Foreign Affairs / Re: Ketanji J Brown: Can A Black Be President In Russia Or China? by Botlord: 6:43am On Mar 26, 2022
VOICEofORIENTAL:
The life we live is always a life of opportunities.God gave us the opportunity to live,to grow, to choose & to decide.

However, not every human being created by God, can give us such opportunity, especially opportunity to grow.

There exist certain types of government, religion & traditions that hinders spiritual & educational growth of an individual.

In view of this,I can boldly say that,Barrak Obama,Ketanji Jackson Brown benefited immensely from the system in place & practice in the US.

My question now is,can a black man or woman be president in Russia or China?
It's plain stupidity to ask this type of question... Russia does not trade black slaves or colonize Africa to have an enormous black population...

We've countries that even colonize and trade blacks with none ever having a black president... France, UK and Belgium to mention few.

It's possible in the foreseeable future but now it's almost impossible... Is it racism?? No you can't call it that...

The support base is not favorable and it's almost inconceivable. Black in USA is estimated at 46 million while black in Russia is merely 50000, so how do you expect a black president...

Russia has many rulers in the past who are not of Russia ethicity... Lenin (probably their most respected ruler) is a Jew, Stalin is a Georgian..

1.The proportion of black people as a part of the Russian population is much smaller (less than one percent) than in the UK 3% and the USA 33%...so a black person in Russia is less likely to come in contact with the Russian cops compared to American cops.

2. Also, a black person in Russia is likely to be a student, or on a work visa. Less likely to be a unskilled worker...and thus less likely to be unemployed, and come in contact with the police.

ACUTAL EXPEREINCE

Maybe it's because there aren't many of us and we haven't been here long, so people just aren't used to us. There's a big difference between Bryansk and Moscow. Moscow is like a different country. I never felt discrimination there."

He said he had "never seen police beat up a black person in Russia" and "I've never had anything to do with the police here".

"If people are racist towards me, I just walk away. There's no point being aggressive. People won't understand anyway and they won't change. I try to ignore it. It just makes you stressed. You start to think, 'Why was I born black?'

"I was born in Congo and lived all my life there. I only encountered racism when I came to Russia in 2017. I find it very hurtful. You step outside and everyone looks at you as if you're not human. It's really offensive

Foreign Affairs / Re: Israel Blocked Ukrainian Effort To Get Spyware Over Fears Of Upsetting Russia: by Botlord: 11:56am On Mar 25, 2022
greymiles:
Israel blocked Ukrainian effort to get spyware over fears of upsetting Russia: report
The Israeli government blocked Ukraine from acquiring the Pegasus spyware system out of fear of upsetting Russia, The Washington Post reported.

Israel's Defense Exports Controls Agency rejected a potential license that would have permitted the Israeli tech company NSO Group to offer Ukraine a license for its Pegasus spyware, sources familiar with the matter told the Post.

The sources told the newspaper that Israeli officials wanted to avoid potentially provoking Russia, whose military was helping Syria combat a rebellion near Israel's northeastern border at the time.

The timing of when the license was rejected is unclear, the Post reported, though sources said it could have happened as far back as 2019.

The Hill has reached out to the Israeli government for comment.

In a statement to the Post, the Israeli Defense Ministry, which was once headed by Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, acknowledged that multiple factors are taken into consideration when a license for Pegasus is granted.

"Policy decisions regarding export controls take into account security and strategic considerations, which include adherence to international arrangements," the ministry said.

Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine's vice prime minister and minister of digital transformation, declined to confirm if his country had tried to acquire Pegasus, but did say that Ukraine was seeking Israeli technology.

"The government of Israel is at this time not participating in any discussion or facilitation regarding offensive tech, but we have ongoing conversations with a lot of the Israeli companies in the market and they're at various stages," Fedorov told the newspaper. "But again, let me say this: We have enough capability to continue winning and we're adding new tools, including emerging tools, every day."

Last year, NSO's Pegasus software came under scrutiny after an investigation conducted by 17 media organizations, including the Post, found that it had been used to hack the phones of journalists, activists and government officials. The U.S. Commerce Department effectively blacklisted NSO Group last year.

At the time, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said this action was made as part of the department's efforts to "hold companies accountable that develop, traffic, or use technologies to conduct malicious activities that threaten the cybersecurity of members of civil society, dissidents, government officials, and organizations here and abroad."

Israel has so far refrained from joining other nations in imposing sanctions against Russia over its attack on Ukraine.

Bennett has reportedly been working to arrange peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, seeking to act as a neutral mediator similar to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

On Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that Israel would be a good place for peace talks with Russia to take place.

"We are grateful for [Bennett's] efforts, so that sooner or later we will begin to have talks with Russia, possibly in Jerusalem," Zelensky said. "That's the right place to find peace. If possible."

I don't support war or any forms of violence. But Russia Bleep up big time by invading Ukraine. Anyway the truth of the matter is that Putin is find it difficult to archive his aims.
Let me explain a little bit. Nigeria and Bokoharam. Bokoharam previously were mounting offensive against Nigeria Army, while Nigeria army taking defensive. Then everyone was asking why Nigeria Army not taking offensive , because Nigeria Army knows that the resources at her disposal then can match that Bokoharam but immediately it start receiving series of arms and ammunition she start offensive against Bokoharam.

The case of Russian and Ukrainian is not different from that Nigeria Army and Bokoharam. Ukrainian took the right step to prevent and minima casualties against Russia Army. Now that NATO and US has been supplying effective arms and ammunition you will see that Russia we eventually retreat and come negotiations table.

That is why Ukrainian has been asking for no fly zone or more preventive anti-missile from NATO and USA.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Putin Made ‘big mistake’ Invading Ukraine -NATO Chief by Botlord: 4:12pm On Mar 24, 2022
adenigga:

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of making a “big mistake” by invading Ukraine, as leaders gathered to discuss overhauling the alliance’s Eastern defences.

“President Putin has made a big mistake and that is to launch a war against an independent sovereign nation. He has underestimated the strength of the Ukrainian people, the bravery of the Ukrainian people and their armed forces,” Stoltenberg said ahead of a NATO summit in Brussels.

He further said the leaders of the US-led military alliance would “address the need for a reset of our deterrence and defence in the longer term”, starting with agreeing new deployments to Eastern members – Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria.

NATO has already rushed tens of thousands of troops to its Eastern flank in the wake of Russia’s invasion to counter the threat of any spillover from the conflict into allied countries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose country is not in NATO, is set to appeal for more weapons and greater intervention in a video address to leaders as he seeks to cajole the West into a tougher response.

“We are waiting for meaningful steps. From NATO, the EU and the G7,” Zelensky said ahead of the day of summits of all three organisations in Brussels.

“At these three summits, we will see: who is a friend, who is a partner, and who betrayed us for money. Life can be defended only when united,” he added.

NATO leaders are vowing to bolster weapons deliveries to non-member Ukraine and supply protection against chemical and nuclear threats from Russia.

But the alliance has rebuffed pleas from Kyiv to impose a no-fly zone to help halt Russia’s onslaught for fear of getting dragged into a “full-fledged” conflict with Moscow.

“We have a responsibility to ensure that this conflict does not escalate beyond Ukraine that will cause even more sufferings, even more deaths, even more destructions,” Stoltenberg said.

US President Joe Biden warned before heading to Europe of a “real threat” that the Kremlin could use chemical weapons in Ukraine.

Stoltenberg told journalists that “any use of chemical weapons would fundamentally change the nature of the conflict”.

“It will be a blatant violation of international law, and it will have widespread and severe consequences,” the NATO boss stressed.

Read about Russification of eastern Ukraine and Crimea during Soviet and empire era you would understand what is going on.
That hausa speakers or natives in Jos north does not mean it doesn't belong to Berom people.
That yorubas are majority in some towns in Benin Republic doesn't mean Nigeria should start to claim those towns.
That Russian speakers are majority in some cities in eastern and crimea doesn't not mean it belong to Russia.

Can u tell why Russia government fought against chechen separatists who declared independence from Russia. Are chechen people Russians?

Are u saying if Nigeria removed English as official language, UK will attack us?

Ukraine is not Russia.

These scenario you're mentioning are different...

Assuming Yoruba is a country on it own, it has every right to defend it fellow ethnics in a nearby countries if face with death/extermination just as ethnic Russians are being killed in Donbass region...

Just like saying Asaba does not belong to Igbo because it's not in South East. Mind you I'm not an Igbo.

Lastly is English a major ethnic in Nigeria just like Russian in Ukraine??

The comparison of Nigeria/British to Russia/Ukraine is faulty and not worth consideration.

Let us take it this way;
Assuming Nigeria is divided into three countries, let say Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa, then Okun and Kwara state( majorly Yoruba) fall under Hausa just as it's under northern Nigeria now.

Then a Hausa (as a country) president from the Okun/Kwara side was toppled by the Hausa with aid and backing from the west and his people(Yoruba) language was removed as one of the two major language, what do you expect them to do (Okun/Kwara)??.

Yeah, Okun/Kwara (Yoruba) declare independence but Hausa (declare war on them) and has been killing them since 2014 with more than 14000 dead.

Do you expect Yoruba to keep looking and let Hausa continue decimating his people in their country??

Answer me with truth, I don't emotion bla bla....

Another excuse is an Ukrainian revolution that overthrown pro- Russia government angered putin. I believe Putin could have exercised patience and sponsor another pro- Russian government.

The west sponsor a regime change by deposing a president who happen to come from eastern Ukraine( majorly ethnic Russian) in 2014 and installing theirs. They even remove Russia language from the official two language.

Due to this the Eastern region of Donbass which are majorly Russian speaking declared a breakaway state but Ukraine has been killing and bombing them since 2014 killing more than 14000 ethnic Russian.

Russia annex Crimea majorly ethnic Russian due to this singular act.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Why Can't Ukraine Join Nato ? by Botlord: 8:38am On Mar 24, 2022
ademobi:
Ukraine conflict: What is Nato and how has it responded to Russia's invasion?

Nato leaders are expected to approve major increases in its forces in eastern Europe to counter Russia's invasion of Ukraine at a special summit.

Member states including Britain are already sending weapons to Ukraine.

Russia has put its nuclear forces on "special alert in response to what it calls Nato's aggression.
What is Nato?

Nato - the North Atlantic Treaty Organization - is a military alliance formed in 1949 by 12 countries, including the US, Canada, the UK and France.

Members agree to come to one another's aid in the event of an armed attack against any one member state.

Its aim was originally to counter the threat of post-war Russian expansion in Europe.

In 1955 Soviet Russia responded to Nato by creating its own military alliance of eastern European communist countries, called the Warsaw Pact.

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, a number of former Warsaw Pact countries switched sides and became Nato members. The alliance now has 30 members.

Why isn't Ukraine a Nato member?

Nato originally offered Ukraine eventual membership back in 2008, and after Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014, Ukraine made joining Nato a priority.

But this hasn't happened, mainly because of Russia's long-standing opposition to such a move.

Russia fears Nato is encroaching on its territory by taking on new members in eastern Europe, and that admitting Ukraine would bring Nato forces into its backyard.

Ukraine's President Zelensky has now accepted his country can't join Nato at present, saying: "It is clear that Ukraine is not a member of Nato. We understand this."

The UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson made the same point, saying, "There is no way Ukraine is going to join Nato any time soon".

One of Russia's demands before the invasion was that Ukraine should never be allowed to join - something the alliance had refused to support.

Why isn't Nato sending troops to Ukraine?

Because Ukraine isn't a Nato member, the alliance isn't obliged to come to the country's defence.

Nato countries fear that if their troops confront Russian forces in Ukraine, it could lead to an all-out conflict between Russia and the west.

Secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg says Nato members are "determined to do all we can to support Ukraine," but that they also have a "responsibility" to ensure the war doesn't escalate beyond its borders.

This is why Nato rejected imposing a no-fly zone over Ukraine.

However, Mr Stoltenberg said leaders would agree to send four new battlegroups to Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania, doubling the alliance's presence in the region.

He also said that Russia must stop "nuclear sabre-rattling", describing its comments on the use of such weapons as "dangerous and irresponsible".

How is the West helping Ukraine?

Several Nato nations have been sending weapons to Ukraine to help its defend itself against Russia.

The US has been the biggest supplier of military equipment. It initially sent $200m (£152m) and then a further $350m (£267m) of weapons. This included hand-held Javelin anti-tank missiles, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles and body armour.

The US has now expanded this and announced a $1bn (£760m) security aid package. This will include the deployment of more sophisticated longer-range weapons and drones to Ukraine,

It has also allowed other Nato countries to supply Ukraine with US-made weapons.

The EU has said it will spend up to 450m euros (£376m) to fund the supply of weapons to Ukraine. It is the first time in its history that the EU has helped provide arms for a warzone.

Germany, too, has dropped its long-standing restrictions on supplying weapons to a combat area.

Britain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia are among those Nato members which are also sending military equipment - including anti-tank weapons, anti-aircraft missiles, ammunition, fuel, helmets, body armour and rations.

How many troops does Nato have in Eastern Europe?

Nato already has troops stretching from the Baltic republics in the north to Romania in the south and now deploying more forces.

They were stationed there in 2014 after Russia's annexation of Crimea and are designed to act as a "tripwire" in case of a Russian attack.

Nato is now sending elements of its 40,000-strong Response Force to Eastern European countries bordering Russia and Ukraine.

It has 100 fighter jets on high alert and 120 ships, including three carrier groups, patrolling the seas from the far north to the eastern Mediterranean.

"We will defend every ally and every inch of Nato territory," said alliance secretary-general, Jens Stoltenberg
