Politics › Re: Creation Of Too Many States Has Bankrupted Nigeria by Burob: 3:38pm On Aug 17, 2023
gidgiddy:
All depends how you see it. Nigeria had 4 Regions that were controlling their resources when Gowon came in early August 1966. Within months, Gowon had enacted Decree 14 that abolished the 4 Regions and created 12 new states. He immediately followed this up with decree 15 that abolished resource control and placed that responsibility in the hands of the federal government

Subsequent heads of state kept dividing the 12 States created by Gowon until we got the 36 states we currently have

But had Gowon left the 4 Regions to continue with their resource control, we may not have been where we are today
The first legislative passed the law, Nigeria became a Republic in 1963, even Tafawa Balewa & Co visited Yankee, hosted by JFK in 1963 to understand the system more, but unfortunately couldn’t implement it, due to tribalism, nepotism & what have you, the military came in, & did it by decree.

It was a necessary evil, because the major tribes of the regions, Hausa, Igbo & Yoruba were oppressing the minority tribes too much, ie, revenue from their resources, where going to Kaduna, Enugu & Ibadan.
Politics › Re: What Do You Think About Festus Keyamo As Minister Of Aviation by Burob: 3:06pm On Aug 17, 2023
elujah1:
Should be run by someone who has experience in that field not a novice, aviation parastatal are interwoven, working with one gives an idea of what others entail, and it takes years to learn this. If the government is true to itself about making changes and improving the country, they know what to do
It would be run by someone experienced in Administration, the permanent secretary & Directors of the ministry, are the technocrats.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg

Pete Buttigieg serves as the 19th Secretary of Transportation, having been sworn in on February 3, 2021.

His focus as Secretary is to deliver the world’s leading transportation system for the American people and economy. He has worked to achieve organizational excellence in the department’s operations, and to focus the department on five policy goals: safety, jobs, equity, climate, and innovation. In his first year at the Department, he prioritized supporting the development and passage of President Biden’s signature Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Since the law’s passage, Secretary Buttigieg and his team have focused on effectively delivering the investments provided by this legislation, enabling the most significant improvements in U.S. transportation infrastructure in over half a century.

The Secretary has also focused on intervening to support American supply chains dealing with shockwaves from the pandemic, including measures to help cut in half the long-dwelling container congestion at America’s largest ports. Other major initiatives in his early tenure have included a comprehensive national roadway safety strategy to reduce deaths and serious injuries; delivery of emergency COVID-19 relief funds to transit agencies across America; and awards of over $9.5 billion in discretionary funding to enhance transportation through over 800 projects in communities across America.

The first openly gay person confirmed to serve in a president’s Cabinet, Secretary Buttigieg previously served two terms as mayor of his hometown, South Bend, Indiana, where he worked across the aisle to transform the city’s future. Household income grew, poverty fell, and unemployment was cut in half. His work on transportation as mayor was nationally recognized, including an award for innovative streetscape design from the U.S. Department of Transportation where he now serves.

He also served for seven years as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve, taking a leave of absence from the mayor’s office for a deployment to Afghanistan in 2014.

The son of Joseph Buttigieg, who immigrated to the United States from Malta, and Jennifer Anne Montgomery, a fifth-generation Hoosier, Secretary Buttigieg is a graduate of Harvard University and Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar and completed a degree in philosophy, politics, and economics.
He lives with his husband Chasten, their two children, Gus and Penelope, and their dog

Obviously you've not been in this field, this is the same mistake past administrations have made, Buhari brought an expert but at some point when the minister did wrongs, nepotism wouldn't allow him to be changed.
President Buhari brought an expert of what? So Nigeria Airport Authority under the aviation ministry must be run by an aeronautic engineer or pilot is that what you are implying?

Business › Re: Forex Crisis: We Must Export, Else Things Will Not Get Better – Obaseki by Burob: 10:55pm On Aug 16, 2023
UdabaPrince100:
The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said that Nigeria must recalibrate the economy to export semi-finished and finished products else Nigeria’s parlous foreign exchange regime will not get better.

The governor was speaking when he played host to leaders of Edo South Senatorial District of the State, in Government House, Benin City.

The floating of the Nigerian currency, Naira, by the Federal Government, has resulted in a sharp rise in the exchange rate, with $1 exchanging for as high as N945.

According to the governor, “We can't wait for the dollars. We can’t wait for everything to be imported. We need to export our own, as things will not get better soon. If we continue to work for the people in Edo, we will make the life and the future of the people better.”

The governor noted that the state government is working assiduously to improve the state’s economy and build the necessary mechanism to support exports.

He said: “In two years under the Edo State Oil Palm Programme (ESSOP), we have allocated over 70,000 hectares of land for fresh oil palm plantations. Various investors are now cultivating nurseries in the State. We are developing businesses in Edo State and creating an institution to train our people to work for those businesses.”

The governor further stated that the state’s government is building a solid base to promote exports and drive productivity, creating jobs and building wealth for the benefit of Edo people.

Either the army dont know physics, defense science or what projectiles and momentum is or he is just plain stupi.d

All you have to do is to target the rotor and hit it a few times

Hitting the blade at certain angle that can be achieved by luck via rapid firing can bring it down even

Helicopters are considered unsafe really because they are mostly unstable

im not supprised sha the other day I watched a video of army shooting at bandits abi Boko Haram...no coordination,no aiming just face direction and empty your bullets

Even my siblings and cousins born in the late 1970s ate indomie in the mid 1990s when they were in the university and also at home.

So they all drank Gold Spot, Limca, and Tandi Guarana up to the 1990s just as us who were born in the 1980s.

So if those born in the late 1970s still ate Indomie and Maggi 2-minute Noodles as teenagers in the mid 1990s to qualify as Indomie generation also, what then is the need for these incessant questions over the years about Indomie generation not knowing things that existed in the 1980s or 1990s when those born in the 1970s also qualify as indomie generation as I have proven.
Throwback, forever on point.

I wish you had taken the patience to read through. You are right to say that IREV is secondary source of data. If I may ask, what is the primary source? Secondly, if that source is disputed, what would be used for verification? We are back to IREV.

Now according to the SC judgement on Osun, upload to IREV is a key part of the electoral process because it takes place at the PU in real time. Also according to INEC guidelines as empowered by the Electoral Act, collation of results must be done after verification from IREV.

Hope this reply isn't too long.
Maybe you reside in Finland, maybe also around the small town Simon Ekpa lives in? If you reside in Nigeria, you should be conscious to know that Obi & Atiku are just wasting their time.

Even if you like record Tinubu & his supporters stuffing the ballot boxes, the tribunal will still declare him the winner, same as The Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Welcome to Nigeria, home of the fantastically corrupt, don’t know why you oblivious minded Obidients always choose to deceive yourselves?

The funny thing about Tinubu supporters is that they either didn't follow the proceedings or they deliberately closed their eyes to reality.

My brother, I tell you, if Obi lawyers didn't bury Tinubu in court, by now a judgement would have been out.

The petitioners case is just too strong.
What case? The election was won by APC, the day Judas Gringory Obi declared to contest against his Master Abubakar Atiku.

Hopefully the list is not true. As I was still uncomfortable with the appointment of Ribadu as NSA...I mean, the same part of the country who created Boko Haram as a way to blackmail southern presidents, who sees bandits as 'business men,' are now in charge of defence? A region who shows little or no interest in education, who sees western education as haram, will be in charge of our education for another four years after the poor showing of the last minister from the same part of the country?

Atiku Bagudu

😂😂😂😂

Minister of State for Defence

Bello Matawalle (Former Zamfara Governor)

🙈🙈🙈🙈

Minister of Petroluem

Ahmed Tinubu

(since no one was assigned the portfolio)

Tinubu was just duplicating ministries. I thought he has plans after submitting 48 ministers, the highest in our country ever.

A large and complex United States has only 12 secretaries with all their wealth. But a very poor Nigeria has 48, duplicating most of the responsibilities.

Tinubu will finish this country
Incoherent Inconsequential Almijiri Keep wailing. Shameless lazy thing.
