SlimVicktor: aaaaaah.. nor b world war 3 laa wey una attack me like that.. Anyway can i apply for a uni as an undergrad with waec instead of SAT well it actually depends on the University requirements, but is much more advisable to take a test cos you can get funding and it will also show to the vo that you're a serious student.but they're some schools that do not require any sat, you can search on Google.....hope it helps |

BigBenoski: I thank God almighty for my visa approval today. I'm also grateful to all posters on here for their contributions, and to rhemmie91 who took out time to always respond to my emails.
Appointment time: 9.00am Time of arrival : 8:58 am visa approval: 11......something (checking my watch was my least concern at that point)
Interview transcript Me: Hi goodmorning (hands him my passport) VO: Hi goodmorning, how are you? Me: good VO:Please hand me your 1-20 and sevis receipt Me: hands him the requested documents VO: tell me about your plans me: I'm going to bla d bla university to study for a PhD in biology. I will be working on bat ecology. VO: looks at me as if he's expecting me to continue Me:Returns the look with my mouth shut VO: biotechnology you say? Me: nope! Bat ecology VO: ok are there many bats in nigeria? me: yeah. At the last IUCN count, abt 80+ but from our recent research, we've been able to discover about 10 new records. so we are currently updating the list. VO: What genus are bats under? Me: (hesitates) Did you mean order? because there are lots of genus under bats. (Gave him a basic lecture on binomial nomenclature). You understand? vo: uhmmm yeah, I just wanted you to correct me Me: Oh okay VO: is there a name people studying bats are called? Me: Nah! we just call ourselves bat biologist VO gives me lecture about the right time to enter the US)
PS: sometimes applicants run into problems when they talk too much. I think its better to just keep your answers short, drive the discussion by subtly introducing a catchy word that would steer the interview to the path you feel comfortable talking about. In my case, I could have just stopped at 'I'm going to bla d bla university to study for a PhD in biology' but that'll blow the interview wide open. He could then ask you anything under the sun. To forestall that, I gently introduced him to bats (which I love talking about) and he took the bait.
When you talk too much, you unknowingly dish out too many "catchy" words, and may God help you if he/she chooses the one you are not comfortable talking about. A good example was this guy before me. Dude was reeling out words, and mentioned that he was going to the US to learn some innovative technologies in medical science. VO jumped at that part and asked him what kind of innovative technology. Dude was thrown off-balance. He stuttered and said 'autoclave'. that was when I knew he'd be denied. VO said, 'but autoclave has been around for decades'.... the rest is history.
Final shot: don't forget to pray before you go for your interview. All the best to everyone to to the white house soon. congrats |

Walspring: Okay.. Are you saying there is an option on the site that someone will click and won't upload then submit the ds160 form without uploading photo I actually tried to upload the passport photograph but my photograph do not meet the requirements so I saw proceed without photograph at the down side of the application, I clicked on it so I was told to bring a passport photograph. So I was asked to sign my application |

Walspring: You uploaded your photograph But you said it's not compulsory but why did you upload it then Lemme ask to be sure is it for school app or visa app you upload it because of your previous post. lol, I uploaded it for visa, what I read from the app was that I can actually bring a passport photograph to the embassy since I decided to proceed without posting my photograph |

rogerdavid: I think you should specify what you want to a good photographer who deals in this. I got one who snapped the 2' by 2' or 5cm x 5cm (as the passport photographs are traditionally called) for me. I uploaded this and it was successful. Thanks to don4ye who put me through this. And I remember vividly that I didn't have to bring out the hard copies at the embassy for any reason. And thanks to the gurus here who also saved me some cash by letting me beforehand that with the right prep, I didn't need to pay anyone at the embassy entrance for anything. so please get a photographer who can snap the right photo for you. Good luck thanks boss, I will get a good photographer and make the description of the passport, very well |

sofadj: Check the Size of the picture you are trying to atttach. it shouldnt be more than a specific kb ( i think 256 or so). That being said, it doesnt really matter as you are still required to come with a white-background passport to the embassy. If you cant get a good photographer near you, prepare 1k for the photographers (hustlers) at the embassy entrance who are more than aware of the embassy requirement. thanks |

bigfrancis21: I'm not sure you need to do that anyway, except if the rules have recently changed. Instead, you are supposed to staple the photograph physically to the printed out DS160 form after filling it out and submitting. Correct me if I'm wrong. I was asked to upload it directly on application form |

DareFadi: Have you checked emirate and if its one way then yes you can get just slightly below 200k yes the one I'm seeing is #300k may be I will check very well |
Travel › Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 9 by brightify: 10:14am On May 28, 2016 |
DareFadi: Bus will be very stressful .... u can always fly in to lets say emirate to dallas for 200k... that flight gets into dallas at 9am. Then book a one way flight for like 3 hours later (giving u enough time ) to St Paul. One way should be less than $150:. So really look any flight into us and then book a local flight. Most local flights don't cover baggages so if ur emirate flight has 2 bags that might be an additional $50 to cover your bags on a local flight Even if you land in Chicago, there would be flights from Ord to st pauls .... no need to change airport. Look at only the direct flights from that airport. It would still be less than $150 . please can someone get a flight at #200k to Houston from lagos |
