I won't bore you with long talk but what I'd say is from experience.

You will hardly find a job role that you're happy doing. You will eventually get tired of the monotony, office politics and even your wages after a while. Why? It's simply because companies do not give 2 cents about you or your passions no matter how much they talk about their social values and how they value their employees. Companies only want employees that improve their profit figures.

You can't get it in business as well because your client is your boss and you'd do what they want or you'd run out of business.

You can only follow passion when you have so much you don't need to rely on anyone ever again. And how do you do that?

Make as much money as you can right from yesterday. The earlier you hit your monetary value where you can't go broke again, the better for you. Everyone has their idea of this sum but for me it's a million USD.

If you earn 10% of $1.2m every year by stuffing your money in a hedge fund or something, you can live comfortably anywhere in the world on a salary of $10,000 per month doing absolutely nothing but following your passion.
Hmmm..wise words. Thank you

Toiling away at a job you hate will not only leave you stressed out and dissatisfied with life, it could affect your chances at getting rich because you don't appreciate the outcome.

The wealthiest, most successful people pursue their passions, you should consider doing the same thing in your working days in life. Do what you have passion for, work is fun. Passion defeats education, intelligence, skills, and any other advantage those who lack passion might have in life.

Passion gives you the energy, persistence, and focus needed to overcome failures, mistakes, and rejection. It infuses you with a fanatical tenacity that makes it possible to overcome obstacles and pitfalls that block your path.

Spending more than you make is the fastest and surest road to financial breakdown.
You can't be earning a salary of 50 thousand naira and be driving a car that requires maintenance of 15 thousand naira monthly, it leaves you with 35 thousand naira salary. You have groceries and rent to pay the same month with other little things to do with money. What happened to saving ? What of pursuing opportunities that present themselves. Spending more than you earn and putting saving on your back creates long-term poverty.

Mostly importantly, continue to push! Life must be lived and curiosity must be kept alive. Never ever turn your back on life!!

Thank you for this... I appreciate. I do not plan to resign until I secure an offer elsewhere..I would try to push internally one more time because, i would have loved it here.

What is the essence of doing what you are passionate about and is koto paying you well or paying your dues...

I'm a microbiologist, and I love the job die, but it was not paying me, I had to switch to facility management, and is paying me well more than sitting in a lab or one industry that would be paying me 100k per month...

We all went to school, so that the certificate can give us edge to get paid well, so when the certificate is not serving it purpose, nah to jakapa to where will pay you well...

Shey nah passion go pay your bills ni?
The thing is, I need solid experience in this field I love, in a matter of 2-3 years, I won't be the same. It is a promising career that has worked (and working) for many seniors before me. I'm thinking about the long term. I also think the current bills are not as plenty as they would be in 3-5 years from now.

What is the bigger issue here?

The nature of the job or the nature/work ethic of your colleagues
Thank you very much.. My colleagues are great. The issue is the work itself. I do not want a career that limits me to one industry (especially when there are only two major players alot of the professionals here aim to work at). I do not plan to resign, I'm just concerned if it wise to take a lower pay (in the event I secure one) to actually do what I love especially when it offers diverse career paths.
Jobs/Vacancies / Passion Over Paycheck: Is It Worth Taking A Lower-paying Job To Do What I Love by BunbleBee: 5:57pm On Oct 17, 2023
I currently work in a top firm in the industry as a young graduate and fairly compensated but I seriously do not like the team I'm assigned to. My team members are great but I do not see myself doing what we do in team in many years to come. Additionally, what the team does limits me to this same thing within the industry and the number of opportunities as a whole. The tasks are repetitive and not as technical like I would love. This demotivates me and does not make me actively develop myself in this field. I do not find joy in it. I have tried many times to switch teams but that did not work out for me. I work with members from the team I would like to join and I always wished I was in that team.

I'm determined to change this as early as possible as I believe this is the best time to take risk. I have decided that if I can't switch to my dream team, then I would have to find this dream in another firm (most likely smaller with lesser prestige but with opportunity to learn valuable skills). However, I am confused on if this is a wise decision.

I need your advice on this drastic decision I need to take.

Thank you all

If you are working at Ikoyi, never you think of getting an apartment at Ajah talk more of places like Sangotedo, Ibeju Lekki. You'll get frustrated and mad so fast, you might lose your sanity.

Like lot of people mentioned up there, your best bet is Mainland, places around Ebutte Metta, Yaba, Constain, Oyingbo, Onike. Or Lagos Island places like Adeniji, Tinubu Campus, Bamgbose, CMS.

You can check use this website - nigeriapropertycentre (dot) com - to get an idea of the kind of houses and cost.

Lastly budget 700k for a selfcon of 450k.

Over time before you get married you will understand the cost of living in both areas

Very true especially the food items you mentioned.

Romance / Can We Really Do What We Like With Our Lives? by BunbleBee: 7:05am On Jun 18, 2022
I have heard people saying the following statement too many times, especially when they're been admonished:

"It's my life, I can live it the way I like or do whatever I like with it"

Is this true? Can we really do whatever we like with our lives? How will society look like when everyone does whatever they like because 'it's their lives' ?

Romance / Re: I'm an introvert(a strict one) by BunbleBee: 11:23am On Mar 19, 2022
Truvelisback:
Good day, Fellas. My introvertism is really strange. I rarely mingle with people in a social gathering. I like being alone most times. I hate gossips, busybodies and backbittings, unnecessary laughter or noise. Whenever i see 3 or more people gathering and chatting together, i won't join them. If it's possible for me to take another route for them not to see me or notice me, i would do so but if i noticed that there is no other route except passing where they are, i would greet them and go. I.e how far? Good evening. I don walka be that. But if u are one,two sitting together, i might join u. Anything like three, four or more people, i don walka be. If i am in the house and 3 or 4 people i don't feel like relating to are passing by, i could remain in the house until they pass by b4 i will come out. I rarely make friends and can be very selective making friends. I rarely talk, so quiet but I chose to talk when i want to. I'm loner too.
That's extreme and it's bad. Too much is bad. A time will come when you'll have to open up. No one person can do it alone in life. You'll have to start mingling and relating with people.

If you work in an office, you will have relate wit your colleagues and managers. If you own a business, you'll have to interact , mingle with your customers and promote your business (except you don't want to make money).

See ehn, I am an introvert too and the only upside is, it's helps you mind your business and stay out of trouble. Other than that, you have alot to lose as an [b]extreme[\b] introvert. I have lost out on life-changing opportunities just because "I loved my space" & couldn't network with people that matter.

Though, I have worked (and still working) on it and yes I'm doing fine at my job. Now, If I'm alone, I'm fine. If I'm in a gathering of people discussing, I'm still fine.

So start working on it. You can't help yourself alone in this world. Heavens help people through other people. So loosen up and learn to mingle and socialize( not everybody oo).

Too much of introversion is bad, especially when it comes with lack of social skills like networking and public speaking.

I'm an introvert: I can play and enjoy myself alone, always indoors, few friends and running away from the spotlight.

I have lost out on lot of opportunities just because I couldn't stand up and utter two to three sentences. One of such is when we had a representatives of WHO visit my secondary school. An assembly of all students was held for them to address us. One of the representatives asked a question about hygene. The assembly was silent, I knew the answer but I was scared to speak up. So I told my classmate the answer, he gave the answer and guess what! He won a LAPTOP!

I went home crying and thereafter made a conscious decision to develop myself. Today, I'm still introverted with more improved social skills. I can relate well with people, address a gathering without little or no fright.

On the positive side, introversion has saved me from troubles and rejections. However, it encourages you to remain in your comfort zone which is bad for growth.

So how has the loan company ruined you? You took a loan when you clearly knew you had no means of paying back, so what were you expecting? Will you take similar loans from your friends and colleagues and not expect to pay back? Aside closing these loan sharks, I think the government really needs to deal with you defaulters because what you lots do is clearly an act of theft.
Thank you bro. These loan apps didn't force anyone of them to take loans. They have one accept their terms and conditions (which most won't read) before they payout any loan. So what's the fault of the loan guys? Honestly, an average Nigerian is the lite version of our politicians.
