If a special category visa, or any regular visa is issued with a single entry validity, then, the visa is automatically expired once it has been used even if the expiration date has not ran out. So, she is good to make a fresh application.
Note: In Schengen territory, it is not allowed to apply for two visas within 6 months, an applicant must wait for the previous visa to completely run out before making a fresh application.

thanks prof for the wonderful enlighten. The visa type is a student visa, she returned home when she lost her sponsor and could not sponsor herself.

This is one of my areas of expertise. Welding as a trade is heavily regulated in Canada. No one wants an exploding pressure vessel or collapsing structures. The government and employer apprenticeship scheme takes at least 3 years of learning on the job (under a journeyman)+schooling.

Do you have city and guild qualifications in welding? Are you a journeyman welder from the EU or USA? If yes, then you can apply for express entry, then challenge your qualifications by sitting for the red seal exam once you are on ground in canada.

Without that you can't practice as a welder in Canada. The government also doesn't give visa to start apprenticeship in Canada.

Big boss please what advice do you have for anyone that intend taking up an apprentices program or technical skill program in Canada? I'm interested in Industrial welding but which to come as a visit and a take a short course of 6months pls enlighten us .

As africa all our daily routine centered arround miracle.You might have all what it takes and still not get the required result, Even the unexpecting and low ranking country can still dennied one a visa for a living proof that God is behind every Plan.
Always pray for his miracle even you merit It.like some pple will scare us that getting the visa is one thing and allow you in at the POE is Another. Finally in surpport, you truly don't need any invitation ,even have relation to get a visa , but you purpose of visit count.

Hello everyone,

I just got a Canadian visa today for me, my wife and daughter. And it took less three weeks!
I filled and printed form, then got it sign and straight to VFS Canada Visa center. I applied for the purpose of a tourist.
We really didn't have plenty money but we had enough to cover the trip. We had just N1.5million in our bank statement.
But before I applied I didn't a small research here just to know people's experience. You just need deligence.
See my package documentation:

1. Hotel reservation (used my GTBank mastercard)
2. Statement of acct.
3. Marriage cert.
4. Fixed investment letter
5. Daughter's birth cert.
6. Travel plan: my itinerary (tourist attractions I intend to visit) and breakdown of expense (cost of flight, taxi, local transport etc)
7. Employment letter
6. Copy of Annual leave approval
7. Work ID.
8. ...of course two passport photo! THAT'S ALL!

I let them know I don't have anyone in Canada and I intend to go with my wife and kids. No invitation, so the hotel.
Well, how did I convince them I'll return to Nigeria? I really can't tell. I suspect it's our travel history, been to the US, UK and Switzerland. Still, I'm not too sure. One thing I did was being very meticulous in arranging the above docs.
Multiple entry for one year. That's not bad.

Our God is great my brother, it only the people that believe in there efforts and wisdom will not believe in God's miracle. I was denied once but I believe God will give me your type of miracle (2yrs multiple) I claim it . Regarding your question, just find another conference and make a booking ,explain to them at port of entry if they ask about your previous conference ni o ,that you have some urgent business or job issues to attend to .

While I am not a Canada VO, can just give my perspective based on personal experience.

As you said "Purpose of Visit" was ticked as your reason for refusal. Based on what you said you submitted, my understanding is that the VO did not believe you were genuinely going to Canada for a vacation as you claimed.

One major red flag is having a co-sponsor for a vacation, especially when the co-sponsor is not your husband or wife. Or in the situation if you were a young student, perhaps a mother or father.

Legitimately, as an adult, if you are truly venturing on a vacation, you should be able to afford it.

If you plan on applying again, you should ensure you have enough funds to sponsor yourself on this vacation. For a Canada visitor's visa, they are really BIG on home ties and finances - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/apply-who.asp

Right now, it seems as though your previous app was weak on both. e.g Using a co-sponsor for finances and also your present activity being an Open University course. The VOs know what Open University is. It is very different from if you were enrolled full-time in a traditional university for a Masters or PhD course.

Address these loopholes and refire. Good luck.
