Streetinvestor2: bovali: bovali: bovali:The difference between me and you is that I have no emotional attachment to any stock. Show your workings. My history is here in this thread. You cannot put words into my mouth. I am extremely objective. Let Oando close above 16 Naira first. Till then, it will continue moving sideways. See my trades from last quarter. I exited at 15 and entered other stocks that are now rallying as you can see from the portfolio I posted, while oando has not moved once

lolly24000:What’s the mileage? |
sky2891:No statements till September. Stock will be in limbo till then. Good luck to the gamblers, we will rejoin you at 9-10 Naira. Looking forward to how the market reacts tomorrow, particularly JSE |
Payunsin:Acquisition that’s been priced in since |
Lexzokomo:Simple answer: yes. And don’t worry, you’re not bothering me. All of us are constantly learning. Imagine you have money to buy 10 chocolates. Your friend offers to lend you enough money to buy up to 100 chocolates. This means you have high leverage. High Leverage: • You can borrow a lot of money to trade more chocolates. Smaller Lots: • Even though you have the option to buy up to 100 chocolates (because of high leverage), you can choose to trade smaller lots, like 10 or 20 chocolates. So, you have a choice: • You can use the high leverage to buy a large number of chocolates, like 100. • Or, you can decide to buy smaller amounts, like 10 or 20 chocolates, even though you have the ability to buy more. This means you are using the high leverage to have the option to trade big, but you are choosing to trade smaller amounts. In summary: • High leverage gives you the power to trade large amounts. • You can still decide to trade smaller lots, even with high leverage. Side note: if you’re referring to forex trading, that why they give you the option to set your leverage ratio. Default is usually 500:1. If you’re referring to structured leverage (investment banking), you can apply for let’s say 20m leverage and get it approved but you only get charged for what you drawdown(actually use). |
Lexzokomo:No, leverage in simple terms is debt. Now, imagine you want to buy 100 chocolates, but you only have enough money for 10 chocolates. Your friend offers to lend you the money to buy the remaining 90 chocolates. This is called "leverage." Leverage means borrowing money to trade more chocolates than you could with just your own money. So, with leverage: If you have money for 10 chocolates and your friend lends you enough to buy 100 chocolates, you are using leverage to trade more chocolates. In summary: Lot size is the number of chocolates you trade at once. Leverage is borrowing money to trade more chocolates than you could with just your own money. Also to add, that's why you get charged for holding positions overnight that were bought using leverage |
yMcy56:I also noticed a lot of them are mostly making investment income and are moving into the asset management space. Thanks for the clarification |
vacanci:This is what he said in simple terms. OGG please correct me if i assumed any incorrectly: Analyzing Trends and Using Tools: Look at how prices have moved in the past and where they have temporarily stopped and then continued in the same direction (retracement zones). Use the Dynamic Financial Trend System (DFTS) to analyze these trends effectively. You'll see that the point you mentioned (WTF - Watch This Factor) is also showing a trend direction. Use indicators like the Stochastic Oscillator or the Williams %R (W%R) to measure the speed and strength of price movements and get hints about future prices. Another method to study price patterns, called wave analysis, can also give you clues. When doing technical analysis (TA), explore different parts of the chart to understand it better. Price Predictions: The part in italics indicates strong evidence (Price Volume Analysis - PVA) showing that the price of the stock DS will probably not reach N32-33. The likelihood of this happening has decreased recently (referring to the WTF and PVA). That price range is not a strong support level (a level where the price typically stops falling). It’s not a key level (KL) or a psychological level (PSL) either. Unlikely Scenarios: For the price to reach that range, something significant must happen in a different timeframe (Multiple Time Frame - MTF). This would change the company’s long-term structure. The only way the price will drop that much is if the company has a very bad financial report for the second quarter or half-year (Q2/H1) or if there’s a negative event in the sector. Opportunities and Risks: With the stock DS, some people will see an opportunity to invest and benefit greatly over time. Others might panic and sell, only to regret it later. Lexzokomo:That is know as a lot size. Imagine you have a big box of chocolates. When you want to sell or buy chocolates with your friends, you don't just trade one piece at a time. Instead, you agree to trade a group of chocolates all at once, like a bundle of 10 chocolates. In trading, a "lot size" is like that bundle of chocolates. It's a way of grouping things together so you don't trade just one thing at a time. For example: Standard Lot: This is like trading 100,000 chocolates all at once. It's a big bundle. Mini Lot: This is like trading 10,000 chocolates. It's a smaller bundle than a standard lot. Micro Lot: This is like trading 1,000 chocolates. Even smaller. Nano Lot: This is like trading 100 chocolates. The smallest bundle. When traders talk about lot sizes, they're talking about how many units of something they are trading all at once. It makes it easier to manage and understand how much is being traded. So that 0.01 is like a nano lot |
yMcy56:I’m guessing unlike banks, insurance can pay dividends from FX gain, correct? Although it’s mostly cash and bonds as at dec 23

This is very reassuring for me: https://x.com/thetope_ajayi/status/1807872149517947069?s=46&t=S-fB0C8yRxjxeCDpRFi4rw |
Omooloriredade:I understand, but for rental income to increase you need more equipment to rent out. I didn’t see where they bought more PPE for this. So what are the prospects for revenue improvement? What is their path to profitability? If the private placement goes well, from current prices that’s a 25% return to 2.5 but if it doesn’t go well and it drops to 1 Naira that’s a 50% loss. From a risk to reward perspective, I wouldn’t come near it |
Agbalowomeri:Let me explain what I mean by rebalancing. So last quarter I got into oando end of q1 and that was my best return (40%) so I sold to buy things that are yet to move up which you can see in my current portfolio. But if at the end of q3, any of them are above 40% and there are some that are still stagnant and haven’t moved, I would sell that 40% to buy more of the stagnant one (that is after I do dd to ensure I still maintain the same view on the stock). And if I’m rebalancing at the end of q3 and see that stocks like oando retraced back to 10-11, I will buy again. Truth is, opportunities will always come so I don’t have any attachment to any stock |
Mankind2024:I have an exposure of 90k usd in the S&P 500 index. I split my assets 60/40 between Naira and dollar. So everytime I get some funds I just convert to usd and add to the s&p500. There’s an options model I use to help time entries better and it’s been 85% accurate so far |

Streetinvestor2:In my opinion, it’s managed very efficiently, similar to gtb. If they do reconstruction I’ll be happy, although I don’t think it’s needed at this time. Their PE is very low compared to peers, they make bastard revenue and their net profit is more than its market cap with a Q1’24 eps of 24 kobo. I’m also expecting some dividends (5%) in less than one month of holding. I can go on and on but you get the gist |
emmanuelewumi:Everything there was bought last month. Just did rebalancing for q3. Once q3 is ending I will rebalance again |
Streetinvestor2:I believe women in finance have more money than our male counterparts in Nigeria cause men don't let us spend our own money. Even the car I'm driving, no be me buy am ![]() |
Streetinvestor2:Those are my calls for Q3, some of them haven't moved in price, so its still possible to get similar or even better entry. I'm particularly bullish on AIICO. Both on TA and fundamentals |
I think I'm gonna be posting a snapshot of my portfolio at the start of each quarter cause that was the second b2b quarter of 40%+ returns. Also because streetinvestor is always mocking me for not dropping advise. That being said, i will never recommend anyone to invest in what i don't have stake in. DD advised as always. Side note: I'm still upcoming so don't laugh at my portfolio. I have 45m in cash that i will use to average down if needed.

Q2 official exchange gain of 6%. For those that monitor FX gain in FS like me
|
Omooloriredade:Don't worry, like i said earlier, i will not speak on Oando again. But this Japaul, I hope its not this equipment rental that you are looking at as long term revenue? Okay o. DD advised as always

Streetinvestor2:I stated a fact but no wahala, if i see anything misleading i will just keep my mouth shut. |
Streetinvestor2:I don't think i have attacked or insulted anyone since i joined. I just provide my perspective as i see it from my own point of view. This is a forum after all. So lets be objective in our thinking please |
vacanci:I swear lmao. Until that thing closes above 16 Naira, all this one is just story. Even the first link he used as reference, oando was 14.6 Naira in September 2023. Today it’s is 15 Naira. Almost one year after. Abeggi |
megawealth01:That’s my whole point. Cause even if you inject 3 trillion today, they will still find a way to make loss. It’s mind boggling |
Jaakay:This is as high level as i can make it to keep it brief. All i'll say is when you invest, think to yourself if wale tinubu is someone you can trust with your money. Cause with oando, you're betting on the person running it to succeed. The whole of 2023, and only one profitable quarter. In Q2 they had an FX gain of 258bn, hence the 140bn profit for the period. Then guess what happened in Q4? Another 377bn in FX gain but this time they lost 70bn for the period. How do you make less with more? Don't ask me further questions because everything is in public space for all to see and analyse. Your own DD is advised.

KarlTom:They no gree let Dangcem drop o
|
yMcy56:Been quiet about Oando, but I don’t think people really looked into their books. But I’ll leave that conversation for another day |
nosa2:If they raise dollar for expansion, is it Naira they will use to buy the banks in other countries? Why do you think they said don’t pay any profit from dollar revaluation gains? A lot of these banks are still sitting on usd. And the revenue they make in other countries is repatriated in usd |
BabsO2:Don’t underestimate their expansion. I remember when UBA was doing its west African expansion, now they bring a chunk of the groups revenue. Also remember that access bank bought some of these outside banks at a discount I.e from atlas Mara. Don’t also forget that they now sit on arm pensions as a group. Isn’t that the second largest pension at the time? I think it’s grossly undervalued in my opinion |
BullBearMkt:So did they allow minority join then adjourn or they just adjourned everything completely |
