EducationRe: 7 English Words Nigerians Use Everyday Which Don't Exist. by BrightEye(op): 9:25pm On Feb 05, 2016
musicwriter:
These are all correct English words invented by Nigerians!. My people, go ahead and use them!.

By the way, what has been the contribution of this writer to our native languages?. In what way has this author contributed to the development of Igbo language?. How has he helped develop Yoruba language?. How about Hausa, Efik, Ibibio, Tiv, Igala, Bini, Nupe, Fulani?. Name them!.

English language originated from illiterates who couldn't speak French and German fluently. That's why it's such an illogical useless language. English language was once spoken as pidgin, exactly as our own pidgin is today!. It only became an official language in 1362 or there about.

Don't be scared to invent new words and use them in Nigeria. Lexicon in English itself allow a given society or even individuals to create their own word, as long as you can define it. That's the nature of languages, especially English.

The origin of English language.............. coming, wait
hmmn! you make points anyway.

Disvirgin should be added to dictionary. I mean mainstream dictionaries like oxford or Webster.

Though, not only Nigerians use disvirgin. it's even in some online dictionary.

It sounds more meaningful than disflowered .. Which flower she carry wey you dey dis .. Mtchewww
each English word has its own inherent meaning.
Education7 English Words Nigerians Use Everyday Which Don't Exist. by BrightEye(op): 8:38am On Feb 05, 2016
Here are 7 words Nigerians use every day which don’t exist. These are the kind of words you type into your phone or computer and it draws a red line underneath it. Please read on and educate yourself.

(1.) GO- SLOW Although the word ‘go-slow’ appears in the dictionary, it is wrongly used by many Nigerians. The word go-slow means a form of industrial action in which work or progress is deliberately delayed or slowed down. It does not mean congested traffic, so it is wrong to use it in that way.

(2.) INSTALMENTALLY There is no such word in the English dictionary, this word exists only in the Nigerian edition dictionary (if such a book exists). The correct thing to say is ‘in installments’

(3.) OPPORTUNED How many times do you say ‘I was not opportuned to come’? The correct variants that exist are ‘opporteune’ or ‘opportunity’. The word ‘opportune’ has no past tense.

(4.) CUNNY “That guy is very cunny”. This is wrong, the word is ‘cunning’, not cunny. If you want to refer to someone who is sly or deceitful, use the word ‘cunning’, ‘cunny’ simply does not exist.

(5.) WAKE-KEEPING I’m sure most people will argue with this, but argue as you may, what you will find in the dictionary is ‘wake- keep’. (

6.) SCREENTOUCH PHONE Oyinbo people made these devices and called it ‘touchscreen’, by the time the phones go enter Naija, we rename them ‘screen touch’

(7.) DISVIRGIN No, you did not dis virgin that babe, you deflowered her, you took away her virginity, but you certainly did not disvirgin her, because the word ‘disvirgin’ simply does not exist!

afternoon nairalanders, or should I say nounites .....
pls I am new here and am admission seeker at NOUN who need help by getting answer to the following question from you as noun students.

my question is how will noun verify my ssce results that I intend to use for admission ? the reason I ask this is because I only have school's statement result of my waec, and I am currently living very faraway from from where I completed my ssce. Almost impossible for me to collect any document from my secondary school. so can someone tell me if the statement of result can work? also I have forgotten my exam number and other numbers, with which I can use to access my result online and print it out using scratch card. so pls will the statement of result I have with me work? Thanks.

Africans and their warped sense of reasoning.... Why can't you just understand it that your time has not reached? Thanking God for sparing your life through mystical means is like also thanking God for not saving those people on the bus! Or is he no longer the almighty? What do you think will be the fate of the relatives of the people who died? Are you aware some of them might be bread winners? The fact is that their time is up and their fate decided. If she was alone in her car and was saved from accident, her post would have been somehow understandable...

Young lady, just be happy that you are alive! Simple... If your time don reach, even if you like loose ten million naira in that park, you will be on that bus....

That was how a bomb went off in a Church in the North and a foool came to facebook to thank God for making his mum not wake up for the morning service... Thereby saving her. Meanwhile, hundreds died in the same church that day oo... Which is ironically, "The House Of God"
if the girl boarded the bus, their was probability the accident could be averted.

Although these stories are fantastic, they MAY just be true. I heard of a couple that divorced after the first night because the groom wanted to squeeze toothpaste out of the tube by holding the bottom, while the bride insisted that it should be squeezed by holding the neck. undecided

When they could not reach a compromise, the groom told the bride she was stubborn woman and he couldn't live with such a woman for the rest of his life.

Na so marriage end o undecided
hey, I heard of this story too. somebody told me just last week.
