Go and read the IRPA very well. The essence of the Spousal Open Work is not primarily to unite the families. It is under the International Mobility Pprogram aimed at supplementing the Canadian labour force. When the Trudea Government took over, he wrote a Mandate Letter to the Minister of Immigration to address the Canadian Labour shortage by uniting families through the Spousal Open Work Permit program. That's why some people believe it is meant to re-unite families. Now, Canada is facing housing crisis and many white Canadians are complaining that foreign students and their families they are bringing to Canada are taking jobs away from them. Today, the popularity of the Liberal Party is dwindling, and the opposition is catching on it that the Liberal Party is bringing in "poor and low class students" to Canada. If you are in Canada, go and be listening to CBC programs on Immigration. Or you join the online forum on Immigration where the white Canadians are prominent. Go and read what they say about the international students and their family members. The Minister of Immigration himself said that as a result of the housing crisis, Canada need to reduce the intake of international students and the temporary foreign workers. How do you expect them to reduce the intake of foreign workers if not by refusing applications

On one hand you said the PM instructed they should use the SOWP to unite families and then you said that is why people think is for uniting families. I do not understand you here. Nigeria is not even in the top two countries sending students to Canada.

Chinook is being used to process applications. In order for the Chinook to aid in the mass decision making, some flag indicators are assigned to applicants from some countries. One of the flag indicators assigned to Nigeria currently is the early spousal sponsorship. The truth there is that they don't believe all those big bank statements we are presenting to them due to the activities for some Nigerians who were given study permits in the past. Many students were seen collecting food from the food bank. These are the people who told the IRCC that they have sufficient funds for feeding and living expenses with big bank statements. Their belief is that some of you don't have the money you claim that you have, hence the rush to bring your spouse into Canada so that he/she will be working to finance your studies. As it is now, submitting a SOWP while you student is in first semester is a red flag for Chinook to flag

Please what is the source of this your assertion? It was not only Nigerians that were at the food banks.

We gave the application to a licensed canadian agent

Here is the reason below

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by paragraph 200(1)(b) of the IRPR (https://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/ section-200.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors:

• You do not qualify under the IMP as you provided insufficient information to demonstrate that your spouse is a full-time student in a qualifying program at a DLI in Canada. Refused under R205(c)(ii)

Refusal reasons like this are straight forward, the key is to get more documents that ties the student top the school and submit. But before doing that, you need to ascertain the status of your spouse's application. You request for GCMS notes on the application and create that tracker to check it.

Good day, please I have a concern.

I am may 2024 intake (College PGD)
I and my dependents (husband and son) submitted our application Dec 28 last year.

But to my surprise my dependents (husband and son) was refused one month ago, and up till this moment, there's no update on my own application (main applicant),

So I'm kind of worried that why will they respond to my dependents application leaving the main applicant behind. And up till this moment there's no update.

Please does it happen like that sometimes, or what could be the reason for such?

Thank you as I await your responses.

You need to create a profile on tracker to check the status of your application. What was the reason for refusing your spouses' application?

@Bobomaigida I greet you. What if by any chance visa is denied, how can one request the money deposited in a GIC? Thanks.

That one na small issue, just inform the CIBC to refund the money, they will send to the originating account less transfer charges.

Hi,
I just got a mail now to request for PAL from Lakeland College, Alberta.
Kindly advise if I should proceed based on the Following.

2-year Diploma in Early Childhood Education
Note: I have a BSc in Education & have been teaching since I graduated in 2017.

1st year Tuition = $18,000 Paid in full
2 Minor Kids Dependent (3 & 1)

Funds
1) Personal Pounds Account: 36,000 GBP = $62,000 CAD and 4-million-naira Account.
2) Spouse Account: 5,100 GBP = $8,500 CAD and 5-million-naira Account.
3) Spouse Business Account 10,000 GBP = $17,200 CAD

TOTAL CAD: $87,700 CAD which will raise to $100k CAD by end of April.

Note: First Year Tuition has been paid in full (18,000)

We have a business that generate between 100,000 to 150,000 GBP Annually and we also have house and undeveloped lands in PHC that is worth over 250m and cars.

My question is, I want to apply with the kids to be with me in Canada while my spouse (Husband) will be in Nigeria running the family business, but he will apply for a VV to help me travel with the kids and he will stay minimum 2 weeks, as soon as we are settled, he’ll return back to continue work. In Nigeria and visit us 4 times a year.

I want to seek you and others advise what’s our chances?

The main issue will be proving the funds are readily available for your usage, consider doing GIC to take care of your living expenses. Then draft a good SOP to explain the sources of funds and your free access to them.

this is my third application my tuition for one year is 22500 for a year I made tuition deposit for two semester I have 3 semester in a year as I am enrolled in an after degree nursing program how much proof of funds will I look for now and this current exchange rate is really crazy.

1 year tuition = $7,500
Living expenses =$20,635
Travel and others= $3,000
Total = $31,135*1,175=36,583,625

Ideally, this is the POF you are required to have using their updated living expenses for 1 year amount. You can check if you have this or if your sponsor has.

Thanks, yes paid 50% of the tuition

You can send the additional POF, but ensure to show how the money was raised and explain any lump sum deposit into the account.

Hi everyone, Please your opinion is urgently needed, seeing people being refused for POF, could this be as a result of the naira depreciation please ?

Submitted 19th January, for family of 5 with 55m, which is about 85kCAD then but checking now value is slightly less than 50kCAD. Do I need to top it up and send them a new POF please ? Or alternatively, got fund in foreign currency upto 20k CAD balance but not sure it’s upto 4months in the account untouched, could this be added as additional/top up please ?

Or can I print the conversion / exchange rate as at the time I submitted and send to them via web form?

Note: I have a monthly salary in foreign currency which I have sent updated payslips for January and February, 2024 to them via web form, is this enough to show that the depreciation in the fund would not be a problem ?

Your opinion will be highly appreciated.

Please have you paid tuition partly or in full? The POF required for LE for a family of five is CAD$43,492, so your balance should cover for this. You can send the additional docs to them, but it might delay the processing as they will need to confirm the docs.

I did for my two application I used a third party sponsor the first reason for refusal on gcms I won’t have access to the funds and I did not explain my sponsor source of income I did the necessary correction for my second application by explaining and showing their source of income and also my sponsor paid my tuition as well before re applying, then after ward I reapplied I was rejected because they feel the amount my sponsor is giving me is too much and unrealistic and also I sent out the larger part of the money to pay my tuition without adding description and now i used my Dad as my sponsors I explained his source of income and did the necessary things I don’t even feel like ordering for GCMs as I am so tired of them

I understand how you feel, someone close to me was rejected twice and got it at the third try. Refusals can be demoralizing especially when you feel that you submitted a strong application. On the surface, you have strong points that should count positively for you. However, sometimes some applications are processed by strict VOs who will not judge those strong points if they have noticed a loophole. I will suggest that you request for notes, and thereafter reapply after securing PAL.

Hello guy, I finally got my third refusal yesterday 😢after waiting for about 11 weeks, I don’t know what to do any more the reason for refusal is that I don’t have enough ties to home country and my reason for the temporary visa is not consistent and also insufficient funds so I was refused for the third time🥹 I have made tuition deposit of 12k plus before applying for my second application and the money has been with the school ever since then I used the sum of 15.2m as my pof for my third application which covers my tuition bal, my upkeep for one year. I don’t know what to do anymore.

So sorry about the refusal. Did you get GCMS notes for the past refusals ?
From the generic reasons, it seems the sources of funds were not explained well and the SOP was not so strong.

I applied Jan 16 for Sowp. I got refused today based on POF. What are the next steps to take. Previous POF was 10m naira. I still have a running visitors visa for myself and my son and 10m naira POF. What are the next steps to take. Thanks for your support always

So sorry for the refusal, request for your notes to know the actual reasons.
Though, N10mm is small in the light of recent changes to rate and living expenses.

You can send your e-medical sheet to the emails below requesting them to update your medicals and they will act on it; it could also prompt the VO processing your request to do the needful

I believe your approval is coming soon since it’s taken longer than the 1st application and your medical exams has been passed. If it is possible get your current/recent transcript from the school and send it via webform to IRCC and send an email aswell to notify them.

Please which transcript are you asking him to send?

Asking for someone

Can anyone tell me why the application is closed? No email has been sent regarding their decision yet

Is the application being handled by agent? The tracker shows they have processed the application, and since the eligibility has been completed and medicals was not requested, we can infer that the application was refused.

For those that recently got their PPR,

Has anyone gotten quick approval from RROC?

I applied on the 26th January 2024 and learnt the application is being handled at the RROC.

Any encouragement would be greatly appreciated

Most work permit applications take at least a month, what I have realized is that they are working on it, even if you don't see any movement like eligibility review starting. You will most likely get PPR the day eligibility starts. All the best

Yeeeh!
But I learnt they also use what I have (as in properties) to determine my proof of fund or they want to see all in my account? If I want to get proof of fund somewhere, how can we deposit the money into my account, like how many batches and for how many months? because all my money is on my business right now as I don't have that sitted in my account right now

You actually need to show money at hand/bank for POF. Your properties are not easily convertible to cash so you can not say that is your POF. When building your account, you must account for big lodgements into the account by explaining the source of the funds.

PPR alert guys!💃💃💃💃
I have been a silent reader and learnt a lot here, thank you all for that.

Second time applicant.
Date of application: 31/12/2023
Eligibility review, medicals etc were update same day as PPR
PPR: 29/02/2024

First application was refused on 01/12/2023 ( reason: not enough proof that my spouse is in a DLI) then for my 2 kids they stated that they won't return.

I just thank God that it's finally approved cos the wait can be very depressing. I wish everyone the very best and I pray that God will perfect what he started, Amen.

Congratulations, please could you share what you did differently?

My special thanks to the creator of this particular group. I have been following the trend since January when I applied for study visa for my wife and kids, thank God she and the kids got their approver successfully, but they requested a consent letter from me for the kids which I have successfully sent, its been over 5 days now since I send the consent letter, but no response yet. My question is can I send my wife and the kids passport to the embassy without a reply from the embassy or I should still hold on for a reply. Thanks to everyone who have been contributing and also those waiting for ppr the Lord that came in through for my family will do the same for you.

If you have received PPR for all of them, you can send the passports. Typically the processing officers would wait till the deadline they gave you to submit the additional docs, which is 7days.

Good morning everyone, please I urgently need advice on an issue.....I will be traveling with my son this coming weekend and we were told to write a letter of consent that the father is aware I'm bringing in son.....I'm on work permit while my son is on visit visa
Please how do we address the letter or what would be the content.....can anyone with sample to share with me?
Thank you in advance

The letter should be two written by your spouse, one addressed to IRCC and the other to NIgerian Immigration. It should basically state that he is authorizing you to travel with your child.

My people, I am still expecting responses on this. Thank you

The main consideration will be explaining that the funds are yours and that you have unfettered access to them. It does not matter if company is a loan company or not, if you can prove when you did the investment and now the investment is coming back to you then you are good to go.
