It is mostly particular to igbos. Have you been to south Africa. Before allowed to enter the country, they check your Nigeria passport and if it bears igbo name, they will delay and scrutinized the person but other tribe are allowed easily. The casualties of xenophobic attack were mostly igbos and it was due to drug trafficking. Many of those guys even sell to college students.
It’s not really like that, bro.
It’s the media.
There’s a grand scheme using the media to continually push, exaggerate, and keep amplifying issues when it involves the Igbos. Even here on Nairaland, whenever a crime is committed by an Igbo person, it quickly makes the front page, because it’s news and it drives traffic. But if it’s someone from another tribe, it rarely gets that same attention.

Like I said earlier, every tribe has its criminals, drug dealers, traffickers, kingpins, certificate forgers, riggers, kidnappers, you name it.

Blame the mod that continuously take his threads to the front page.
Peterobiisalie is the same person as beerfraud.
Go through the threads started by these person and see the style and intent... He's basically here to do this... Maybe an Internet hireling earning a dirty living by stocking the embers of ethnic tensions all over the blogosphere..

That he acts like this is really not the issue.., the problem here is that both the MODs and the management of the site intentionally helps him to carry on with this sort of tribal slant unhindered. Infact it looks like they encourage him. If you doubt me, try starting threads that deals on crimes from folks in the southwest. None will see the front page.
Why do they pretend to be upset with the rise in ethnic confrontations here then if they tacitly support folks like this boy?
It's quite unfortunate

PoliticsExpect Electoral Reforms Before 2027 — INEC Chairman, Yakubu by Bobloco(op): 8:25am On May 13, 2025
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has said that all necessary amendments to the Electoral Act will be completed before the 2027 elections.

He stated this at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Monday.

He also debunked the insinuation in some quarters that he has been sacked, insisting that he still remains the Chief Electoral Officer for the country.

The INEC Chairman spoke while answering questions from newsmen after he joined other guests to witness the inauguration of two National Commissioners by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the umpire, the commission, alongside relevant stakeholders, has reviewed the 2023 general elections and came up with 142 recommendations, adding that out of the number, eight require electoral amendment.

Professor Yakubu, who said that he was at the State House for the inauguration of two national Commissioners from Southeast and North West, said that the commission now has a full complement of the commissioners as required by law.

On electoral reforms, the INEC boss said that the commission has been interfacing with the National Assembly, adding that two weeks ago, it had a retreat in Lagos with the joint committee of the Senate and House of Representatives on electoral reform.

Thereafter, the National Assembly is going to organize a public hearing, and it’s after the public hearing that now a new bill will, at the end of the day, be submitted to the President for assent,” he said.

So, we’re working with the National Assembly on electoral reform, but at this point, I’m not going to give you any more details. You will hear from the National Assembly whose responsibility it is, but we reviewed the 2023 general elections on our own.

“We engaged with the stakeholders. We came up with 142 recommendations out of this 142 recommendations, eight require constitutional or Electoral Act amendment, and we discussed this with members of the National Assembly.

“So far so good, we are happy with our discussions with them, and we are also happy with the speed with which they want to proceed so that we’ll have some necessary amendments done to the Electoral Act ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

The truth is that every tribe has individuals involved in drug-related activities. This issue isn’t unique to any one group. it’s not the exclusive domain of any particular tribe.
But in your case, you turn a blind eye when it’s someone from your own tribe, yet you suddenly become outraged when it involves someone from the Igbo tribe. That double standard is the real problem

PoliticsEveryone’s Attacking Obi, While He Worries About Nigeria — Amadi by Bobloco(op): 6:33am On May 13, 2025
Former chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, and Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Dr. Sam Amadi, has decried what he termed the growing pattern of unwarranted attacks on the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, by senior government officials, noting that while Nigerian politicians talk about him, Obi talks only about Nigeria’s undeserving condition.

In a commentary he shared on his official X account, Amadi observed that it has become a troubling trend for members of the present administration to frequently target Obi, despite his consistent focus on Nigeria’s dire socio-economic realities, rather than on personalities.

He cited the recent criticisms from the Presidency, the Governor of Lagos State, and Senate President, Godswill Akpabio as examples of this misplaced focus.

Obi had recently remarked that the “labour of our heroes past has gone in vain”-a sobering reflection on the country’s current state of affairs. The observation was met with a sharp rebuke from Senator Akpabio, who accused the former governor of Anambra State of being disrespectful and dishonouring the legacy of Nigeria’s founding fathers.

Before this, the Governor of Lagos State had also lashed out at Obi, reacting to comments he made during a recent foreign engagement, where he critiqued the country’s economic trajectory. The Presidency, too, had earlier dismissed Obi’s ideas and proposals on governance and economic reform.

Amadi, however, offered a counter-narrative, arguing that while the political elite expend significant energy attacking Obi, the man himself remains resolutely focused on Nigeria’s structural challenges and the urgent need for reform.

“If elections were a purely rational exercise, Peter Obi is so far the only candidate who ought to be elected”, Amadi stated.

He lamented what he called the disproportionate attention paid to Obi by high-ranking government figures, asserting that Obi has steered clear of personal attacks and has, instead, consistently advanced a vision for national renewal rooted in prudence, accountability, and economic revitalisation.

Amadi’s intervention has sparked wide engagement online, with many Nigerians echoing his sentiments and urging government officials to redirect their attention to the pressing issues confronting the country, rather than vilifying opposition voices.

PoliticsCourt Adjourns Suit Challenging Tinubu’s Suspension Of Fubara, Others In Rivers by Bobloco(op): 9:36pm On May 12, 2025
The Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned a constitutional suit challenging the suspension of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Odu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly by President Bola Tinubu.

The adjournment was made to May 26, 2025 after a hearing on Monday.

The suit was filed by former federal lawmaker and 2023 Rivers State governorship aspirant, Dr. Farah Dagogo, who argues that President Tinubu’s actions are unconstitutional.

The case challenges the President’s suspension of the state’s democratically elected officials and his appointment of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd) as the state’s Administrator after declaring a state of emergency in Rivers on March 18, 2025. The President cited security concerns as the reason for the declaration.

Dr. Dagogo filed Suit No: FHC/PH/CS/50/2025 on April 9, 2025, contending that the President’s actions lacked constitutional backing and were ultra vires.

During the hearing, Cosmas Enweluzo, SAN, counsel to the plaintiff, informed the court that all defendants had been duly served and were ready to proceed. The defendants named in the suit include President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), the Administrator of Rivers State.

Of all the defendants, only Vice Admiral Ibas appeared through his counsel, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, SAN, who requested additional time to respond to the originating summons. After hearing from both parties, Justice Adamu Turaki Mohammed granted the request but warned that the matter would proceed on the next adjourned date, regardless of further delays.

Speaking after the court session, Enweluzo emphasized that the case is about the President’s violation of the Constitution. He stated, “The President cannot act as a ‘Tin god’. He does not have the constitutional authority to suspend elected representatives or govern over four million Rivers people and those doing business in Rivers State by fiat. It is a constitutional aberration and must not be allowed.”

Enweluzo also questioned the justification for declaring a state of emergency, stating, “The insecurity narrative is unfounded. In states like Benue, Plateau, and Borno, where serious security challenges persist, no state of emergency was declared. Rivers State has remained relatively peaceful.”

He commended Dr. Dagogo for challenging what he described as unconstitutional actions, asserting that citizens have the right to be governed by their elected officials.

Regarding the adjournment, Enweluzo explained that counsel for the fifth defendant (Vice Admiral Ibas) requested additional time to complete filings in response to the originating summons. “Since it was their first request, we agreed,” he said. The court then adjourned the case to May 26, 2025, with the reminder that if delays continue, the court may proceed with the case.

Enweluzo also noted that while all other defendants had been duly served, none had filed a memorandum of appearance or any legal response to the suit.
