CultureRe: Why Are Nigerian Men Intimidated By The Strong Independent Black Woman? by btayo1(m): 2:40pm On Nov 07, 2007
@ Poster; Is this to say that women are not intimidated by Strong Financially independant Nigerian Men; Would the women in the forum say that they have not come across any of there female friends discarding a guy because is he's ready made. The Nigerian Man; a known fact is not easily intimidated by anybody- ask other african nationals or african american, carribean men. The bottomline in any relationship is the depth of love and mutual respect amongst the couple; if this exist then both partners will work for common good without anybody feeling belittled. I have seen alot of cases where the wife is the breadwinner and the family units still functioning fine, It a bils down to the individuals involved. The more successful a woman is - the higher the bride price
CultureRe: Nigerian Men And The '2nd Wife Or More' - Culture Or Modern Day Infildelity? by btayo1(m): 1:43pm On Nov 07, 2007
@Just Good; there is no put attacking the poster; did you read the content of the post; even with a legal marriage; the guy can still bring in a second wife but not marry the second wife legally and if the legal wife does not like she can opt for a divorce. In the UK and USA, there are cases of polygamy disguised in various forms.
@ Poster, for a nigerian man having a second wife is not trendy these days in society, it is been replaced by having extra-marital affairs- hence Aristos & Sugardaddy

RomanceRe: You Saw Her Through Her Education Now She Elopes With Another Man! by btayo1(m): 12:40pm On Nov 07, 2007
Supporting once girlfriend financially whilst she is @ school is something most guys would do; as there is nothing wrong in it and in most cases stands to be beneficial to the couple later in life. A guy sees it as an investment in the future (both his & hers) but if the girl decide to leave the guy- Well I for one would be glad she left no matter the extent of my investment on her- than getting married and she leaving (because divorce with or without prenuptials is expensive) or seeing another guy on the side; before we go on blasting the girl- it might not be that she stayed with the guy just for his financial support, it could be that the relationship went sour when she got to uni - and there is a thousand and one reasons that can lead to this. As someone said earlier the guy got no guilt.

@ Poster- Until you give the clear picture we can only assume
RomanceRe: Family Tradition:she Must Be A Month Preganant Before Marriage by btayo1(m): 12:20pm On Nov 07, 2007
@ mellow; well said, It is born out of fear of Guys Parent (note could be also Girls family) in regards to the girls ability to bear children forgetting that it takes two to tango; definitely not custom or tradition as in the past girls are married of at quite a young age and as mostly virgins- so they cant be pregnant before marriage and in most cases it is considered loose to engage in sex before marriage.

@ Poster in you allow such; will you require such from your children; the first point is do you think is right ? if you dont think it is right then you are the one getting married (being the MAN) and the decision on when or when not to have kids should be you guys decision as the sole responsibility for the kids depends on you.
RomanceRe: Do Cute Girls Avoid Cute Guys? by btayo1(m): 5:46pm On Nov 06, 2007

PoliticsRe: A Sweet Wind Of Change Is Blowing In Nigeria! by btayo1(m): 4:48pm On Nov 06, 2007
@ Aisha & all, Lets not deceive ourself there is no wind of change blowing anywhere in nigeria; since the inception of YAR' ADUA govt; nothing has changed the things that his main actions are all part of the OBJ script. Case in point the reversal of fuel price and VAT, was all scripted by the cunning nigeria politicians to endear YAR' ADUA to the nigerian public if not why would god OBJ wait till the eve of his leaving to make such pronouncement. These Guys are just playing politics with us. YAR' ADUA is a product of an arrangement between OBJ and babangida to look after their own interest.
BusinessRe: Be Careful About Buying These Banks Stocks! by btayo1(m): 3:54pm On Nov 06, 2007
@socrates08; dont you think you are contradicting yourself as most of the case coy stated above involved american coy under the nose & watchful US regulatory bodies. If this could happen under such so called tranparent economies and not be discovered until after immense damaged has been done; then we should not discount the NSE or the Banks. Whilst investing there is always the caveat- "You should not invest money you cannot afford to lose". Even if there are proven case of proven book cooking in NSE; that does mean that every coy in the NSE is bad or should keep people away from NSE as people are still investing in the american markets.

Also below is an excerpt from the punch today attributed to lagos Gov in regards to lagos state becoming a mega city- this shows that there are projects that can be financed by these banks that will yield good ROI
He said, “Our detailed and meticulous studies show, for instance, that an investment of $100m in the infrastructure needed for our Bus Rapid System will yield an annual revenue of at least $50m.

“And about $787m will be required as investment in our rail transportation infrastructure, with projected annual revenue of $400m.”
PoliticsRe: Okiro Summons Adedibu Over Oyo Crisis by btayo1(m): 6:28pm On Nov 05, 2007
We know that it is a peace/plead meeting i.e Police I.G pleading with Oyo god of Peace (Adedibu) for peace to reign; whether this god accepts is left to be seen but one thing is sure that Time is running out for the old mischief maker considering his age and there is a Greater God. Where is Abacha today?
PoliticsRe: African Woman Set Herself Ablaze Over Racism by btayo1(m): 6:12pm On Nov 05, 2007
I do agree that her actions is a drastic; but we should not forget the issue she is highlighting; we should also consider and try to find out what sort of situations that she must have been subjected to; being tormented and subjected to inhumane situations could lead even the most sane of us to take actions that we wouldnt normally do. Am not justifying her actions in any way. We could liken this to our brothers in the niger situation taking up arms and sorts; if they have not been deprived for so long; most of these our would not be engaging in such.
PoliticsRe: New Speaker Appointed- Honourable Dimeji Bankole by btayo1(m): 6:01pm On Nov 05, 2007
Mr Bankole emergence is good news, as we now have well educated leadership at the top; hope they will collectively bring the knowledge to bear in leading the nation forward; For those complaining about bankole, please give the guy a chance and pray for him as i dont think anyone can say that Bankole for all he's perceived shortcomings (if we want to quantify being single and 4years house experience as that) is not better qualified than Etteh by any yardstick. Another point he emerged from a democratic process and not imposition; so the 300+ members obliviously seen something in Bankole.

RomanceRe: Why Do Guys Love Dating Unintelligent Girls, Who Aren't That Exposed? by btayo1(m): 3:00pm On Sep 07, 2007
@ Poster

How do you define Intelligence ? does high level of education make one intelligent- intelligence is a matter of perspective and context someone who is intelligent in a context may be deem unintelligent in another context
How do you define Exposure ? This same goes for exposure

I utterly dislike ur assumption about guys, and i believe people that make such assumptions make it to feel better than others and the only way they make up for the own failings is to let others feel inferior- quite common amongst Nigerians.

There are many factors that affects the choice of girls that a guy chooses to date e.g Physique, Circumstance, Convenience, wealth, health, education e.t.c and these factors have different degree of importance to different guys.
PoliticsRe: Supreme Thief Alams Gets An Overwhelming Welcome From His People by btayo1(m): 1:06pm On Sep 06, 2007
Reading Through opinions expressed on this topic truly reflect why Nigeria is where it is today; when a convicted criminal and self profess criminal receives a hero welcome. Let argue constructively here
1. Alams is not the only person against OBJ's third term; Tinubu also a gov was against It and am not saying tinubu is clean but he was not arrested in london for money laundering except the likes of @ Ono & co want us to say that OBJ instructed the metropolitan police from Aso Rock.

2. Alams has admitted to his wrong doing and has served his term as instructed by the law (even though some might find he's sentence too lenient) this should have been the end of story but No. If he was a sensible man and has any respect for his people, and the nation and judiciary he would have refused to be part of the celebration or kicked against the welcome because what is wrong is wrong, the welcome party is a slap in the face for every Nigerian and surprised that the press and other imminent Nigerians have not come out in the national diallies to openly criticize and disown those who were behind the shameful and utterly despicable Act .

3. For those who argue that He did alot for bayelsa or better than other bayelsa govts; well i would like want to argue that because it not worth it; but my stand is that the day he started looting bayelsa he rubbished and undid whatever purported goodworks people say he did.

We need to set an example to the coming generation and we cannot be taken seriously in the comity of nations if such shameful acts are allowed to continue imagine what the British govts and the london mets will be thinking about Nigeria- and one wonders why we are seen as a nations of corrupt people.

Also I think the Nigerian judiciary has become too lenient and political this days- take the case of a popular Nigerian actress arrested a while ago with cocaine was fine N1M or six moth in prison whilst at the same time a 19yrs old Nigerian boy was executed in Asia for similar offence. Have anyone noticed the increase in drug trafficking cases since the said issue.
PropertiesRe: House Sharing For The Working Class by btayo1(m): 2:01pm On Sep 04, 2007
I think it will be a good idea but apart from the afore mentioned issues such as security; other issues such as bringing additional people to stay within ones space in the shared accommodation would present a problem as this is prevalent in our society. But on the whole it is a good idea as it is been practiced all over the world.
