We've got to be really very careful out there. A lot is happening. Most of these food sellers are terribly diabolical.

I'm NOT here to judge anybody because none of us is perfect after all. I have watched, I have observed and I have noticed and come to the realization, and maybe, conclusion that Majority of our christian pastors and brethren do not understand the true meaning of Evangelism and soul winning. Most evangelism are only done for doing-sakes. Our people aren't intentional about winning souls genuinely. For instance, you're on the field doing evangelism, and you are trying to win a soul for Christ. You have someone who seems genuinely willing to follow Christ and instead of preaching Christ's love for humanity, you begin to preach your church to him. You begin to instil fear about Hellfire to him. You begin to bombard him with scriptures. You begin to link his predicament to some "village people" somewhere. I personally had an encounter while I was evangelizing some years back before I backslid. I met someone and while I was preaching Christ to him, I saw his willingness to follow Christ but he explained a few of his personal challenges and struggles to me. At that moment, I didn't need to preach too much to him, I had to settle his immediate needs at the time because no matter what I had told him, if that need wasn't settled, trust me, my effort would amount to nothing. A drowning man doesn't need to be preached to at that time, all he needs is to be Rescued first! A man who is thirsty needs water first before you can preach to him, a man who's hungry needs food before the Word. But our evangelists will deliberately ignored these aspects and start quoting every scripture just to let their potential convert know that they are well-knowledged in the bible. Look at how Jesus fed the 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fishes in Matthew 14:13-21 before he began to preach to them. Some pastors even use people's predicament to preach on the altar. How about follow-up. How many evangelists follow-up on a new convert or someone that have preached to? They go about preaching to many people and end up not winning a single soul. Some even go to argue with those they are sharing the word with. |
