NYSCRe: Batch B 2013 Corpers Posted To Edo Lets Meet. Thanks by brownlord: 8:45pm On Jun 22, 2013
demmy55: Some things you said are wrong. I'm currently serving in Edo. Agenebode to be precise which is 45mins drive from Auchi.

The first problem corpers will encounter is the camp. Okada camp is in a bad condition and we are in the rainy season; which makes it worse.

The people I've come across here are very tight fisted. Most of them farm and fish but they never remember to give their corper any food stuff. We buy all our food stuff ourselves.
We are even the ones that give some of their children food when they are hungry and the worst part is that they keep coming almost everyday. I've started chasing them away sef.

My PPA which is a secondary school is to pay the corpers 3K monthly but they are failing in their responsibility. We always have to complain, write letters to their Chief before we are paid. I'm owed for 4months now; they are waiting for me to complain again. angry

So Brownlord, what point are you trying to make here? undecided
Thanks man for service to my state, and also thank you for feeding the children, do you really expect the poor farmers to be giving you their products for free when they dont have other source of income? bros you must be a learner,

about the camp that i already admitted i know okada camp is not good, but there are many state with worst camp, e.g imo where they dont even camp in any school. very many others are lacking behind.

About your PPA and LG. you are in agenebode, 45 mins from auchi, and auchi is about 1.hr 20 mins from benin, bro you are about 2 hours away benin compare to me, am just 15 mins away from the state capital here, am in ifelodun, just 100 naira on a bus to osogbo, sometimes i take bike, and most of the things you complain of happen in my place too, am sure there even the poor farmers can atleast speak pidgin english to you if not correct english, but here you need go in comapny of someone who speaks and understand yoruba when transacting, delay in alawee is everywhere, even Osun state that pays, is after 7 months,

And to all those saying edo state govt. dont pay, its because the state dont pay that why your PPA is paying, for the state that are paying, you are not entitle to any money from PPA, i.e Osun, PPA dont pay that why aregbe pay 5k, so you see its almost the same,

@demmy55, what am trying to say, is that the edolite are hospitable, if am lying please prove me wrong.
social life, is not as dead as where i am here, even in agenebode there are good place you can still relax, am sure there are restaurant where you can atleast eat good food, before NYSC, i dont cook even while in school, but i started it here not because i do not have money to eat in a restaurant or fast food, but no good place to eat here, so bro you see edo is not as bad as boqee is thinking that all am saying sir

booqee: shuoooo! Wetin be all dis?? We dey fight b4 ni??
LOL, na serious fight ooooo, anyway what exactly is the complain of ur cousin, auchi is a student enviroment, the only problem there is water, the place is lively, cost of living is okay, and the people too are accommodating, no worry after ur 3 wks, when you guys must hv settled in ur different PPA, try and contact most of ur friends and know what they say abt their state, then u will appreciate ever been posted to the"HEART BEAT OF THE NATION" anyway wish yall successful camping
NYSCRe: Batch B 2013 Corpers Posted To Edo Lets Meet. Thanks by brownlord: 1:41pm On Jun 22, 2013
booqee: Gud morning pals. Still don't know how to get to edo from lagos. Hopefully, when this thread get to front page, we'll get help. The things i've been hearing bout the state sef na die. My cousin serving dere says the camp is so dirty and a complete write off.
Hv bn followin u up since, hw uv bn complaining abt edo, hv u ever bn to osun before? Since its ur preferred state of service, my dear edo is far better than osun, as am from edo and presently serving in osun, ifelodun precisely, the only advantage osun hv over edo is the state alawe, 5k and edo dont pay state alawee, also i head okada camp is just a primary/secondary school they r using, and osun hv a permanent site, and its a little conducive, outside that my dear, edo is far better than osun,

How i wish its possible for one to change state of service during service yr, i would hv preferred u do 6 months in edo and come do the remaining months in osun, the edo's are accomodating compare to osun, where u will be easily identified if not an indegene of the place or if u dont understand yoruba, 80 percent of edolite english, at worst, pidgin in english, in osun, its almost yoruba their official language, osun is a muslim state, even if they try to paint it as not, most of aregbe policies says so, schools in edo are far better than what u hv in osun, due to oshiomole's hard work, hw i wish i can send photos of my school and many others to u, the student here hardly speak english, edo an average student in the village can speak pidgin, even some corpers here, that r yorubas do teach their student and explain in yoruba, social life in osun is dead, u need to create fun for urself, everywhere in edo is a no dullin place no matter the LGA u posted, the only problem u hv, is the new ban on bikes in some LG in benin,

If am wrong kindly tell me the advantage osun have over edo, will be waitin to hear thank God, there is som1 in osun on this thread going to edo, if am lying let him challenge me.

Boqee stop bad mouthing my state, make i no go vex say make them push u go one village

Princesstessy: Gudmorin Booquee, hay! U re scarying me. Moreover i dont even my way to camp from Osun state
Most of u when asking for help, only say the state u r traveling from witout saying ur exact location, osun is a big state, where exactly r u, for example, if u r in ifetedo that share boundary wit ondo, it will be easy for u, instead of someone giving u directive from osogbo where u hv to first come to osogbo and the vehicle will still go and follow where u r comin from, so u pple shld always state ur city, town or LGAa in ur respective state so one can help wit the closest park, as for u in osun

From old garage, in osogbo, there is a park going to benin from there, its about 2k plus, they will take u tru okada, stop @ okada junction then stro enter ur camp, u going from my state of service osun to my state of residence edo, all the best man

Donmams: OP don't waste your breath. These christians have already been brainwashed by pastor ayo oritsejafor and his fellow pentecostal crooks to hate buhari. It's a shame we can't depend on christians to transform this country as they keep giving us one bad leader after another. I have asked my christian friends since they hate buhari for being a muslim, why can't they give nigeria a christian who can turn this country like buhari can. The answer is deafening silence. The christian flock is lost. Shame.

CrimeRe: See What A Father Did To His 13 Months Old Daughter by brownlord: 6:27am On Jun 22, 2013
Etumgbe: The father of the little girl said he flogged her with the cord of his handset charger because she was disturbing him from watching TV. The mother thinks the marks on her daughter’s back were for ritual purposes. But let’s even accept he only flogged her; how can you flog a 1 year old like this?  Read the full story from Vanguard below…

Vanguard Metro, gathered that Huwaila Abdulahi, 22, who has been separated from her husband, is asking the Commission to investigate and unravel the mystery behind the strange marks all over the back of her 14 months old daughter. Although the estranged housewife is not seeking for a divorce, she is demanding for justice for her innocent baby as the 14 marks were not there when the father sent one Ibrahim to bring the little girl to spend some time with him.

The man, identified as Ibrahim Haladu, is being accused of carrying out a ritual on his child. He has been invited by the Commission to explain the strange marks on his daughter’s back. But he is insisting  that he only flogged his daughter with the cord of his handset charger. He denied that the marks were for ritual purposes.

In spite of his statement, many people who saw the strange marks on the child were not convinced of his testimony as they  believed they were carefully incised.

In his account of the incident, Ibrahim said: “I was watching an Arab channel but she would not let me be with her cries. I was enjoying the programme, but her cries kept distracting me. I was provoked so I brought out my charger phone wire and flogged her. My first wife Aisha who heard her cries came out and was shouting at me to stop. She was even angry and rebuked me for beating her like that. I regret my action.

The marks on my daughter’s body is not  for ritual purposes as wrongly insinuated by some people. I can never use my child for ritual. It is unfortunate that my wife had to drag me to the Sharia Commission because she has a grouse against me. We have been having problems with her, but that is between us. Why should I go to the extent of using my child for ritual? I only beat her as a father. I don’t belong to any cult or secret society”.

Some residents of the Tirwun, a suburb of Bauchi, where Ibrahim allegedly carried out the beating  of his baby were left in shock on seeing Sahura with the 14 strange marks on her back. They called for thorough investigation into the case so as to unravel the motive behind his action.

Ibrahim moved to his house in Tirwin with his first wife, Aisha leaving his second wife, Huweila with his parents. Hajiya Huwaila told VM that  her husband occasionally comes to pick Sahura to spend some time with him since they were not living together. According to her: “My husband, his first wife and I lived with his parents at Bakin Kura before he moved with his first wife to Tirwun, leaving me and my daughter Sahura behind.

But he occasionally comes to take the baby to spend some time with him in his new place and bring her back. One day he sent one Ibrahim to come and bring Sahura; this was around one in the afternoon. But when they brought back my daughter, I noticed something unusual about her because she kept crying and I wondered what was wrong with her.

When I checked her body, I saw some strange marks all over her back”. Huwaila said she quickly rushed to the Bauchi State Shari’ah Commission to lodge a complaint after she confronted her husband who claimed he only flogged Sahura because she was disturbing him with her cries.

The permanent Commissioner II of the State Shari’ah Commission, Jibril Hassan, confirmed that Huwaila lodged a complaint prompting the commission to summon the husband. Hassan added  that the commission was investigating the issue and would charge the father of the girl to court at the appropriate time. He also said that if found guilty of the accusations leveled against him, the accused would be charged to court.
