Health / Re: Help! Irregular Period Is Making Me Go Crazy by BridgeClinic: 1:14pm On Mar 18, 2020
Good afternoon dear posted,

We have read your message, and we are sorry for what you must have been through.

Irregular periods are definitely not normal. It will make tracking your ovulation very difficult and may delay conception. This isn't a factor of age (being in your late 20s is never a reason for irregular periods), hence we strongly recommend that you seek immediate help, preferably a gynaecologist or fertility specialist.

At Bridge Clinic, our gynaecologists help women who are struggling to conceive due to conditions such as irregular periods, polycystic ovaries, ovarian cysts, to mention a few.

You can reach out to us on 01 631 0092 or WhatsApp us on 0810 460 7791 for further help. Please don't suffer in silence. There is always help for you.

Have a blessed day.

Romance / Re: How Do I Get Over My Ex Whom I Left Because We Are Both AS? by BridgeClinic: 11:30am On Dec 17, 2019
Freethought:
Good afternoon nairalanders, a couple of weeks ago, i came here to seek advice on how to handle knowing my wife to be is AS as i also am. A lot of people here said we should just break up that the marriage won't end well for us.

We both listened to your advices and decided to call off the wedding but now we can't seem to stay away from each other. I tried severally to not see her and I'm sure she also tried not to see me but most times we just found ourselves together having sex again.

I think about her almost every time so i told her to stop calling me, at least to get her off of my mind. But she may just call simply to say hello and from dere we are having sex again.

The sex we keep having is my problem as i fear the SS problem we were trying to prevent by calling off the wedding may now come this time.

She's irresistible and i don't know how to go about this whole thing. Please kindly advice accordingly if you've gone through this before. I really need to get over her and stop having sex with her.

Thank you

Dear Freethought, we understand your dilemma and can feel your pain. We have encountered a number of clients at Bridge Clinic in Nigeria who has faced situations similar to yours. Many people here have recommended medical advice and procedures as a solution to your challenge and we are here to tell you that that is the best step to take next. PGT (Preimplantation Genetic Testing) formerly known as PGD or PGS can help to identify the genotype of embryos that are created during the process of IVF, before transferring them to the womb. This means that couples with the AS genotype in the male and female can have children without worrying about having Sickle Cell babies. This is highly recommended as it increases the chances of having a healthy baby. If you would like to know more about this procedure, you may click here https://www.thebridgeclinic.com/patient-care/services/preimplantation-genetic-testing-pgt . We wish you the very best and hope that you are able to find a solution that allays your fears really soon.
Family / Re: My Genotype Is AS And My Fiancee Is AS; What Do I Do? by BridgeClinic: 5:14pm On Oct 08, 2019
Hello, greetings to you,

We can only imagine the kind of pain you must be going through emotionally, to have to lose someone you love for a reason of genotype incompatibility.

Bridge Clinic is happy to tell you about Preimplantation Genetic testing (PGT). This is a medical procedure performed on embryos (created during IVF) to test for the genotype and other chromosomal abnormalities before transferring the embryo into the womb of the woman. This way, couples of AS-AS genotype are assured of healthy babies.

Bridge Clinic is Nigeria's most fertile fertility clinic, located at Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. You can visit our website - www.thebridgeclinic.com for more details about us.

BroAchival:
Greetings to this great house,

As I type this message, my heart is heavy.

Up till today, I have never known my genotype till I went to do medical fitness test for my job/employment process.

I've being dating by girlfriend for about two years and seven months now, and I've always seen her as a perfect match to me, not because she's perfect, but because she's very loyal, reserved and calm, respectful, teachable, willing to learn, beautiful and very supportive to say a few.

Kai, the thought of losing her is killing and unexplainable. cry She had been a BLESSING to me all these while.
We've really worked on ourselves and helped each other to overcome our weaknesses.

With the challenges of my new and better job, will I really have that time to woo women and start the process of working on a woman to blend and suit me?

And this is a girl I'm planning to settle down with by the middle of next year, after I must have gotten used to my new job.

I have always believed that my genotype would be AA, but I was wrong!

Somebody told me that there's nothing God can not do, that he has seen people giving testimonies about change of genotypes. I didn't doubt him, it's just that i'm not the "churchious" type who easily believe all those stories.

Now, my questions are:

1.) Is it possible to have just two children without an SS child?

2.) How do I relate this sad news to her (after she has turned down several serious marriage proposals because of me)?

3.) Please, what do I do?

Please, help me and send this to front page for greater views and advice.

Matured and very serious advice needed.

Thanks.

There are some speculations that over time, it reduces the semen's parameters (sperm morphology, sperm motility and sperm count), but we can categorically state that there is no scientific evidence to confirm these speculations.

No, it doesn't have to be at our clinic.

But FertilitySure is a very comprehensive test that only Bridge Clinic conducts.

We have individualised packages as well as packages for couples, and we utilize European standards to carry out in-depth investigations on the possible causes of infertility, as well as proferring proposed fertility treatments.

But we must keep trying our best. People out there need our services. As clinicians, we must do our best and leave the rest to God.

At Bridge Clinic, in spite of how we are able to successfully assist a lot of couples with infertility problems, we always acknowledge that all babies are a gift from God.

Absolutely. You are very correct!

Both partners must be tested, TOGETHER. FertilitySure makes this happen at Bridge Clinic for intending couples or married couples.

Romance / Re: Guys! Do You Know If Your Woman Can Give Birth To A Child? by BridgeClinic: 1:07pm On Apr 24, 2019
You are 100% correct to ask this question. And yes, it does take two to make a baby.

We have a similar post like this up for men too. Check it out here: https://www.nairaland.com/5150966/ladies-know-man-good-quality

We do not believe in automatically placing the burden of reproduction on women. In our 20 years experience in this business, we have seen that several men also have low sperm count, no sperm at all, blocked ducts and other issues, making it impossible to conceive naturally but possible with IVF and assisted means.

When most couples come for testing, we discover that 30% of men are infertile and 30% of women are infertile. For some couples, both the man and woman are infertile. For about 10%, there is a case of unexplained infertility.

This is why we recommend FertiltySure for intending couples and even couples who are trying. Knowing your fertility status early in life is key!

MissRaine69:
And if it’s the name who has the issue?
You need to stop this business of automatically placing the burden of reproduction on women. It takes two people to make a baby.
Secondly a woman can have nothing evidently wrong with her reproductive organs and still won’t be able to conceive something your “tests” won’t be able to detect.

You've finally met Miss Made-in-heaven!

-Beautiful face
-Curvaceous body
-Good income
-Nice car
-Excellent jollof rice skills
- In short, she is wife material

She seems to be the perfect match for you! But there is one thing that is not written on faces - whether her womb and reproductive organs are in shape for conception. Can SHE conceive a baby? Apart from knowing your genotype, your HIV status, it is best to know your fertility status too before marriage.

There is a test to confirm the viability of a woman's reproductive organs. A FertilitySure test from Bridge Clinic, which every intending couple should take BEFORE marriage. Knowing your fertility status can save you a lot of speculation and frustration when you get married (just in case you encounter delays in getting pregnant).

Want to take the test? You may call us on 01 631 0092 or WhatsApp us on +234 810 460 7791.

Lol, very nice photo here! Needed this good laugh!

However, on a serious note, this is a sad reality some couples are facing. Some men have very low sperm count or no sperm at all. After years of trying and accusing the woman as the "barren" one, they eventually come to our clinic for tests, only to discover that their woman is 100% fine but the problem was with the man.

What we discover will shock you. Some sperm cannot swim well. Some sperm do not have tails to swim. Some have two tails and swim abnormally. Some sperm have 2 heads! It's amazing what we find out when we conduct FertilitySure tests.

But nice photo anyway!!!

If you are married, below the age of 35, and you have had REGULAR UNPROTECTED SEX FOR ONE WHOLE YEAR, but you have not gotten pregnant, you need to see a specialist doctor to run investigations and confirm whether there are problems.

If you are above 35, don't wait till a year has passed. See your doctor after 6 MONTHS OF REGULAR UNPROTECTED SEX.

If you are currently waiting for the fruit of the womb, share your story here and let's help each other. Don't keep silent. If you hide your problem, your problem will eventually hide you. SPEAK OUT.

Health / Re: Surrogate Mothers Carrying A Baby For Another Woman In Nigeria by BridgeClinic: 10:07am On Apr 24, 2019
Your decision to help another woman is absolutely selfless! We completely agree with the fact that surrogacy should be given more consideration in Nigeria. And we completely love that your approach is not so much about the money, but the heart to help someone, letting another couple use your womb. People like you are rare and we need more mindsets like this so that we can kick out these illegal and unethical baby factories! Who knows whether the mothers are screened for infections? Who knows what sort of medical checks and medications these women undergo/use while they are pregnant? We say YES to Surrogacy.

ethereal:
Haven read all the childish responses to the post I made ,its no wonder illegal baby factories continue to thrive..Nigerians are petty and judgemental, and distrustful of every act of goodness.our paranoia is our undoing.I'm done wt childbirth,my last child is in the Junior secondary, and its something I've always hoped to do fr someone before I leave this life..Its the greatest gift I could do fr someone who couldn't....peace

Would you and your spouse try naturally or will you consider Sex Selection?

Health / Surrogate Mothers Carrying A Baby For Another Woman In Nigeria by BridgeClinic: 2:38pm On Apr 04, 2019
Surrogates are gradually increasing in Nigeria. There are two kinds of surrogates - traditional and gestational.

A traditional surrogate is a woman who gets artificially inseminated with sperm from a father. She then carries the baby and delivers it for the couple to raise. She is the biological mother of the baby but she hands the baby over to the couple at birth.

A gestational surrogate through IVF receives the fertilized embryo of the father and the mother of the baby. She then carries the baby until birth. She is not genetically connected to the child in any way, other than being the birth mother.

So! Let's talk. What do you guys think about it? #surrogacy #nigeria #ivf #assistedreproduction
Health / Re: Bridge Clinic On Nairaland. Let's Get Talking About Infertility!!! by BridgeClinic: 2:33pm On Apr 04, 2019
This is true. Taking folic acid helps to boost your body's red blood cells. This is very important to avoid anaemia (deficiency in the quality and quantity in red blood cells) when pregnancy eventually occurs. A full blood count also needs to be taken to ensure the health of the woman.

Hi there! Thanks for your message and congratulations on your marriage.

For a newly married couple, we usually recommend you have unprotected sexual intercourse for a period of 12 months. There are fertility tests the couple can also take before 12 months elapses, however, if the woman is over the age of 35, then investigations can begin after 6 months of unprotected intercourse. Also, if you are trying for a baby, you should have unprotected intercourse at least 3 times a week.

Hope this helps? You can ask us further questions if you please. We're happy to help!
