For the benefits of doubt I expect dancing governor to substantiate this claim
Are you implying that the claim that Osun State's LG allocations are not being withheld by the Tinubu-led federal government is false, or...?

The Tinubu-led APC federal government continues to act in a manner that undermines democratic principles. For over six months, President Tinubu has withheld Osun State's constitutionally guaranteed allocation, citing a non-existent court judgment as justification. This deliberate denial of the state's rightful patrimony raises serious constitutional and ethical concerns.

Meanwhile, the Akpabio-led legislature has failed to take action despite this being a clear and sufficient ground for initiating impeachment proceedings. Such inaction reflects a disturbing erosion of institutional accountability.

Actions like these pose a significant threat to Nigeria’s democracy

PoliticsFG Meets Two Demands Of Nigerian Workers Amid Threat To Shut Down Economy by Bobloco(op): 10:53am On Aug 18, 2025
The Nigerian government has reportedly met two key demands of the Nigerian Labour Congress amid a strike ultimatum.

The demands are the reversal of the 40 percent deduction from the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund into the national treasury and the appointment of Opeyemi Agbaje as chairman of the National Pension Commission.

Meanwhile, PenCom is yet to officially confirm Agbaje’s appointment as of filing the report.
Recall that last week, NLC, in a statement by its president Joe Ajaero, issued a seven-day notice to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to shut down the economy.

The NLC’s had demanded the diversion of workers’ funds domiciled with the NSITF and the constitution of the PenCom board.

However, reports showed that the federal government has acted upon the demands.

In a letter to the NLC dated August 16, 2025, NSITF Managing Director Oluwaseun Faleye said, “No further deductions would be made from either contributions or investment proceeds.”

In the letter, Faleye confirmed that the Federal Ministry of Finance circular (Ref: FMFCME/OTHERS/IGR/CFR/21/2021) dated December 28, 2023, introduced a policy of automatic deduction of 50 percent from the internally generated revenue of all Federal Government-owned enterprises.

NSITF clarified that said employers’ contributions remitted to the agency, which are statutory liabilities and not government revenue, are no longer being deducted following a March 2024 directive from the Accountant-General of the Federation, and some of the previously deducted funds have already been reversed.

“We have been assured that this matter will be addressed. Both the Minister of Finance and the Director-General of the Budget Office, in meetings held in August 2025, committed that no further deductions would be made from either contributions or investment proceeds,” the NSITF stated in the letter seen by DAILY POST.

Reacting to the development, NLC Secretary, Christopher Onyeka confirmed the receipt of the letter, noting that its executive council will review the correspondence before deciding on the proposed strike.

“The contributions to NSITF are intended to compensate workers in the event of injury. They are not government revenue and should not be used for fiscal purposes.

“Protecting these funds is our responsibility,” he added.

PoliticsAPC National Chairman, Yilwatda, Loses Mother by Bobloco(op): 10:01pm On Aug 17, 2025
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has lost his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.

She died on Sunday morning at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, aged 83.

The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, confirmed her passing in a statement issued in Jos.

He described the late Mama Lydia as a devoted Christian, a virtuous woman leader, and a pillar of the Church of Christ in Nations.

“The All Progressives in Plateau State received with shock the sad news of the death of the mother of its National Chairman, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.

“According to family sources, she passed on this morning at the Jos University Teaching Hospital at the age of 83 years.

“Her death is not only a personal loss to the National Chairman, but the entire APC family in Plateau State and the Country at large,” the statement read.

It added that Mama Lydia, alongside her late husband, Reverend Toma Goshewe Yilwatda, contributed immensely to the growth of the church in Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, and Plateau states.

The statement added, “There is no doubt that the late Mama’s death is painful and devastating to the Yilwatdas, because she died at the time her motherly advice and prayers were most needed, particularly to the National Chairman Professor Yilwatda.

“The consoling record is that the deceased left behind an indelible and accomplished legacy, which is manifested in her children.

“Surely her demise is a great loss to the Church and the Women’s fellowship as well as Plateau State.

While sharing with Professor Yilwatda in his moment of grief, the Party prays God to grant the late Mama’s Soul an eternal rest.

PoliticsYiaga Africa To Tinubu: Publish INEC Chair Nominees For Public Scrutiny by Bobloco(op): 12:17pm On Aug 17, 2025
......before n’assembly screening

Yiaga Africa has asked President Bola Tinubu to publish the names of potential candidates for the position of chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and subject them to public scrutiny before screening by the national assembly.

Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC chairman, will step down in October after serving the maximum two terms, totalling 10 years, while about 10 national commissioners will also leave office before the 2027 elections.

Speaking on Friday during a roundtable discussion on “Safeguarding the Independence of INEC”, Samson Itodo, executive director of Yiaga Africa, said the transitions “would perhaps make INEC weaker and also impact the quality of the next elections”.

“And so, we have said that aside from the constitutional requirements of questionable integrity and non-partisanship, there’s a great need to look for people who have experience in elections or in a related field because elections are a complex technical activity,” Itodo said.

“The second point is to look for individuals who are independently minded, individuals who cannot be swayed by any form of political persuasion, individuals who can withstand political pressure because it serves the interest of Nigeria, whether it is the incumbent or even the opposition.

“And for the third part, you need people with mental alertness. The INEC job is very complex and tasking, so you need people who are alert to manage elections.

“Before he sends a nomination to the national assembly, can you publish the list of people he’s considering, ask citizens and civil society and professional organisations to submit objections and memos on those people, interview them, and have a first screening process before you send those names?

“If the next elections are really going to be credible and the perception of integrity is going to be high, it’s going to begin with the appointment process for the next INEC chairman and the national commissioners.

“And so, we are saying that the president has an opportunity, and the national assembly does have an opportunity to do what will inspire public confidence in this electoral process and let them not treat these appointments with any form of executive overreach or political manipulation.”

PoliticsKaduna PDP: Seized ₦25.9m Was For Welfare Of 5,000 Party Agents, Not Vote Buying by Bobloco(op): 9:27am On Aug 17, 2025
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna says the N25.9 million cash seized from one of its members during Saturday’s by-election was meant for the welfare of 5,000 party agents.

On Saturday, police officers arrested one Shehu Aliyu Patangi with about N25,963,000 at a popular hotel located along Turunku Road in Kaduna metropolis.

The police alleged that the seized cash was set aside to induce voters during the polls.

By-elections took place on Saturday in three constituencies in Kaduna — Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency, Basawa state constituency, and Zaria/Kewaye state constituency.

Speaking at a press conference, Edward Masha, Kaduna PDP chairman, said the N25.9 million was not meant for vote buying as alleged by the police.

Masha said PDP mobilised over 6,000 agents across the three constituencies for the by-election, adding that the funds were meant for the welfare of the agents and supervisors.

“Let me make it clear that money was for election logistics,” he said.

“We have 169 polling units. We have party agents, supervisors, and collation officers across the three constituencies. Even if you give them N3,000 each, it is over N30 million.

“That is the reality. To now turn around and say it was for vote buying is mischievous and an insult to the intelligence of Nigerians.”

The Kaduna PDP chairman alleged that the party has been the target of harassment by security operatives “at the behest of the Kaduna state government”.

He alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is weaponising state institutions to intimidate the opposition.

Masha said security operatives on Friday raided the campaign council office of Esther Ashivelli Dawaki, PDP candidate for the Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency.

He alleged that party officials, including the state publicity secretary, zonal chairman, youth leader, women leaders, and over 18 others, were whisked away during the raid.

PoliticsOmoluabi Group Alleges Plot To Assassinate Ex-minister, Rauf Aregbesola by Bobloco(op): 8:34am On Aug 17, 2025
The Omoluabi Progressives has raised alarm over an alleged coordinated attempt to eliminate former Minister of Interior and ex-governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson and organising secretary, Oluwaseun Abosede and obtained by DAILY POST on Sunday, the group said recent incidents point to a political and physical campaign to silence the former Minister.

The organisation alleged that inflammatory remarks, veiled threats and state-backed actions, had combined to fuel suspicion of a wider agenda against Aregbesola.

“Taken together, these developments raise genuine fears that a sinister agenda is being orchestrated to silence him permanently under the guise of politics,” the statement read.

According to the group, “Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, made a declaration at a rally on July 23, 2025, interpreted as a call for violence. He reportedly stated in Yoruba, ‘Ilẹ o mú wọn’ meaning ‘the land will consume them’, a phrase the group said was directed at Aregbesola.”

The statement also cited a social media post on August 2, 2025, in which journalist, Mayor Akinpelu wrote that “no man could repay good with evil and get away with it.”

The group noted that the article, amplified by Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, suggested dire consequences for Aregbesola.

The Omoluabi Progressives, which said such rhetoric amounted to incitement to violence, added that tension arose on August 14, 2025, when a journalist, Gbonka Ebiri allegedly described Aregbesola as a sell-out and called for him to face the wrath of Yorubaland.

On the same day, the group alleged, “police operatives with an Armoured Personnel Carrier disrupted an African Democratic Congress rally in Sagamu, Ogun State.

“The event was scheduled to be addressed by Aregbesola in support of Hon. Solomon Oluwaseyi Osho, candidate in the House of Representatives bye-election.

“The venue was reportedly vandalised, equipment seized and Aregbesola prevented from attending the event.”

The group said police attempts to downplay the disruption only deepened suspicion of political interference.

Omoluabi Progressives described the pattern of rhetoric and physical obstruction as the anatomy of assassination politics and called for urgent action to ensure the safety of the former governor.

The group aligned itself with the Coalition of Oodua Self-Determination Groups, which condemned the threats through its chairman, Dayo Ogunlana who said that, “Yoruba politics must not descend into intimidation and violence.”

The statement, while highlighting Aregbesola’s contributions to Yoruba society, cited his reconciliation efforts within the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, and his developmental projects in Osun and Lagos States.

It stressed that Aregbesola had committed no offence in pursuing an independent political path and that his constitutional rights must be respected.

The Omoluabi Progressives also warned that any attempt to harm Aregbesola would be resisted.

The group urged Nigerians to take note of remarks by appointees and supporters of President Bola Tinubu and called on security agencies to act decisively.

“The safety, dignity, and political rights of Yoruba leaders must not be sacrificed on the altar of opportunism.

“Any further escalation of threats could endanger Aregbesola and undermine peace in Yorubaland,” it concluded.

PoliticsRe: APC And The Terrorism Label: A Nation Must Look Within by Bobloco(op): 4:01am On Aug 17, 2025
WizardOfNG:
@OP.

It is you and your kinsmen who needs to "look within" per your penchant for always rushing unobjectively and automatically to demarket your nation by supporting whatever/whoever wrongs her.

As I said when the first thread about this topic appeared, what the Canadian judge did is wrong and a judgement beyond his jurisdiction to reach. See below and especially note the position of International law.

I,ve stated it before that Nigeria merely needs to officially petion the AGF of Canada to get this nonsense repealed and the judge sanctioned.

A nation cannot declare the Political Parties of another Sovereign nation, to include her ruling Party that has produced her President or head of State, as terrorists.

Commonsense should tell you that the Canadian Government offically recognised the legitimacy of our democracy, Presidency and ruling Party.

This is why Canada is a diplomatic and trading partner with Nigeria to the extent our nation is the largest trading partner of Canada in Africa.

How can a judge within Canada then declare what the Canadian Government has not done and has no power to do?

The conduct of political parties of sovereign nation is their internal affairs in the eyes of International law.

It speaks volume, negatively, of you people from а certain ethnic group that at no stage at all do you feel compelled to defend Nigeria even when it is obvious she has been wronged.

Rather you rush to declare every illegality against her as valid and in order. Yet you want one of your one to be President of a nation you clearly hate. What a joke.
Your long-winded ránt is a classic case of dodging substance with emotion, misinformation, and tired tribal dog whistles.

Listen, criticizing a government isn’t the same as hating the country. That kind of logic is not only flawed, it's dangerous. If you think patriotism means blind loyalty to politicians or parties especially just because the politician is from your tribe then you're making a serious mistake. “A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.”

Now, your take on international law is frankly embarrassing. Judges in democratic countries are independent they don’t need clearance from trade departments or foreign ministries to rule on asylum or terrorism-related claims. That’s basic civics.

If you truly believe the Canadian judge overstepped, then go through the proper legal channels. Canada has a functioning legal system with appeal mechanisms. But calling for a judge to be sanctioned simply because the ruling exposes your political party or the political party you support shows a deep misunderstanding of how the rule of law works.

Dragging in ethnicity every time your argument collapses isn’t just lazy, it’s toxic. If your defense of APC relies on tribal scapegoating, then maybe it’s your party that seriously needs to look within.

And since you mentioned “demarketing Nigeria”. let’s be honest: no one has done more damage to Nigeria’s image than the very government you defend. You can’t have a dlórd, idéntity thiéf, certificáte fórgér, and buccaneering crîmînál power-grabber leading the ruling party and by extension, the country and then pretend it’s critics who are the problem.

If the world is now linking APC to terrorism, maybe that’s not sabotage from the outside. Maybe it’s accountability knocking from the inside.
PoliticsAPC And The Terrorism Label: A Nation Must Look Within by Bobloco(op): 8:35pm On Aug 16, 2025
A Canadian court's designation of Nigeria's ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a terrorist organization is a damning international indictment. While the ruling may shock some, it underscores growing global concern over the APC’s ties to political violence, armed militias, and the steady erosion of democratic norms.

For years, APC politicians have been linked to the sponsorship of terrorist groups including Boko Haram, armed bandits, killer herdsmen and ethnic militias often disguised as vigilantes. During elections, thugs, hoodlums, and agberos are routinely unleashed to intimidate voters, snatch ballots, and sabotage the democratic process. Infamous statements like “grab, snatch, and run” have normalized electoral terrorism in Nigeria.

Beyond the ballot box, Nigeria is witnessing a total criminal state capture. Key institutions legislature, judiciary, security forces etc have been compromised. The misuse of state power, including unconstitutional declarations of states of emergency and the unlawful removal of elected institutions, borders on political terrorism. These acts have further destabilized an already fragile democracy.

This ruling should not be dismissed as foreign interference. It must be seen as a wake-up call a moment for deep national reflection. The APC must address its internal rot and sever ties with violent actors. Nigerians must rise above partisan loyalty to demand real accountability and an end to political violence.

This is no longer just about the APC, it is about the soul of the Nigerian state. The time for denial is over. The time for truth, introspection, and urgent reform is now.
PoliticsLP Crisis: Your Tenure Has Expired, INEC Tells Abure by Bobloco(op): 8:32am On Aug 16, 2025
*Obi’s faction bounces back

*Abure mum, Nenadi hails move, extends olive branch

*Otti, former treasurer, Osuntokun, others hail electoral umpire

*Stop causing confusion, join progressives to rebuild party, Otti tells Abure

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday, withdrew its recognition of Julius Abure as National Chairman of the Labour Party, in line with the Supreme Court judgement of April 4, 2025.

The move, which appears to resolve the protracted leadership crisis ravaging the LP in favour of the faction supported by the party’s 2023 Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi, elicited celebrations among party leaders last night.

The ululations were hinged on the support that the Acting National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman-led team would give Mr Obi in the 2027 presidential poll.

Faced with an unsupportive stance from Abure, the former Anambra State Governor joined forces with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, Malam Nasir el-Rufai among others to drive a coalition that chose the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as a vehicle to challenge President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2027.

Even at that, it is difficult to tell if Obi would get the presidential ticket of the ADC as opposed to that of the LP led by Nenadi.

The electoral umpire”s decision has laid to rest the controversy generated by the conflicting interpretations of the Supreme Court Judgement by factions of the LP.

INEC’s verdict
INEC’s position was contained in an affidavit sighted, in Abuja, on Friday.

The electoral management body also invalidated the controversial convention held by the Abure-led faction in Nnewi, Anambra State on March, 27, 2024.

INEC had in response to the affidavit filed by Abure’s legal team, filed a counter affidavit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1523/2025.

In its counter affidavit deposed to by its Executive Officer (Litigation and Prosecution), Mr. Ayuba Mohammed, INEC stated that the tenure of Julius Abure as National Chairman of LP had expired as clearly stated in the Supreme Court judgement of April 4, 2025.

Explaining INEC’s decisions in its dealings with Abure and the LP after then, Mohammed deposed that: “The defendant (INEC) cannot accept and issue access code for upload of candidates nomination forms EC9, EC9f and EC 9g for the bye-election scheduled for 16/8/2025 to plaintiff (Abure-led LP) as there were no valid National Chairman and National Secretary for defendants to deal with as provided in exhibit INEC 2.”

On the issue of the Nnewi Convention purportedly held by Abure, INEC affirmed that it neither monitored nor recognized the controversial March 27, 2024 “National Convention” in Nnewi, Anambra State, where Abure claimed he was re-elected, noting that the entire exercise was conducted in breach of the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, INEC’s own guidelines, and the Labour Party’s constitution.

INEC also referenced the Supreme Court’s April 4, 2025 judgment (Appeal No. SC/CV/56/2025), which struck out the suit underpinning Abure’s claims for lack of jurisdiction, effectively nullifying all prior rulings that had purported to affirm his leadership.

Usman extends olive branch to Abure, others
Reacting, to the latest development, the Acting National Chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Nenadi Usman, welcomed INEC’s stance and extended the olive branch to aggrieved party members urging them to join her in the task of rebuilding the party.

In a statement she issued in Abuja, Usman said: “I received with profound relief and deep satisfaction the news of the judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1523/2025, which today dismissed in its entirety the case instituted by Mr. Julius Abure against the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“This decision stands as yet another unambiguous and authoritative affirmation of the rule of law and the judiciary’s steadfast consistency in upholding the binding pronouncements of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

“This latest judgment aligns squarely with the earlier decision of the Supreme Court, delivered on 4 April 2025 in Appeal No. SC/CV/56/2025, which unequivocally nullified all previous recognitions of Mr. Abure’s purported leadership of the Labour Party. In its wisdom – and in strict adherence to the Supreme Court’s final pronouncement – the Federal High Court in Abuja rightly struck out the originating suit for want of jurisdiction. That decision of the apex court remains binding on all persons and authorities in Nigeria pursuant to Section 287 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“I must also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission for the clarity, courage, and institutional integrity reflected in its counter-affidavit during the pendency of the case.

“In that sworn testimony before the court, INEC categorically confirmed that the tenure of Mr. Abure

, along with that of the entire National Executive Committee, expired in June 2024.

“The Commission further affirmed that it neither monitored nor recognised the purported National Convention held in Nnewi on 27 March 2024, having found it to be in flagrant breach of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, INEC’s own Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties 2022, and the Labour Party Constitution.

“This unequivocal position, rendered under oath by the nation’s electoral umpire before a competent court of law, removes all lingering doubts and reinforces the imperative for every member, officer, and stakeholder of our great party to submit, at all times, to the supremacy of our Constitution and the dictates of the rule of law.

“With this judgment – and INEC’s clear, unambiguous stance – it is time for all members of the Labour Party to put this needless distraction behind us and to recommit ourselves to the urgent task of rebuilding and repositioning our party into the credible, disciplined, and people-centred political movement that Nigerians deserve.

“Under my leadership as Interim National Chairman, I remain unwavering in my commitment to ensuring strict compliance with our party’s Constitution, entrenching transparent internal democratic processes, and restoring unity, discipline, and shared purpose as we prepare for the political contests ahead.”

INEC has removed all doubts-Ex-national treasurer
Speaking in a similar vein, the party’s former National Treasurer, Mrs. Opara said the depos/tion “removes any lingering doubt” about the leadership question.

“This is a fresh, unequivocal statement under oath by the electoral umpire that Julius Abure is not the national chairman of the Labour Party. It aligns perfectly with the Supreme Court’s binding judgment. Nigerians should ignore any contrary propaganda,” she said.

She accused Abure of clinging to power “through publicity stunts” and urged members to focus on lawful processes.

“The law is clear: his tenure expired in June 2024, the Nnewi Convention was invalid, and the Supreme Court has spoken. This counter-affidavit is yet another nail in the coffin of these desperate claims,” she added.

The Electoral umpire may have finally laid to rest Abure’s claims and adamant posture in clinging to the leadership of the party even after the Apex Court had ruled.

It’s long overdue— Otti
In a quick response, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, LP’s sole state helmsman, hailed the INEC for recognising the Senator Nenadi Usman-led leadership of the LP as the authentic leadership of the party.

Governor Otti described the action of INEC as a welcome development and long overdue.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor also commended all other agencies of government that assisted in ensuring that the judgment of the Supreme Court on the matter prevailed.

He said: “We are grateful to INEC. We are grateful to all the agencies of government that played one role or the other to ensure that the judgment of the Supreme Court was finally respected.

“It was long overdue, it was long expected. When you look at what transpired in court, when you look at even what INEC filed, a counter-affidavit, firmly explaining and insisting that Julius Abure’s tenure had expired and he had no locus to impose himself as the national chairman of the party.

“So, what INEC did is to ensure that order is restored; that normalcy is restored; that peace is restored; that cohesion and togetherness is achieved.

“With what has happened, we begin the process of reconciliation and restoration and begin to head to the right direction. We have no issues. Members have been very enthusiastic about it. They want our party to be peaceful. They want us to work like a family. And, of course, we are going to begin that process.”

He urged Abure to embrace peace and join the progressives in the on-going efforts to rebuild the party.

“If they (Abure and his followers) are desirous of moving our party forward, they should join hands with all the progressives that are in the party to ensure that we get to the right direction.

“The decision of INEC, of course, is very much in tandem with the Supreme Court judgment, which earlier de-recognized Abure and firmly stated that Abure’s tenure had expired and we had expected Abure to respect the judgment of the Supreme Court.

“He didn’t actually need to wait for INEC to do what they just did. But since he decided to wait, now finally INEC has decided to respect the Supreme Court’s judgment, which is in tandem with our laws. The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land and once the Supreme Court speaks, everybody is expected to respect and adhere strictly to whatever the Supreme Court has said. So, we are happy.

“Abure and his group are expected to join hands with other progressives in the party to move our party forward. LP is a group of progressives.

“Abure and co may have erred but then the leadership of the party will decide what will be their fate. But if they are progressives, they should desist from causing confusion.”

PoliticsProvide Social Safety Net For Nigerians, Okonjo-Iweala Tells Tinubu by Bobloco(op): 1:34am On Aug 16, 2025
The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to introduce social safety nets to protect vulnerable Nigerians from the harsh impact of ongoing economic reforms.

Speaking to State House correspondents after a meeting with the President on Thursday in Abuja, Okonjo-Iweala said both the federal government and the WTO had launched a Women Exporters Fund to empower Nigerian women and boost their economic participation.

Her comments come amid rising poverty levels and soaring inflation following the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira in 2023—two policies that have significantly increased living costs.

The World Bank had earlier projected that Nigeria’s poverty rate would rise by 3.6 percent over the next five years, citing structural challenges such as over-reliance on natural resources and national fragility.

According to its Africa’s Pulse report, resource-rich and fragile countries like Nigeria are likely to experience worsening poverty levels compared to non-resource-rich African countries.

Okonjo-Iweala acknowledged the government’s reform efforts, commending President Tinubu for stabilising the economy.

“You cannot really improve an economy unless it’s stable, so he has to be given credit for that.

“The reforms are in the right direction. What is needed next is growth—and alongside that, we must put in place social safety nets so those feeling the pinch can weather the hardship,” she said.

She said cushioning the effects of the reforms would require targeted support for the poorest Nigerians while creating jobs and increasing household incomes.

The WTO chief also highlighted the new Women Exporters Fund as part of these broader safety nets.

“With the help of the First Lady, we launched a fund to support women so they can weather economic storms, create jobs, and contribute more to the economy,” she said, noting that the initiative was spearheaded by the Minister of Trade and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council.

PoliticsBy-Election: Peter Obi Now ‘Uber’ Politician - Julius Abure by Bobloco(op): 8:11am On Aug 15, 2025
The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party, LP, has described the presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi as an ‘Uber’ politician.

Abure said this in a statement he personally signed on Friday.

Abure slammed Obi, saying that he is now reputed to have elevated subterfuge in the game of politics and had of late been crying wolf where there was none.

According to him, Obi has booked a place for himself in the Guinness book of records as a person affiliated to many political parties pari pasu, all in his desperation to preside over Nigeria.

“It is unfortunate that Obi has turned himself to an irony and a paradox in the Nigeria political space.

“He has turned himself into “Uber” politician, not willing to take a position and stand by his decision,” he said

Abure said this in response to Obi’s directives ahead of the August 16 by-elections across the country.

DAILY POST recalls that Obi had asked his supporters to back the candidates of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, during the forthcoming by-elections across some states in the country.

PoliticsFrom Promise To Darkness: Why Should Tinubu Deserve Your Vote In 2027? by Bobloco(op): 8:46am On Aug 14, 2025
In 2023, Bola Ahmed Tinubu stood before millions of Nigerians and made a bold, unequivocal promise: he would fix Nigeria's long-standing electricity crisis. He said, “If I don’t give you constant electricity, don’t vote for me when I come back for 2nd term.”

It was a rare moment of political clarity in a country where politicians are often masters of ambiguity. The line resonated deeply with a weary population hopeful, tired, and desperate for light.

Two years on, and as we approach 2027, Nigeria remains as trapped in darkness as ever.

Electricity generation continues to wobble between 3,000MW and 4,500MW, with a recent peak of 5,105 megawatts, laughable for a country of over 200 million people. Blackouts are still the norm. Businesses continue to hemorrhage money daily running expensive petrol and diesel generators. Children still study and write exams by candlelight and Nokia phone torchlights. Hospitals still lose lives to power outages.

So why would anyone, in good conscience, re-elect a man who promised light but delivered nothing but more darkness?

PoliticsNigerians Have No Reason To Be Poor – Tinubu by Bobloco(op): 12:37pm On Aug 13, 2025
President Bola Tinubu has said Nigerians have no reason to be poor, reiterating his administration’s commitment to promoting the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.

Tinubu made the statement at the 8th Expanded National MSME Clinic in Calabar on Wednesday.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, he said the country had boundless human and natural resources at its disposal.

The president said Cross River, as a state, had the capacity to grow almost every crop because of its fertile land.

“The Federal Government intends to plant 100 million oil palm trees, more than any other state. Cross River has an advantage,” he said.

Tinubu further said that upon assumption of office, his government guaranteed access to capital and pledged to support ventures that would redefine the future of work, skills, and industry.

He commended the Cross River Government for establishing a state-of-the-art communication and technology hub for MSMEs, saying, “This aligns the state with trends in digital technology.”

“The hub will give MSMEs affordable access to high-speed internet, modern equipment, and a collaborative space to learn and innovate, remembering that the digital world is a window to diverse markets.

“The digital world has space for the market woman in Ikom, the furniture maker in Calabar, and the fashion designer in Ogoja, Ugep, or Odukpani.

“This is why my administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is a commitment to creating an environment where MSMEs not only survive but thrive.

“Our commitment is not just to give loans or grants, but to build an ecosystem that provides infrastructure and enhances the creativity of entrepreneurs,” he said.

In his speech, Gov. Bassey Otu described the 8th MSME Clinic as a special-purpose initiative between Cross River and the Federal Government.

Otu said the essence was to enhance the entrepreneurial spirit of the citizens and grow the economy of the state.

He said that through the Micro Finance and Enterprise Development Agency, the state government had trained no fewer than 3,500 entrepreneurs in different facets of entrepreneurship.

The governor stated that the gains of MSMEs were boundless, noting that with collective exploration, they have the capacity to raise the people’s standard of living.

Otu commended the president for his foresight and expressed the commitment of the state government to support the realisation of his Renewed Hope Agenda.

Mr. Pius Neji, the Head, Bank of Industry (BOI), Cross River office, said the bank was a fundamental friend and partner in progress to entrepreneurs.

Neji said the BOI had been giving out funds to assist businesses in rural areas, and that it had already disbursed about N260 million to MSMEs in the state.

“Cross River is a good place for our entrepreneurs, and the state has what it takes to make Nigeria greater. The industrialisation of Cross River can take Nigeria to the next level,” he said

PoliticsYou Don’t Deserve To Hold A Public Office - Mr Macaroni Slams Abike Dabiri by Bobloco(op): 7:21am On Aug 13, 2025
‘You don’t deserve to hold a public office - Mr Macaroni slams NIDCOM boss Abike Dabiri-Erewa over her tweet on KWAM1’s apology

Actor, Debo Adebayo aka Mr Macaroni, has slammed NIDCOM boss, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, over her tweet on singer, Wasiu Ayinde aka KWAM1.

Recall that an altercation ensued between the Fuji star and some employees of ValueJet at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, last Tuesday, after he was stopped from boarding a flight with a flask which they claimed contained alcohol.

The pilot of the aircraft, Captain Ranti Ogoyi also claimed KWAM1 spilled the contents of his flask on her after she approached him to settle the matter. The singer then tried to prevent the aircraft from flying without him as he stood in front of it.

In a video shared, KWAM1 is seen on the tarmac refusing to move away from the aircraft, potentially hindering its departure, and narrowly avoided being hit by the plane as it taxied.

Following his incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and the public outcry, the Fuji music maestro was forced to tender an apology to President Tinubu, the captain of the flight, his fans and any other person that felt offended by his actions.

Ms Abike who is close friend of the singer, shared a video of him apologising and wrote ‘’Kwam1's apology on the airport incident. To err is human''

Many Nigerians felt her post was insensitive as it was not advocating for the singer to pay for the crime committed but that it be overlooked because of his apology.

Mr Macaroni took to his X handle to tackle Abike. He argued that by her tweet, Ms Abike has shown she doesn't deserve to hold a public office, adding that her Tweet means it is okay to commit a crime, issue an apology and absolve themselves without any consequences.

Like I said to your colleagues above. Una 1000 can't stop Nigeria's progress.

Government initiate projects, you people will go against it, projects in progress, you must still find fault inside when you people are not witch
So because Tinubu is building a Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Nigeria is suddenly progressing, and anyone who questions the shady, opaque way it was awarded is automatically the enemy of progress?

helinus, that logic is not just flawed it’s dangerous. You don’t defend progress by shutting down accountability. You defend corruption.

Projects without transparency, due process, or Environmental Impact Assessments are not “progress”. And if you can't understand that, then yes, you may be too far gone to reason with. Irredeemable isn't even the word, it’s willful ignorance on steroids.

What's your likes business with the Lagos - Calabar coastal highway. Did you support the project initially?

If the answer is No, isn't it anything to fault the projects your likes have been doing since.

Nigeria will be better , you all will witness it as all this bad Belle can never stop the progress
helinus, so by your skewed, painfully mundane logic, only those who blindly supported the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway from the start have the right to question its shady execution?

That mindset is exactly why Nigeria remains trapped in a cycle of corruption and zero accountability. This isn’t a private estate project for your political idol, it’s a public, multi-trillion naira infrastructure funded by taxpayers. And as such, it must follow due process: Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), competitive bidding, stakeholder consultation, and transparency, all clearly mandated by the Procurement Act.

But instead of demanding answers on why a project of this scale was rushed without fulfilling these legal obligations, you're out here screaming "bad belle" like that's a valid counterargument.

Listen carefully, Criticizing a dubious project isn't hate. It's called citizenship. Kindly let that sink into your sk.ull.

If you truly cared about Nigeria’s progress, you’d be asking the hard questions with the rest of us. But clearly, when loyalty to power outweighs loyalty to truth, silence becomes your comfort zone.

Blind tribal loyalty like the one you exhibit here has never built a nation. Accountability has.
PoliticsEFCC Targeting David Mark After Tambuwal, Ihedioha – ADC by Bobloco(op): 5:26am On Aug 13, 2025
The African Democratic Congress on Tuesday accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of singling out opposition figures for politically motivated investigations, alleging that the agency’s latest target is its Interim National Chairman and former Senate President, David Mark.

In a statement by its acting National Publicity Secretary, Bola Abdullahi, the ADC said the EFCC had embarked on a “choreographed media trial” against coalition leaders after the detention of former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, on Monday and the invitation of former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha.

“The EFCC has now surreptitiously started excavating all the files from David Mark’s tenure as Senate President, 10 years after he left office,” Abdullahi said, questioning the timing of the investigations. “The pattern of ignoring APC stalwarts with fresher and well-documented cases, while targeting opposition figures with stale allegations, is proof of selective justice and an assault on political freedom.”

The party alleged that the crackdown was part of the ruling All Progressives Congress’ strategy to weaken the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It urged Nigerians to demand an end to what it described as “witch-hunt disguised as anti-corruption.”

He said, “Following our earlier release on Monday, we wish to bring to the public’s attention fresh details that expose the extent of this coordinated assault on the opposition. The detention of one of our leaders, former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, has marked the start of the crackdown intended to intimidate key leaders of the opposition and discredit them through media trials.

“Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha served as Governor of Imo State for just seven months, from May 29, 2019, until the Supreme Court removed him on January 14, 2020 — a full five years and seven months ago. We, therefore, wonder what makes investigating him suddenly urgent now.”

Abdullahi accused the EFCC of selective justice and an assault on political freedom, saying, “Having failed to stop the coalition, the jittery ruling party’s next move is to discredit its leaders by getting the EFCC to accuse them of looting the entire treasuries. These are calculated media trials; it matters little whether there is a basis for these accusations — the game is the circus show.”

Similarly, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar accused President Bola Tinubu of “objectifying the fight against corruption as a political tool to coerce opposition leaders into the ruling party.”

In a statement on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday, Atiku said, “The only reason the EFCC has detained the former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, is because he is a member of the opposition coalition. It is a continuation of the Tinubu-led administration’s agenda to harass, intimidate, and decimate the opposition.”

Atiku accused Tinubu of abuse of power, saying, “It is as though today, anyone who associates with the opposition is a target for phantom corruption allegations, and as soon as they are coerced into the political agenda of President Tinubu, their ‘sins’ are forgiven. That is not how to fight the monster of corruption. Indeed, such tendencies provide the stimulant for corruption to thrive. While the genuine fight against corruption is a matter that requires the total support of all Nigerians, the objectification of it as a political agenda should be roundly condemned.”

Also, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria critised the move against opposition politicians, describing the EFCC as “an obedient lapdog deployed to do the dirty political work of the ruling All Progressives Congress.”

In a statement on Tuesday, HURIWA National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, said the move was intended to “break the spine of the opposition before the 2027 race.”

Onwubiko said, “Every discerning Nigerian can see the handwriting on the wall. The EFCC is no longer the fearless watchdog envisioned by law.”

EFCC, Presidency reject claims

Hoever, the EFCC dismissed the accusations as “self-serving, diversionary, narrow and idle.”

The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, in a statement, said, “If I am not condemned for investigating both former and serving strong ruling party governors and ministers, I should not be condemned for also investigating opposition figures. Fraud is fraud. Corruption is corruption. There is no sacred cow, protected interest or partisan consideration in the investigation and prosecution of corruption.”

He added, “Available records in our courts show that several political figures from all divides are answering charges. It is also public knowledge that the EFCC is busy investigating some key figures of the ruling party owing to allegations of corrupt practices.”

Similarly, presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga, distanced President Tinubu from the probe of the opposition politicians.

Responding to questions by The PUNCH, Onanuga said, “We are not the EFCC, we represent the President here. We are not the EFCC, you can call the EFCC to find out whether they are weaponising any arrests or whatever. It’s not our business, so we can’t be seen to be defending them or supporting them.”

Afenifere disowns coalition

Meanwhile, pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, denied reports linking it to the ADC-led coalition.

In a statement on Tuesday, the organisation’s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, said, “Afenifere is not against any political group, but it is not in cahoots with any political party since it is non-partisan politically… Afenifere is for all the Yorubas… talking about coalition or no coalition is, therefore, a distraction that we cannot afford.”

Coalition woos youths

On Tuesday, the ADC promised to ensure greater inclusion of young Nigerians in its activities, programmes, and policies when it comes into power.

This assurance was given by the party’s Interim National Chairman, David Mark, and National Youth Leader, Balarabe Rufai, during its International Youth Day event held in Abuja on Tuesday.

IYD, observed annually on August 12, raises global awareness of youth-related issues while celebrating their potential as vital contributors to society.

The 2025 theme, “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” underscores the critical role young people play in turning global goals into impactful, community-based initiatives.

Represented by coalition leader and former APC vice chairman (North-West), Salihu Lukman, Mark pledged ADC’s commitment to true democracy, rejecting imposition, favouritism, and unaccountable politics.

He stated, “We will uphold collective leadership at every level, ensuring every member has a voice. This is your party, truly owned by its members, without exception.

“Our grassroots structures will be revitalised to reflect modern realities. From polling units and wards to the national stage, every organ of our party will be re-energised for active participation.

“To our young people: ADC is your home. We are opening the doors for the next generation, not as a gesture, but as a commitment. Our policies, candidate selection, and leadership roles will ensure real inclusion of youths and women, not tokenism. That is why 35% of leadership positions are reserved for women, and leadership roles will include Nigerians under 40.

“Nigerians will know ADC as a party driven by clear ideology, progressive policies, and patriotic governance. We will not leave leadership direction to chance.”

Mark encouraged Nigerian youths to join the ADC, describing it as a focused, principled, and people-oriented coalition committed to delivering good governance for all.

“On this International Youth Day, I call on all Nigerians to join us. ADC is the party of equal opportunity, where age, gender, religion, or region are never barriers. Our handshake is extended to all—across every divide, because the future we build is one we build together, he added.

Earlier, Rufai stated that if Nigerian youths cannot transform their streets, they cannot transform the nation, warning that without changing Nigeria, Africa will remain at the mercy of others in shaping its future.

The ADC Youth Leader lamented that despite Nigeria having Africa’s largest youth population, with over 70% under 35, it remains the most economically disadvantaged generation since independence.

He stated, “The National Bureau of Statistics reports that 133 million Nigerians are living in multidimensional poverty. Food inflation is over 33%. The National Unemployment Report shows youth unemployment above 53%.

“UNESCO confirms that over 20 million Nigerian children are out of school, the highest in the world. This is not just a policy failure; it is a moral crime. How can the same leaders who boast about GDP growth ignore the fact that our classrooms are empty while our prisons and streets are full of young people without hope?

“The Nigeria Security Tracker recorded over 12,000 deaths from violent attacks in 2024 alone—many of them in communities where youth make up the majority of the victims. In Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, and Kaduna, rural youth are kidnapped for ransom while urban youth are hunted down in the name of “security operations.” And yet, our so-called leaders spend more money on convoy fuel than on community policing.

“Under the theme Local Youth Action for SDGs and Beyond, we must confront the hard truth — in Nigeria and across Africa, young people’s efforts toward achieving the SDGs are shackled by bad government policies, poor budgetary allocations, and a lack of political will. With just five years left before 2030, the gap between developed and developing nations is glaring, and a one-size-fits-all SDG framework is failing to address our unique challenges.

“The African Democratic Congress, guided by its constitution and vision beyond Nigeria, calls on the United Nations to urgently adopt differentiated goals for developed and developing countries so that the realities of poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and educational decline in our societies are not ignored but directly addressed. The youth of Africa cannot continue to be judged by the standards of nations whose histories, economies, and governance structures are worlds apart from ours.”

Rufai affirmed that the ADC’s loyalty lies with Nigeria, not any tribe, region, or the selfish ambitions of a few—vowing to establish lasting systems that serve all citizens, rather than relying on empty post-election slogans.

He continued, “I am not here to tell you to wait. I am here to tell you that e don reach. As the streets say, no be who first start na him dey finish race. The incumbents may have started with power, but if the youth organise, we will finish with victory.

“I speak as someone who has queued for fuel at midnight, borrowed to pay school fees, and seen friends take dangerous journeys across the Sahara and Mediterranean because home gave them no reason to stay. These chains can break, but only if the people wearing them rise together.

“The ADC is ready to give young Nigerians a seat at the table, not as decoration, but as decision-makers. We will champion policies that create real jobs by investing in agro-processing, renewable energy, and tech startups. We will fund education like our lives depend on it—because they do. We will bring security to our communities not by empty promises, but by empowering local security structures and addressing root causes.”

PoliticsJavier Milei, Tinubu Became President Same Time; Argentina Improving - Peter Obi by Bobloco(op): 7:45pm On Aug 11, 2025
.......Nigeria getting worse

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi stated on Monday that, although President Bola Tinubu and President Javier Milei assumed office in the same period, things have improved in Argentina, while they have worsened in Nigeria.

Citing Argentina as an example of a country making progress, though once confronted with similar challenges to those faced by Nigeria, Mr Obi pointed out that Argentina and “the current Nigerian leadership assumed office in the same year,” but the Latin American country had made significant progress.

Mr Milei took office as president on December 10, 2023. Mr Tinubu was sworn in as Nigeria’s president on May 29, 2023.

“A recent example is what is happening in Argentina. In Argentina, over 52% of its population lived in poverty by early 2024, according to the World Bank, with millions of Argentines unable to meet basic needs. Inflation was above 200%, and economic confidence had collapsed.

“Yet, within two years, through decisive action to cut waste in governance and prioritize economic stability, the newly inaugurated president was able to cut down the poverty rate to 38.1% from 52% in just 2 years and extreme poverty fell to 8.2%, with inflation just around 2–3% monthly,” Mr Obi said.

The politician added that as of 2025, urban poverty had declined to 31.6%, lifting millions of people out of poverty. Investor confidence grew, and the economy began to grow.

“The people now see real improvements in their daily lives,” noted Mr Obi in a statement on X.

“Hunger and poverty are not just distant statistics; they are the harsh reality that millions of our people face daily,” the opposition figure stated.

“Families who once lived stable lives are now slipping into poverty. But this is not just ordinary, it is as a result of incompetent leadership without capacity and compassion, who are not interested in putting the Nigerian people first in their actions,” Mr Obi stated.

He added, “Recently, the United Nations stated that about 34 million Nigerians will face acute food insecurity, and about 63% of our population, which is about 133 million people, now live in multidimensional poverty.

The Labour Party politician, who is aligning with the African Democratic Congress, lamented the hardship brought about by Mr Tinubu’s harsh economic policies.

“Inflation, even with the suppressed statistics, is nearly 30%, while unemployment and economic mismanagement have nearly wiped out our once vibrant middle class,” stated the politician.

While Mr Obi admitted that “two years may not be enough to change a nation with a 100% turn”, he insisted that “it is more than enough to kickstart the transformation journey”.

He added, “Nigeria can work. We can reduce hunger and restore dignity to Nigerians. But this will not happen while corruption and criminality dominate our governance. Our nation requires leaders who will put the people first, manage resources prudently, and stand firm in rejecting corrupt practices.

“Nigeria will work, but only if we, as leaders, commit to tackling corruption, cutting the cost of governance, and focusing on critical areas of development like education, healthcare, and lifting the people out of poverty, just as other nations have done with remarkable results.”

Last week, Mr Tinubu’s government stated that, although Nigerians are experiencing economic hardship, opposition politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Mr Obi, as well as other critics, should not exaggerate the pain and suffering of Nigerians.

PoliticsOsun People ‘ll Punish APC For ‘deliberately Withholding’ LG Allocations, by Bobloco(op): 9:11pm On Aug 10, 2025
......Says State Gov’t

The Osun State Government has accused the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating the illegal withholding of local government allocations in the state, warning that Osun people will “harshly punish” the APC at the polls for what it described as an “inhuman” act.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said the APC was “deliberately punishing the people and the performing Governor of Osun State” by blocking access to the funds.

“The Osun APC can therefore not hide under fake news any longer as the facts can no longer be twisted. As at today, there is no legal or political basis for the withholding of Osun State local government allocations,” Rasheed stated.

He cited the June 13, 2025 Court of Appeal judgement as having sustained the sack of former APC local government council chairmen and validated the February 22, 2025 local government elections, which brought in the current local government leadership across the state.

“The public is further in the know that the APC chairmen and councillors were sacked by two courts as early as 2022 and their removal was never reversed even by the misinterpreted Court of Appeal judgment of February 10, 2025,” Rasheed said. “We challenge the Osun APC to point out the exact portion of the February 10, 2025, judgment of the Appeal Court where an order for reinstatement was made.”

According to him, prior to the June ruling, the APC “made spirited efforts to breach the law by pushing for the payment of local government allocations to court-sacked APC chairmen” but such attempts “met brick walls on all fronts.”

Rasheed argued that even if the Supreme Court judgement on local government autonomy were to be applied, payment would still have to be made into accounts opened with the duly elected February 22 chairmen and accredited officials as signatories.

He also claimed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was unaware of the fund seizure until reading about it in the Nigerian Tribune during the Eid holidays. “This means that the Attorney-General of the Federation instructed the Accountant-General of the Federation to withhold the funds without presidential approval,” he alleged, urging the President to “intervene and order the release of Osun local government allocations.”

The statement concluded with a warning to the opposition: “Osun APC should therefore retrace her anti-people posture and ensure immediate release of Osun allocation to the rightly elected leadership of the local governments… We must put APC on notice that Osun people will harshly punish them through the ballot for their willful inhuman punishment of Osun people.”
