Uche Mefor, estranged Deputy-Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Tuesday said that he has already withdrawn his blessings in relation to the outlawed group, hence it is “cursed”. Mefor is the Head of Information and Communication of the new Customary Government of Biafra. He fell out with Kanu last year after disagreeing with him on the modus operandi of controversial IPOB. He teamed up with Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, a former Niger Delta militant leader, to pursue the Biafra agenda. Both men have since been rugby-tackling now-incarcerated Kanu. The teeming IPOB supporters have always sided with Kanu though. “AS A PILLAR AND FOUNDING MEMBER WHO HELPED MADE IT THE PHENOMENON IT WAS, MY BLESSINGS ARE ALREADY WITHDRAWN AND IPOB AS AN ORGANISATION AND MOVEMENT ALREADY CURSED THAT YOU MAY KNOW THAT TREACHERY AND DESECRATION OF THE LAND DO NOT PAY AND THAT THERE IS A SUPREME BEING IN CHARGE OF THE AFFAIRS OF MEN AND IN CONTROL OF THE UNIVERSE . FORGET ALL THE SHENANIGANS, IN FULLNESS OF TIME, YOU SHALL REALISE THE IMPORT OF THIS ASSERTION,” Mefor wrote on his known Facebook page. The 46-year-old nightlife promoter has become a viral sensation since the burial of his mother, who died in December last year. In an interview with BBC Pidgin, the entrepreneur said he and his siblings had earlier promised to celebrate the deceased in grand style when she clocks 80. He said contrary to the plan, his mother passed on before the age of 80, prompting him and his siblings to channel their initial energy for her birthday into giving her a befitting burial. “My mother’s burial was like that because we had already promised her that whenever she clocks 80, we’ll organise a unique carnival, which is the first of its kind in the world, to celebrate her,” he said. “We joked about it and agreed. But thereafter, she died before she clocked 80. Due to that, we dissipated all our energy and initial plans to celebrate her 80th birthday into organising a befitting burial for her. That’s why it is the talk of the town. “This year (2021) makes it 15 years that our father passed away. After my father’s death, we gave our mother all the love because she was always there for us. She was the one playing the role of a father and mother for us before her death. “Whenever you visit her, she must pray for you before leaving. Even in your absence, she still prays for you, so when she died, it was as if they collected part of my energy.” ‘It’s a show of love’ — Obi Cubana defends ‘naira rain’ at the funeral In the interview, Obi Cubana also dismissed criticisms trailing the spraying of naira notes at his mother’s burial. The entrepreneur, whose real name is Obinna Iyiegbu, argued that no one should decide for his guests how to spend the money they worked for. “How would I have arranged for people to come to the event and spray money. Is it to bathe with it? The money belongs to them, so it is their choice to spend it anyhow they like,” he said. “All those that came for the burial are bigwigs across various industries, so they’re basically there to show love for my family. Some of them were my friends and colleagues from school several years back. “Therefore, the burial offered them the platform to come and show their love and support. That’s what happened that day.” See Also, Apply for: Npower Recruitment www-cbn-gov-ng/">CBN Recruitment FRSC Recruitment Nigeria Customs Service Recruitment Coca Cola Nigeria Recruitment Nigerian Air Force Recruitment Nigerian Navy Recruitment Obi Cubana also called out those questioning his open display of wealth at his mother’s burial, explaining that such people are only envious of others’ progress. “I don’t have time for people who want to tell me how to spend the money that I made through my own efforts. It’s waste of time replying to such people. They’re only criticising me because they don’t want others to succeed,” he said. “We didn’t plan it (the burial) this way. It’s not about money. Money couldn’t have gotten us such a huge crowd, it was out of the goodwill that I enjoy from the public.” How I made my first N1 million On how he made his first one million naira, Obi Cubana said: “After undergoing my compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in Abuja, I started searching for a job all to no avail. “That made me start some small jobs and from there I became a real estate agent. I usually get five percent of every task that is successfully executed. It was along the line that I and my colleagues met a man who asked us to help him furnish his house. “We did it very well that he gave me N500,000 separately from the profit of N600,000 which I also made from the deal. That made it N1.1 million in total. It was after my NYSC that I made my first one million naira.” Click Here For Full Video |

The Rivers State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has disclosed that 22 doctors in the state tested positive for coronavirus. The association, which decried lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for their members fighting the virus, said 60 other health workers also tested positive for COVID-19. NMA, therefore, called on the state to urgently take an upward review of the hazard allowances paid to doctors under the state government employment. The state’s chairperson of NMA, Dr. Obelebra Adebiyi, who spoke Port Harcourt reeled out challenges faced by health workers in the state. Adebiyi said that despite efforts of the government in containing the spread of the virus, the state was till recording high number of cases. She said health workers in the state were compelled to provide PPEs for themselves and commended doctors practicing in the state for maintaining good professional conduct, despite the challenges. Adebiyi said: “The number of cases in Rivers state moved from zero, in less than 8 weeks, to about 450 confirmed cases with 21 deaths. This is really a worrisome situation. “More worrisome to us is the rising cases of infection among health workers. Currently 22 doctors and over 60 health workers have been confirmed positive and are receiving treatment across different isolation centers in the state. “The state has also recorded death of a health worker through coronavirus. This clearly calls for more action from the government, the heads of government and private health facilities in the state, and indeed the general public. “Health workers in public hospitals are left to provide personal protective equipment for themselves. Government must provide PPEs for all health workers in public and private hospital. “When health workers are unprotected, the risk for infection rises significantly and our collective effort to fight the pandemic is greatly hampered. This is another issue that must be ungently addressed if we will make progress in our fight against COVID-19.” |

The United Nations has completed plans to carve out a new territory from Nigeria and Republic of Cameroon by July 10. The creation of the new territory to be known as United Nations Organisation(UNO) State of Cameroon may see Nigeria losing 24 local councils, by way of ceding, to the new country. Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Paul Biya of Cameroon, on the invitation of the then UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, had in March 2003 signed documents to cede their disputed territories (Northern and Southern Cameroons) to the proposed UNO new country in West and Central Africa. According to a report in a national daily, the new state will have a total landmass of 28, 214 square km, with an estimated population of 20 million people. This was disclosed in a May 26, 2020 letter on the UNO State of Cameroon by Prof. Martins Chia Ateh, the United Nations-appointed workshops coordinator in Cameroon and Nigeria, according to the report. The report also noted that the recent withdrawal of troops by President Paul Biya from the southern part of the planned UNO State of Cameroon, which was said to have been formally demanded by the former President of the United Nations General Assembly, Ali Treki, on May 20, set the stage for the creation of the new state being spearheaded by the UN. Quoting the letter, the report said Ateh wrote: “Greetings and thank you very much for the attached list of those who were detained in the Nkambe prison of Cameroon in August 2008.... The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi at the weekend urged the new board of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to ensure the completion of the deep blue project. The maritime security project, also known as the Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure, is designed to comprehensively tackle insecurity on Nigeria’s territorial waters and Exclusive Economic Zone, up to the Gulf of Guinea. Amaechi, who spoke during the inauguration of the new board in Abuja, said the project was critical to maritime security in Nigeria and the entire West and Central Africa region. He about 60 per cent of the project’s cost had been paid by the Federal Government. The minister urged the management and board to “go and complete the Deep Blue Project,” arguing that the success of NIMASA is to a great extent, dependent on completion of the project. Chairman of the Board, Hon Asita O. Asita, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the honour bestowed on them. Asita pledged to work harmoniously with the NIMASA management to deliver the agency’s mandate. “If we must trade as a country, we need the waterways to be safe,” he said, adding that the security of the maritime domain was of utmost importance to the country. He said NIMASA cannot afford to play with the issues of safety and security. Other members of the 10-member board are its Director-General, Dr. Bashir Jamoh; Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services, Victor Ochei; Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Hon. Chudi Offodile; and Executive Director, Operations, Shehu Ahmed. CLICK on News crystal for more news |
