Nigerian senator and former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu is not happy with Nigerian youths as he has taken to his official Facebook page to lament the level at which the youths insult elders in the country.

It all started when the Senate Chief Whip took to Facebook to lament Man United’s  4-0 loss to Brentford on Saturday, August 14, saying “for the first time in 84 years Manchester United suffered a heavy defeat to Brentford.
“Definitely not a good time for Man U and its fans, I hope they get back on track and on time as one can only imagine what will happen when they face Liverpool next week.”

Well, as usual, Facebook users stormed the comment section to mock the APC chieftain, saying his party will be defeated like Manchester United in the 2023 presidential election.

A brother to the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose’s brother, has asserted that Peter Obi will not win the presidential election if he is not prepared to expend between 30 to 50 billion Naira.

Fayose said the Labour party nominee is very famous and being discussed by Nigerians, but if he does not expend a minimum of N30bn then he will be elected president of Nigeria.

He said the party would need agents in all polling units on election day and they would also have to get people to represent LP as mobilizers.

According to the past governor’s brother, Obi and his party would have to spend a fraction of at least N300k at N10k per agent in units across the country.

“I am making this announcement, so that the public is clear that we are both pursuing separate lives. We still have issues that need to be addressed such as the custody and wellbeing of our children, which is paramount, as well as business interests which need to be disentangled. But, I have no doubt that these will be resolved one way or the other.”

A number of children, who were suspected to be kidnapped victims, had been found in an underground cell of a church in Valentino Area of Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The heinous activity of the church was blown open on Friday night when residents of the area besieged the church.

It was learnt that the children were allegedly kidnapped and kept in the underground apartment of the church.
A source said the victims were over 50 while the police had rescued them and arrested the pastor and some members of the church.

Lawyer appears before court in pastoral robe days after his colleague stormed court in ‘Juju Priest’ attire

A Nigerian lawyer, Ogbachalu Goshen, today July 1, appeared before the Okpoko Magistrate Court in the Ogbaru Local Government Area, in Anambra State, dressed like a priest.

A mild drama played out in the court as the magistrate, CB Mbaegbu, refused to hear him on grounds that he was not formally dressed. Goshen, in return, disagreed with the magistrate, citing the recent Supreme Court judgement that gave female students the backing to wear hijab in public schools as a precedent.

He also insisted that it was his right, adding that the objection by the Magistrate was an infringement on his fundamental rights as enshrined in Section 38 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Not backing down, the Magistrate rose up, thereby forcing the court to dismiss immediately.

Speaking to journalists, Goshen stood his ground noting that the incident had already become a constitutional matter since the Supreme Court’s ruling that allows the use of hijab in public schools and facilities. The lawyer said the court needs to answer what its position would be if it were a female Muslim lawyer who entered the court in her hijab.

He further noted that he is an ordained pastor and should also be allowed to appear that way in court since the Supreme Court’s decision on the hijab matter is that it is allowed.

When asked if the Supreme Court ruling is in the best interest of the judiciary, he said that for now, it remains a precedent that must be obeyed unless there is a judicial review.
