thanks senior. i wonder whats going on wth some people really. first it was some guy talking about Big Brother on a job forum and when i tried to caution him, he accused me of being ignorant. lets be orderly and not overcongest any forum unnecesarily. its bad enough already that people feel the uncontrollable urge to start a fresh thread on a topic thats already being discussed asking FOR GOD SAKES THE SAME QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!! jeez! |
actually im a big fan of the show, just thought TV program section would have been more appropriate for the post regardless of the far fetched link to Big Brother being some fantastic job opportunity as opposed to sheer exploitation of particpants' behavioral patterns. We might as well discuss all other reality shows here then. there's a reason for categorizing topics on this site i believe. orderliness and unnecessary congestion comes to mind. but to each one his own. |
and u think JOBS section is the best forum to bring this up? ![]() |
i dont mean to pinch u koro but the thing is people seeking info of the type u require here usually say stuff like "does anyone have info on zenith interview format" or any idea what oceanic bank interview is like? u probably may not get more than "a written interview will be a piece of paper with a number of questions for u to answer" , good luck anyways |
now aint that specific? "a consulting firm in nigeria" ![]() |
in recent times definitely 300!!!!!!!! visually captivating but silly punchline |
its a pity. such sillly things are bound to happen. im sure a lot more people didnt get their letters but havent found out yet. anyway keep your fingers crossed. something better will come your way ok. |
300 ranks waaaayyy up there on the list of the most pointless movies ever made. u finish with it and u're like "okay sooo whats the past two hrs been about?" it just isnt enough that the aim was to show how the whole of greece was inspired to rise against the invading persian army. bla bla bal. like a freind pointed out, if the movie had started from where it actually ended , maybe it would have been more fun. however, if u are the type who enjoys gory, visually captivating, chilling and thrilling fight sequences then ud sure enjoy it for that alone. otherwise, its a POINTLESS movie! |
mr kofiannan, i am surprised u find my posts sarcastic. if u read them correctly u will realise they are far from that. u said that i should ask an authority on this matter. well i do not need any more authority than good ole syntax and concord (anyone who passed through high school would know what these mean). syntax deals with the arrangement of words in a sentence and concord deals with tense agreement in a sentence. i said GRAMMATICALLY there is nothing wrong with both expressions as there is simply no grammatical blunder in saying "my names are" . that , mr annan, is my contention!!!!!!!!!! u also emphatically stated that there is NO situation where "my names are" is allowed and i must say that is laughable. for instance , many nigerians have several middle names given to them at birth. they may not necessarily form part of the usual full name that we use. so, if u were asked in a casual conversation "how many middle names do u have?'" and u respond "three". then asked "what are they?" would u then say "my name IS biodun, sola and oluwadamilare". certainly not!!! as that would be grammatically incorrect!!!!! you would say , "my middle names ARE, " or "my other names ARE, " again my point is the GRAMMATICAL structure of both expressions which i believe is the issue. many come here and say "my names are" is incorrect and they have offered absolutely no grammatical analysis as to why it is incorrect. just because an expression sounds funny to the ear or some poorly educated interviewer sneered at you doesnt mean u have said something grammatically incorrect!!!!!!! Popular usage is "my name is" but there is nothing grammatically incorrect in "my names are david ajayi adams" (a forename middle name and surname). READ SOME MORE MR KOFI ANNAN ![]() |
typo: a form that SAYS, ANOTHER. cheers |
listen to yourself "the correct WORD IS "MY NAME IS" and u are very good in english. yet u refer to a clause as a word ![]() |
no need to draw daggers. both expressions are correct!!!! well, in simple and uncomplicated grammatical sense, it is 'my name is". thats why nobody really asks "what are your names?" they simply ask "what is your name?". however "my names are" isnt incorrect at all. its merely being grammatically finicky about the fact that more than one name will follow the clause. this derives from the simple grammatical structure that "are" usually attaches to an expression in a plural sense. as a lawyer, i know that when u depose to affidavits and other overly formal documents, it is common to say "My names are abiodun alao adams, ". so indeed both expressions are correct grammatically speaking but the common and more traditional usage is "my name is" |
actually we were told 3 weeks eventhough they were marking the answer sheets right under our noses. i wonder what the pass mark would be. rumour has it they shortlisted 2000 people for the second test but if the number of days it took to conduct the test and the 3 locations they were conducted are anything to go by , it looks like a whole lot more than 2000 wrote the second test. (i mean there were even two batches for each day it seemed). does anyone know for sure exactly how many people they intend to recruit? also quite a lot of speculation as to how much they pay. the company seems waaaayyyy toooo aloof if u ask me. like some covert renegade team. LOLOLOLOL anyway good luck to everyone. |
well i just got my letter today and im even more confused. i kinda thought lawyers were 31st but my letter says 2nd April and in abuja for that matter!!!!!!!!!!!!!. was hoping i wouldnt have to go through all that hassle for a f, kng test since i wrote the first one in lagos and some lawyers had posted here that they'd be writing the second test at le meredien hotels. well we'll see how it goes |
so we are supposed to go through so much hassle to receive invitation letters for a f**king test? very silly! why cant they just send an email to everyone thats been shortlisted to print out and bring to the test centre or a text message to our phones. so much for being a world class company. this utterly sucks!!!!!!!!!! at the end of the day soooooo many people will not receive the letters and will thus not write the test eventhough they were qualified. |
WTY i wouldnt be quick to say "move on". my freind wasnt contacted by zenith until three and a half months after he wrote their test. he had assumed he'd failed. (probably zenith's characteristic delay is their own way of being sure you REALLY need the job i dont know oooo).he was successful at the interview stages and was eventually offered the job. he turned it down because he simultaneously got what he felt was a better offer from an airline. so WTY i'd suggest you get a contact at zenith to find out your performance at the test (provided you remember when exactly u wrote the test) and to "remind" them that you are still waiting, |
