You want to live in Sangotedo and continue your work in Ikoyi? I laugh in swahili. I hope you are ready for the stress from traffic and the ill health both physically and mentally that will occur?

You better renew your Ogudu rent or look for a cheaper accommodation on the mainland.

Many thanks. The traffic has been my major concern.

Must you live in a 3 bedroom flat if you are not a married man with kids?

There are cheaper houses at Lekki for a room and parlour, go for it.
Thanks Ma. I appreciate

You have the following options;

1. Pay N.1.2 millon for the 3BR in Ogudu.

2. Move to Sangotedo and readjust your life with the traffic situation.

3. Move to a cheaper apartment type in Ogudu e.g 1 BR,2BR.

4. Make more money.

Many thanks for your suggestions. I appreciate

Hello, I need your advice on this situation.

I currently stay in a 3 bedroom apartment in Ogudu, and work in Ikoyi axis. My current rent is 1m and the landlord is about to increase it to 1.2m from next year.

However, I just deposited 30% payment for a 3 bedroom flat Sangotedo and the owner said I can move in while I spread the balance.

My concern is, I want to relocate to the new apartment in Sangotedo but the traffic going to work borders me. Is it better to rent it out? How is security and light in Sangotedo axis?

I am really confused on what to do as my current rent is coming to an end.

Please I need your suggestions.
Career / Re: Has Delay Or Waiting Been A Blessing Or A Curse To You? by BornToSucced(m): 9:39am On Sep 13, 2021
I think delay (waiting or patience) has been a summary of my own journey.

Most things (jobs, promotion, a partner) I wanted and really anxious for never came when I was ready. But when it does happen, it's usually massive.

In this I have learnt never to focus on outcomes, but the process. If you spend your life waiting for outcomes, you would miss so many things along the journey.

While waiting for something, use that time to grow other areas of your life.

Someone told me that if you want to receive something from God or achieve anything worthwhile, PATIENCE is the watchword. That's why many can't wait and rather look for short cut.

Please also know there's a thin line between patience and waste of time.

To better assist you, I'd love to know a bit about your plan.

Let's look at the following questions:

1. What type of block of flats are you envisaging?(3beds,2beds,1bed)

2. What's the current rent rate for your preferred Choice in question one? See response below please

3. How many units do you intend to build on your 2plots of land?

Properties / I Am Confused Between Building Or Buying A Flat by BornToSucced(m): 5:08pm On Sep 01, 2021
I am really confused right now.

I am stuck between buying a one bedroom apartment in a prime estate in Ikota, Ajah at a total cost of 30m. The rental per annum around the area should be 1.5m - 1.8m. Payment plan is 13 months

However, another mind is telling me to use the 15m cash I have with me to start my 8 unit bedroom miniflat in Awoyaya. I already have a 2 plots for this and the building plan is almost ready. I know the 15m won't complete the project, so I had stop wherever the money is exhausted.

Please share your opinion if you were in my shoe. Thanks

I have a 700sqm land in Awoyaya, and I am thinking of erecting 8 unit of mini flats bungalow.

Can the land size accommodate this please?

How much should I also budget as an estimate?

Thanks a lot.

Sometimes, it is good to learn a bit of crypto before starting stock market. Assuming you have used luno binance, hot bit etc this won't be hard to do...you fund your bamboo wallet the same way you fund luno wallet then.. you buy coins on binance using Market , limit, oco etc...go and learn crypto join if you wan enjoy stock...you will learn how to buy stocks at support, , sell at resistant, you will know ema, RSI understand candle charts etc when you learn crypto first...

Thanks Boss! Your point is well appreciated cheesy grin

Limit is when you set a price to buy or sell stock as the price you desire.

Market is buying or sells at the current or prevaling price that present price.

I have been following this thread since last year, and I am now ready to start buying my first stocks.

Duration; long term growth stocks.

I am using Trove, but the Market and Limit option when buying stock is what I don't understand.

Please what's the difference between the Market and Limit option?

Which option would you recommend?

InaNla, 4Play, Oakpearl, Skymoore, YerYer, seyisanya, afroxy, Yazga, Nobody , thesilentone, lafuria1

Many thanks.

Op, your babe is manipulating you. This is where you have to take a stand devoid of emotion.

Let her know your sister can stay with you as long as you decide, and there’s nothing she can do.

She is not yet your wife in the first place. S don’t start what you won’t finish in the name of love.

But also make sure your sister isn’t the bad egg. If she is, discipline her accordingly too.

As a man you need to reason and act like one, or else you’re in for showdown.

Family / Re: Have You Ever Shared An Apartment? What's Your Experience Like? by BornToSucced(m): 10:49am On May 31, 2021
I have done that twice and it was a horrible experience.

You’re in your 30s, so I believe you should be on your own and build your own future.

With a shared apartment comes shared responsibilities- both positive and negative. Often, the negative far outweigh the positives.

Imagine after moving in with the guy and he suddenly decides to relocate to another place, what would you do? What if he says he doesn’t want you to continue after a year?

Lastly, he’s the only person legally recognized by the landlord. As such, he can sack you anytime you have a little misunderstanding.

My thoughts!

At 20 you should be focusing on your studies.

What’s your problem young man? grin

Just be friendly with both sexes, and try to bring up some topics and ask them for their opinion. That way when they are talking you’re listening and giving them eye contact.

While listening also, you’re also reasoning your next questions based on what they are saying.

E.g I really like your explanation; that was a brilliant one, Amaka!; Please tell me more Mr/Miss Professor!

They would smile and then you continue.

Whether 7kg or 12kg, it all depends on your usage and cooking pattern.

7kg can last for 3 months if you rarely cook as well as if all you cook is indomie and rice.

Same 7kg can finish within 2 weeks if you cook daily.

No doubt, I think Lagos is way ahead of most states.

Just imagine if the Northern states were thinking in this regard. Rather, there are sending their indigene for advanced courses in Quran and Islamic studies, wasting tax payers money in building mosques, and focusing on herdsmen grin

Just imagine 5 states in the North, 5 in the South, and 5 in the East all thinking and planning like Lagos. They won't have time to discuss trivial and frivolous topics like herdsmen and bandits.

But since most of these states Governors are clueless, incompetent, and morally deficient, the devil has infiltrated their minds. When they speak on national issues, even satan marvel at their level of incompetence.

Nice one Sanwolu, even though you are not perfect. I know governing a state as complex as Lagos is not a child's play.

Please let's try to encourage him and others that are trying.

I have read lot of comments here on this thread and I have some points to make;
I know UAE is not a easy country, but am assured of the fact that I can't suffer in this country irrespective of the challenges I face. I have been around for about four days and am learning the system gradually.
UAE is a system that you follow just the way a child goes through kindergarten and move to the University and graduate. If you follow the system you will enjoy the country, but if you feel there is dirhams on the street of Dubai for you to pick you will go home depressed and dejected.
Am a very focused person with vision and determination and I know what am aiming for.
I came to UAE to follow the system and make a name , it might not be easy now but in a couple of years there will be testimony to make. I will be registering for CNA in a couple of weeks to start the process alongside the job that I will be starting in a week time.

As for those saying I can't make it here in Dubai, let me remind you one thing that you are not my God, only him knows my yesterday, today and tomorrow. What you believe is what happens to you, since I was born I don't believe in the word called failure, my only word is success. No matter how many times you fall be rest assured that you will definitely stand up. Dubai is not my final point , it is just a step to my final destination.

As for the dude saying am a scam and there is no way visa can be processed for 150k, I pity you try and get informed and always research widely. I will advice you to visit travnook.com and see for yourself that a UAE visa is 125k to process. The owner of the site is an Ugandan not a Nigerian. And I can tell you that the problem with Nigeria is not the leaders but Nigerians because we don't trust ourselves again because everybody that post on nairaland is seen as a scam .
If an Ugandan man can process a visa with less that 150k, my friends in Nigeria and Dubai were charging me 250-450 for a visa.

Finally I will be closing the thread because the aim of the thread has been fulfilled. Those that need to learn from my experience at Cotonou should learn from it, that is the reason for the thread. Thanks again, good night and God bless.

God will bless you in that Dubai. I am so angry with the negative comments on this thread.

People assume that because things didn’t work out for them, then it can’t work out for others. Life and success is about taking calculated risk.

I know a lot of Nigerians that are working in DFC, and other great organizations in Dubai.

Op, I like your mindset.

This same thing happened to me in 2014 when I finished my NYSC and was planning of relocating to Lagos for greener pastures. My friends discouraged me with all manner of stories.

Within me I knew what I wanted and I knew it won’t come easy. I did smaller jobs just to gain experience. The first job I got as an Office Manager, I sometimes cleaned the office and bought food for the CEO. It was a very small office.

Guess what, it was that experience that opened the door for the multinational company I am working now.

God still rules in the affairs of men. Just seek his presence and he will guide every steps you take.

Today the same friends that discouraged me from coming to Lagos are still stuck in unemployment, some are now planning to relocate to Lagos.

Op, you must succeed in Dubai. Just do the right thing, pray to God to show you favour, and desist from crime. Most especially, please avoid negative people, especially some bad Nigerians in Dubai.

Cheers!!!
