Sponsored and state-supervised attacks on opposition figures like Elrufai, Aregbesola, Malami, Katsina Elders and now Rhodes-Vivor is not looking good for our democracy. This isn't the behaviour of someone confident of victory, it's the behaviour of someone who has looked at the numbers and seen that there's no pathway to re-election. Politics › Re: Leave Our Leaders Alone, Face Bandits – ADC Tells Police, Federal Gov’t by Burob: 10:01pm On Sep 06, 2025 |
Ofunaofu: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed grave concern over the increasing use of law enforcement agencies to harass and intimidate opposition leaders, while criminal violence continues to devastate communities across the country.
The party condemned the police summons issued to former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, as well as the attack on the former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami’s convoy in Kebbi State, which left many party members injured and terrified.
In a statement signed by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the national publicity secretary of the ADC, the party described these developments as an assault not just on individual politicians, but on Nigeria’s democracy itself. It warned that the Nigeria Police Force had seemingly become a willing tool of political suppression for the federal government rather than a national security department, that is truly focused on rooting out bandits and other criminals across the country.
It added that at a time when terrorists and criminal gangs freely operate in large parts of the North, the Nigeria Police appeared more interested in silencing opposition leaders than protecting citizens.
The ADC said these acts by the police were not isolated, but represent a systematic attempt to criminalise opposition politics, especially in states where the ruling party feels threatened by the growing influence of the ADC.

There is no where in the world where a federal government project should be undertaken by an individual without approval from the parliament. It only seems just in your sense because nigeria has unconstitutionally allowed individuals to embark on handling some government projects but for their own personal gains. This shouldn't be encouraged, she can influence her husband who is the president to fix the national library with public funds. okeychris: House of Reps Opposition Lawmakers Call for Change of Minority Leadership Over N19b Scandal
A growing discontent is brewing among opposition lawmakers in the House of Representatives, fueled by perceived compromises by the minority leadership in the 10th Assembly.
Critics accuse their leaders of being overly cozy with the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, rendering them ineffective in holding the ruling party accountable for pressing issues like crippling hardship, rampant insecurity, and widespread corruption. The lawmakers' reluctance to speak out has sparked public outcry, eroding trust in the opposition's ability to provide robust oversight.
They attribute the minority leadership's disturbing silence on the people's plight to financial inducements from the APC-led House leadership, allegedly through unequal distribution of funds and misappropriated funds in the budget, including vague 'zonal intervention projects' and other opaque initiatives used for political patronage by the National Assembly leadership. It is said that the leadership of the both arms of the National Assembly appropriate hundreds of billions to themselves in the budget in the name of phantom zonal projects.
A recent viral video in the social media where the Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. George Ozodinobi, was boasting about the N19b he 'has' in the current budget cast light to this trend and further infuriated other lawmakers who are not part of the leadership of the House.
This insensitive disclosure was made at the Iwa-Iji ( New yam festival) ceremony of the Igwe of Nimo, Anambra State, where the Deputy Minority Whip, George Ozodinobi, who is planning to run for Senate made the above disclosure.
It's even more ironical that Hon. Ozodinobi is not only representing the Labour Party, but also is the representative of Mr. Peter Obi's Federal Constituency. Obi is the National leader of LP and its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections. Obi is known to be an advocate for transparency in governance.
Statutorily, each of the 360 federal constituencies are only entitled to capital projects and zonal intervention projects not exceeding N1billion in the current budget, so many are bewildered that if Hon. Ozodinobi who is the least in the 10-man Leadership of the House could input 19B, then it could only be imagined what the others got.
Following the viral video's release, disgruntled members, already frustrated over unpaid contractors, have intensified calls for a change in leadership, particularly within the Minority Leadership of the House. They accuse the leadership of colluding with the ruling APC, citing a lack of advocacy for opposition interests. "Can you name one policy issue the minority caucus, led by Kingsley Chinda, a known Nyesom Wike ally, has championed on the House floor?" an angry opposition lawmaker fumed.
Continuing, the lawmaker stated that since it was an APC government, it is the opposition caucuses in the Parliament that should hold them to account, but that he said, was not happening because of obvious pecuniary interests.
Given the apparent level of compromise and collusion with the ruling party, opposition lawmakers question the ability of the current minority leaders to provide effective oversight and hold the government accountable, casting doubt on their commitment to genuine opposition objectives and the interests of the people. Quite obvious that no opposition exists, just empty barrels. |

There's no governor touching Elrufai's performance as governor of Kaduna in the foreseeable future. The records are there.
He took Kaduna from an average of 9 billion naira per year IGR to over 60 billion naira when he left office. Kaduna became the Northern State with the highest IGR during his tenure. Kaduna was consistently top 5 state that attracted the highest FDI while he was governor. He embarked on the iconic and ambitious KadunaUrbanRenewal drive that transformed the city of Kaduna into a very modern city. You can either visit Kaduna to see for yourself or do your research online. There's no Nigerian alive that can doubt the capacity of Elrufai to deliver in any task he's assigned. He delivered as DG BPE, delivered as FCT Minister (still the best till date) and delivered as governor of Kaduna state. Ok u have been supporting the APC covertly abi? |

adenigga: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the Chief Executive Officer of Gavice Logistics Limited, Ahamba Tochukwu, for allegedly defrauding investors of over N2bn through a failed logistics investment scheme.
In a statement on Wednesday, the EFCC said Tochukwu, through his company, lured investors with promises of a 50 per cent return on investments in haulage, courier, and e-commerce services.
According to the commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, investigations revealed that more than 400 people invested in the scheme but have been unable to recover their funds.
The EFCC added that Tochukwu absconded with the money in November 2024 before being tracked down and arrested.
The agency also warned Nigerians against falling for unverified investment platforms.
“With his arrest, members of the public are advised to desist from patronising unverified pyramid schemes and fraudulent investment promoters in order to avoid being defrauded,” the EFCC said.
