  Wendall Parson picked up a US$50,000 cash gift from President Robert Mugabe at State House on Thursday, while Vimbai Mutinhiri, evicted from the show in the penultimate week, received US$10,000.

Rapper Lil Wayne faces a $15 million legal battle over allegations he stole the hit song "Bedrock."Georgia-based production company Done Deal Enterprises is suing Wayne, Universal Music group ,Cash Money records and Young Money Entertainment for copyright infringement.

Lawyers for the rapper and representatives for Universal Music didn't return a request for comment Thursday. Lil Wayne has been ordered to appear in court Oct. 12.The song, which featured appearances by Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lloyd, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was on the compilation 2010 CD "We Are Young Money.

Manchester United keeper and former Dutch international Edwin van der Sar ended his professional playing career at Amsterdam's Arena stadium on Wednesday with a long line-up of star players turning up for two testimonial matches in front of 53,000 fans.

      The first match featured two teams which van der Sar played for - Ajax and Orange.Nigeria's Kanu nwankwo  and finidi George ,Patrick Kluivert, Marc Overmars, Frank Rijkaard, Frank de Boer and his brother Ronald, represented Ajax while Bergkamp and Giovanni van Bronckhorst were among the former internationals to put on orange shirts again.
       Later, Van der Sar's Dream Team included Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Dirk Kuyt, Edgar Davids, Rio Ferdinand and Dennis Bergkamp, played for an hour against Dutch league champions Ajax. The dream team won 1-0.
    Kanu was especially impressive in the game with his customary flicks, tricks and close control which almost resulted in a brilliant goal midway into the second half.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp have topped a list of Hollywood's highest-earning actors, according to Forbes.com.

    The pair earned $77 million (£47m) and $50 million (£30m) respectively to the year ending on 1 May.
Comedian Adam Sandler, who earned $40m (£24m), captured third spot while Will Smith and Tom Hanks were close behind, making $36m (£22m) and $35m (£21m).

A week-long burial programme has been announced for Nigeria’s Lady of Songs, Christy Essien-Igbokwe, who died on June 30.

Events lined up to celebrate the life of the singer and actress will hold from September 3 to 11 in Lagos.
Head of the burial committee, Austin Izagbo, disclosed the activities at a press conference held at Niteshift Coliseum, Opebi, Lagos on Tuesday, August 2.
He disclosed that the burial will start with a two-part ‘Football Match of Stars’ on Saturday, September 3.


The first soccer game will be between music figures and Nollywood stars; while the second will between members of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and entertainment writers at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, by 2pm of the same day.
A Christy Essien-Igbokwe memorial symposium titled ‘The Artist in the Socio-Political Development of a Nation’ will hold at the National Theatre, Lagos, on Monday, September 5, by 10am.

It is being reported that the highly-rated BET Show, “The Mo’nique Show” has been canceled by BET network.
      The Atlanta Journal-Constitution confirms this, saying that they were told that the show has been put on “indefinite hiatus,”.Ratings didn’t seem to be a problem, as the show consistently carried over half a million viewers every night.  But there are conflicting reports regarding whether the cancelation was due to financial concerns or creative differences between Mo’Nique and BET Management.

Gunmen numbering five yesterday stormed the home of Ajegunle Soldier, John Odafe Asiemo otherwise known as Daddy Showkey and killed one of his aides named Wale Suraj.
       
       The gunmen arrived the Bola Street, Victory Estate home of Showkey at about 1.30pm, on a motor bike otherwise known as okada, and gained entrance through the main gate when Showkey’s first son, Raymond Asiemo, who went on an errand, was about entering the house.

     On arrival they were said to have asked the 14-year old Raymond for the owner of the house, at gun point and the boy told them that the house is an uncompleted building and that some people are working inside the building.Sources said Raymond went inside the building to inform Wale and one other person who were doing some renovation work inside the main building.
