Politics / Why Tinubu Is Best For Nigeria by bonapri: 9:07am On Dec 02, 2021
He is an exceptional manager of resources and a seasoned administrator, writes Tosin Adeyanju

“We have discovered a man who is ready to sacrifice all he has for his fatherland…the least sacrifice we can make is to let the whole country see the Leadership we have seen, feel the compassion we have felt; and move the maker of modern Lagos (Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu) to the moulder of a greater Nigeria”- Hon James Faleke

Setting was at the TSG Secretariat on highbrow Kainji Crescent, Maitama. The atmosphere was electrifying with enthusiastic APC Chieftains and members, TSG faithful in celebration mood. All gladly donning an all-white attire with the famous “Asiwaju Logo” inscribed on them.
The highpoint of the day was when speaker upon speaker mounted the podium to list reasons why Tinubu remains the best Presidential Candidate for APC at the moment.

For Senate Deputy Whip, Senator Sabi Abdullahi from Niger Sate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the Jagaban Borgu remains the best option for the rich and the poor in Nigeria.

“The man who is up and the man who is down are all affected by what is happening in the country. Jagaban will make a difference.”

In his words, Member, House of Representatives from Borno State, Hon Mohammed Zana describes Jagaban as a nation builder whose contributions to nation building have benefited most Nigerians.

“Jagaban is a nation builder. So, we are going to win this election by God’s grace in 2023”, he declared. For the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Hamisu Chidari who also graced the occasion, Kano State which has the highest number of voters and delegates in the country would repay Tinubu act of helping President Muhammadu Buhari to become President in 2015.

According to him, “My Purpose is to kick-start the journey that will take us to the villa by God’s grace with Asiwaju Tinubu as the number one Citizen of Nigeria. “ He added that “In Kano, being the state with the highest number of delegates, we have already decided and already concluded; we are set to give him at least 98 Percent of delegates in the primaries. Not only that, we are set as usual to give him the highest number of votes so that come May 29, 2023, we will be at the Eagle Square to swear him in as the President”.

The Kano Speaker buttressed the popular slogan of TSG”SAKKAYA,” meaning “Payback” by declaring that “all of us in the North-West are aware of the role he (Asiwaju) played in taking our son, President Buhari, to the villa. So, we are going to reward him; we are going to pay him back. So, I have assured him of victory. Almost all the delegates from the North-West States are going to vote for him in the Primary elections.” He capped his assertions thus: “We don’t know a better candidate than Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.”

Speaking during the programme, a Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman, House Committee on Finance, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke poignantly declared that Asiwaju Tinubu deserves offer of first refusal from the APC for the 2023 Presidential election. In his speech titled “Run, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu,” Faleke said; “it is not often that history nurtures a particular person to fit into the need of a particular time; Our Party is therefore lucky that it does not need to go on a wild goose chase for the man to fly our Party’s flag in these challenging times; a time when the Presidency of Nigeria must go to the person who can continue to end banditry, to crush kidnappers and engage separatists so that our people can live in peace and prosperity. This is a man who will use his financial wizardry to further the gains of economic transformation.”

Faleke went further to state that “To secure the votes of majority in 2023, we must present a candidate who knows where the shoe pinches the average Nigerian, not just because he has been there, but because, as the governor of the most difficult, most complex state in Nigeria, he put smiles on the faces of the poor by convincing the rich to join the government to chase poverty from the streets…That man is Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He is already our National Leader. (And) by the practice and standards in other climes, when the issue of raising a Presidential candidate is on the burner, such a personality should be given the right of first refusal.”

Further pushing for the suitability of Asiwaju for the highest office in the land, Faleke said: “People have wondered why I am on the frontiers for the campaign to draft Asiwaju Tinubu for Presidency. For me and many other men and women he raised, the least sacrifice we can make is to let the whole country see the Leadership we have seen, feel the compassion we have felt; and move the maker of modern Lagos to the moulder of a greater Nigeria.”

In his address, the Director –General of TSG, Arc Umar Ibrahim Mohammed said: “In our search for credible Ieadership to consolidate and improve on the enormous gains of the Buhari administration in the next dispensation, we have painstakingly and consciously undertaken to observe, study and critically analysed the challenges confronting the nation as well as our immense resources, potential and strength. We have also reflected deeply on the outstanding Leadership qualities, personal attributes and antecedents of Asiwaju Tinubu as a man with the attributes of hard work, extensive vision, rich experience and striking intelligence, networks of vital contacts, sense of equity, justice and fairness with high regard for the rule of law.”

“Tinubu is a bridge builder across regional, ethnic and religious lines that is capable of uniting the country. We have identified him as an exceptional manager of resources and a seasoned administrator and we are convinced that the nation needs him in the next dispensation.
“We have no doubt that he has the capacity and the political will to institute a new concept of governance and new agenda of sustainable development, to provide effective leadership, capable of providing solutions to the numerous challenges confronting the nation.”

Indeed, the nation’s political atmosphere has been agog lately with supporters of Tinubu leading the pack with the huge numbers of support group they parade engaging in unrelenting advocacy on the need for the National Leader of the APC to throw his hat in the Presidential ring and for all Nigerians to support him.

more details pls

Sure thing ! Will be glad to help out with all the details you need. But can you be a little more precise with what you'd like to know so that we don't go round in circle. I'd like to tell you exactly what you'd like to know considering that the post is already quite exhaustive.

But in all, it is quite simple. It can be the propelar your import business needs to move to the next level.
Business To Business / Re: Make Money Buying & Shipping Products From Montreal, Canada To Lagos Nigeria by bonapri: 8:18am On May 15, 2020
Many people I know who used to import from the US, now import straight from montreal.
Business To Business / Make Money Buying & Shipping Products From Montreal, Canada To Lagos Nigeria by bonapri: 12:04am On May 15, 2020
It is amazing that most importers don’t share the basic secret of their businesses with even their best friends ! If they did, then most people would have found out that buying and shipping from Montreal, Canada to African cities like Lagos Nigeria , Kigali Rwanda , Accra Ghana , Addis Ababa Ethiopia , Douala Cameroon , Nairobi Kenya , Monrovia Liberia , Freetown Sierra Leone , Luanda Angola , Kampala Uganda , Khartoum Sudan , Durban South Africa , Mogadishu Somalia , Asmara Eritrea , Dar es Salaam Tanzania , Maputo Mozambique , Lusaka Zambia , Harare Zimbabwe , Gaborone Botswana , Windhoek Namibia , Banjul Gambia is the bedrock of most North American based import / export businesses.

The reasons are simple : you find goods of excellent quality in Montreal, Canada comparable to, or even better than, what you find in the US; and also, the exchange rate of the Canadian dollar is way, way lower than the USD, EURO, POUND STERLING, etc leaving a lot more change in your pocket for other stuff than any other western currency would.

So, to make things easy for your import / export business, if you presently reside in Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, Kenya, etc and find products, cars, etc that suit you anywhere in Canada or even on websites like Kijiji.com, Craigslist Montreal, Google Marketplace, Amazon etc, all you need to do is to contact a freight forwarder who will help you inspect and ship down your products or cars. Canada has 2 major shipping hubs – Montreal and Vancouver. The Montreal sea port and airport are situated in the heart of Montreal and can be easily accessed by train and by car. So if anyone tells you to buy and ship from Canada and is not physically present in any of these 2 cities, then know you are certainly paying more than you should.

Top 10 Places to Use Free & Decent Toilet Facilities When out in the Street

I was returning from a business meeting a few days ago and with me was a friend to whom I was giving a ride. Along the way, she became heavily pressed and needed to urinate anywhere possible. After my long pep talk to her not to do it on the road side, she accepted one of the 10 options I gave her, she did her thing and we continued our trip.

Here are the 10 options I gave her which I’m sharing with you folks as a way to make our surroundings healthier and smell better. So, whenever you’re away from home and out in the street and you feel like using the toilet, the top 10 options to consider are :

1. Mall : Enter, ask for the toilet, no one will question you

2. Public Building : Enter, ask for the toilet, no one will question you

3. Petrol Station : Enter, ask for the toilet, no one will question you

4. Service Rendering Office (MTN office, DSTV office, PHCN, etc) : Enter, ask for the toilet, no one will question you

5. Fast Food Restaurant : ask for a dish not on their menu, like Pizza, then ask for the toilet

6. Bar : ask for a drink not on their menu, like Chateau Rouge, then ask for the toilet

7. Church : act like you want to pray, then ask for the toilet

8. Bank : ask a question at the customer service desk on account opening, then ask for the toilet

9. Supermarket : ask for a product they certainly will not have, like mosquito repellent spray, then ask for the toilet

10. Institute : make an inquiry on how to enroll, then ask for the toilet

Yours and Polinpo’s responses have been insightful, very correct apparently. What’s probably not correct is your attitude right there. This sort of one-upmanship is uncalled for. Seeing you didn’t attend the test the least you can do is to wish them goodwill.

I am very very sorry if I came out as arrogant. I didnt mean to. That's not my nature. I was probably too excited to see that I was certainly on the right track and that some other economist was thinking what I was thinking. Please excuse me once again.

But in addition, this kind of mind bugging mono-question tests are gradually becoming the order of the day. Some of my friends also talked about it yesterday evening at Banilux when I threw the question open to them on reading this thread. Obviously, some big companies are gradually adopting this method and the questions usually almost always revolve around inappropriate linear regression, logic fallacies, the law of one price (LOOP), etc when the position is in the commercial realm.

Na wa ooo. I just dont know what to say again. Let me come and be going...

polinpo:

Here is the answer to this question.

The question is based on the Econometrics theory of Linear regression and its applicability to commercial considerations.

The product cost = N30k

Logistics to Mile-2 cost = N4k

Total cost to Mile-2 = N34k

What makes up the logistics costs = packaging charges, loading charges, transport, etc

Amongst all of these variables, only one changed… transport. Why then would you incorrectly make a linear regression between the extra miles and the total cost of logistics ? Consequently, even if the buyer is now covering twice the distance from Badagry to Mile 2, the logistics cost will not be assumed to double along with it (inappropriate linear regression) as the other charges are paid just once and not twice and only the transport chunk will be doubled not the entire logistics cost.

The answer, therefore, is unequivocally (c) Less than N38,000. This is because when you double the logistics cost due to the distance that was doubled, you must resist the temptation of making an inappropriate linear regression by providing for the drop in cost for the charges that will not be paid twice but once. This is where the “less” comes in. “Less” therefore stands for all the costs that are incurred once. Understood ?

Does anyone wish to debunk this ?

I thought as much. You're certainly on point.

I knew this was inappropriate linear regression the minute I saw it. That is why the sales director claimed a real sales manager would pick the right answer in seconds. This is because real sales managers expedite shipments all the time to customers and understand that packaging, loading, etc all form part of the customer's total costs which are often paid just once at the point of loading even if the customer instructs his truck not go to warehouse A but to continue to his warehouse B.

This is a real life question that only business school thorough breds can answer.

Sorry pal... this explains why you've not gotten a call from them since. If I had been there, I probably would have answered it in seconds and gotten the call back.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Mono-Question Tests ! Is This the New Aptitude Test Trend In Nigeria? by bonapri: 10:26pm On Feb 09, 2018
polinpo:
Yes you’re right. There is more to the question than meets the eye. And no, your answer is not correct. N38,000 is certainly not the right answer. Give me a short while to eat and rest and when I return, I shall clearly explain to you why your answer is wrong and what your answer should have been. Afterwards, you’ll certainly agree with the sales director that a real sales manager ought to figure out the answer in seconds. If you’re not armed with the right theory, you can never ever answer this question right.

Only an economist can answer this question right. The sales director probably is looking for a sales manager with a background in economics. He knows the average sales manager was trained on the job and so was trying to weed out the quacks.

Polinpo is right. Your N38,000 answer was certainly wrong. Without the right economics theory, you cant answer this question right.

magi6: It looks like for now, these are the only options there are to gain more market share in West & Central Africa if you dont have the expertise it takes to do it yourself. Based on what I've gathered so far from other stakeholders, exporting FMCG products to Ecowas and Central African countries is very profitable because these countries take Nigeria to be their supermarket where every FMCG product is produced and is available. Since Nigerian products are usually not too expensive, once the products get to these non-producing countries, they are usually purchased immediately. The only issue here is that venturing into these markets is not as easy as A, B, C. You need to be careful and well guided especially if you dont speak French.

Nigeria Exports Non-Oil Products To 103 Countries – Aganga
LEADERSHIP EDITORS on May 3, 2012 - 7:23pm

Dr Olusegun Aganga, the Minister of Trade and Investment, says the country exports about 117 non-oil products to 103 countries annually.
Aganga said this on Thursday in Abuja at the Ministerial briefing to mark this year’s democracy day and the first anniversary of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
He said that Nigeria had 5,300 products but exports only 117, adding that there was need for diversification.
``This means we have to diversify by moving to value added products, we have the market and raw materials.
``It is time to become an industrialised nation by focusing on the area where we have comparative and competitive advantage.’’
Aganga said that a new trade policy had been put in place by the administration, the first in the past 10 years, to boost Nigeria’s domestic, regional and international trade as well as facilitate the inflow of investments into the country.
He said the country had an advantage in Agriculture, which had necessitated the repositioning of the sector.
``Due to the revamping and strengthening of the Federal Produce Inspection Service (FPIS), a total of 265,588 metric tons of agricultural products were inspected.
``As a result of this, export volumes increased by 17.23 per cent and export values by 23. 9 per cent.’’
The minister said that Nigeria had attracted a lot of investments in spite of the security challenges it was presently facing as well as provided a haven for investors due to its large workforce and market in Africa.
Aganga, however, regretted that out of 84 million acres of arable land in Nigeria, only 40 per cent were being utilised.
He said he had visited over 12 countries to attract investments to Nigeria, adding that the visits had started yielding positive results.
To this end, he said, the ministry had established a trade and investment council with Australia.
According to him, efforts are being made toward establishing similar councils with other countries, including China, Qatar and Brazil.
Aganga said that an MoU had also been signed with an American firm to establish power plants that could produce 10,000 megawatts of electricity as well as assemble locomotives in Nigeria.
Earlier, the Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, said that Nigeria would surmount its present security challenges and move forward as the fastest growing economy in sub-Saharan Africa.
He congratulated journalists in the country on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day and appealed to them to ensure ``balance, probity and integrity’’ in their reportage.

Hello House,

We just recently doubled the capacity and output of our new factory here in Agbara and I am saddled with the responsibility of also doubling our sales output. I am seriously thinking of venturing into the French speaking countries all around Nigeria (Ghana not included) and seeing if these markets can absorb our new output. Can anyone please direct me to any agency that can help me carry out this huge task successfully ? I am not talking of truck owners or traders o. I mean any marketing agency that specializes in export sales of Nigerian products to West Central African countries and can guide our entry into these neighboring francophone countries. Thank you.
