mariannlove: jst want to knw if its compulsory for one to wear suit to an interview/apptiude test. Pls ur contributions wil be highly appreciated as am preparin for an interview.

You can wear anything for test because most often that not, nobody will look at your dressing for a test. However for an interview, i always advice you go on suit, no one will query you with a well dressed suit. Depending on the area, they might not mind alternative dressing. I had my entry level interview with Gtbank in 2004 and i saw two guys with a omplete native (the interview was at Abuja). I thought in myself that they have failed only to see them in training school when we were called up. Like I said, if you are not sure, please put on your nice suit.

This is exactly what happened to me last Friday. The Guy cooked up the story at the police station, I couldn't believe my ears. Now, I have learnt my lessons: learn to cook stories rather than fighting.

Lol!

What a dumb explanation from the naval authority. We can cook up stories to defend anything. Gosh!

ernest, have u ever been to Canada or United states from Italy? what does it take as a 9ja student in Italia to visit Canada or U.S? I mean what are the chances? Also, what are the chances applying for a study visa to these countries from Italy as an International student of course. Pls. I need an insight Bro,if you have slightest idea. This is 2013 and I wanna make some decision and move. I am asking this questions to get things fixed for someone. smiley u know as e dey go na cheesy

The chances are much higher here than applying from Nigeria. And I mean much more. From the little experience and that of my friends, all you need to do first is to get your permiso first, then package your application very well. I am not saying they dont reject but the chances that you will get lie within 9/10.

Bitter? Ha! Low mentality on display, all you need to do is watch the news and see what's happening around the world. Anyway logic doesn't function in nigeria.

I guess you would have asked the person what his plans are before you discourage him. Better still you can quote the fact and figures you see on the news rather than refering him to the news (how are you sure that the guy has not factor in all those info of yours from the news). The people who have been giving detailed advice here are not in italy just to hussle like most people in your thought do. At least 3 of us here that i am sure of had good profiles before leaving Nigeria and our visions have not been cut short a bit while here.

In short i will advice you understand the posters plight before you jump into advicing if the guy is "going to hell or heaven"

Thank you.

Thanks bro, they ask me to come back on the 13th but to my surprise is never ready. The next date given now was 27th of December. My plan now is to apply for my Visa immediately after the Declaration of Value is given. I learnt from this forum that I can apply without DoV but I don't think is possible to get the visa here without DoV because am not presently in Naija, that is my concern but my plan now is to apply by Gods grace first week of January if it's comes that exact date maybe I will meet up with second semester .My people said one of the embassy staff said there is no issue so far I get the declaration of value. The embassy will attend to me is when I get to the school then I can sort myself out I tried to call the school but they said they are busy this period that mailing them will be the best option but since then I never get any reply.
Thanks.

What country are you? Most of the people I know didnt not even do the DDV and they got the visa much more easily from other countries. And I am talking about Nigerians. I know someone who got in less than a week in Cote D ivore, another in belgium. Its only on Nigeria they insist on DDV and as you would have read, myself, superior 1 and another friend of mine got before the DDV was ready. Their process is crazy here and so one must be proactive.

teemyfab: Thanks brothers for the good job may God do unto you all what you can't do for yourself. I was given December 1st for my collection as stated on my receipt but they ask me to come back on the 13th of Dec. But the issue now is that the deadline given by the school for the enrolment is 14th of Dec. which is late already I applied for my Master degree which am able to secure a place in a university in Venice. Please brother with your wealth of experience is it possible for the school to consider me for the next intake or is there any way I can go with it.I have mailed the school in regards to this but I never get a reply from them and the way I observe things is like the placement is on Quota. Please your contribution will be appreciated.

Didn't see this on time. What's the status now?

Thanks

Listen to the advice above and stay back if you dont have anything concrete in Italy. If you are coming to school, you can give it a thought cos there are many opportunities as regards that. If you are coming to hussle, this is the worst time to make such move, it would be terrible! Dont think about it.

newacca: @all,
pls. help me! My wife departed Nigeria on 29th Sept.2012 on KLM flight which was due to transit in Amsterdam afterwhich the traveller connect flight to her final destination, which is Florence in this case. She took her Nigeria mobile line with her and I was able to call her on the phone when she got to Amsterdam. She have to wait from 5:00 am to 8:40pm when the connecting flight will depart Amsterdam to Amerigo Vespucci Airport Florence, which will arrive Florence @ 10:45pm.
I was also able to chat online with her when she got to Amsterdam,I think there is free internet service there. She told me she needs a rest while chatting with her around 12:55pm Sunday and told me she will come back online in the nxt 3hrs. I called her on the fone around the same time, but the mobile network was not connecting and she did not come online. Initially,I did not get worried because I concluded maybe the plan has departed Amsterdam and she probably might be on board. Since last night,I have not heard from her and I am worried a bit. She is a first time traveller,an International student.
I am calling on fellow Nairalanders who are experienced to throw in advice and suggestion about what might have happened or what is really happening. I was told pay fone centres around d Florence Airport close @ 8:00 pm and that she needs a home address to get a simcard to be able to call. I am worried. Please help me with useful infos.
Thank you all.

Worry not bro. Italy is a funny place for a new person especially if the person is travelling for the first time albeit a woman. I got a family that took me in the day i arrive and it was with their phone i was able to reach my family else it would have been impossible. My phone roams in italy but cant receive call nor call out except for text messages i receive. She needs a code Fiscale before she can get a sim so i am sure she will need to call with an alternative line.

Did anyone come to meet her and what accomodation was pre arranged. Dont fear sha, too much law for this land but I am sure she is ok.

Davedavy:

Meat, dairy and other animal products are not allowed into the EU from countries outside the EU.Moreover, meats are very cheap in Europe, you really dont need to bring it.I believe there should be no problem in bringing in beans and groundnuts though. My mum often bring me foodstuffs like egunsi powder, beans powder, gari, pundo yam, okro whenever she comes visiting. So i believe you will be fine bringing in those ones.It is better if you can get them in retail packages, that way the custom officers wont have problems identifying them.

Thanks bro. This really will help

Hello. I am billed to travel to Italy in a couple of days. Are there prohibited food items? I actually planned to take along fried meat, ground nut and beans so as to take care of the first few days before aclimatisation.

Good advice will be appreciated.

Sure the agency will want to earn more but it all depend on you.If you are so sure that you will be coming back then go ahead and buy a return ticket.Did you say the immigration will disturb you if you dont have a return ticket?

The Nigerian airport.Your passport will be stamped OUT in Nigeria and stamped IN in Italy

The travel agency I am booking with just advice that I book a return ticket because the visa with me expires oct 20 even though I explain to dem that permit will be processes in Italy. They said immigration officers could give me hassles. Pls what's ur take on this cos I might be forced to book a return with flexible option.
Travel / Re: Italian Student Visa-help! by bossman4: 11:01am On Aug 15, 2012
ernestleon: The most important point is where your passport will be stamped OUT at that point if them begin misbehave u fit just giv dem smal tin.

Are you refering to nigeria airport or at the italy airport?
Travel / Re: Italian Student Visa-help! by bossman4: 10:51pm On Aug 14, 2012
ernestleon:
master ur boy just dey o...i will advice a one way ticket you never can tell what will happen in the future and remember that the agency wont refund if you decide not to travel back to nija in december.
When i was travelling i bought a two way ticket for 155k thinking i will come back after getting my carta di sorggiorno but along the line i decided to remain and finish my bsc here instead of coming back.I called air marco for a refund they refered me to the agency where i bought my ticket then i called the agency they told me "bros that one don enta voicemail",that refund is not possible.
As for those immigration officers, dey will only look at ur (during check-in)passport visa page and then scan the bio-metric chip at the back of the passport ask a question or two and probably try to make you nervous if you are a first time traveller.lastly dem go worry you to drop something for them and threaten you if you dont comply and pls nor fom professor for them it piss them off.Just let them kn that they are the boss and they have the power to do what ever they want.

Thanks bruv. That immigration part na naija part two. So like how much will be good for them?
Travel / Re: Italian Student Visa-help! by bossman4: 10:02pm On Aug 14, 2012
@Ernestleon,

How u dey? Do you think its wise for me to book a one way ticket even though I plan to come down in December. I saw one air maroc one way for 100k. I hope immigration officers wont query me!
