Politics / Upholding Economic Policies Amidst Political Sabotage: The Imperative For Unity by BriggsBryan: 2:58pm On Feb 24
In the midst of Nigeria's political landscape, a storm brews, threatening the economic stability initiated under President Bola Tinubu's administration. Allegations, unsubstantiated yet potent, have surfaced, purportedly engineered by factions from the north, aiming to wrest political power away from the south. At the heart of these accusations lies the president's decision to relocate select government departments to Lagos—a move deemed essential for efficiency but contentious in its implications.

The South West finds itself at a crossroads, confronted with the challenge of navigating through these turbulent political waters. Drawing inspiration from the resilience of the South East, it is imperative to heed the lessons of resilience and fortitude in the face of adversity. The call to ignore protests and propaganda, to unite and steadfastly pursue the envisioned eight-year plan, resonates with urgency.

Amidst calls for disintegration fueled by the discontent of losing political sway, now is the time to reaffirm Nigeria's strength in diversity. The nation's unity, forged through centuries of shared history and collective aspirations, must not waver in the face of political machinations. It is a time to stand resolute, to showcase the strength of unity, and to safeguard the progress made thus far.

As the echoes of dissent grow louder, it is imperative to remember that Nigeria's strength lies not in division but in unity, not in succumbing to political maneuvering but in upholding the principles of democracy and progress. Let us rally together, transcending regional differences and political affiliations, to steer the nation towards a future defined by prosperity and inclusivity.

Long live Nigeria—may its unity endure, and may its people forge ahead, undeterred by the challenges that lie ahead.

Politics / Charting A Path To Economic Stability: Strategies For Nigeria's Inflation by BriggsBryan: 4:25pm On Feb 18
By: Victor Eze

Reducing inflation and economic hardship demands a comprehensive strategy crafted by seasoned economists, one that meticulously addresses the intricate web of factors contributing to these formidable challenges. Herein lie key strategies paramount to a nation's journey towards economic equilibrium:

Monetary Policy: A judicious deployment of tight monetary policies by central banking authorities assumes precedence in the quest to quell inflationary pressures. This encompasses deft maneuvers such as the elevation of interest rates, judicious reduction of the money supply, and the enactment of measures designed to temper excessive spending and borrowing.

Fiscal Policy: Governments are tasked with the solemn responsibility of charting a course of fiscal prudence, wherein the reins of budgetary deficits are firmly grasped, public expenditures are judiciously managed, and the fabric of tax frameworks is meticulously woven to engender fiscal discipline and steadfast stability.

Structural Reforms: The cornerstone of sustainable economic rejuvenation rests upon the bedrock of structural reforms, meticulously engineered to invigorate productivity, fortify competitiveness, and nurture a culture of innovation. This entails a sweeping spectrum of reforms spanning labor markets, trade policies, and regulatory architectures.

Price Stability Measures: To mitigate the vicissitudes of price volatility, governments are urged to orchestrate policies aimed at stabilizing prices of essential commodities and services. Interventions such as subsidies, price controls, and strategic reserves stand as stalwart bulwarks against the tides of inflationary upheaval.

Supply-Side Policies: A robust expansion of supply-side capacities, facilitated through strategic investments in infrastructure, technological modernization, and educational empowerment, serves as a potent antidote to the pressures of inflation, efficaciously bridging burgeoning demand-supply differentials.

Exchange Rate Management: Adroit management of exchange rates assumes a pivotal role in tempering the pricing dynamics of imported goods, thereby mitigating inflationary impulses. This necessitates adept interventions in foreign exchange markets or the judicious adoption of flexible exchange rate regimes.

Promoting Investment and Entrepreneurship
: Cultivating an ecosystem conducive to investment inflows, entrepreneurial ventures, and the ascendancy of the private sector emerges as a linchpin in propelling economic growth, fostering job creation, and ameliorating economic distress by broadening avenues for wealth creation and income augmentation.

Social Safety Nets: In the pursuit of equitable economic stability, the establishment of robust social safety nets assumes paramount significance. Welfare programs, unemployment benefits, and targeted food assistance serve as indispensable lifelines, extending succor to vulnerable segments of society and mitigating the deleterious effects of inflation and economic adversity on households.

International Cooperation: Harmonious collaboration with esteemed international consortia, neighboring nations, and strategic trade allies heralds a beacon of hope in navigating the labyrinthine contours of economic tribulation. By harnessing the collective synergy of global resources, expertise, and market access, nations can cultivate an environment conducive to sustained economic stability and exponential growth.

Transparent Governance and Accountability: Upholding the tenets of transparent governance and unwavering accountability constitutes the bedrock upon which the edifice of economic resilience is erected. By fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and judicious stewardship in economic policymaking and execution, nations can engender public trust, fortify investor confidence, and perpetuate an epoch of sustained economic equilibrium.

In summation, the confluence of these strategies, underpinned by meticulous planning, sagacious execution, and unwavering resolve, promises to chart a course towards prosperity, resilience, and enduring economic stability in Nigeria.
Politics / An Open Letter To President Bola Tinubu - Engr Victor Eze by BriggsBryan: 5:39am On Feb 12
Dear President Tinubu,

As a concerned Nigerian citizen, I am compelled to express my deep consternation regarding the current economic policies that are placing undue hardship upon our people.

I recall those heady days on the campaign trail, crossing this great nation from Lagos to Abuja, Kano to Port Harcourt, listening to the hopes and dreams of Nigerians yearning for change. We strived shoulder-to-shoulder, fueled by a shared vision to lift up the common man and woman. Our people's aspirations rested heavily upon us.

It is with profound regret that I must now give voice to the worries weighing upon millions - farmers unable to bring food to market, traders crippled by rising costs, families making impossible choices between healthcare, education, shelter. This is not the change we fought for.

As stewards of Nigeria's future, we have a moral duty to enact fiscal reforms that encourage entrepreneurship, innovation and shared prosperity. Let us summon again that audacious hope which united a diverse nation behind bold leadership. There are brighter days ahead if we have the courage to make hard choices - to live up to the ideas which lit that victorious path to Aso Rock.

I implore you, take swift action to put Nigeria back on track towards the vision we outlined. Roll back policies stifling growth and opportunity. Surround yourself with advisors who put people over politics. Be again the inspiring leader who restored belief that together, we can build a just and equitable society.

I stand ready to support you in spirit and deed. But we must make haste, for time is not on our side. Each day that passes without remedy erodes a little more of the people's trust. Let us write the next chapter of progress together.

May God continue to bless you and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Your fellow citizen,
Engr. Victor Eze

Politics / A Message Of Hope And Unity On Nigeria's Independence Day by BriggsBryan: 9:19am On Oct 01, 2023
My fellow Nigerians,

Today, we mark another year of independence - an occasion to celebrate the strong, spirited people who make up this great nation. It is also a time to reflect on the long road we have travelled together.

For Nigeria has come far in its journey, but the hardest steps still lie ahead. The challenges we face cannot be overcome by politics as usual. It will require us reaching across the many divisions in our culture; building bridges and finding common hopes that transcend tribe, region and religion.

What makes Nigeria special is that no one group or belief can claim this land as theirs alone. It belongs to all Nigerians - Muslim and Christian, north and south, Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba. We are diversely beautiful threads woven together in the vibrant fabric of one people.

I know the progress we seek is within our grasp, for generations of Nigerians have confronted hatred with love, division with unity. Though injustice still exists, we look to a day when our differences no longer define us.

So on this day, let us renew our commitment to a Nigeria where all citizens have equal rights and equal opportunities. Together, by embracing that which connects us and lifting up that which makes us unique, we can build the Nigeria of our hopes - a land of freedom and justice for all.

God bless you, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Happy Independence Day.

Foreign Affairs / Re: How African Leaders Are Carried In Russia Vs In England (Photos) by BriggsBryan: 5:58pm On Jul 30, 2023
The image of African leaders traveling by bus during the Queen's funeral likely does not tell the whole story. London was exceptionally crowded during that time, so using buses for transport was probably a practical decision rather than a sign of disrespect. The United Kingdom has long-standing ties with many African countries and remains an important partner compared to other major powers. While constructive feedback can lead to positive growth, it's wise to avoid assumptions or sweeping generalizations, especially during emotionally charged events. With the many global challenges we face, nurturing partnerships built on shared interests and values is crucial. There are always opportunities for allies to deepen understanding and cooperation when discussions are thoughtful and respectful.
Education / Re: How Much Do Guinness World Record Holders Get Paid? by BriggsBryan: 9:53pm On May 14, 2023
The amount of money people with Guinness World Records receive can vary depending on several factors such as the type of record, the level of competition involved, and the individual agreement made with Guinness World Records.

In many cases, setting a world record is a personal achievement that brings recognition and fame rather than financial gain. However, in some cases, companies or organizations may offer prize money or other incentives to individuals who set records that are relevant to their products or services.

Guinness World Records does not typically offer prize money for setting a record, but they do provide a certificate and other recognition for the achievement. Additionally, they may cover some of the expenses associated with verifying the record.

Overall, the amount of money that people with Guinness World Records receive can vary widely and is largely dependent on the individual circumstances surrounding the record

Politics / Open Letter To The INEC Chairman By Engr Victor Eze by BriggsBryan: 3:54pm On Mar 09, 2023
Dear Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),

I write this open letter to you today with great concern about the upcoming governorship election scheduled to hold on the 18th of March 2023 in Nigeria. As the head of INEC, you have a tremendous responsibility to ensure that the election is conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, without any form of bias or favoritism towards any political party or candidate.

However, in recent times, there have been growing concerns among Nigerians regarding your ability to lead INEC in a manner that inspires confidence and trust in the electoral process. Many people have raised questions about your independence and impartiality, especially in light of your past actions and statements that seem to suggest a certain level of bias towards certain political parties or candidates.

Given these concerns, I strongly urge you to step aside and allow another person to handle the governorship election on the 18th of March 2023. This decision is not a personal attack on you or your leadership, but rather a necessary step to preserve the integrity of the electoral process and ensure that the will of the people is respected.

As the head of INEC, your primary responsibility is to ensure that every eligible Nigerian citizen has the opportunity to exercise their right to vote, and that their votes count. This is a sacred trust that must be upheld at all times, regardless of personal affiliations or political pressures.

Therefore, I implore you to consider the greater good of the Nigerian people and step aside from your position as the Chairman of INEC. This decision will not only help to restore public confidence in the electoral process, but it will also demonstrate your commitment to the ideals of democracy and good governance.

I thank you for your service to Nigeria and urge you to do the right thing for the sake of our country and its people.

Sincerely,

Engr Victor Eze (MSc & MBA UK)

Got married 2yrs ago and we have a beautiful daughter, she has this dream of studying in Canada and I support her dream.

Our immigration consultant recommend she apply alone to increase chances that i and our daughter can join her later.

Now visa is out and she will be travelling next month. I have read numerous stories about how women change when they travel out.

Bro, the best thing you should do now is to commence your application to join her as her dependent partner including your child, please don’t give her time to settle on the new environment before filing your application.

Don’t spend more than 8 weeks before pushing to join her. Be warned

Should I be worried?

Politics / Buhari To Use A Commercial Flight To Attend Queen Elizabeth's Funeral In London by BriggsBryan: 10:46am On Sep 12, 2022
Foreign leaders ‘to be bussed to Queen’s funeral as private jets and helicopters banned’
Restriction of one leader and partner per country due to capacity constraints at Westminster Abbey

Foreign heads of state and their partners attending the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II have been asked to arrive in the UK on commercial flights and have been banned from using helicopters to move around the capital.
In addition, they have been told they will not be able to use their own official cars to attend the funeral, scheduled for Monday 19 September, but will instead be bussed to Westminster Abbey from a site in west London en masse, Politico reports.

Official documents obtained by the outlet circulated to embassies on Saturday also confirmed that only the heads of state and their partner from each country have been invited.
The official capacity of Westminster Abbey is 2,200 people, and it is expected to be full to the point that having more than one senior representative for each nation plus a spouse would be untenable.

The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office said in the protocol document that it “regrets that, because of limited space at the state funeral service and associated events, no other members of the principal guest’s family, staff or entourage may be.

Those heads of state unable to attend are asked to choose another representative such as a head of government or senior minister.
King Charles III will host a reception for overseas leaders at Buckingham Palace on Sunday 18 September, the evening before the funeral.

In addition, heads of state are invited to attend the lying-in-state of the queen’s body, and sign the condolence book at Lancaster House immediately afterward.
While at Lancaster House, they will also be able to deliver a tribute to the late queen of up to three minutes, which will be recorded for the media.

Respect for the late Queen should be balanced with the functioning of our politics
The Queen’s death sees Britain both reflecting on the past and embracing the future
Thousands line Queen’s coffin route to pay final respects in Scotland
On the day of the funeral, there will be tight security and road restrictions across much of central London and therefore heads of state have been told to meet at a site in west London from where they will be escorted to the abbey in coaches.

After the service, foreign leaders are invited to attend a reception hosted by Foreign Secretary James Cleverly at Dean’s Yard, within the grounds of the abbey, to which they will be escorted on foot.
They will then be returned to the site in west London by coach to collect their cars.
“Multiple and comprehensive layers of security will be in place across London and at all the official venues used for the state funeral and associated events,” another FCDO document states that details logistics for those traveling from overseas.

It further warns that“because of the extensive ceremonial programme related to the state funeral and the logistical challenges, requests for bilaterals will not be considered on this occasion,” in line with the rules of the government’s mourning period.
There is also a warning that where possible foreign leaders should arrive in the UK on commercial flights as there will be no arrangements made for private aircraft at London’s Heathrow Airport.

Instead, it is recommended that planes are routed to less busy airports around the capital. The document also warns that the use of helicopters to transfer from airports to other venues is banned due to the expected congestion in the region’s airspace — notably there is also a warning that “unforeseen events may require commercial and private flights to divert from the intended airport of arrival”.
The reports of the protocol information from the FCDO come shortly after the White House confirmed that President Joe Biden has officially accepted an invitation to the state funeral and will be attending with first lady Jill Biden.
There has been much speculation as to whether there might be a more sizeable US delegation similar to that at the funeral of Nelson Mandela in South Africa in December 2013.

On that occasion, President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama were joined by former president George W Bush and his wife, Laura; Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state; and several senior White House advisers. Former President Jimmy Carter also attended the funeral.
Others who joined them were the attorney general, Eric Holder, national security adviser Susan Rice and economics adviser Valerie Jarrett.

Former presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton and his daughter, Chelsea Clinton, travelled separately. Beyond that, two dozen US lawmakers also flew out to South Africa.
Judging by the tone of the FCDO document, such a large delegation seems highly unlikely for the Queen’s funeral — though this is not yet confirmed — but it does neatly sidestep the looming question of whether former presidents including Donald Trump would be able to go and the potential awkwardness of having two such bitter political rivals in attendance.
The Bidens would likely arrive on Air Force One, as the aircraft can land at RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk.

Despite its status as a Royal Air Force base, it primarily supports United States Air Force operations and is currently the home of the 100th Air Refueling Wing.

Sports / Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Sacked As Man Utd Manager After Watford Defeat by BriggsBryan: 12:50pm On Nov 21, 2021
Manchester United have parted ways with club legend Solskjaer after he failed to restore the club to their former glories and win a single piece of silverware

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked as Manchester United manager after their humiliating defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road.
The Norwegian has been dismissed after facing mounting pressure in recent weeks as a result of United's dismal run of form.
Man Utd shipped 13 goals to Aston Villa , Everton , Leicester City , Liverpool and Manchester City in that time - four of those fixtures played at home.
Back-to-back home defeats to arch-rivals Liverpool and City left Solskjaer clinging onto his job with Old Trafford bosses opting to stick with him during the most recent international break.
However, after yet another sorry performance under his stewardship, which saw the Hornets dominate on their way to a 4-1 win, the axe has fallen on the Norweigan.
HAVE YOUR SAY! Have Man Utd made the correct decision? Let us know in the comments
Given the level of financial backing Solskjaer received in the summer, many had tipped United for their first Premier League title in eight years - yet they already appear out of the title race.
News of Solskjaer's sacking comes just a few months after he was handed a three-year contract extension as a result of last season's second-place league finish.
The former United player was at the helm for just under three years, before having his reign cut short.

Cristiano Ronaldo's part in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's imminent Man Utd sacking
United have confirmed that Michael Carrick will take over in the immediate aftermath, before they search for an interim boss until the end of the season.
A statement on the club's official site reads: "Ole will always be a legend at Manchester United and it is with regret that we have reached this difficult decision.
"While the past few weeks have been disappointing, they should not obscure all the work he has done over the past three years to rebuild the foundations for long-term success.
"Ole leaves with our sincerest thanks for his tireless efforts as Manager and our very best wishes for the future. His place in the club’s history will always be secure, not just for his story as a player, but as a great man and a Manager who gave us many great moments.
"He will forever be welcome back at Old Trafford as part of the Manchester United family.
"Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for forthcoming games, while the club looks to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season."
