1) You don't go out when it's getting dark (or before the Sun rises) on a lonely road/area, especially women...She should have been escorted by her boyfriend/somebody to the busstop;

It's okay to feel this way at times. I have done this in the past. Did I regret it no.
My planned was to go off for two months, but after like a month and some days, I could not continue. So I unblocked every one and reconnected back . If staying off from them for a while will help you to heal, please go ahead. Your mental health is paramount.

I can relate with similar incident in Jan this year. I had a work appointment with a man and was to turn up early monday morning. As i was moving to the Loc around 5am some 3 guys on okada cornered me, their daggers were so long, i percieved they were northerners. Personally my instinct was to react violently in such situation but that day, God took control of my emotion. I said, “abeg i get money, i no want whahala, i get money”. Immediately i gave them the around 10k with, they torn my pocket for more money and phone. I knelt down before them asking to take everything that i wanted no wahala. Pointing the dagger at my chest while on my kneels they latter opted their minds and left.

My takes is this; First God keeps us from the rod of the wicked. Paradventute this happens never drag anything with them . They are lawless, wounded, drug addict and murdering their victim does not cost them a button. Jesus will never leave us o.

I almost got killed in the same manner in 2009. I had just moved to Oworonsoki for easy access to my new job on the island.
I was at the Oworo roundabout and there were no buses that evening. A bike man came around. I boarded the bike. I was new to the area and couldn't tell the direction he was taking. He parked under a lonely bridge. Before i could figure out what was happening, he had snatched my bags containing clothes and then was struggling for the bag containing my wallet and phone. He punched me so hard. When i managed to get away, i crossed the road without looking. I could have been crushed by an on-coming vehicle. A good Samaritan who lived across saw me cross the road. He had witnessed the incident. He helped me back home and mentioned it was a common occurrence.
I was shaken by that incident.

Lagos hasn't always been safe. Be careful out there.

That girl's story is really sad.

Like you, I came from a very poor family, face-me-I face you house, slept on a mat, and used a pit latrine for the first 17 years of my life, but was able to break through and overcome my background. I later went back to lift my siblings from poverty.

Op, I had a very close friend whose life became miserable because of his parents and siblings. He would give all his paycheck, and the parents would still be asking for more and calling him stingy. There was a time they came to his house to fight him because he refused to spend money on his younger sibling to travel abroad, mind you, he already financed the first trip and the irresponsible boy was deported. I was told, there was a particular day his parents waited for him at the gate and almost tore his clothes.

On the day of his death, he woke up early in the morning with a call from his mom asking him to come see her. He jumped on a bike and was involved in a fatal accident, which claimed his life. His parents still came to his place of work to fight over his gratuities. This was a guy with a wife and three little kids. They were also fighting with his wife.

He is dead and gone, while the families have moved on with their lives. Rest in peace, Wilson!
