If US withdraw their support...other world powers like Russia and China will gladly fill that space. The latter are even looking to grow their influence in Africa so its an opportunity they crave. Secondly Nigeria is a leader in Africa and any responsible member of the UN will condemn a move that will surely destabilise the region and disrupt the peace process.
