RoyalRoy: So, how do you react to the fact that each time I check my balance, it shows that I am still on the TRUTALK plan while they had migrated me another plan which I only discovered a few days ago. I checked my phone a few minutes ago and it still shows I am on TRUTALK. |

Phones / RED ALERT! MTN Is Silently Reaping Off Nigerians. Share Your Expereinces Too! by Brains1313(m): 3:46pm On Mar 10, 2016 |
Hello guys! I wish to bring to the notice of fellowl Nairalanders about the dubious activities of MTN in randomly deducting more than the used amount per call from their unsuspecting customers. I have repeatedly observed for some time now that MTN has been charging me far more than the duration used during most calls. Yesterday, I made a call for 68 seconds which was supposed to cost N7.48 at 11kobo per second. But instead MTN deducted the sum of N27.20K from my account. When I called their Customer Care Unit (180), I was told I had been migrated from Trutalk Plus (without informing me) to a different plan which is 20k per second. Now if you calculate 68 seconds by 20k per second (68 x 0.20K), you will get a total of N13.60. What a RIP OFF! Interestingly, the Customer Care official apologized and confirmed they actually over charged me. So, instead of deducting N13.60, they had deducted more than N27 which is 100%. I was so angry that I told them a piece of my mind. Thereafter, they repeatedly apologized and promised to refund the difference (N13.60) back to my account within 24 hours. SAME THING HAPPENED TODAY! By the time I made my second or third call today, I discovered they had cheated me again. This was what happened. I made a call for 317 secs and they deducted N126.80. Now if you multiply 317 by 20Kobo (317 x 0.20k), you will get a total of N63.40K. This means they charged me N63.40 extra (100%). In my opinion, MTN has set their system on autopilot to randomly make extra deductions from users of their network without the users knowing it. This is PURE FRAUD. Imagine deducting 10kobo from over 50 million lines every hour for one month. I want to use this Platform to implore Nigerians to calculate the actual amount used after each call because MTN is set to recoup the NCC fine from you and I. On the other hand, if you had similar experience, kindly tell us about it. Nigerians beware! God bless Nigeria. 1 Like |

The number one reason why most people get scammed is due to SELF GREED. ======== I am not in a position to say this is scam but listed below are some of my observations; 1: HIS SPECIALITY (I checked his signature and discovered that he deals mostly on jewellery). 2: THE NETWORTH: (with a N70,000 net worth, I begin to feel uncomfortable because jewellery business is an expensive one.) 3: JACK OF ALL TRADES: (He started this thread with N30, 000 for tablet pc, but he has suddenly become a jack of all trades who now sells everything). 4: NO PHYSICAL LOCATION: (He keeps saying he lives in Ogun state without any physical location. Ogun State is a large state and he has not even told us if he lives at Abeokuta, Sango etc. There should be a physical address to backup his business whether it's from his house or office). 5. NO OVER HEAD COST: (He keeps talking about 50/50 profit sharing ratio, but he is not talking about the ACTUAL cost that will be incurred from the point of sourcing the materials to the point of selling them, before sharing the profit). 6: PAYMENT INTO AGENCY ACCOUNT: (In one of his post, he stated that he wanted his clients to pay into an agency account because he does not want to spend the money. And this makes me to ask, 'why should I trust his agent if he does not trust himself?'). 7: SIMILAR THREADS ONGOING: (I also observed that his other threads are towing the same line. There is even one where he talked about investing N50, 000 to gain 100% profit. And this gives me serious concern). MY CONCLUSION: While his intention maybe genuine, there are too many loose ends in this mode of operations. And (like wwwkaycom), I want to watch from the sidelines. 1 Like |

HE NEVER DESERVED YOU TITI. Tears embrace my eyes for you Titi. But you need not hold yesterday in self pity. Dust yourself from the agony and henceforth decree, You shall unite with happiness in due season. From the onset he was not worth your prize. In retrospect you’ll see the red flags standing high. Never he was in shining amour of a night. A fool he was that abused your innocence and time. Turn on the shower and wash his prints away. True love unrefined ahead still lay. Soon to touch you as tender rose of a new day. In undiluted fragrance of a blissful spray. In retrospect you’ll look back and say. What fool I was to have fallen pray? To that savagery imposter with no grace. With smiles knowing fate’s ugly side brings in gain. NOTE: Dedicated to Titi and all those ladies who genuinely loved and gave their best, but were treated like garbage. @Sinie Tell Titi to open her INNER eyes and ears, she’ll soon find happiness in true colours. 1 Like |
Webmasters / Web Presence Vs Web Identity. Is There Any Difference? by Brains1313(m): 5:05am On Feb 26, 2013 |
For years I have listened and watched certain ICT experts on radio and television tell their listeners and viewers that once a website is designed and uploaded to the server (Internet), such website instantly gains web presence. That statement is based on either absolute ignorance or deliberate lies and sensationalism designed to mislead potential netprenuers (Internet Entrepreneurs) while those so-called experts smile to the banks. The truth of the matter is that having web presence goes beyond having a website. The Recurring Decimal. I and my team have had the privilege of being involved in several web projects in the past till date, and one major experience we have repeatedly have is that if a client does not call within the first six months to lay complain(s) about the website, it means such client does not make use of the site regularly. Such client will most likely never renew the domain and hosting. When asked why they are not interested in the renewal, the answer had always been, ‘I did not make money from the website. So, why should I waste more money for another renewal?’ Ignorance! Ignorance! Ignorance! And that unfortunately, ends the possibility of a potentially successful business on the Internet. Funny enough, some aspiring Netpreneurs ignorantly assume it is the responsibility of the website designer to generate sales for them. And so, they direct their disappointments and frustrations at their website designers. But in reality, they (the site owners) should be held responsible for their failures. The irony of the situation is that if having a website is all you need to gain web presence, then every website should instantly become successful without sweat after upload. The bitter truth is that, more and more websites are dying daily due to ignorance, lack of drive and willingness to do what is right because of the quick fix mentality. Now this brings me to the ultimate question I am constantly asked in recent times. Which is, ‘is there any difference between web identity and web presence?’ The answer is a capital, YES! And in a lay man’s term I’ll define them as follow; What Is Web Identity? This is simply the state where a website is designed and uploaded to the Internet. Whether it is promoted or not, whether an activity takes place or not, each time the name of the website is typed in to the web browser or search engine, it will naturally load information from the site. But if nobody knows of its existence within the niche industry the website is supposed to serve, in plain and simple language that website is already dead from day one. What Is Web Presence? This stage goes beyond just designing and uploading the website. It is state where a website becomes well known to majority of the people it has been designed to service. What this implies is that the website has gotten so popular to its targeted audience (niche) that, it constantly attracts visitors day in, day out. That is, whenever they need information about any subject or niche, they know where to rush to online. Some of the websites that could be said to have web presence are; http://www.nairaland.com http://www.vanguardngr.com http://www.vconnect.com http://www.wakanow.com etc Now, lets play a simple game. If I mention; Nairaland –You know it is a complete interactive community covering several subjects for Nigerians scattered all over the globe. Vconnect –Nigeria’s leading search engine website owned by Indians Wakanow. –Those who use it know it is for special deals on travels. At this juncture, it is important to emphasis that no website can become successful online without first having web presence (quality traffic). Web presence therefore, is the foundation and key to the financial prosperity of any website. Another important question that should be asked is, ‘how does a website achieve web presence?’ There are several factors which must be implemented religiously before a website can be said to have web presence. Some of such factors are; Regular keyword research. Search engine optimization (on-page and off-page) which must be ongoing. Regular and aggressive content update Continuous and aggressive marketing (off/online) efforts at increasing traffic. Knowing when to outsource. Setting up a functional structure. Patience, in waiting for results. And much more However, it is important for you to bear in mind that there is no short cut to having web presence. There are lots of works to be done. It is either you roll up your sleeves and be willing to pay the price, or get burnt being mesmerized by the hypes. See you at the top. 1 Like |
Programming / Re: I Want To Learn Programming. Which Language Should I Start With? by Brains1313(m): 12:44pm On Feb 25, 2013 |
@Javinian, It is believed that this class (thread) was intended for newbies. But in my humble opinion I see it as an error to have thrown the class open to every Tom, Tony and Harry. In a situation where everyone is trying to be a MASTER here, the end result might be chaos and the situation might get out of control. In the light of the foregoing, I hereby suggest as follows: 1. The tutorials should be limited to only the highlighted programs in your introduction. 2. The teachers in this class room (thread) should not be more than 5 experts. 3. The newbies like myself should nominate 4 other teachers (experts) to join your team. And if they are more, you will have the prerogative to select from the nominated list. *To start with I nominate, 'WhiZTiM'. 4. I feel we should also have a dictionary section where certain terminology will be explained. While my suggestio may not be the best or go down well with all, I simply look forward to more focussed lectures. Remember, every class has its syllabus. You guys are doing a great job. 6 Likes |

I was enjoying the thread until some peep came and start arguing which lang. is better leaving us confused.there are questn above whch answers wher not given. I agree with you to an extent. There is a saying that, "too many cooks spoil the broth". Meaning: advise from too people will only get newbies more confused. My advise to you is: listen to Javanian and two or three othersn then close your ears to others. However, I feel the quote below might be helpful. Afam4eva: Can a forum ever be the most visited website in the world? I must commend Nairaland for attaining this level of success with just one product. Imagine if nairaland adds new products. What will happen then? It does not matter if it is a blog, forum or website. What matters is to keep the traffic flowing. And the ranking will continue to increase. I look for to Nairaland branded products (not chinko) like T-shirts etc. |
