. Meanwhile, the Akpabio-led legislature has failed to take action despite this being a clear and sufficient ground for initiating impeachment proceedings. Such inaction reflects a disturbing erosion of institutional accountability. Actions like these pose a significant threat to Nigeria’s democracy Infact, Tinubu is a threat to democracy |
The Nigerian government has reportedly met two key demands of the Nigerian Labour Congress amid a strike ultimatum. The demands are the reversal of the 40 percent deduction from the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund into the national treasury and the appointment of Opeyemi Agbaje as chairman of the National Pension Commission. Meanwhile, PenCom is yet to officially confirm Agbaje’s appointment as of filing the report. Recall that last week, NLC, in a statement by its president Joe Ajaero, issued a seven-day notice to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to shut down the economy. The NLC’s had demanded the diversion of workers’ funds domiciled with the NSITF and the constitution of the PenCom board. However, reports showed that the federal government has acted upon the demands. In a letter to the NLC dated August 16, 2025, NSITF Managing Director Oluwaseun Faleye said, “No further deductions would be made from either contributions or investment proceeds.” In the letter, Faleye confirmed that the Federal Ministry of Finance circular (Ref: FMFCME/OTHERS/IGR/CFR/21/2021) dated December 28, 2023, introduced a policy of automatic deduction of 50 percent from the internally generated revenue of all Federal Government-owned enterprises. NSITF clarified that said employers’ contributions remitted to the agency, which are statutory liabilities and not government revenue, are no longer being deducted following a March 2024 directive from the Accountant-General of the Federation, and some of the previously deducted funds have already been reversed. “We have been assured that this matter will be addressed. Both the Minister of Finance and the Director-General of the Budget Office, in meetings held in August 2025, committed that no further deductions would be made from either contributions or investment proceeds,” the NSITF stated in the letter seen by DAILY POST. Reacting to the development, NLC Secretary, Christopher Onyeka confirmed the receipt of the letter, noting that its executive council will review the correspondence before deciding on the proposed strike. “The contributions to NSITF are intended to compensate workers in the event of injury. They are not government revenue and should not be used for fiscal purposes. “Protecting these funds is our responsibility,” he added. https://dailypost.ng/2025/08/18/fg-meets-two-demands-of-nigerian-workers-amid-threat-to-shut-down-economy/ |

......before n’assembly screening Yiaga Africa has asked President Bola Tinubu to publish the names of potential candidates for the position of chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and subject them to public scrutiny before screening by the national assembly. Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC chairman, will step down in October after serving the maximum two terms, totalling 10 years, while about 10 national commissioners will also leave office before the 2027 elections. Speaking on Friday during a roundtable discussion on “Safeguarding the Independence of INEC”, Samson Itodo, executive director of Yiaga Africa, said the transitions “would perhaps make INEC weaker and also impact the quality of the next elections”. “And so, we have said that aside from the constitutional requirements of questionable integrity and non-partisanship, there’s a great need to look for people who have experience in elections or in a related field because elections are a complex technical activity,” Itodo said. “The second point is to look for individuals who are independently minded, individuals who cannot be swayed by any form of political persuasion, individuals who can withstand political pressure because it serves the interest of Nigeria, whether it is the incumbent or even the opposition. “And for the third part, you need people with mental alertness. The INEC job is very complex and tasking, so you need people who are alert to manage elections. “Before he sends a nomination to the national assembly, can you publish the list of people he’s considering, ask citizens and civil society and professional organisations to submit objections and memos on those people, interview them, and have a first screening process before you send those names? “If the next elections are really going to be credible and the perception of integrity is going to be high, it’s going to begin with the appointment process for the next INEC chairman and the national commissioners. “And so, we are saying that the president has an opportunity, and the national assembly does have an opportunity to do what will inspire public confidence in this electoral process and let them not treat these appointments with any form of executive overreach or political manipulation.” https://www.thecable.ng/yiaga-africa-to-tinubu-publish-inec-chair-nominees-for-public-scrutiny-before-nassembly-screening/ |

WizardOfNG:Your long-winded ránt is a classic case of dodging substance with emotion, misinformation, and tired tribal dog whistles. Listen, criticizing a government isn’t the same as hating the country. That kind of logic is not only flawed, it's dangerous. If you think patriotism means blind loyalty to politicians or parties especially just because the politician is from your tribe then you're making a serious mistake. “A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.” Now, your take on international law is frankly embarrassing. Judges in democratic countries are independent they don’t need clearance from trade departments or foreign ministries to rule on asylum or terrorism-related claims. That’s basic civics. If you truly believe the Canadian judge overstepped, then go through the proper legal channels. Canada has a functioning legal system with appeal mechanisms. But calling for a judge to be sanctioned simply because the ruling exposes your political party or the political party you support shows a deep misunderstanding of how the rule of law works. Dragging in ethnicity every time your argument collapses isn’t just lazy, it’s toxic. If your defense of APC relies on tribal scapegoating, then maybe it’s your party that seriously needs to look within. And since you mentioned “demarketing Nigeria”. let’s be honest: no one has done more damage to Nigeria’s image than the very government you defend. You can’t have a dlórd, idéntity thiéf, certificáte fórgér, and buccaneering crîmînál power-grabber leading the ruling party and by extension, the country and then pretend it’s critics who are the problem. If the world is now linking APC to terrorism, maybe that’s not sabotage from the outside. Maybe it’s accountability knocking from the inside. |
A Canadian court's designation of Nigeria's ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a terrorist organization is a damning international indictment. While the ruling may shock some, it underscores growing global concern over the APC’s ties to political violence, armed militias, and the steady erosion of democratic norms. For years, APC politicians have been linked to the sponsorship of terrorist groups including Boko Haram, armed bandits, killer herdsmen and ethnic militias often disguised as vigilantes. During elections, thugs, hoodlums, and agberos are routinely unleashed to intimidate voters, snatch ballots, and sabotage the democratic process. Infamous statements like “grab, snatch, and run” have normalized electoral terrorism in Nigeria. Beyond the ballot box, Nigeria is witnessing a total criminal state capture. Key institutions legislature, judiciary, security forces etc have been compromised. The misuse of state power, including unconstitutional declarations of states of emergency and the unlawful removal of elected institutions, borders on political terrorism. These acts have further destabilized an already fragile democracy. This ruling should not be dismissed as foreign interference. It must be seen as a wake-up call a moment for deep national reflection. The APC must address its internal rot and sever ties with violent actors. Nigerians must rise above partisan loyalty to demand real accountability and an end to political violence. This is no longer just about the APC, it is about the soul of the Nigerian state. The time for denial is over. The time for truth, introspection, and urgent reform is now. |
*Obi’s faction bounces back *Abure mum, Nenadi hails move, extends olive branch *Otti, former treasurer, Osuntokun, others hail electoral umpire *Stop causing confusion, join progressives to rebuild party, Otti tells Abure The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday, withdrew its recognition of Julius Abure as National Chairman of the Labour Party, in line with the Supreme Court judgement of April 4, 2025. The move, which appears to resolve the protracted leadership crisis ravaging the LP in favour of the faction supported by the party’s 2023 Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi, elicited celebrations among party leaders last night. The ululations were hinged on the support that the Acting National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman-led team would give Mr Obi in the 2027 presidential poll. Faced with an unsupportive stance from Abure, the former Anambra State Governor joined forces with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, Malam Nasir el-Rufai among others to drive a coalition that chose the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as a vehicle to challenge President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2027. Even at that, it is difficult to tell if Obi would get the presidential ticket of the ADC as opposed to that of the LP led by Nenadi. The electoral umpire”s decision has laid to rest the controversy generated by the conflicting interpretations of the Supreme Court Judgement by factions of the LP. INEC’s verdict INEC’s position was contained in an affidavit sighted, in Abuja, on Friday. The electoral management body also invalidated the controversial convention held by the Abure-led faction in Nnewi, Anambra State on March, 27, 2024. INEC had in response to the affidavit filed by Abure’s legal team, filed a counter affidavit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1523/2025. In its counter affidavit deposed to by its Executive Officer (Litigation and Prosecution), Mr. Ayuba Mohammed, INEC stated that the tenure of Julius Abure as National Chairman of LP had expired as clearly stated in the Supreme Court judgement of April 4, 2025. Explaining INEC’s decisions in its dealings with Abure and the LP after then, Mohammed deposed that: “The defendant (INEC) cannot accept and issue access code for upload of candidates nomination forms EC9, EC9f and EC 9g for the bye-election scheduled for 16/8/2025 to plaintiff (Abure-led LP) as there were no valid National Chairman and National Secretary for defendants to deal with as provided in exhibit INEC 2.” On the issue of the Nnewi Convention purportedly held by Abure, INEC affirmed that it neither monitored nor recognized the controversial March 27, 2024 “National Convention” in Nnewi, Anambra State, where Abure claimed he was re-elected, noting that the entire exercise was conducted in breach of the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, INEC’s own guidelines, and the Labour Party’s constitution. INEC also referenced the Supreme Court’s April 4, 2025 judgment (Appeal No. SC/CV/56/2025), which struck out the suit underpinning Abure’s claims for lack of jurisdiction, effectively nullifying all prior rulings that had purported to affirm his leadership. Usman extends olive branch to Abure, others Reacting, to the latest development, the Acting National Chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Nenadi Usman, welcomed INEC’s stance and extended the olive branch to aggrieved party members urging them to join her in the task of rebuilding the party. In a statement she issued in Abuja, Usman said: “I received with profound relief and deep satisfaction the news of the judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1523/2025, which today dismissed in its entirety the case instituted by Mr. Julius Abure against the Independent National Electoral Commission. “This decision stands as yet another unambiguous and authoritative affirmation of the rule of law and the judiciary’s steadfast consistency in upholding the binding pronouncements of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. “This latest judgment aligns squarely with the earlier decision of the Supreme Court, delivered on 4 April 2025 in Appeal No. SC/CV/56/2025, which unequivocally nullified all previous recognitions of Mr. Abure’s purported leadership of the Labour Party. In its wisdom – and in strict adherence to the Supreme Court’s final pronouncement – the Federal High Court in Abuja rightly struck out the originating suit for want of jurisdiction. That decision of the apex court remains binding on all persons and authorities in Nigeria pursuant to Section 287 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “I must also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission for the clarity, courage, and institutional integrity reflected in its counter-affidavit during the pendency of the case. “In that sworn testimony before the court, INEC categorically confirmed that the tenure of Mr. Abure , along with that of the entire National Executive Committee, expired in June 2024. “The Commission further affirmed that it neither monitored nor recognised the purported National Convention held in Nnewi on 27 March 2024, having found it to be in flagrant breach of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, INEC’s own Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties 2022, and the Labour Party Constitution. “This unequivocal position, rendered under oath by the nation’s electoral umpire before a competent court of law, removes all lingering doubts and reinforces the imperative for every member, officer, and stakeholder of our great party to submit, at all times, to the supremacy of our Constitution and the dictates of the rule of law. “With this judgment – and INEC’s clear, unambiguous stance – it is time for all members of the Labour Party to put this needless distraction behind us and to recommit ourselves to the urgent task of rebuilding and repositioning our party into the credible, disciplined, and people-centred political movement that Nigerians deserve. “Under my leadership as Interim National Chairman, I remain unwavering in my commitment to ensuring strict compliance with our party’s Constitution, entrenching transparent internal democratic processes, and restoring unity, discipline, and shared purpose as we prepare for the political contests ahead.” INEC has removed all doubts-Ex-national treasurer Speaking in a similar vein, the party’s former National Treasurer, Mrs. Opara said the depos/tion “removes any lingering doubt” about the leadership question. “This is a fresh, unequivocal statement under oath by the electoral umpire that Julius Abure is not the national chairman of the Labour Party. It aligns perfectly with the Supreme Court’s binding judgment. Nigerians should ignore any contrary propaganda,” she said. She accused Abure of clinging to power “through publicity stunts” and urged members to focus on lawful processes. “The law is clear: his tenure expired in June 2024, the Nnewi Convention was invalid, and the Supreme Court has spoken. This counter-affidavit is yet another nail in the coffin of these desperate claims,” she added. The Electoral umpire may have finally laid to rest Abure’s claims and adamant posture in clinging to the leadership of the party even after the Apex Court had ruled. It’s long overdue— Otti In a quick response, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, LP’s sole state helmsman, hailed the INEC for recognising the Senator Nenadi Usman-led leadership of the LP as the authentic leadership of the party. Governor Otti described the action of INEC as a welcome development and long overdue. Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor also commended all other agencies of government that assisted in ensuring that the judgment of the Supreme Court on the matter prevailed. He said: “We are grateful to INEC. We are grateful to all the agencies of government that played one role or the other to ensure that the judgment of the Supreme Court was finally respected. “It was long overdue, it was long expected. When you look at what transpired in court, when you look at even what INEC filed, a counter-affidavit, firmly explaining and insisting that Julius Abure’s tenure had expired and he had no locus to impose himself as the national chairman of the party. “So, what INEC did is to ensure that order is restored; that normalcy is restored; that peace is restored; that cohesion and togetherness is achieved. “With what has happened, we begin the process of reconciliation and restoration and begin to head to the right direction. We have no issues. Members have been very enthusiastic about it. They want our party to be peaceful. They want us to work like a family. And, of course, we are going to begin that process.” He urged Abure to embrace peace and join the progressives in the on-going efforts to rebuild the party. “If they (Abure and his followers) are desirous of moving our party forward, they should join hands with all the progressives that are in the party to ensure that we get to the right direction. “The decision of INEC, of course, is very much in tandem with the Supreme Court judgment, which earlier de-recognized Abure and firmly stated that Abure’s tenure had expired and we had expected Abure to respect the judgment of the Supreme Court. “He didn’t actually need to wait for INEC to do what they just did. But since he decided to wait, now finally INEC has decided to respect the Supreme Court’s judgment, which is in tandem with our laws. The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land and once the Supreme Court speaks, everybody is expected to respect and adhere strictly to whatever the Supreme Court has said. So, we are happy. “Abure and his group are expected to join hands with other progressives in the party to move our party forward. LP is a group of progressives. “Abure and co may have erred but then the leadership of the party will decide what will be their fate. But if they are progressives, they should desist from causing confusion.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/08/lp-crisis-your-tenure-has-expired-inec-tells-abure/ |

In 2023, Bola Ahmed Tinubu stood before millions of Nigerians and made a bold, unequivocal promise: he would fix Nigeria's long-standing electricity crisis. He said, “If I don’t give you constant electricity, don’t vote for me when I come back for 2nd term.” It was a rare moment of political clarity in a country where politicians are often masters of ambiguity. The line resonated deeply with a weary population hopeful, tired, and desperate for light. Two years on, and as we approach 2027, Nigeria remains as trapped in darkness as ever. Electricity generation continues to wobble between 3,000MW and 4,500MW, with a recent peak of 5,105 megawatts, laughable for a country of over 200 million people. Blackouts are still the norm. Businesses continue to hemorrhage money daily running expensive petrol and diesel generators. Children still study and write exams by candlelight and Nokia phone torchlights. Hospitals still lose lives to power outages. So why would anyone, in good conscience, re-elect a man who promised light but delivered nothing but more darkness?

President Bola Tinubu has said Nigerians have no reason to be poor, reiterating his administration’s commitment to promoting the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country. Tinubu made the statement at the 8th Expanded National MSME Clinic in Calabar on Wednesday. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, he said the country had boundless human and natural resources at its disposal. The president said Cross River, as a state, had the capacity to grow almost every crop because of its fertile land. “The Federal Government intends to plant 100 million oil palm trees, more than any other state. Cross River has an advantage,” he said. Tinubu further said that upon assumption of office, his government guaranteed access to capital and pledged to support ventures that would redefine the future of work, skills, and industry. He commended the Cross River Government for establishing a state-of-the-art communication and technology hub for MSMEs, saying, “This aligns the state with trends in digital technology.” “The hub will give MSMEs affordable access to high-speed internet, modern equipment, and a collaborative space to learn and innovate, remembering that the digital world is a window to diverse markets. “The digital world has space for the market woman in Ikom, the furniture maker in Calabar, and the fashion designer in Ogoja, Ugep, or Odukpani. “This is why my administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is a commitment to creating an environment where MSMEs not only survive but thrive. “Our commitment is not just to give loans or grants, but to build an ecosystem that provides infrastructure and enhances the creativity of entrepreneurs,” he said. In his speech, Gov. Bassey Otu described the 8th MSME Clinic as a special-purpose initiative between Cross River and the Federal Government. Otu said the essence was to enhance the entrepreneurial spirit of the citizens and grow the economy of the state. He said that through the Micro Finance and Enterprise Development Agency, the state government had trained no fewer than 3,500 entrepreneurs in different facets of entrepreneurship. The governor stated that the gains of MSMEs were boundless, noting that with collective exploration, they have the capacity to raise the people’s standard of living. Otu commended the president for his foresight and expressed the commitment of the state government to support the realisation of his Renewed Hope Agenda. Mr. Pius Neji, the Head, Bank of Industry (BOI), Cross River office, said the bank was a fundamental friend and partner in progress to entrepreneurs. Neji said the BOI had been giving out funds to assist businesses in rural areas, and that it had already disbursed about N260 million to MSMEs in the state. “Cross River is a good place for our entrepreneurs, and the state has what it takes to make Nigeria greater. The industrialisation of Cross River can take Nigeria to the next level,” he said https://dailypost.ng/2025/08/13/nigerians-have-no-reason-to-be-poor-tinubu/ |

helinues:So because Tinubu is building a Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Nigeria is suddenly progressing, and anyone who questions the shady, opaque way it was awarded is automatically the enemy of progress? helinus, that logic is not just flawed it’s dangerous. You don’t defend progress by shutting down accountability. You defend corruption. Projects without transparency, due process, or Environmental Impact Assessments are not “progress”. And if you can't understand that, then yes, you may be too far gone to reason with. Irredeemable isn't even the word, it’s willful ignorance on steroids. |
helinues:helinus, so by your skewed, painfully mundane logic, only those who blindly supported the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway from the start have the right to question its shady execution? That mindset is exactly why Nigeria remains trapped in a cycle of corruption and zero accountability. This isn’t a private estate project for your political idol, it’s a public, multi-trillion naira infrastructure funded by taxpayers. And as such, it must follow due process: Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), competitive bidding, stakeholder consultation, and transparency, all clearly mandated by the Procurement Act. But instead of demanding answers on why a project of this scale was rushed without fulfilling these legal obligations, you're out here screaming "bad belle" like that's a valid counterargument. Listen carefully, Criticizing a dubious project isn't hate. It's called citizenship. Kindly let that sink into your sk.ull. If you truly cared about Nigeria’s progress, you’d be asking the hard questions with the rest of us. But clearly, when loyalty to power outweighs loyalty to truth, silence becomes your comfort zone. Blind tribal loyalty like the one you exhibit here has never built a nation. Accountability has. |

.......Nigeria getting worse Former presidential candidate Peter Obi stated on Monday that, although President Bola Tinubu and President Javier Milei assumed office in the same period, things have improved in Argentina, while they have worsened in Nigeria. Citing Argentina as an example of a country making progress, though once confronted with similar challenges to those faced by Nigeria, Mr Obi pointed out that Argentina and “the current Nigerian leadership assumed office in the same year,” but the Latin American country had made significant progress. Mr Milei took office as president on December 10, 2023. Mr Tinubu was sworn in as Nigeria’s president on May 29, 2023. “A recent example is what is happening in Argentina. In Argentina, over 52% of its population lived in poverty by early 2024, according to the World Bank, with millions of Argentines unable to meet basic needs. Inflation was above 200%, and economic confidence had collapsed. “Yet, within two years, through decisive action to cut waste in governance and prioritize economic stability, the newly inaugurated president was able to cut down the poverty rate to 38.1% from 52% in just 2 years and extreme poverty fell to 8.2%, with inflation just around 2–3% monthly,” Mr Obi said. The politician added that as of 2025, urban poverty had declined to 31.6%, lifting millions of people out of poverty. Investor confidence grew, and the economy began to grow. “The people now see real improvements in their daily lives,” noted Mr Obi in a statement on X. “Hunger and poverty are not just distant statistics; they are the harsh reality that millions of our people face daily,” the opposition figure stated. “Families who once lived stable lives are now slipping into poverty. But this is not just ordinary, it is as a result of incompetent leadership without capacity and compassion, who are not interested in putting the Nigerian people first in their actions,” Mr Obi stated. He added, “Recently, the United Nations stated that about 34 million Nigerians will face acute food insecurity, and about 63% of our population, which is about 133 million people, now live in multidimensional poverty. The Labour Party politician, who is aligning with the African Democratic Congress, lamented the hardship brought about by Mr Tinubu’s harsh economic policies. “Inflation, even with the suppressed statistics, is nearly 30%, while unemployment and economic mismanagement have nearly wiped out our once vibrant middle class,” stated the politician. While Mr Obi admitted that “two years may not be enough to change a nation with a 100% turn”, he insisted that “it is more than enough to kickstart the transformation journey”. He added, “Nigeria can work. We can reduce hunger and restore dignity to Nigerians. But this will not happen while corruption and criminality dominate our governance. Our nation requires leaders who will put the people first, manage resources prudently, and stand firm in rejecting corrupt practices. “Nigeria will work, but only if we, as leaders, commit to tackling corruption, cutting the cost of governance, and focusing on critical areas of development like education, healthcare, and lifting the people out of poverty, just as other nations have done with remarkable results.” Last week, Mr Tinubu’s government stated that, although Nigerians are experiencing economic hardship, opposition politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Mr Obi, as well as other critics, should not exaggerate the pain and suffering of Nigerians. https://gazettengr.com/javier-milei-tinubu-became-president-same-time-argentina-improving-nigeria-getting-worse-peter-obi/ |
......Says State Gov’t The Osun State Government has accused the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating the illegal withholding of local government allocations in the state, warning that Osun people will “harshly punish” the APC at the polls for what it described as an “inhuman” act. In a statement issued on Sunday, the spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said the APC was “deliberately punishing the people and the performing Governor of Osun State” by blocking access to the funds. “The Osun APC can therefore not hide under fake news any longer as the facts can no longer be twisted. As at today, there is no legal or political basis for the withholding of Osun State local government allocations,” Rasheed stated. He cited the June 13, 2025 Court of Appeal judgement as having sustained the sack of former APC local government council chairmen and validated the February 22, 2025 local government elections, which brought in the current local government leadership across the state. “The public is further in the know that the APC chairmen and councillors were sacked by two courts as early as 2022 and their removal was never reversed even by the misinterpreted Court of Appeal judgment of February 10, 2025,” Rasheed said. “We challenge the Osun APC to point out the exact portion of the February 10, 2025, judgment of the Appeal Court where an order for reinstatement was made.” According to him, prior to the June ruling, the APC “made spirited efforts to breach the law by pushing for the payment of local government allocations to court-sacked APC chairmen” but such attempts “met brick walls on all fronts.” Rasheed argued that even if the Supreme Court judgement on local government autonomy were to be applied, payment would still have to be made into accounts opened with the duly elected February 22 chairmen and accredited officials as signatories. He also claimed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was unaware of the fund seizure until reading about it in the Nigerian Tribune during the Eid holidays. “This means that the Attorney-General of the Federation instructed the Accountant-General of the Federation to withhold the funds without presidential approval,” he alleged, urging the President to “intervene and order the release of Osun local government allocations.” The statement concluded with a warning to the opposition: “Osun APC should therefore retrace her anti-people posture and ensure immediate release of Osun allocation to the rightly elected leadership of the local governments… We must put APC on notice that Osun people will harshly punish them through the ballot for their willful inhuman punishment of Osun people.” https://leadership.ng/osun-people-ll-punish-apc-for-deliberately-withholding-lg-allocations-says-state-govt/ |
