@medjai No I've not heard of em. Just googled them though and the guitarist is also in A Perfect Circle, a band i used to follow. Will check them out |
I was going through my itunes collection listing those. I like only a few Project 86 songs as well, it's just a list of bands you could sample. Underoath is awesome though. Their drummer (who was also co-lead vocals) left though and is now focused on what was his side project, called The Almost, which is also an amaaaaaaaaazing band. Seventh Day Slumber, i'm also not too convinced beyond Caroline (awesome song) and Break Me (not bad). |
When I'm not listening to metal, I'm most likely listening to Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Amazing band! For KSE fans, their last album was quite weird. Even more unconventional is the new video for the song Save Me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd8RDneREVQ |
G xploit |
sevule:I highly recommend Kids In The Way, Decyfer Down, Fireflight, Disciple, Spoken, Blindside, & Dead Poetic (especially their New Medicines album) Also check out Stavesacre, Staple, Falling Up, Day of Fire, & Seventh Day Slumber. For heavier bands similar to Demon Hunter, check out Project 86, Underoath, Becoming The Archetype, Zao, War Of Ages, & Haste The Day |
For those of you who think that BBC hates Nigeria there's a new BBC documentary (featuring Nigeria) airing this weekend. It's appears much more positive http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00snc3c After four decades of reporting from the continent, Jonathan Dimbleby returns to Africa on a 7,000-mile journey to discover how it is changing. He starts his African journey in the capital of Mali, Bamako, the fastest-growing African city. Following the course of the Niger river, Dimbleby finds not a continent of beggars but of industrious people, some of whom go to extraordinary lengths to make a living, free-diving 20 feet to excavate building sand. Travelling north-east, he sees how tradition is preserved in an area where a sophisticated urban society has thrived for 1,600 years. Jonathan gets his hands dirty as the apprentice of a 74-year-old mud mason in Djenne, a town built entirely of mud. In Ghana, one of Africa's freest and most stable countries, Jonathan sees a spectacular festival before playing a game of golf with the King of the Ashanti, who recalls his time working for Brent council. Dimbleby attends the King's court to see what lessons the UK can draw from traditional African structures that promote harmony and reconciliation. Jonathan discovers that the African brain drain is turning into a brain gain as economic opportunity and patriotism draw people home. Football unites Ghana like nothing else, superseding political and tribal divisions. There is a rich seam of young football talent on the continent in the year that the World Cup is hosted by an African nation for the first time. In Lagos, Nigeria's business capital, Jonathan Dimbleby sees a different take on a city that is often depicted as a hotbed of violence, crime and corruption. He is taken on a private jet by Africa's richest man, then savours the creative talents of two of African music's rising stars who are helping to cement Lagos's place as the continent's cultural hub. |
I heard on BBC that he released a statement today denying the rumours. So it's not happening, although he is an Arsenal fan |
![]() This is a KILLER thread. I literally fell off my seat, laughing. That Odiaero chap walked into an ambush. HILARIOUS!!! NL pple you too much! |
@Medjai Look for a band called God Forbid. They're also black. And then of course there's Killswitch Engage with a black lead singer. @shilling Great taste! I've not followed Skillet since the Collide album. Savior was my fave song. Do you like Flyleaf? I absolutely love Lacey Mosley. She's got a pair of lungs on her. Have you heard of the Whosoevers? It's a mission project by POD, Flyleaf and Head, (and a few other bands). I'd love to go for one of those gigs. |
Actually back in uni i met a bunch of rock fans and only 2 of us could play instruments but we all played together anyway. And now the guys are all really good & they still playing together as a 6-piece band, plus two side projects. So it's great if you have pple you can learn with |
@rocktation Tim is a beast! I love watching their live gigs. Dude you need to listen to more of their stuff. Look for songs like Forever, A Thousand Steps, 94 Hours, & Nothing Left. AILD are simply amazing. I'd love to go for one of their concerts |
@Medjai i recently moved back. Disapponted to find that the rock scene over here is tiny. Is there at least a bunch of rockers & rock bands that meet? If not it'd be great have one |
did u know that one of the Born Of Osiris guitarists is Nigerian? He's called Tosin Abasi. Checked out some of his stuff on youtube. Really good. But i think he only joins them on tour |
@alienyouth You rock \m/ Yeah I also like Norma Jean & Chariot. Check out Opeth (they're a great scandinavian band) There's also a nice south african band called Betray The Emissary. Of the chick-led bands i've only heard Bloodline Caligraphy Sometimes i also like some of the heavier stuff like Cradle Of Filth, Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder etc |
@Rockstation All The THings I Hate is a classic BFMV song, along with Tears Don't Fall. Lamg of God actually isnt Christian, You shuld check them out. They're badass. KSE have the baddest riffs, especially on the song Break The Silence (from the album As Daylight Dies). My fave song of theirs though is Rose Of Sharyn. Have you listened to As I Lay Dying? |
@Ruq fair enough. I appreciate all sub-genres of rock, as well, and i listen to them, but i have a preference for the heavier stuff @Rockstation My bad, you listed Nickleback in the same post so i kinda skipped past it That's cool. I'm a big time Killswitch Engage fan, apart from their newest album, everything else they've done is great, and the lead singer Howard Jones has an amazing voice |
@Ruq LOLwut? Yeah i'm nigerian. Why? Nigerians don't listen to metal? ![]() |
I'm a big fan of Demon Hunter. Plus others like As I Lay Dying, Red, Killswitch Engage, any metal fans out here? Holla |
I couldn't find a thread for metal, so I'll just post mine here. My favourite band is Killswitch Engage. I also like Bring Me The Horizon, Opeth, August Burns Red, As I Lay Dying, It Prevails, Bullet For My Valentine, Lamb of God, Mastodon, etc |
I think that line actually says "Now the people feet soaked in oil" Great song though. Great album as well. I've been listening to it non-stop |
