Family › Re: Is It Wrong To Teach Your Child To Appreciate Money? by Burrito(f): 11:52pm On Jun 30, 2012
First of all, i commend you and your wife for having the mind to raise your son to learn to work for what he wants and not wait for the world to hand things to him. I however agree with people who have said that you should be careful about paying your son to help out in the house, as he should anyway. But i wouldn't totally fault what the pastor said - your son could indeed grow up to have an undue love for money where he would refuse to do things or be kind to be people if there's 'nothing' in it for him. Right now, he is learning to pursue instant gratification and he is eager to tell you he cleaned up his room just because he knows he will get paid. I like the idea of giving him pocket money on a weekly/ biweekly/ monthly basis while continuing to educate him about saving towards the things he likes. I like you guys though, you are forward thinking parents! You have the right intentions, your son will learn responsibility real fast. But train him to have a heart too, to sometimes help out just because he can, not because he will get paid.
Jokes Etc › Re: Funny Beliefs We Had When We Were A Kid by Burrito(f): 1:10am On Jun 17, 2012
This is a lovely thread. I used to believe that the sun singled me out to follow me everywhere. My mum told me that my grandma once presented the Queen of England with a bouquet of flowers, omo, see bragging when i got to school. I thought the president of any country was named Babangida. I thought sleeping with a bible under my pillow was sure protection against witches and co. I thought swallowing chewing gum would seal all my intestines together.

Davidylan, you are extremely extremely intelligent and all, but you are so bigotted in your thinking. It's almost as if you live in a bubble. And it is actually possible to argue without the arrogant, condescending and insulting words you use. Sooooo unattractive.

If only their sole purpose was to take out the top guns, maybe they wouldn't be so bad after all. But, alas, they are also into wasting innocent lives.
Technology Market › Re: Wazzat??? Is Someone Trying To Steal Seun's Shine? Or Am I Stale? by Burrito(op): 3:34am On May 08, 2012
So i am on a posting/ browsing 'spree' today and i come across this site 'www.nairaland.+net' (for some reason i'm having trouble creating a hyperlink... there shouldn't be a '+' before the 'net'). It is moderated by one Richard Akindele and apparently has been around since 2006. Is this something Seun knows about? If it's been discussed already, my bad... couldn't find a related post here. Sorry for the double post

Politics › Re: Why Do Nigerians Use Shocking Titles? by Burrito(f): 9:51pm On May 03, 2012
In the US, lots of educated people add their degree after their name, you'd think it was their last name. Not everything is peculiar to Nigeria, sorry to disappoint you mate.

Isn't it ironic that Linda asked this question just a month ago and then when some chick admits that she doesnt think Linda is a role model, Linda exposes her and throws her to the vultures. Miss Linda.....
Politics › Spiritual Leaders And The Occupy Movement by Burrito(op): 3:42am On Jan 17, 2012
In a country where religious leaders (particularly Christian) have very strong influence on their sizable congregations (both locally and in the diaspora), I find it interesting that not many of their voices have been heard as Nigerians cry out against what they think is injustice. Why is that? Any thoughts? This is NOT intended as a forum to insult spiritual leaders (or me, lol) - if you think you might have an answer or opinion, please be civil while offering it.  Thanks.
Travel › Re: Who Will Foot The £200,000 Bill?! by Burrito(f): 4:56am On Jul 06, 2011
Did she really buy Clomid over the counter? shocked  shocked That's one of the ways our system failed this woman. She has blame yeah, but she shouldn't take it alone. Jonathan should drop £180,000 from our oil money and her family should find the remaining £20,000, to maintain their dignity. Or,  the NHS can just let this one go and learn their lesson.

She didn't go to Mozambique o, she just paid all the money and pulled all the strings to fly them to Yankee to dance for her.
Music/Radio › Re: Beyonce!'s Run The World! by Burrito(f): 9:48pm On May 28, 2011
I love this video, especially the beginning 'skanky leg' part with those two guys. The girl can dance! and that was some amazing choreography.

Those guys are from a Mozambique dancing group called tofo tofo and the dance is a local Mozambique dance called Kwaito. They performed at a wedding in Mozambique and someone put the video on youtube. Beyonce saw the video, hunted them down all the way to Mozambique and the rest is history,

Check youtube for the original dance with a trio made of these two guys and another guy:

Great video!

My mum likes to please people she shouldn't send. She seems to believe in world peace.

I love her to death though!
