@bricks
You'll need to have a heart of stone for you to leave your banking Jobs to come over to UK; i have to tell you the truth; don't expect to walk into another banking job here in the UK. Your Nigerian experience and qualification will attract an insignificant recognition from UK employers.

Starting a new life in the UK as an immigrant is very hard, there's a very little or rather no help at all from the UK government. The information for new comers is scanty and very misleading. Compared to immigrant going to Canada, USA and Australia, UK immigrants seems to have more hard hurdles to cross. In the Canada for example if you migrate as a skilled worker you could at least go for more education with govt funding and assistance, this definitely do help immigrants to settle and intergrate easily. However, the UK govt does not provide any sort of funding for immigrants under tier1, if you want to study in their Universities you'll be charged at international student rate (except you have resided in the UK for 3 years) and yet they will expect you to make earnings up to £35000 to get your visa renewed! what a ridiculous condition.

once again,thanks man!
My advise to you is to look before you leap and think of the consequences and weigh the merits and demerits of this your proposed migration. I am not discouraging you at all the choice is yours but be aware that there are so many hurdles to cross.

goodluck

@Naijaking1 your rhetoric will not change the fact that you are a slowpoke for trying to make logic of corruption. grin
bidemi12:
@bricks it still baffles me that a supposedly intellegent person would decide to try and drive us through a labyrinth of confusion with rhetoric that takes up half a page which otherwise would take a few lines. Fine obasanjo has employed people with stolen funds, and have given people employment, all when and good. But dont come here to try and make logic of corruption. That is how day in day out nigerians are being brainwashed. So lets make a truce, no more moronic statements. Pleeeaaasssee. grin
@bidemi12-just so u know, this is actually becoming boring! try using more vocabs.it woudl help u in communicating wit civilized people.

@ sapele guy, im very familiar with those and the fact still remains those are just allegations thrown around to discredit the man and they arent even PROVEN yet. which electricity project are u talkin about? The amount spent wasnt even any where near the qouted fiqures. Obj enemies just concort up som figures to brainwash pple to make him look terrible.
Modern doesnt necessary mean in phycical terms. It refers to a new direction, a point of turnin d corner. we had just recovered from years of military missrule and attempts were made during obj's rule to do things differntly. There was massive economic rejuvenation, inflation rates stagnated, enormous inflow of investments, debt fogiveness, serious fight against corruptn(even if not done perfectly), improvement in nija image abroad.
Point is he tried to make things work. How, in 8yrs, would he fix electricity, roads, water, hospitals that have all gone all terrible through years of serious neglect.
You point out areas he didnt do well and i point out sections he did well. period.
could'nt have said it better myself. ; people are troubled with a disease called "myopia" in nigeria.D

NICE ONE!

how people cant discuss issues with one another without throwing insults is amazing. Even when you are discussing other issues like music, romance etc these same people come on here and before they write three words, they would have decorated their write ups with all manner of insults and abusive languages thrown at anyone who as much as toe a different line of thot to theirs.
To start with, obj has not been proven to have looted money.  U cannot sit in your room and just assume since his farm was better of after he left office then he must have dried up nija money. How wont his farm improve? He was president for 8yrs for God's sake. There are so many benefits that are attached to dat office. The 6k figure amounts to the total no of employees thruout the 30yrs of its existence.
im not an obj beneficary but if truth be told he tried his best given the circumstances and he shud be called father of modern nigeria.
He may not av been perfect. He may failed in some aspects( who doesnt fail anyway or who passes all). But to say the man was a total failure is just being economical with d truth.
He laid the foundation for us to move forward and he shud be accorded that honour.
End of,
am glad that we have one more rational thinking dude on this thread.

i have never seen  or heard any one as foul mouthed on this thread like Bidemi12 and beaf .funny thing is this two Ghost writers have not written anything intelligent since this whole thing started apart from spitting insults.they argue thier points with nothing but childish ramblings.

@demoladoc-I totally agree with you dat OBj laid the foundation to move us  forward as a democractic nation.unfortunately yaradua has not been able to keep up the momentum, and this is  setting us back again.

OBJ's tenure saw the influx of young men in politics, talk about  donald duke and the likes.

in case we all have forgotten,CBN Governor is a political appointed.so who appointed Chukwuma Soludo that started the first sanitization of the banking industry with the consolidation excercise-OBJ.

who single handedly checkmate IBBs presidential ambition(which would have succeeded and the likes of bidemi12 will come on this forum to scream "blue murder"  all day in front thier computer screen without doing shit!)?-OBJ, no one could have succeded in doing that  in nigeria and i stand to be corrected.

we have all agreed on this thread that OBJ also stole.what i believe the likes of Niajaking1,demolac and my humble self are saying is if u want to judge him based on his performance as a leader in nigeria compared to the last 20yrs of leadership we have had, then be fair,be objective and be realistic.

OBJ has employed 6,000 people, 6,000 less people that would wake up in the morning witrhout knowing where to go to earn a  HONEST living,

NUFF SAID!
CelebritiesRe: P-Square Finally Opens Up About Landlord by bricks(m): 8:22am On Oct 13, 2009
the reason why P-square can go public and yan rubbish is becos we celebrate too much mediocrity in this country.

This "copy and paste" boiz canot and i repeat cannot win a local talent hunt show anywhere in the world but here ;they are "celebrities"-we have so abused the word that an artitse dat comes out wit a song laced wit corny lyrics and danceable beats, buys a second hand vehicle with the proceeds, wears cheap and fake jewelries and intrudes ur home via TV automatically becomes a "celebrity".

if this is not the case, how on earth wuld u think that u own a house dat big based on verbal agreement?have the trio not head of professionals called lawyers?, please!

How convinient for you to say am changing my stance, I'm not. You probably never bothered to understand what I have been saying all along.
If you didn't understand what I have been saying for these 4 pages, then you're truely a slowpoke.
If you don't understand that at the moment there is no other way we can get even a fraction of the money stolen by our leaders back, you're a slowpoke.
If you don't know that many African leaders would rather die and forfeit these monies in European banks, than give it to their people, you're a slowpoke.
If you don't know that there many other thieves like OBJ walking the streets in Nigeria with Billions of our money rotting away in foreign banks, you're a slowpoke.
If you don't know that these billions is creating jobs for kids in other countries, you're a slowpoke.
If you don't know these thieves currently rule Nigeria, and there's nothing you can do to them, and their friends, then you're still a slowpoke.
If you have ever been unemployed, and you even went to your enemies companies to look for work, any type of work; and you got a job, but refused the job, because your enemy stole the money from your family in the past, while hunger dey kill you and your present family, then you're a real big slowpoke.
@naijaking1-wow! shocked shocked :ou are killing dis dude-but i think he deserves to know the truth and be realistic.
If you don't know that these billions is creating jobs for kids in other countries, you're a slowpoke.

BusinessRe: Obasanjo Creates 6000 Jobs In Ota Farm by bricks(m): 9:27pm On Oct 12, 2009
once again insults and more insults! hilarious sha!, i tire for una

i just wanted all of us to write with a little bit of maturity and not childish outburst of insults like its cool or smething.

OBJ did not give the telecoms companies the biz acumen to run thier biz, but he created the atmosphere and opportunity weather u agree or not ; and that  is the first thing  you need to start as a biz man.wether u wuld succeed or not is a combination of a whole lot of other related factors.

they solved electrcity issues in Ghana,my write up was refering to Nigeria.he could have solved it -yes! but if my comments were read with the intent to undestand rather than show that all pple can do on NL is riegn insults;you would see that i noted telectrcity issues is deeper than what one man can  try to solve without him being compromised. it is corruption at its highest level-OBJ is not a saint.i mentioned that.

ODI(sorry i did not get the spelling right) is not UK,, what makes it ok for similar occurence to happen in one country but a taboo in another?

An average bank  in nigeiria employs roughly 4,000-6,000pple; they boast of  paying inflated salaries while their books are as twisted as lagos roads, at the end of the day, we are all killing ouselves.

what i ask for is objectivity when making comments.
BusinessRe: Obasanjo Creates 6000 Jobs In Ota Farm by bricks(m): 8:07pm On Oct 12, 2009
i have gone thru the comments and am wondering why are we all insulting ourselves?

i believe NL is a medium 4 mature pple who post their opinion and not degenerate to insults (though some are mad illarious).

OBJ has made a coment and we are all here insulting each other;so who is the bigger baboon?

if our parents or close relatives had enjoyed the dividends of associating wit any of these pple in government,am sure our bucal cavities would be glued together to say a word against them on a forum like this.

dat besides the point, lets come to the man called OBJ;he ruled for 8 yrs and what?let me highlight what.

GLO,MTN,ZAIN- how many pple are employed in these organisations?how many more have recharge card biz?(samll scale and big scale).

how many milionares have emerged from the biz of recharge cards?(i personally know one)who made it happen?-OBJ(even if these telecoms coy paid thru their noses to get the licence) but the fact remains dat other heads of state never made it happen-he did.

Agabni Darego won most butiful girl in the world,y'all think it was becos she was the most butiful, ? think again- international POLITICS came to play just to put naija on the map again;OBJ had international presence  and commanded some respect believe it or not.
ask president Jimmy Carter (ex-US president)

on record, nigeria's economy experinced a single digit inflation during his regime. foreign investors also came in during his time.Dollar stood still at =N=120-$1.00.for almost 8yrs!, STABILTY.

now let's come to electricity!yes he failed!but who has suceeded in this area?

until we realize that the problem of power geneneration is one that everybody(from a local govt chairman to a senator)is profiting from;there would be no head- way.do you know that u need to get a licence from the Govt to import generators?-who are the impoters?

someone talked about him murdering pple in Ode.now ask urself, how wuld u feel if u were the son/dauther of the millitary men abushed and massacred(the pics were in teh papers then and it was gorry) in Ode which led to government  bombing the place in retaliation?no nation takws it lightly when you f****ck wit his millitary.if you dont take hard stand when it happens, tall bandits in teh name of freedom fighters would think ur millitary might is weak-dat is dangerous for any country as a whole in the long term!

now u would all say it cannnot happen in a developed country but i say foul!-it happened in Great  Britian.UK bombed Ireland in retaliation to IRA bombings;lots of inocent pple died on both sides.

i am not out to suport ObJ or any of these bastards!, my point is lets make fair  comments and judgements, nobody is perfect.

if u want change ,,lets kill all these mofos in their league and age brackets;it happened in Gahna and now we are all running there without shame!

OBJ employed 6,000 pple, 6,000 less pple on the streets trying to rob ur arse;think about that!

Hello Guys, its good to know that there's a forum like this to ask questions from people with real life and practical knowledge.

Of recent, I and my fiance have been toying with the idea of securing a highly skilled immigrant work permit from the uk.

I am sure y'all very well know that getting this is based on a point based -system which covers areas like education qualification, age ,income.

My Fiance qaualifies becos the policy of the scheme has been  recently changed to score points on education only if you have additional qualifications e.g a masters degree (which she just conculded);while i am just about putting in for mine in unilag.now this point (education) carires a lot of weight which makes my total  points insufficient to qualify.

With this, the idea came that she becomes the primary applicant while i become the dependant ;of cos based on marital relationship as we plan to get married.

Though i have gone thru the designated uk site for the scheme;i sincerely want honest opinions and practical insights as to how this arangement might work out for us.

Also i wouldnt mind to know the documents to put together and all.one can understand these things better if it comes from experienced individuals rather than just reading it on a websites.

furthermore, what are the prosppects there cos there is always the fear of the unknown?

I have a friend currently working in the uk(legitimately) dat has been bugging me  to try and find my way down there,my fiance also have cosins that have been telling her same.however, i know that money dont grow on trees over there and life is not all bed of roses;reason why am trying to get 3rd party opininion/advice on this forum.

I have never realy been big on living abroad;but i just feel why not?, even if its just for few years and most importantly give ur kids an opportunity to be citizens of the "world" rater than a country  that has not moved any where and without electricity for the past 45 yrs wallowing in abject poverty in the mist of plenty.

Now pple will say "so is running abroad going to solve the problem?", my answer to  that is:self preservation and survival is the only way to gurantee the future of any human. i can only change things if i am alive, mentaly sane and have the economnic power to do so.

My honest opinion of  the present Nigeria without unneccessary sentiments of "nigeria is the only true country i have" and all that crap is that it can not guarantee that survival with the THIEVES,BARBARIANS and MADMEN  that rule us.

kindly help a broda out!

Jobs/VacanciesRe: CIBN Act: Banks To Employ Only CIBN Members by bricks(m): 6:58pm On May 12, 2009
this is really stupid, frankly; its just a way for CIBN to increase thier subscription revenue.this is because other proffesssional bodies like ACCA,CFA and project management are having more patroange, why?, they are boader in outlook.

i presently work in a bank and i am also a finance graduate but i am not interested in a CIBN certificate;it is too narrow.the question is what happens wen you leave the banking industry for another? i bet u that the certfication becomes useless.

what should have been done is to insist that any unit of a bank or a branch must be headed by a member of the instistute.this is becos the individual must have put in a sigmifnant number of years in the industry thus indicating that he /she has chosen banking as a career.
then ,they can give 5 years grace period to be fully certified, that would have been a step in the right direction.Unfortunately, this was not the case.

What we have is another obnoxious law made selfishly.

i Weep for this nation.;its a shame.

i believe that the price for this car is way too high.no matter how well mentainend a naija used car is,bottom line is that it is naija used ;in lagos for that matter!

it's a shame that our road conditions and highly crooked mechanics turn this well built machines into crap in no time after just a few years.

folks in Abuja, PortHarcourt and some other cool towns will tell you that your car will last 10 times longerPand neater in those places than in this hustle town called lagos.

i personally can never buy a naija used car no matter how clean it looks.just my opinion and not in any way trying to knock your hustle.

hi guys,i could nmot bui pick interest in this conversation.

i checked the link to the tread that was provided to see a similar model of the Toyaota on sale and i must say that their are quite some diferences.

alloywheels, brand new tires, newly fitted leather seats(if all these statements are facts)go a long way in adding some sort of higher value to a car, even in teh states, these are considered as extras,so i dont think we should knock floridacar's hustle, after all he is not forcing anybody to buy the car.

anyways, i have a question for the house ,what does these initials mean when they are on cars?(LE,CE,LX)i would really love to know.

keep up the good work guys, and there's space for everybody to sell their products, so let's squash the squables and ngative stuff.
