mascot87: My brother, your destiny is in your hands. If you seat back, watch and keep wailing, it will be difficult to progress. We have thousands and thousands of young unprivileged Nigerian youths doing exploits in different fields, making use 9f different opportunities that presents themselves at every point in time. Since 1999 that we are back to democratic rule, I have been seeing online now and then wailing, complaints etc of different people during different government from President Obasanjo till date and trust me till the end of the world it would remain so. A lot of guys they were bitterly complaining online but have a rethink, work on themselves and today are doing great things have now stop wailing and enjoying. It all depends on your mindset, your vision and what you choose to make out of your life. No government will save you, not now and not in the future except you take your destiny into your own hands. As bad as you say thus government is, I see a whole lot of people thriving and doing very well for themselves. If you don't change your mindset, even if the best government in the world is at your tip, you will still wail and complain and not achieve anything. Shalom That same Bobloco a confirmed so called Obidient disciple wailed profusely under president Buhari 2015-2023, if I told u that I am not shocked that he has continued from were he left off, after Buhari would be an understatement. O guy no wan help emself, he thinks posting only negative news about Tinubu on Nairaland will change his destiny for better. |

Bobloco: Future impossible tense"? My brother, the only thing more impossible than that grammar is expecting good governance from this administration. You talk about ‘taking advantage’ of government policies which ones exactly? The ones that have tripled food prices and fuel prices, collapsed the naira, and left millions in idps owing to insecurities ravage the entire country and in darkness while the President globe-trots and remain aloft
This country is bleeding, and no amount of motivational delusion can change the fact that Tinubu’s government has so far been a masterclass in failure. Nigerians don’t owe the government gratitude for surviving the government owes them results for the mandate it was given or claimed to have snatch, grab and run away with. Can u please mention what state in the federal republic of Nigeria u are from? But I know that shame, will never allow u to truly do so, so for u, it is best u mask under the Federal Government to hide your failure. |

mascot87: Future impossible tense. The earlier you start to take advantage of the several policies of this government, the better for you. You can't keep lazing around and then come online on a daily basis wailing on what you can't do anything about other than ranting Your statement has been truly validated. |

IMO is the second largest GDP in nigeria according to world Bank
But digger between two to fourth is very small Ok u believe GDP, but u doubt IGR abi? Well I no blame una, na so nnamdi Kanu be, speak with one side, when dey catch am, no be talk am. Isn’t the money collected from the Federal government factored into the GDP of the states? IGR is the monies raised internally, generated without any external factors, homegrown earnings. |

mrvitalis: GDP is how u measure economy GDP per capita is how you measure productivity HDI is how u measure government impacts on the people
Go to school boy Whether IGR, or GDP Lagos & Delta State still pass all the states for the South East region. The state with the highest GDP in Nigeria is Lagos State, serving as the nation's economic powerhouse due to its commercial activities, industrial hubs, and thriving entertainment and technology sectors. The top three states by GDP are typically Lagos State, Rivers State (an oil and gas hub), and Akwa Ibom State (another oil-rich region). Other states with significant GDPs include, Delta, Oyo, imo, Ogun, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja |
Politics › Re: Ranking Of States By Internally Generated Revenue (2024 - The Cable) by Burob: 5:26pm On Oct 06, 2025 |
PHIPEX: You are just displaying high level literacy. IGR is a function of how much a company or individual chooses to pay as tax. It doesn't show who is richer.
Don't be surprised Aliko Dangote does not pay the highest tax in Nigeria.
Keep celebrating what govt is taking away from you. A civil service state can pay higher tax than a business oriented state because their tax is deducted from source and they cant run away from it while a richer business man can dogde tax., A big company can also declare losses and avoid tax, it doesnt make them poor Internal generated revenue means revenue that was generated from within the state, or local government, if a company in your state makes $80 million dollars year on year, & the government taxes that company 15%, just imagine the amount of money the government made from the productivity of that company. Man U no get excuse for your laziness. |

jmoore: If you channel your energy from insulting to learning, you might learn 1 or 2 things.
Apart from Enugu, other south east states are not bothering the people with too much taxation. That's the only reason for the low IGR. internally Generated Revenue (IGR) refers to the money a government, especially a sub-national one like a state or local government, collects from its own sources within its jurisdiction, such as taxes and fees, rather than from central government allocations or grants. This financial independence is crucial for funding local projects and ensuring financial viability. In Nigeria, IGR includes sources like Pay As You Earn (PAYE), direct assessment taxes, road taxes, stamp duties, Local Government Area (LGA) revenue, and revenue from government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). Key Characteristics of Internally Generated Revenue Source: Revenue is generated from sources within a government's own territory and authority. Purpose: It provides financial autonomy to fund local initiatives and projects. Independence: IGR is separate from statutory allocations or grants from higher levels of government. Sources of IGR in Nigeria (Examples) Taxes: Pay As You Earn (PAYE) Direct Assessment (for self-employed individuals) Road Taxes Stamp Duties Capital Gains Tax Withholding Taxes Other taxes Other Sources: Local Government Area (LGA) revenue Revenue from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) Fees for permits, such as outdoor structures. Why IGR is Important: Financial Viability: It is a key factor in a government's ability to finance its operations and development programs. Fiscal Independence: IGR enhances a government's ability to be self-sufficient and responsive to local needs. Development: Strong IGR can drive development by providing funds for crucial infrastructure and services. |
