Wow that's good. Never knew. Except all these Chinese organizations here in Nigeria who calculate hours and pay their workers based on the number of hours worked.

Given the prevailing economic challenges bedeviling the country and the rising costs of goods and essential services, Salaries have become increasingly insufficient and can no longer meet up with our daily transactional needs.
Most workers spend almost half or even more of their salaries on just transportation. Then you look at food and water consumption while at work. These are daily needs which are very essential for survival.
If workers have to wait for a whole 28-30 days to receive their paltry salaries, they would end up running into lots of debts because at a point, they will exhaust their salaries and resort to borrowing to enable their transportation. This is why I feel it is better salaries are paid twice in a month than once in a month, as this will help alleviate the plight of manner workers. Though it shouldn't be mandatory for all workers. It should rather be optional. This is because some workers already have other sources of income and can easily transport themselves to work even if salaries aren't paid for many months.
Remember, in most European countries and even South America and Asia, this is the method of payment that is adopted. Some are even paid hourly, daily and weekly. Most organizations don't wait till month end to pay their staff members.
Workers can get 50% of their salaries every two weeks or 25% every week.

It depends on the kind of Church you attend and most especially, the calibre of people prevalent in that society. For instance in the Catholic Church, there are Societies and groups that assist.
Most of the ills you mentioned in your post are prevalent in the protestant churches.
Everyone has their personal reasons for going to church tho. Perhaps their reason was to show off and gist
