if it is born out of whether you can afford it, i see no reason why you should bother, but if for looking odd, it will but is something people don't really care about, nobody goes around checking rooftops to criticize.

I noticed the one without hollow is mostly used in building housing in the Eastern part of the country.

why people mostly used hollow is because of conduit piping for electricity, it is easier to run pipe inside hollow blocks than in solid blocks, same for plumbing pipes.... But i will always recommend you use solid blocks for your foundation, afterwards hollow throughout.
