#FUELPRICETHEORY2 Someone called me and say my degree should be revoked for my analysis simply because he assumed I forgot that there are about 12 products of more explored aside from PMS from a barrel of crude. Okay. I will make a simple analysis. How many litres is 5 litres of Mobil oil? Am talking of lubricant engine oil. I've seen the one of N45,000.. and that is just 5 litres. It is still the same cost of production that applies to the price of the gallon. And by the way, I closed it by saying, get the understanding before you fight, I did not say you should not fight🙄 |

The cost of production is the major end determinant of the price of a commodity. Production costs can include a variety of expenses, such as labor, raw materials, consumable manufacturing supplies, and general overhead. Having understood this, let us use the brent price of crude oil which is the international buying and seller price per a barrel of crude oil to calculate and realize the true cost of petrol per liter. Take aways ¶ There are 119.24 litres in a barrel of crude lil ¶ A barrel of crude is sold at $74.33 (remember I said the cost of production determines the price). So, if our official exchange rate is N1,6238.27 per $1USD Then we multiply the exchange rate by the price of a barrel of crude; N1,638.27 x $74.33 = N121,772.60 This gives us One hundred and Twenty One Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seventy Two Naira, Sixty Kobo So when we divide the price of a barrel of crude in Naira value by how many litres per a barrel of crude; N121,772.6091 ÷ 119.24 = N1,021.23 per litre of petrol So, if there is any argument you want to make, first get the true picture of how this administration arrived at this price per a litre of petrol.
