Ewa Agoyin simply means plain boiled beans eaten with a pepper sauce.

How to make Ewa Agoyin [Video]

This is the perfect way for those who do not like beans to enjoy it. I can tell you that yours truly does not like beans yet, I can never get enough of Ewa Agoyin. I don't know what it is about it that makes it taste so good. Maybe it is the caramelized onions. All I know is that I enjoy eating it.

Ingredients

2 cigar cups (approx. 500g) brown/black eyed beans
5 cooking spoons red palm oil
5 big plum tomatoes
1 handful crayfish
1 big onion
Pepper & Salt (to taste)
2 stock cubes
Before you cook Ewa Agoyin

Soak the beans in cold water for 5 hours. Boil the beans for 5 minutes and discard the water. Rinse the beans in cold water and set aside. This soaking and pre-cooking process will help reduce the gas inducing elements. For more on that visit: How to Reduce Beans Bloating.

Chop the onions, grind the crayfish and pound the pepper.

Blend the tomatoes and boil the tomato puree till all the water has dried from it.

Pre-cook the diced onions without any added water. The aim is to get it to caramelize a bit so that it will take less time to fully caramelize during frying.

Cooking Directions

Cook the beans till done. For Ewa Agoyin, the beans needs to be very soft.

Note: If you have a pressure cooker, beans is one of the staple foods you will want to use it for. It considerably reduces the cooking time.

When the beans is done, add salt, leave to dry up all the water and set aside.

To cook the Agoyin, pour the palm oil into a separate dry pot. Allow to heat up till the oil starts smoking and the red colour changes to clear. It is better to do this at medium heat so that the oil does not get too hot too quickly. Remember to turn off your smoke alarm before doing this.
To keep the smoke to a minimum and still have the traditional taste of Ewa Agoyin, I use vegetable oil and when it is very hot, I add a small amount of palm oil. Watch the video below to see how I do that.

Now add the precooked onions and stir continuously till the onions is fully caramelized. It should be very dark in colour.

Add the parboiled tomato puree and stir continuously till you cannot tell the difference between the tomatoes and onions.

Add the pepper, crayfish, stock cubes and salt to taste. You can also add a little water at this point if your want.

Stir very well and bring to the boil. The Ewa Agoyin is ready!



Serve by dishing the beans into a plate and scoop some Agoyin stew on it. Ewa Agoyin can be eaten on its own, with soft and stretchy bread (known as Ewa ati Bread) or with Fried Plantains.

In Nigeria, one very staple food is garri. Made from cassava tubers, it has been nicknamed ‘garry’, ‘African cornflakes’, ‘garium sulphate’, ‘garrison’ and so many other funny names. It is loved by all and sundry because it is cheap, affordable and consumed by the rich and poor alike.

It may be consumed with milk, sugar, suya, groundnut, kulikuli, coconut, fried meat, fish: raw, cooked, fried and the list is endless. Some take it as a form of snack, others have it as real food. It may also be transformed and consumed as ‘Eba’, that is when it is prepared with hot water and eaten with soup. Garri has numerous benefits as it increases vitality in consumers. Taking too much garri can have some serious health implications, we would discuss a few of them below:



Eye Defects: Garri is made from cassava which contains hydrocyanic acid. Cyanide in garri, in large quantity, can lead to serious eye defects. However, proper and thorough processing of the garri should reduce the concentration of the acid to a considerate level.
Cyanide is also an organic acid in nature and where in excess, it can lead to intestinal issues, and can worsen the case of an ulcer patient.


Cassava which is the root from which garri is produced is rich in carbohydrate. A cup of garri contains about 360 calories, out of which 99% is carbohydrate. Hence, Excess consumption can lead to storing of excess carbs in the body and this can lead to unnecessary weight gain.
With these stated side effects, you may be wondering what to do. I know you love garri, I really do too. However there is need to take caution so as to prevent any negative health implications. As stated above, proper processing of the garri can dramatically reduce the level of cyanide. Hence, it is advisable that you purchase your garri from trusted sources and just as the popular saying goes, “moderation is key”. Moderate your overall consumption of garri.

Doctors in India pulled a live cockroach from the skull of a 42yr old domestic helper named Selvi after she woke up in the middle of the night with a “crawling sensation” in her right nostril which became a “burning” feeling in her head.



Selvi, from Injambakkam, India, who did not want to give her full name, said:
“My immediate reaction after feeling that crawling sensation in the right nostril was to brush it off in half sleep. But before I could do anything, it went inside. I could not explain the feeling but I was sure it was some insect.
“There was a tingling and crawling sensation. Whenever it moved, it gave me a burning sensation in my eyes. I spent the entire night in discomfort, sitting up and waiting for dawn to go to Stanley hospital after getting the reference of a doctor from my employer.”
The next morning, Selvi and her son headed to the nearest clinic where medics could find nothing wrong.

The next day she went to state-run Stanley Medical College Hospital, in Chennai, where doctors found the live roach. Baffled medics used a nasal endoscopy to find the insect “sitting in the skull base between her eyes”.

They were forced to used clamps and a sucker to get it out, but miraculously the bug was still alive.
Doctors said if Selvi had ignored the scratchy sensation, the insect would have died, causing an infection close to her brain. Dr M N Shankar, head of the ENT department at the hospital, said:
“This is the first such case I have seen in my three decades of practice. It was sitting in the skull base, between the two eyes, close to the brain.
“If left inside, it would have died before long and the patient would have developed infection which would have spread to the brain.
“It was difficult to remove it because of the place it was sitting in. I had to first drag it to a place from where I could pull it out. It was finally removed after 45 minutes.”

7 Preschool promotes language and cognitive skills

Preschool-age children’s language skills are nurtured in a “language-rich” environment. Between the ages of 3 and 5, a child’s vocabulary grows from 900 to 2,500 words, and her sentences become longer and more complex. In a conversational manner, and without dominating the discussion, teachers help children stretch their language skills by asking thought-provoking questions and introducing new vocabulary during science, art, snack time, and other activities. Children have many opportunities to sing, talk about favorite read-aloud books, and act out stories.

A young child’s cognitive skills are strengthened by engaging in a wide range of hands-on activities that challenge her to observe closely, ask questions, test her ideas or solve a problem. However, teachers understand that preschool children are not logical in the adult sense of the word; their explanations of what makes a plant grow or why people get old, may not involve cause and effect. For example, “people get old because they have birthdays.” They may rely on their senses and “magical thinking” rather than on reason to explain why wood floats in water and rocks sink – “The rock likes to be on the bottom because it’s cooler.”
8 Preschool teachers nurture a child’s curiosity

Teachers observe, ask questions and listen to children’s ideas during these activities — “correct” answers are not the goal. To nurture their curiosity and motivation to learn, teachers use children’s interests and ideas to create activities. And even a simple, chance event – such as a child’s discovery of a snail in the outdoor play area — can be turned into an exciting opportunity to learn.

Preschool-age children have active imaginations and learn through make-believe play. Teachers know that the line between reality and fantasy is often not clear to a young child. Sometimes this results in fears of monsters under the bed. But imagination also fuels learning. For example, when a group of children creates a make-believe pet store, they will practice many social and cognitive skills as they assign roles to each child, figure out categories of pet supplies and how to organize them, make signs to label products; help their “customers” select the right shampoo or cat toy; and take “money” for merchandize.

The imaginary play area in a high-quality preschool is well-stocked with costumes, “props,” and child-size household items such as stoves, sinks and cupboards. It’s often in this activity area that preschool-age children progress steadily from solitary play, to one-on-one play, to complicated group play.

9 Preschool activities boost pre-math and literacy skills

Young children show growing interest in pre-math and pre-literacy skills. They are curious and observant, and they want to be competent in the skills that their families and society value — such as reading the instructions for assembling a toy, or selecting the correct bills or coins to pay for a purchase. To prepare children for the academic demands of kindergarten, teachers offer a wide variety of games and activities that help children acquire the pre- math and literacy skills.

Singing an alphabet song while following along in a picture book builds a child’s awareness of the connections between alphabet letters and word sounds. Comedian AY's daughter, Michelle is 9-years-old today, and the proud dad took to his Instagram to recount how he had little or nothing when his wife was pregnant with her.He wrote;

"I had to catch a flight yesterday to make sure i am home for your special day my darling. Heaven knows that i am one of those parents that are busy in their everyday lives and forget to share with those they love how much they mean to them.

But today is a wonderful day to come home and celebrate what you mean to daddy. This is very important for me as i watched you come out of an operation alive only a few weeks ago. Besides buying you gifts or throwing a big birthday party for you, this is also a day of Thanksgiving. This a day to remind you how much you are loved by daddy.

A young boy who is also an up and coming basketball player, has fascinated many people with his incredibly noteworthy height.



Robert Bobroczky is a 7-foot-7, 16-year-old freshman at SPIRE Institute, a state-of-the-art international academy in Geneva, Ohio, who is set to become the tallest player to ever play in the NBA and of the tallest in the history of the sport.
Bobroczky, a native of Romania, has been described as “so tall he doesn’t look real”.
At age 12, he was already 7 feet tall, and although his growth rate has slowed down over the last four years, he is still on track to become the eighteenth person in medical history to reach or surpass eight feet in height. Unfortunately, his weight has been having trouble keeping up with his growth, and at 7-foot-7, he weighs only 190 pounds. Robert is honing is skills on the basketball court, but if he is to reach the NBA, the first priority is bulking up.
The world first heard about Robert Bobroczky a couple of years ago, when a video of him towering over other teenagers on the basketball court went viral on Facebook, with over 3 million views. He was 7-foot-3 at the time, basically a giant for his age. That’s when Bobby Bossman, Executive Director of SPIRE Institute became interested in the young man.
“Oddly enough, it all started on Facebook,” he told Maxpreps. “We reached out to him a year ago and got to know him and his family. They trusted us and came over to America to visit and here we are. He’s been at our school for three months now and lives on campus.”
Robert’s father, Zsiga, was also a professional basketball player who played on Romania’s national team, alongside 7-foot-7 Gheorghe Muresan, one of the two tallest players to have ever played in the NBA. His father is “just” 7-foot-1 tall, though. He and his wife agreed to move to America to help Robert reach his full potential as a basketball player.

It was like a scene from a horror movie when a popular female student of a university turned into a snake after spending some fun night with her sugar daddy in a hotel.



A popular ‘happening babe’ from the University of Nairobi in Kenya, allegedly turned into a big snake few minutes after a man said to be her sugar daddy, dropped her at her hostel residence.
An eyewitness who is one of the victim’s close friends narrated the chilling incident and said;
“Everything happened so quickly, she had just alighted from the vehicle and I saw her walk into her room. I was on my way to her room when I heard her screaming. I quickly pushed the door open an behold I saw her turning into a snake, on her bed, right before my very own eyes.




The authorities of the University of Nairobi who reacted to the news, gave a strict warning to the female students of the Institution to avoid going out with strangers in order to avert a recurrence of a similar case.
Meanwhile security operatives are currently searching for the suspected man, while the eye witness has been remanded in custody for further interrogation.

A jealous lover has left her man in serious pains after she lured him to her house for s*x and cut off his manhood.



A jilted woman cut off her lover’s p*nis with a gardening tool before running down the street with it after he told her he was marrying someone else, reports Dailymail.
It was gathered that the woman was pained after finding out he was planning to wed another woman. So she hatched a plan to stop him sleeping with the other woman by luring him to her home for cex, but after blindfolding the 23-year-old, she grabbed a sickle and slashed off his privates.
However, the victim who was left in pain failed to tell his parents the truth as he told them he cut off his own manhood in order to cover for the girl. The incident happened at his girlfriend’s home nearby in Naugawan Darshan Singh, India.
A police officer said: ‘He told doctors he cut his privates on his own.’ The unnamed couple had been going out together for around four years.
Kotwali police chief Anil Upadhya said: ‘A case of attempted murder is being registered against a 20-year-old girl who is a neighbour of the victim.

A team of six doctors, headed by Dr Giri, operated on the boy in an hour long surgery on Monday.
The teenager, who will be discharged later this week, has spoken of his delight after the surgery.
He said: “I feel liberated now as I am not a Monkey God anymore. Now, there won’t be any queue of superstitious people in front of my house.

“I hated being called or likened with the Gods anyway.”
According to the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, there have been six such cases in the country.

In early February, delivery startup Postmates will begin testing ground robots in D.C., and DoorDash will follow suit in Redwood City.
Customers placing orders during daylight may receive an order from the robots, which autonomously navigate sidewalks. The robots hold deliveries in their hulls, which flip open with the push of a button. For now, Starship Technologies, which makes the robots, will have an employee walking behind the robot to keep it out of trouble and answer any questions from curious pedestrians.
Starship Technologies, which is led by Skype's cofounders, has covered 16,000 miles in the last year, including tests in Britain, Germany, Switzerland and Estonia. The DoorDash and Postmates programs are its first partnerships in the United States.

Cofounder Stanley Tang said DoorDash will use the robots for deliveries under a mile. He said his human deliverymen are better suited for long-range deliveries and large orders. The Starship robot travels about the speed of a pedestrian, making them ill-suited for extended trips.

"If you happen to live within 500 feet of a restaurant and you order a $5 beverage, I think the likelihood of you getting assigned a robot will go up," he told CNN. There's no way to guarantee one will receive a robot delivery.
Tang said he wasn't sure if the robot deliveries will end up being cheaper or more expensive than traditional methods. Neither company will charge extra for a robot delivery.
Postmates, which makes 1.5 million deliveries a month, said it will expand the use of robots if the results are good.

Sperm are single-purposed: They're optimized to get to an egg and inseminate it. But that doesn't mean there isn't more to this cell than meets the ovum. Sperm, along with its travelling companion, semen, are surprisingly versatile and adaptable substances. Here are eight unconventional things you can do with human sperm.

1. Skin softener

Sperm contains an anti-oxidant called spermine that is thought to diminish wrinkles, smooth the skin, and help with acne. Looking to take advantage of these much sought after attributes, a Norwegian company called Bioforskning (you can't make this stuff up) has synthesized the compound and is selling it as a facial cream. These, uh, spermine facials cost $250 and can be ordered through Townhouse Spa, or for $125 Graceful Services.

2. Cooking

Those looking to take their culinary skills to the next level should check out a book by Fotie Photenhauer called Natural Harvest, a collection of semen-based recipes. The book description:

3. Painting


Artist Martin Von Ostrowski is known for using bodily fluids as his paint mediums (including his infamous portrait of Hitler made from his own excrement). Back in 2008, Von Ostrowski put out an exhibition at the Gay Museum in Berlin in which he featured works painted with his own semen. A single painting requires about 40 ejaculations, which, given the size of the exhibition, suggests that he needed to ejaculate at least 1,000 times. Impressive! Von Ostrowski is able to keep these large quantities of sperm fresh by freezing it.

4. Invisible ink


Back during World War I, the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) discovered that semen could act as an effective invisible ink. In June 1915, Walter Kirke, deputy head of military intelligence in France, wrote in his diary that chief Mansfield Cumming (yes), was "making enquiries for invisible inks at the London University." Rumor at the time had it that semen worked particularly well, and follow-up studies showed that it did not react to the usual methods of detection (including iodine vapor). It was also readily available for any intrepid secret service agent willing to make the sacrifice. The practice went into use, but it was noted that on at least one occasion that an agent had to be reminded to use only fresh supplies of the "ink" when people started noticing an unusual smell.

5. An anti-Depressant for women

Another potential application for semen is its use as an anti-depressant. This idea is quite controversial — but there is a modicum of scientific evidence to support it. A study done back in 2002 showed that women who were directly exposed to semen were less depressed. The researchers concluded that this was on account of mood-altering hormones in the semen being absorbed through the vagina — and that they had ruled out other explanations (New Scientist didn't entirely agree — proposing a number of their own). That said, as Jesse Bering has pointed out, "there's good in this goo":


In fact, semen has a very complicated chemical profile, containing over 50 different compounds (including hormones, neurotransmitters, endorphins and immunosupressants) each with a special function and occurring in different concentrations within the seminal plasma. Perhaps the most striking of these compounds is the bundle s the bundle of mood-enhancing chemicals in semen...Such anxiolytic chemicals include, but are by no means limited to, cortisol (known to increase affection), estrone (which elevates mood), prolactin (a natural antidepressant), oxytocin (also elevates mood), thyrotropin-releasing hormone (another antidepressant), melatonin (a sleep-inducing agent) and even serotonin (perhaps the most well-known antidepressant neurotransmitter).
6. Ovulation control

A recent study at the University of Saskatchewan has discovered that a protein in semen acts on the female brain to prompt ovulation — and that it's the same molecule that regulates the growth, maintenance, and survival of nerve cells. As a result, it's very possible that semen acts as a hormonal signal, working through the hypothalamus of the female brain and the pituitary gland. This in turn triggers the release of other hormones that signal the ovaries to release an egg.

7. Help with morning sickness


Okay, this is probably the last thing a woman is thinking about when she's suffering through morning sickness, but psychologist Gordon Gallup at SUNY-Albany, a male member of the human species who specializes in human reproductive competition and behavior, is suggesting that MouthAction could serve as a kind of cure. Gordon theorizes that expectant women become ill and vomit because their bodies are rejecting the sperm's genetic material as something foreign and unfamiliar. His idea, which was presented at 2012 Northeastern Evolutionary Psychology Society, suggests that women can build up their immunity by ingesting the sperm of the baby's father. Gallup's conclusion is a bit hard to swallow, but there's also a scientific study supporting the idea that MouthAction can reduce the incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women.

8. Archival storage of information


In what gives new meaning to the term "hard drive", human sperm — a transmitter of DNA — could be used to store information — a lot of information. We recently reported on a breakthrough by Sriram Kosui and his team at Harvard and Johns Hopkins in which he devised a technique for archiving information in DNA. The process, which takes advantage of DNA's data sequencing attributes, could be used to store as much as one petabyte of data (one petabyte = 1,024 terabytes) in a volume of 1.5 mg of DNA. Because genetic information can be packaged in three dimensions, that equates to a storage volume of about one cubic millimeter — so you'll finally have a secure and ironic place to store your massive digital porn collection.

Long after the break-up known as the “Faze vs Tuface” beef, the band came back together in 2007 for the purpose of recording a third and final album entitled Plan B (2007).

Solo career
After the disbandment of Plantashun Boyz in 2004, all band members sought separate musical careers. 2face Idibia released his debut solo album Face 2 Face(2004), which established him as a viable solo artist.
Following the release of his debut album, he released his second album Grass 2 Grace in 2006, which contained hits “One Love”, “True Love, “4 Instance”. He is the founder of Hypertek Entertainment.

In 2006, his song “African Queen” was used in the soundtrack for the film Phat Girlz, which was released internationally.
He released a promotion album in 2008 called The Unstoppable releasing the single “Enter the Place”. Problems with album distribution in 2007 caused as shift of the release date of the album from 2008 to early 2009. In 2010, 2face released an “international edition” of the same under the title The Unstoppable International Edition making him the first Nigerian artist to have an appropriately priced international album. 2face released two more singles from the international version of his Unstoppable album. The international edition of the album won two awards at the 2010 SoundCity Music Video Awards. He also won the Channel O Music Video Awards Best African Western award and the MTV Africa Music Awards for Best Male and Artist of the year.

Upon leaving the music label Kennis Music, he set up his own record label known as Hypertek Entertainment. He is part of the Sony All African One8 Project alongside seven other musicians across Africa recording a single with R. Kelly and Prince Lee titled “Hands Across the World”. He is the first non-Liberian to become an honorary member of the Liberian music society in recognition for his outstanding contribution to the growth of music in Africa. He has been named Red cross ambassador society of Nigeria. 2face has several collaborations all over the globe, giving his collaborators the opportunity to win an awards for each duet such as street credibility by 9ice, possibility by p-square and lots more. He is adored by his colleagues and every entertainer in Nigeria music industry as a role model. 2face and heavy weight American Rapper Jay Z met in NYC 2014.

2face Idibia has also been an ambassador for quite a number of brands including Guinness, Nigerian Breweries etc. He is also the brand ambassador for National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

The FORTYfied All-Star Tribute Concert, stylized as #FORTYfied, was an all-star tribute concert organized by 2face Idibia to celebrate his 40th birthday and influence in the music of Nigeria. Hosted by Basketmouth, the STAR Lager Beer-sponsored concert was held on 20 September 2015 at the Eko Hotel and Suites Convention Centre. The concert was attended by dignitaries and featured performances from notable musicians including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Timaya, D’banj, Sound Sultan, Patoranking, Vector tha Viper, Wande Coal and Seyi Shay.
Personal life and marriage

2Face has experienced near-death events, including gunshots from an armed robbery.
On 2 May 2012, 2Face Idibia and Annie Macaulay married in Lagos, Nigeria in a private ceremony. 2face announced his marriage via his Twitter page. Annie Macaulay and 2Face had their traditional wedding on 8 March 2013 in Eket, Akwa-Ibom State Nigeria. The couple also had a white wedding in Dubai, on Saturday 23 March 2013. with Nigerian and Ghanaian celebrities all present to see the long term couple tie the knot.
His wife, Annie Idibia, August 17, 2015, announced that she has opened a beauty salon in Atlanta called BeOlive Hair Studio. 2face has 7 children from 4 different women.

Philanthropy
2Face has established an NGO called 2Face Idibia Reach-Out Foundation. whose motto is “service to humanity”.
In 2009, 2Face was appointed as ambassador by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control. He released a song “Man Unkind” to raise awareness on the menace of fake and sub-standard food and drug products in Nigeria. In 2009, he was presented with the prestigious International Youth Ambassador for Peace Summit and the Nigeria Youth Merit Award by the National Youth Council of Nigeria in recognition of his contributions to youth development in Nigeria. Tu Face is presently one of the Judges in The Voice Nigeria, along side other artists like Timi Dakolo, Patoraking and Waje
