Learnt New Jersey could be tough for those whose i94 validity is less than 60 days. The annoying thing is that the website just states that the i94 should be valid, it didnt say anything about 60 days.

But I also learnt that some MVCs are more knowledgeable and friendly than others. I advice you try some other MVCs and see their response. Most especially these two addresses:

I have a little challenge with getting a drivers Licence.

I first went for the license when I recently arrived U.S two months ago but couldn’t get it because I didn’t have a social security to make up 6 points.

The social security card finally came just last week and I went back for the license only to be told that my I-94 will expire in 7 days, and they require a 60days window to issue a New license.

They asked me to get Immigration to extend/update my immigration status. I need to know if anyone experienced such and how I’d go about it.

What it means is that they are done with the verification. So they should have an answer for you by now. I'll recommend you print this out and show them when you go visiting so they don't tell you to come back again.

If I may ask, is there any discrepancies in your i94 printout compared to your international passport? Information such as your full names, date of birth should match else there could be delays.

Concerning your AOS application. I recommend you call because if you don't, you might miss the biometrics appointment. Biometrics appointment is usually done a month after the first receipt notice (NOA1). When you call you will be speaking with a Tier 1 officer, please insist to speak to a Tier 2 officer as I heard the Tier 1 guys have little or no information.

Hello guys, Is there anyone at the Stage of Adjusting Status (I-485)/Employment Authorization(I-765) in the U.S.

I arrived the U.S 8 weeks ago on a K-1 Visa, applied for Social security a week after. It’s been 7 weeks and I’m yet to get an SSN, even after several visits to the Social Security Office.

Secondly I got married to my fiancée and applied for AOS and EAD.. I only got a text message that specified that I should be getting a receipt notice via mail.. It’s been 3 weeks and nothing. Everything thing seems to be on the standby.

Anyone with similar delays... Any suggestions ?

djfrancis has said it all. However, you can get your social security number (SSN) before you get married. Just go to the nearest Social Administration office 2 weeks after arrival to the States with your International passport, birth certificate, i94. Also you can get your drivers license while waiting to get married.

The AOS, EAD and AP documentations can only be done after getting married.

Please post your experience at the POE so some of us can learn.

It was a long queue at the POE (Entered through EWR airport), first you scan your documents, then you get to the kiosk (for K1- Visa you’d be directed to another room where I waited for like 1 minute. An officer called me up and asked when I’m getting married, which I told him it’s next month but no specific date yet. He stamped my passport and then I proceeded to get my luggage, boarded a taxi and off I go(10 mins drive to Union NJ) It was an easy process.

I had no issue whatsoever at the Lagos Airport. I flew using Fly Emirates with a one way ticket. The only documentation checked at the Lagos Airport were my flight ticket and my passport with the K1 Visa.

However you'll need to keep the parcel given to you by the embassy in your backpack at all times as it would be needed when you get to the States.

Its normal to see Administrative Processing. Every application always go onto Admin Processing before it gets Issued. As long as you weren't told to submit any additional documents, you are fine. Mine also read Admin Processing until the 5th business day before it changed to Issued. I won't be surprised if the Administrative Processing changes to Issued for you either today or tomorrow.

@nayee and @bojar, did the consular officer tell you when it'll be ready? Mine told me 5 business days and it was issued on exactly the 5th business (exactly one week). I also overhead them tell some applicants 10 business days which is 2 weeks.


Don't worry, you guys will get it. However I recommend you contact them via email if you get no response after 2 weeks.
