God bless you too.
My pastor whom I respect so much has also bought into that OIC propaganda. Sunday was scheduled as a prayer for Nigeria service in order to prevent "non-christians" from attaining government seat. I was too mad I couldnt even stand up to pray, had to walk out at a point.
When I heard an elder whom I thought was cerebral and intelligent say he will still vote GEJ no matter how disappointed he was, the anger and sadness that washed over me is a feeling I dont want to experience again.
If Christianity means supporting mediocrity, then to hell with it.
u shouldnt av walked out of d prayer, afterall 90 percent of their prayers havent been answered. They ve been praying for a better naija since 60s but nothing has happened. They ve been praying for boko harams defeat for about 5yrs now but nothing has happened. this their prayer point wont b different. NOTHING will happen. naijas destiny is in our hands not d hands of any so called man of God or bishop. history will b made this february by the grace of almighty God we serve. leave dem pastors n dem mumu followers. feBUHARI.

My first n only fone robbery isn't one i am particularly proud 2 share,so,I wnt b naming d shameful location. It was around this period last year, smwher in ikeja during one of d rowdiest free events in lag wit d largest congregation of touts from all lagos provinces. I am too smart 4 pick pockets,so they weren't a problem there. We(4 guys)entered into d venue witout issues n we just knew we dint belong to d classless gathering, so we decided to leave for anoda event just few mins past midnite. The problem started at d exit,we ad 2 line up to walk out of d events street sandwiched btw mighty merciless old looking touts. I was d 2nd on our 4 man queue. I kept my mony in my briefs n held my fone tight in my pocket, smiling n mischievously thinking, u wld av to cut my wrist to get my fone. Suddenly one tout just blocked our little passage. He looked at d first guy n said, oya go, then my turn, I told him we were 2geda. He just said "fa seyin"(pull him back),like magic, my legs were dangling in d air with 2 hands liftin me by my waist n 4 hands dippin vigorously into my pockets wit anoda pulling my hand away frm my fone. Then dey stopped abruptly after I heard " oti wo apo"(it hs entered d sac). They stood ther giving me d "do ur worst look",yl pips around kept giving me dat silly pity head movement wc destabilized me more than d stolen fone. Usually tot I ws over-weighed but dat nite told me I ws light feather. I composed mysf checking my wrist wc ws still very intact witout d fone,my guys that mysteriously disappeared thruout d ordeal then started re-appearing. Cld av done same o, na everyman 4 himself. What a finacial genius. But Oga big man you maths does not add up, I don't see how 3000 catfishes will give you an equivalence of over 5tonnes of dry mass smoked catfish. NYSC / Re: NYSC MDGs: For Real Or A Game Of Fraud? by bomee(m): 9:47am On Apr 15, 2013
rhymz: The fact is not everyone in the programme will succeed and even amongst those that will succeed they will definitely encounter problems that will not be helped by the conditions that they were forced to agree to. Besides, it shows how small-minded and excited you are, comparing a social programme organized by government and the MDGs designed to empower people to banks that exist solely to make profit while helping you. Banks are not there to give you interest free loans or empower you without sharing in your profits, they exist for business not social welfare or empowerment, if you can not tell the differences, I can understand your intellectual lack. By the way, I never said my Uncle failed in his agro-business, the man's business is too big to fail just at the death of 2000 fishes, that was just one of the many occurences that sometimes can not be controlled by human efforts no matter how meticulous and brilliant you are. It is not about positive thinking, it is about have a well rounded plan so you dont have to suffer loses you can't overcome in the process. What do tou know any way, you are just an excited kid just starting out freshly with prospects though, but you will learn in the process and come to understand what my arguments realy are, I just hope you donllt learn it the hard way.
Oga, I've bin in biz 4 about 2years now. I started with live catfish n I ve raised over 30000 fishes till date, I'm also fully into d smoked catfish thing n I've smoked over 5 tonnes till date. I just started my poultry n I av about 200 birds. I also av 3 staffs, sooo mayb u will av a rethink of d word. "Kid" n "excited". I'm sure u are just a salary earner so u just wnt understand even if it was stashed into ur brain. All thanks to d God n d scheme it made me start small n I'm still growing.
NYSC / Re: NYSC MDGs: For Real Or A Game Of Fraud? by bomee(m): 9:05am On Apr 15, 2013
rhymz: You are not getting the point here young man, that is the problem with an average Nigerian youngstar, many lack the ability to be holistic and thorough in their analysis of processes. I don't get excited by the mere thoughts of prospects and positive thoughts alone, there is a thing in business called contingencies i.e in simple terms, plan B, a method of controlling a process or at least stopping a situation from getting worse.
I operate a Poultry farm myself and trust me, the experiences you get from practice is nothing similar to what your instructor teaches you. For instance, for poultry experiences, there are diseases occassioned by wheather change that can kill all your birds in a matter of days, what happens then? Do you go to them and explain to them that all your birds just died like that? Who will believe you? Is it that idiot they call Prince Momoh that is so full of himself that he feels he has seen it all?
Let me give you another instance, my Uncle bought 2000 fingerlings and put in his pond, after like 2wks, palm fruits from a palm tree close to the fish ponds fell into the pond and guess what? They all died? Till as I write, my Uncle and the owner of the palm tree are at it threatening fire and brimstone. Imagine such eventualities happening to a person that has only borrowed a loan to do all these things only to face these kind of stuff, you run into troubles. This goes beyond whether you signed knowing fully well the consequencies, if actually it is a government programme to help empower this people, then it should not be set up in a way that benefactors are susceptible to falling into debts and troubles just in a bid to avail themselves the opportunities. You are just starting out, don't start acting like you have got it all figured out wait until you are able to start making profits and pay off the debt. Close to 500 people attend this programme, can they boast and say in every of the batches close to 90% of these people succed? And you know what happens when you donllt succeed? You become a helpless debtor. That is where contingencie would have helped to address. You guys need to stop getting unecccessarily excited, I have been in this business long enough to know that it is not black and white as sold to you learners.
When they want to get high on positivism the play videos of benefactors that have gotten the loan and kick start the business, they dont tell you if the person has been able to make profits, pay off the loan and still remain in business, do they?
Starting off does not mean you have succeeded my dear, anyone can start those agro businesses longevity is the true test of success. Besides, it is most likely that very few were even able to kick start the business what about the majority that couldn't? They unwittingly fall into a vicious cycle of debt. Then the next thing, their guarantors become agents of harrassment and government intimidation. Abeg relax jor, they need to be sincere with what they hope to achieve with the scheme, with the way it is presently constituted, they are turning more youngstars to debtors than they are helping to become self reliant. If you dou t me, tell them to publish their success and failure rates, you will be shocked to your marrow how these guys are getting people into debts in the guise of rendering help.
Its unfortunate u are not being objective in ur analysis. Coming into conclusion based on ur biased perception of d scheme is unfortunate. The scheme isn't meant to spoonfeed participants, its meant to jumpstart a small scale biz. If u can't manage small loan how will u manage more? Can u get this money from the bank without collateral? Even with d NYSC cert, are u of getting a decent job? Y are u so bothered about d biz failing(negative thinking). If u were given loan 4 biz frm d bank, wld d bank b responsible for what befalls ur biz? Stop being myopic, that ur uncle dint succeed does not mean others won't.
NYSC / Re: NYSC MDGs: For Real Or A Game Of Fraud? by bomee(m): 8:00pm On Apr 14, 2013
rhymz: of course it is a very laudable scheme if well intended and planned well with all sincerity of purpose. However, some criminal officials have obviously hijacked the process, it is like they want you to be frustrated to the point you start worrying about your NYSc discharge certificate and not the loan that obviously has been diverted.
Another aspect that must not be overlooked is have contingent plan for eventualities. It is very unrealistic for the organizers to assume that everyone is going to succeed in realizing the aims of the project if they do everything right. You can do everything right and still fail, that is a fact, why should participants be 100 liable if for instance if they fail due to factors they can not control or stop? It is absurd and wicked abeg.
Well I agree with u on officials hijacking the process but about eventualities I do not agree. Corp meembers that participated in d scheme willingly submitted their application, this indicates that they know what they were entering into. A top NYSC official once visited my farm(officially) to know how far with my project, he collected detailed info on all activities carried out wc was well documented. That's called follow up. At least in not all graduates that get decent jobs or r self employed. I av no intention of convincing u d scheme is perfect but its commendable. U aint a benefactor so u might not fully understand but I can tell u that d scheme sure made some of us employers of labour. 50 graduates might succeed from d selected 500 but it sure got other pips employed. Some participant wld not still succeed if they were given a loan of 1 million.
NYSC / Re: NYSC MDGs: For Real Or A Game Of Fraud? by bomee(m): 7:18pm On Apr 14, 2013
I benefited from the scheme as a corp member in 2011. I was given a loan of 250k about a month to d end of my service year. I think it a laudable scheme, its unfortunate ur set hasn't been paid. The scheme would benefit only those who are very willing to work for themselves although the loan is not too encouraging but it can jump start a small scale agric biz provided u r dedicated n willing to add substantial amount of ur personal money to it. I have no regret so far. About holding back of d certificate, its to encourage benefactor to concentrate on d project n to put d money into good use. Many benefactors attend d program just for the money they r paid for attending then they quickly return the loan to retrieve their cert. This "nigerian sense" defeats d purpose of d scheme. I think its a laudable scheme as getting a good job seem to be difficult, it encourages young graduates to work for themselves n b employers. Its a known fact that NYSC cert wld b withheld till d loan is paid so uninterested corp member should have opted out before the training commenced. In ur case, I wld suggest u write to the appropriate authority for release of ur cert or d loan.

jagboade: can u pls talk about d smoking process
Its a quite dirty process. The first step should b killing/weakening d fishes using salt after which u slit vertically d ventral part of d fish to remove guts and internal content(that's the hard part) after which d fishes are rinsed abt seven times to get rid of d fish sliminess so as to allow the tail to fit into d fish's mouth without using sticks or picks. Regulating d oven heat is also a difficult task but with experience n a good smoking kiln, you will definately produce a standard smoked catfish that will not only stand the test of time but would also be an export material.
Agriculture / Re: Investment In Catfish Farming (things you need to know) by bomee(m): 11:08pm On Mar 23, 2013
miqos02: @aquatic, i met a market woman last week who has on display some nicely packaged smoked catfisf on display,i asked her where she got them from she said they were imported from thailand, she said they can stay in that same state for a year, when i asked her why she didnt buy from nigeria she said the smoked fishes dont last long,i think fish farmers should begin to discuss how to preserve the fishes and probably export them
I beg to disagree that our smoked fish don't last long. I've been into fish smoking using a modern smoking kiln for over a year now, my smoked fish last for over 3 months if its kept away from water and moist. To produce a durable and hygienic smoked catfish, a farmer must get proper training and he should make use of a modern well constructed smoking kiln that regulates heat evenly,he should also be patient because drying catfish for durability is a gradual process that could last 2 to 3 days depending on the fish size. Modern farmers have moved pass the smoking skills of abokis and market women.
