Car TalkRe: My Shocking Experiences With Fuel Pump Attendants. by BornToSucced(m): 3:43pm On Dec 23, 2021
I once went to Total Filling Station in Gbagada to fuel my car for 5k, but I was surprised when the old woman (almost 40) working as a Fuel Attendant arrogantly stopped the meter at 4,900. I asked her why? With her full chest, she said the 100 is her chop money. I was confused, annoyed, and dissapointed at the same time.

I told her to complete my fuel or else I would deal with her. And if she needed a tip, she should have asked me politely.

She grudgingly completed my fuel, and keep saying the money is nothing.

It wasn't the money that was my problem, because I tip when I can. But the way she went about it was so arrogant.

Please watch out for those fuel attendants.

Start by scanning the car.
Also, check its service history or you can use the VIN to check. Look out for when last oil, ATF and belt was changed.
Thanks

Use mobile 1 5w 30 for engine oil service.

Please don't touch your gear box oil. Just try and check if it is guage. This done when the car is running in park.

Scan the car for codes
Check coolant level and use the recommended original coolant if it is low
Thanks Boss

Hello everyone.......I ordered for RX330 and it arrived this week, unfortunately, the catalyst with the pipe was no where to be found.

Please advise on how to go about this.

Which oil and lubricant do you recommend for the car?, including other servicing i should carry out on the car before using it.

The check engine light is on.

@ The bolded, yipee!

You ought to have butterflies in your stomach from the excitement of a new home, new location and a geographical fresh start in 2022.

This update makes me smile, I think it's because of my preceding sentence. New beginnings excite me.

Get to the area first and we'll see nah tongue, but be warned, the traffic is legendary!

I'm doing very well, thank you.
Thank you. Cheers

You work in Ikoyi and you want to reside in Sangotedo?....Why not move to areas like Sabo Alagomeji, Yaba or even Onike. Transport will be cheaper and you're less likely to experience traffic on your way to and back from the office. You can even get a 2/3 bedroom apartment within your rent budget.
Thank you for your input.

Hmmmm....oga, Sangotedo to Ikoyi travel traffic is not a child's play. Better leave sentiments and rent out the place. By the time you do it for 6 months, you will grow older in looks than your years.

You could change the size of your accommodation to a much affordable one while you continue to service your loan.

You could change jobs to somewhere around Sagotedo so you could live in the house.

You could spend the whole 1.2m for a mini flat in Ikoyi so you could have much shorter travel time to/fro work to improve your quality of time and give you more time to think of doubling your hustle.

Whatever you do.....Sangotedo to Ikoyi travel shouldn't be done everyday biko. Do not forget your physical and mental health matter while pursuing your daily bread. Good luck.
Thanks alot. I would put your various points into consideration.

Are you serious? My bad! I saw start up and my mind instantly went to a company in its infant stage.

Pls whatever you decide las las, don't rent out your new house without living in it first, especially a house you own.

Some tenants are a real nightmare, by the time your house reverts to you after their tenancy, you will weep and spend a ton repairing the damage they've left behind.
Lol. Many thanks! cool cool cool

@ Born2Succeed, I thought I saw you say somewhere that you are a start-up.

So, I'm guessing you own the business and you are the boss. If that's right no let me wooze you slap through this phone grin

If you are the boss, then a lot of things are within your control and you can manage the traffic along that axis better than those of us working the 9-5.

I know a civil engineer who runs his own business and lives around Abraham Adesanya, the guy manages his time and movement so well that he is hardly caught up in the peak hours of brutal traffic.

He times his exits from home and work at very appropriate hours. He may still jam traffic as that is very typical of Lagos but it won't be the mad rush hour traffic.

If my guess is right (about you being the boss) move into your house and make things work with the traffic, while you invite us for the house warming party.
grin grin grin When I said I am a start up, I mean a young man that's just starting life cheesy

Sincerely, your advice have really been helpful.....

Brotherly, I don't understand the people advising you out of ignorance or is it that people just love suffering. Why on earth will you move from Ogudu to Sangotedo? When you want to make a decision, use facts and stop depending on emotional responses from people who want you to suffer as they are suffering.

Two ways to confirm decisions like this

- Open your Google map on a regular Monday and check the distance by road and traffic situations between Sangotedo to Ikoyi, then compare it to Agodu. You will find out that you made a grave mistake.

- Choose a specific Monday & Friday, take a cab from Ikoyi to Sangotedo, try this twice in a week and sleep over in a hotel at Sangotedo, your eyes will open.

After doing this, whatever decision you decide is left to you.

Edit: Since you actually purchased the apartment as I just read, then you need no advice. You are suppose to move in, irrespective of the traffic situations since the house is yours. If it was a rented apartment, it would have been a terrible choice.
Bro, I totally understand everything you said. I know the traffic in that axis is a nightmare. But in life you can't get it all.

In addition, my landlord just increased my rent by 200k, and that's not even my problem because he's the owner of the house. But the way he asked the tenants to vacate immediately if we are not okay with the increase was provoking. I can't continue to go through this ugly experience.

On a serious note, you need to do trade offs at this point:

What is more important to you? For instance if:
1. Your job has a strict resumption time (hello bank);
2. If your job is not flexible i.e. you cannot do it at home so you have to finish for the day before leaving the office;
3. If your job requires you available anytime (including weekends)

You would consider trading off space & resources for proximity

If:
1. The above doesn't apply or you can work around it;
2. You have other projects where the space is paramount;
3. You cannot afford rent + monthly deposits for Sangotedo

You would consider trading off proximity for space & resources

I wish you all the best.
Many thanks dear. I really appreciate your inputs.

But you can get a smaller apartment cheaper than your current rent.

Except you use all three rooms?
I can't find a cheaper apartment where I currently live. I think my current apartment is even cheaper compared to other compound in the area.

I use the 3 rooms.........
FamilyRe: Please Advise Me by BornToSucced(op): 6:39pm On Oct 20, 2021
bukatyne:
1. Why do you have a three bedroom apartment as a single man? That's what I need for myself and the fact that I hope to settle down soon.

2. If traffic is/was a concern, you wouldn't think of relocating to Sangotedo; that's frying pan to fire. I know.

3. I rather buy a house to live in or resell than rent. Except you want it as a steady income for life. If you want to rent the Sangotedo house, then negotiate with your landlord or more to a room and parlour (more advised). Thanks.

4. If you want to do Sangotedo, then get ready for the serious traffic to & fro, the wear & tear on your body and car, quality of life, productivity etc. You scared me. I will look into this before making a final decision.

Goodluck.

Threads like this tickle me because I’m mentally trying to imagine what the distance is, this one everybody is shaking head for you.

OP I want to ask why didn’t you purchase the apartment in an area closer to your job but I suppose I already know what the answer is.

Anyway congratulations and good luck.

Consider that you would need to be paying back the loan on the apartment while also paying rent if you choose to live somewhere else. Look at your finances and decide accordingly.
Thank you. I am happy you know the bolded.

Your last point is why I am strategizing to reduce my rent expense.

For those that ask why I didn't get an apartment closer to my workplace, I just couldn't afford it at this time. I am a start up angry

I just saw your last post where you said you bought the house first of all congratulations, secondly pls move into your house and weather the storm of traffic.

If you time your exit right, from your house and the office traffic won't be so brutal. Better still park your car one side and start joining the staff bus to minimize the wear and tear on your body (if your office offers that perk and you don't mind)

The people living there haven't quenched yet grin, but traffic on the Lekki - Ajah axis (from Chevron downwards) is unusually heavy because of the road construction by LASG.
Thanks dear. Your response is motivating.

Yes, the road construction is causing heavy traffic. Do you reside along that axis?

If you are ready to leave home by 4am daily, including the risk, and you will save some money from the rent in sango
Calculate all together. If you are not saving up to 200k by relocating to Sango.
Just remain in Ogudu and look for houses around the neighborhoods

Living in a cheap house or area, paying more on transport is not a good idea

Besides, you didn't mention if you are a family man with children or not
Thanks. I am not married.

The reason I want to move to Sangotedo is that, I took a loan to buy the 2 units of 3 bedroom apartment and I want to reduce my expense on rent by moving into the apartment. Beside, the estate is a good estate with Mobile Police security and I drive too.

You want to live in Sangotedo and continue your work in Ikoyi? I laugh in swahili. I hope you are ready for the stress from traffic and the ill health both physically and mentally that will occur?

You better renew your Ogudu rent or look for a cheaper accommodation on the mainland.
Many thanks. The traffic has been my major concern.

Must you live in a 3 bedroom flat if you are not a married man with kids?

There are cheaper houses at Lekki for a room and parlour, go for it.

You have the following options;

1. Pay N.1.2 millon for the 3BR in Ogudu.

2. Move to Sangotedo and readjust your life with the traffic situation.

3. Move to a cheaper apartment type in Ogudu e.g 1 BR,2BR.

4. Make more money.
Many thanks for your suggestions. I appreciate

Hello, I need your advice on this situation.

I currently stay in a 3 bedroom apartment in Ogudu, and work in Ikoyi axis. My current rent is 1m and the landlord is about to increase it to 1.2m from next year.

However, I just deposited 30% payment for a 3 bedroom flat Sangotedo and the owner said I can move in while I spread the balance.

My concern is, I want to relocate to the new apartment in Sangotedo but the traffic going to work borders me. Is it better to rent it out? How is security and light in Sangotedo axis?

I am really confused on what to do as my current rent is coming to an end.

Please I need your suggestions.
CareerRe: Has Delay Or Waiting Been A Blessing Or A Curse To You? by BornToSucced(m): 9:39am On Sep 13, 2021
I think delay (waiting or patience) has been a summary of my own journey.

Most things (jobs, promotion, a partner) I wanted and really anxious for never came when I was ready. But when it does happen, it's usually massive.

In this I have learnt never to focus on outcomes, but the process. If you spend your life waiting for outcomes, you would miss so many things along the journey.

While waiting for something, use that time to grow other areas of your life.

Someone told me that if you want to receive something from God or achieve anything worthwhile, PATIENCE is the watchword. That's why many can't wait and rather look for short cut.

Please also know there's a thin line between patience and waste of time.
